Just visited the Jockey under the new owners and sadly disappointed. Although the atmosphere was good and possibly a bit less formal than before the attention to detail has reduced. Has the owner tried cutting the beef using the blunt cutlery on the textured plates I wonder? If the beef was tender I have no idea as it was a battle to cut it. Normally once you’ve ordered the staff take away the unneeded cutlery and replace it with sharp serrated knife. Sadly they left the first course cutlery even though not required. The veg was also soft and overdone and annoyingly those who came in after us were served before us. All of which left a very ‘average’ impression.

Great little spot. I popped in to wait when meeting a friend and it seems like a genuinely good place to go to. Shout out to Katie, very welcoming and pleasant to have a chat with; an absolute asset to the company. It wasn't busy, but rather enjoyable nonetheless. I'm already looking forward to go back again soon when I get the chance.

Booked a table here due to hearing about the amazing pullman seating. The pullman was lovely and such a lovely atmosphere, but... the food... it was £16 fot three courses which is a bargain, but this is because you're basically getting a school dinner. The food didn't look or taste fresh, the sausage and chips came in a bowl drowned in gravy and the chocolate fudge cake was cold and really dry. Overall, great concept, but really poorly executed! Don't travel miles for this place like we did.

Excellent pub. Went here for lunch with my Mom & Dad and very pleasantly surprised. As I hadn’t been in this pub for some years, it exceeded expectations. Lovely interior. Excellent menu choices, great food at a great price. Service was excellent both at the bar & table. Very friendly, helpful staff. Served by Sam G who was lovely & very attentive. Thoroughly recommend this pub.

Called in on a recommendation, we received a very warm welcome. A very comfortable environment to relax in, the menu was good and reasonably priced. Drinks very good, the food was delicious. I had the fish and chips, I have a hearty appetite and was not disappointed in any way. The service was excellent the people waiting on were attentive, polite, friendly and very welcoming. Rest rooms (a good indication of cleanliness of an establishment) were spotlessly clean. I will return to try other dishes on the menu. Thank you Plough and Harrow 👍

First time visiting the Black Lion in a very long time and I had forgotten how absolutely amazing it is down there. It’s so calming hearing the water at the weir and the narrowboats going by. The staff and owner were friendly and welcoming and the beer was perfect. Had to have one of their ‘Bostin beef baps’ and it was delicious. Unfortunately our visit was cut short due to other commitments but we will definitely be back to try the breakfast offerings on a weekend
