Visited Orchard Cafe with my sister for lunch on Saturday 21st March and could no believe what we where served. We both asked for a Tuna Melt which we have had on several occasions at Cooplands and has always been good. When it came it was just HALF a sandwich just 1 slice of bread with salad and crisps. We could not believe it. We have never been served half a sandwich before at any cafe. No wonder the place was virtually empty with only a few tables taken. This was a Saturday at 1.30. and should have bee very busy.

First confusion was signs & menus stated pick a table & tell the order taker the number of your table - no numbers on the tables. We ordered Veggie breakfast and soup & roll. Definitely asked for veg soup, but carrot & coriander arrived. Food seemed to takeca long timevto arrive. Soup was microwaved to lava hot for some reason . The veggie breakfast had what looked like microwaved frozen Quorn sausages, they were hot, but looked very unappetising. Small plate with average portion. A little more care needed by kitchen staff with regard to wrong soup order & not great cooking techniques

You can’t fault this place for its food or drinks, but they defo haven’t got to grips with COVID-19 measures, yeah signs are up and sanitizer units, but cleaning of tables is far far behind. The public were using tables which hadn’t been cleared therefore not sanitised either. You need more staff to get on top of this and members of the public need to ask for tables to be sanitised before use then the issue might get highlighted. This situation is all new but there are cafes we have visited and they are welol in front of this one when it comes to feeling safe.

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, you know what I do for a living. My biggest bug bear is cold or Luke warm food.We both had the large breakfast, we were served promptly with friendly staff. There was plenty to choose from and it all looked very good. The tables, floors, toilets and visible food areas were all spotlessly clean. So far a five star score.Sorry guys but you lose 2 stars for only just warm food. The only thing that was piping hot was the hash browns. Clearly your not hot holding food at or over 63 degrees, or if you are, you can’t leave it sat so long before the meals go out.Other than that, it’s not too bad. Would return but maybe for a salad!!

Went for a snack whilst shopping , good selection of cakes . I asked for a cheese melt , but was told that plain cheese melts are not included in the offer with a hot drink £5.95, only cheese melts with ; tuna , mushroom or peperoni , which didnt seem to make much sense , as I was asking for a cheaper plain version. Instead I had to get a toasted sandwhich and separate drink . Not great customer service, maybe a training issue ? I had to take the coffee back too as it was really weak .

I was looking for somewhere to have breakfast before 9 am and I noticed Cooplands Cafe was open and I was not disappointed. The server was pleasant and friendly and I decided to have the full English with a free tea/coffee. I got 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon. beans, a fried egg and wholemeal toast with a pot of tea. It was tasty and freshly cooked and served within 10 minutes of ordering. The restaurant is clean and bright and window views over the Brunswick centre. It also has toilets. The only negative comment would be it is accessible by stairs which might not suit the less mobile.

Went for lunch whilst sales shopping in Scarborough. The cafe is up a flight of stairs. The tables are very close together and we felt squashed in at our table. The cafe does not serve decaffinated tea. I ordered a mushroom omelette, when it arrived it was a preprepared omelette folded in half with some mushrooms tucked inside. It should really have been described as an omelette with some mushrooms rather than a mushroom omelette. Disappointing lunch. There are much nicer eating establishments in Scarborough than this old fashioned cafeteria.

We called for lunch whilst shopping, on a sunny but cold day. The window seats were nice and warm, where you can 'people watch'. I chose quiche with salad, this was cheese + onion and came with coleslaw. Hubby had a hot beef + onion bap, this also had salad with it. Both meals were tasty and just enough for a light lunch, Lattes were the drinks of choice today. The loos are small but sufficient, The chairs at the top of the stairs are handy waiting for the loo or just for a breather after tackling the steps.

Me and my wife visited here for lunch on Wednesday 15th November, and ordered the all day breakfast, and steak pie and chips. We decided to try the roast beef roast as it appeared to be well priced. Big mistake. Food was delivered to our table on what I'd describe as kids party plastic plates. The beef was wafer thin, cold and chewy. The gravy was about as thick as oil and absolutely smothered everything. One roast potato, an ice cream scoop of smash and what looked like a ten week old yorkshire pudding. I left it all and ate elsewhere.....it looks like a very well kept cafe decoratively but the food is woeful..

