The best restaurants serving British food in Castle Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

Visited Orchard Cafe with my sister for lunch on Saturday 21st March and could no believe what we where served. We both asked for a Tuna Melt which we have had on several occasions at Cooplands and has always been good. When it came it was just HALF a sandwich just 1 slice of bread with salad and crisps. We could not believe it. We have never been served half a sandwich before at any cafe. No wonder the place was virtually empty with only a few tables taken. This was a Saturday at 1.30. and should have bee very busy.

Habíamos pasado por Delicious a principios de semana, y los encantadores pasteles de ca nos habían llamado la atención, así que nos preguntamos si hacían sopa. Comimos una tarta Manchester y un frangipani de cereza y almendra, ambos estaban deliciosos, creo que eran 8 libras. 80 por los pasteles y tés tan excelente relación calidad-precio. El personal era amable, la elección en el menú era increíble, y la comida que vimos salir todo parecía delicioso. Volveremos.

Llegamos temprano / media tarde y pudimos ver que estaban ocupados había unas cuantas mesas vacías y la mayoría de la gente ya estaba siendo servida, así que preguntamos si podíamos tomar el té de la tarde y nos mostraron a una mesa. Donde nos dejaron sin una bebida o menú durante más de 30 minutos. Nos fuimos... Amigos habían dicho que la comida era buena aquí y estábamos buscando una estancia (en una fecha posterior) para nuestro aniversario de bodas, así que tuvimos un aperitivo en otro lugar, pero sonó y reservó en el salón una mesa temprano, ya que teníamos un espectáculo para ir. A la llegada no - uno podía encontrar nuestra reserva, pero después de unos 15 minutos de pie nos mostraron a una mesa. Una vez más no había actitud bienvenida - éramos una molestia una dificultad. Pedimos comida (pero el servidor no sabía qué era la sopa del día y tenía que ir a averiguarlo) esperamos - - durante mucho tiempo - - y esperamos - no se ofrecen bebidas - esperamos. Entonces la pobre camarera tuvo que decirnos que no podíamos comer. (Esto para unos cuantos sandwiches y una sopa). Pedimos ver al gerente, esperamos mucho tiempo. Finalmente dejamos la mesa y exigimos ver al gerente. Ella había estado cerca, pero aparentemente había sido demasiado importante para venir a nuestra mesa a hablar con nosotros. Ella (no realmente) lo sentía, pero si esperábamos un poco ella vería SI podíamos encajar en el restaurante. En este momento no había tiempo antes del espectáculo. El gerente era inútil y francamente no le importaba. ¡Sus palabras eran tópicos y ella se esforzó en hacernos saber que realmente no eran mezquinos! Con la tarde casi arruinada y posiblemente sin tiempo suficiente para comer nos fuimos. Afortunadamente nos detuvimos en el siguiente lugar por la calle 'iL Piatto' que aunque muy ocupado dijo que estaban muy ocupados, pero trataría de alimentarnos rápidamente para que pudiéramos comer antes del espectáculo, . Lo hicieron y el servicio y la comida era excelente. Este era un día frío en invierno y Scarborough no estaba ocupado en verano. EL CIELO SABE LO MALO QUE SERÁ EL SERVICIO EN EL SALÓN EN VERANO - - NO VAYAS No volveremos a ir

Lovely tea in the Lovely palm court. Excellent service and quiet music. Highly recommended. Also in the men’s room they had books to read! Super.

Food was good menu had been stripped back from last time I visited but food was still good

Ordered a pint and a burger with extra cheese and was asked to pay before the food came out, and now I know why. The last time I saw anything that pallid and beige I was eating a school meal (before Jamie Oliver). Literally bread cheese and a patty, no salad in the bun, no sauce. Girlfriend got the spicy bean burger and it was the same story, why would a vegetarian want salad in their burger? But you don't eat with your eyes so let's have a bash... Oh nevermind, had the texture of a flipflop and the unmistakable taste of frozen thawed economy meat, animal unknown, but I'm checking for jokey silks. Chips were ok, not bad not great, bendy onion rings. Didn't bother to complain as it's not like the chef is gonna go out and buy quality ingredients or change the way they plate up, check back, "everything ok?" " yeah it's ok" "ok"... Ok is not ok, just saying. I will say the fish and chips on the table over from us looked pretty good. That's my compliment for the day done. If youre in a rush and want something cheap, tasty and quick, don't bother, this place is none of those things, get a hotdog and enjoy the true Scarbados experience. Will not be returning

AVOID AVOID. Batter was hard, could tell the oil has never been changed and the staff clearly don’t know how to cut. The screens were off so no menus should of warned us.