Nothing spectacular but nothing particularly wrong either.Has a variety of hot and cold meals on offer and seemed to be popular. After carting the pushchair up the stairs (no lift so no disability access) we got a table in the 3/4 empty restaurant. It was self serve and although I spotted 4 or 5 members of staff - not one served me for quite some time. All seemed to be bothered about clearing away and getting rid of the food. I heard one of the staff say "well that's what you get for it being Sunday afternoon!" Even though there was 2 hours to closing!!! We were unable to have our 1st/2nd/3rd choice so just went for what was available.... not much choice!! Food was ok. Nothing special. Whilst we were eating the staff moved some chairs to cordon off the area we were sat in - so we were trapped! Made it really awkward to move the chairs and get out with the pushchair. We visited for lunch this Saturday as it is in a good location in the town centre. There was a good range on offer and we both decided for the fish and chips at £4.99 which included bread and butter, A tea was £1.40 and a regular soda 79p.The prices were good and there were plenty of seats available so we were quite happy with our choice, until it was delivered to our table.I suppose we've been spoilt in the past at the Seaside in that fish and chips has always been a staple on menus and is usually always well cooked and tasty.Unfortunately the fish was very small and most of it consisted of batter. The content was not much bigger than if they had cooked a goldfish and you literally had to wade through the batter to find a peice of fish, so neither of us were impressed with our choice. On the positive side the chips, peas and bread were nice, the Staff were pleasant and the meal was delivered to out table without a long wait. Other items on the menu looked ok and the sandwiches looked nice. I would suggest avoiding the fish but everything else looked okay

Awful meal covered in gel like substance purporting to be gravy. Tasteless rubbish not fit for the dustbin. Not cheap either.

You can't beat this simple but really lovely cafe. Excellent food and very good value. We only went for tea but wish we had been ready for a meal.

staying in scarborough for the weekend we wandered into the main shopping area and decided we needed a drink and a snack.we were staying in a wonderful guest house which had served a great english breakfast so certainly did not want or need a full lunch. As it was after 2pm you could have a coffee or pot of tea plus a fresh cream scone for £2 from the specials listed. We decided on tea for two and a cream scone each...did what we wanted and most enjoyable too.very pleasant staff and very clean and comfortable surroundings. We visited twice it was so good!! we will certainly go again when we next spend time in scarborough.

This upstairs café is very clean, spacious, well decorated and excellent for looking down on the busy town centre junction below from the many window tables. The menu is quite extensive and extremely well priced. My selection was the large all day breakfast (£4.95). Brought to the table in hardly any time at all, the meal consists of 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 hash browns, black pudding, fried bread, fried egg, tomato (not for me, so I was offered mushrooms instead), baked beans and 2 whole slices of buttered toast (1 white, 1 brown). The food is very tasty, well presented, hot and tremendous value for money. Well worth the short flight of steps.Oh, and if you go before 11:00 you get a free tea or coffee! How do they do that?

Couldn't fault the quantity cost or quality. Ordered from the vegan menu chips curry sauce and pea fritter. Only problem was the food wasn't piping hot surprising since it was cooked to order in a deep fat fryer.

My son has a dairy allergy and often has to settle for sorbet when at an ice cream parlour. Truly Scrumptious gave him an amazing choice of dairy free ice creams and toppings. We wouldn’t normally have 3 ice creams in 3 days but he was just so excited that he had choices, how could we not??!!

Food was ok. Price was a little steep. Service was nothing to write home about. BUT what was really annoying, after paying by card and leaving, was being chased down on a busy pavement by a member of staff saying the payment didn't go through - tried again and again, then another card and the another card with the staff member carrying the payment machine saying all declined when none of them should have failed ! Because golden grid has been established for such a long time you'd have thought they would have sorted this problem out but apparently not ! it's not like it would cost them much to get better devices with better reception but no they can't be bothered. SO be prepared to be chased down and embarrassed.

We had a lovely lunch with family today, enjoying the view from above and the sunshine. However, when my food was being served, the sizzling from the oil in it landed on my husband's coat. When we asked for the bill, I explained the situation to the lady, who by the way was the person who served us the food, and she barely apologized. I would expect a better handling of the situation...