Called in here today for lunch, WHAT A MISTAKE! Don't get me wrong I don't mind paying for food that is expensive if it's good and well prepared, however today's offering was expensive but poor quality and not in the least appetising. We were pointed towards our table that wasn't really comfortable due to lack of space between other tables, infact when a group of 3 tried to sit at the next table we had to move our table and chairs backwards so that they could get in and sit on 2 of the chairs, one of their 4 chairs was completely unusable due to a stack of high chairs jamming it in. Our order was taken and we had quite a long wait for our food ( they were quite busy) the order was taken by a pleasant young lady. When the food did arrive although my haddock was really hot the chips were just lukewarm, I thought that bread came with the meal so had to ask for it, it came quickly but by then the chips were stone cold. I asked a waitress if it was possible to have some hot chips and she went to remove the whole plate, I pointed out the fish would probably be cold by the time it was returned so put it onto my side plate to continue eating it. When the chips came back they had obviously been scrapped onto a fresh plate and microwaved (hard on the outside nuclear hot in the middle). Wife went for the salmon in a creamy garlic butter sauce 🤣🤣🤣🤣 with broccoli and sliced potatoes (over cooked broccoli and a new potato sliced and pan fied in oil 🤮) The one slice of bread and butter wasn't crusty as stated on the menu and cost £1.95. When we were asked by a member of staff I voiced my concerns and said that I would not be returning, she told me that even though she worked there she wouldn't eat there due to food quality and price. Trust me I won't be going back again. The only thing I would recommend however is the pot of tea, it was excellent and came with a separate pot of boiling water to top up the main pot to avoid it becoming stewed. The member of staff I spoke to about the quality did however take the drinks off the bill and discount it, which was fair, however I really would have preferred better food so I could eat it all and paid full price. 😏😏😏

Segunda vez aquí después de visitar el parque acuático Alphamare. Todos tenemos pescado con papas fritas. El eglefino que tengo era de primera categoría. Otros dijeron que su bacalao era precioso, solo que la masa estaba un poco exagerada como en seco y desmenuzado, pero esto era preferencia personal. El personal es muy amable y acogedor. El precio era muy razonable. Lo único que diría es que la salsa de curry, que algunos de nosotros comimos era demasiado dulce, que era más como la salsa de curry china en lugar de la salsa de curry chip shop. Sería bueno que le dijeran sobre el curry antes de ordenar. En general, un lugar encantador para sentarse y comer. Volveremos a defo.

Food was awful and the service was slow. It was basically frozen food overpriced.

After the lady had finished coughing and spluttering everywhere, we were served what can only be described as food consisting of falling out of a horses rectum. The worst food I’ve ever had the misfortune of eating. My grandad once had a pair of slippers which I think were in better condition than the fish and he’s been dead 30’year So if you wanting fish in batter aka tracing paper in batter this is the place for you, Can’t wait to be Covid positive in 5 days to. One last thing. £1.60 for gravy, which in itself is fine, if there was any gravy granules with the water served. Can’t wait to come back

Liam was extremely helpful and patient when we were experiencing difficulties with the blue light card app.Our food and drinks were processed before payment completed to ensure our food was being prepared.

We were seated upstairs and waited 20 minutes before I had to ask if I could order. We ordered and after another 20 minutes the next table was served before us even though they arrived and ordered after us. Staff watched us leave and no one bothered to approach us. Lots of staff/lots of chaos/no food.

Had been in this place previously and it wasn’t a good experience everything let it down but called in because it was raining and so glad we did. This place has totally transformed. On entering it was the Xmas tree for me love the Xmas vibe the decor was really good it looked so much cleaner and inviting. Went to the bar a lovely girl there Chelsea served us with drinks and gave us an update on the place. We decided to eat there.. the food was cooked and presented really well. 2nd night as we were going to a concert at the spa and usually eat there we decided to eat at the carousel again we wasn’t disappointed. Chelsea again was behind the bar on her own but dealt with the queue amazingly quickly and so professional. The food again was excellent. 3rd night went there again to eat had the sharing dishes and again lovely. Sophie served the food and was behind the bar along with a guy Ben these people are so friendly but so professional at the same time. All the staff some I don’t know the names of but we’re always busy. The tables were cleared and everything was in order. Good selection of food and drinks clean place even down to the toilets. Will definitely visit again instead of bypassing it.
