We were staying nearby, so this proved an obvious initial choice to try for an evening meal. There is another very nice local establishment next door, but for us with a young child, we felt this was more welcoming and within what we were expecting food and drink wise. Let's start by saying we stayed for 4 nights and ate here 3 times. The food was good, wholesome and wasn't pretending to be anything other than what it was. Everything was served hot, and as expected, and I learnt on night 3 that I could have used the takeaway service!! More to the point, was the welcoming atmosphere displayed by Richard, who headed up the bar and service on 2 of our visits. Richard is what great customer service is about, making time to chat and generally interact with us and my little boy, in an effort to keep him entertained. Along with Richard, the rest of the team were welcoming and friendly and cannot be faulted. This pub introduced me to the wonder that is "Night Jar" - a new Guinness alternative, but unfortunately only available on draught... I can't order to take home. In short, if you want a classic pub experience, lunch or dinner, this will not disappoint. I only hope you get to meet Rich and the rest of the team that we did :-)

Visited this pub primarily because it sells Wye Valley Brewery Nightjar nitro stout which is an excellent beer, almost as good as London Black and better than Guinness. It’s a very pleasant pub with pretty stained glass windows. Well worth a visit.

If you go to Kenilworth you won't go wrong if you go to The Clarendon Arms for a meal or a drink. The friendly staff will welcome you and give you the great menu to look at. The choice of beers, wines and spirits is good. Now here's an advantage of going to The Clarendon Arms . . . Kenilworth Castle is just over the road. You can go inside the castle or walk around the outside. Afterwards eat or drink at the Clarendon Arms. That gives you a lovely time in Kenilworth.

This is a lovely pub with good food. There is an outside enclosed courtyard style garden at the back, which is a mess. It is such a missed opportunity as it has great views of the castle and it could be so much nicer. Please get this cleaned up so it a pleasant area to sit in. Do not bother with the plants if they are not going to be looked after

I went here as a recommendation of my AirBnB host Julia. I walked in, it was welcoming and pleasant. The bar chap, Richard- was awesome! You know when you meet a really nice chap, decent, funny and great with people- well, this is Richard. I don’t know if he is the owner or staff but either way, he is an asset to the business. I ordered Rump Steak. (With onion rings thanks to the upsell from Richard! Bloody brilliant salesman!🤣) By the time of writing this review I hadn’t yet tasted the food but wanted to ensure whilst waiting, I gave a good review of Richard. It’s often the case people write bad reviews and forget the good times. Anyway. Blah blah blah. Thanks for being a great host Richard.

I was there for lunch and the food was not up to taste. Everything tastes like it’s been frozen and or microwaved. The front of house left me sitting there for 30 minutes waiting for my starter to be cleared, I’d understand if it was busy but there were only a few other customers eating. The manager also loves to continually talk about her life/problems as you try to eat which is frustrating when you’re trying to enjoy your meal and she’s telling you that she has done lots of things like professional dancing which in her case looks unlikely. Will not be returning.

5/24 Met an old friend here for lunch (1st lunchtime visit for me). We both had filled ciabattas: his was roast beef and fried onions, mine bacon and egg. Both were generously filled and well-cooked. I ordered chips with mine, also a generous portion. Prices were very reasonable plus a decent pint of Butty Bach. Latest visit 11/23. It was pie night, so my drink (decent pint of bitter) was included in the price. The steak and ale pie was very acceptable, though nowhere on the menu did it say it was actually steak, ale and mushroom pie. Fortunately I like mushrooms, but what about those who don't? Service very good. Visited again 11/22. Still good - wide menu (including good veggie options) with generous portions and friendly, helpful staff. 7/22 First visit for many years! Food and service good with generous portions. Will return.

I went to the Clarendon Arms today for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic. From the moment I phoned a few days back to book the staff were so accommodating, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. I booked for 12:15 for 3 people (one toddler and an older person who needed to be downstairs) I was accommodated perfectly with a highchair and spacious downstairs table. We all had roast dinners; pork, lamb and a kids beef. It was all perfect! With my pork I had stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, apple sauce, crackling, a roast carrot and parsnip, roast potatoes and gravy. There was also a side of mixed veg for us to share. The cost is very reasonable for the quality of food you get. The childs meal included a free dessert too! I had chocolate torte for dessert which is meant to come with raspberry sorbet but I requested cream instead which was done no problem. Nan had a massive slab of bread and butter pudding with custard and my daughter had a chocolate brownie sundae. The staff were back and forth checking that we were okay and had what we needed, all of them were smiley and friendly. We had 2 adults mains, 2 adults desserts, kids meal with dessert, bottle of appletizer and a glass of wine which was £60. Very reasonable indeed for such a lovely place. Massive car park out the back, pay and display. £2.50 for up to 3 hours. I haven't been to this pub in years but I'll definitely come back soon and recommend to family and friends! (I'm already planning my Nans birthday meal here lol). I have included photos of my main and dessert. Thank you so much!

Bit tight on pate portions with lightly toasted bread and salad. Crumble and cheesecake were lovely but the supposed jumbo Chou pastry was a miss honestly, not Chantilly cream as stated, bland and underwhelming. However, all in all a lovely meal. As strangers to the area, Trip Advisor pointed us in the direction of The Clarendon Arms. Although it was late afternoon, many families were enjoying their food, and we had wondered whether we would be waiting long for our meals. I chose the lamb roast, whilst my partner opted for fish and chips, which almost appeared before we had a chance to make inroads into our drinks. I am inclined to comment that my roast dinner was one of the best pub roasts I have had for a very long time. To make room on my plate for a variety of fresh vegetables, I ate the tasty Yorkshire Pudding using my hands! The roast potatoes melted in your mouth, the generous lamb portion soaked in a lovely gravy went down equally as quickly, leaving an empty plate before my partner had bearly devoured even half of her well cooked fish. The industrious staff are a credit to the landlord, and if we return to this neck of the woods, we will head directly to The Clarendon Arms. A competitively priced menu, generous sized portions meant that we left without tasting a pudding, as our stomachs were full!

(On the day we visited they stopped serving food at 2pm, although the menu said 3pm? Kenilworth is a stunning town, if you’re there to visit the castle… we recommend refreshments at the Clarendon then a walk through park and around the town. There are a lot of different buildings to admire. If you do visit the castle, it’s worth knowing it’s a public footpath that goes around the castle. If you wish to pay to go in, you must purchase tickets at the visitor centre prior to entering the castle grounds. Decided on our wY home to pop into this place for Sunday lunch. What finally arrived in front of me I was shocked for £17 I could have cooked better than this for our bill of over £40. Dried up piece of chicken, over cooked roast potatoes, 1 large brown parsnip, brown over cooked cauliflower cheese and a few carrots, 1 pieve of brocoli and a slice of savoy cabbage. This was poor and basically was fit for the bin. If you're going to offer a cooked Sunday roast all day at least make it edible and look appetising. I Won't be going back here this was very poor food today and Jamie Oliver would give you a very poor rating if you dished that kind of meal up for him.

Awful selection of real ales.... it's a Green King pub but hasn't served Abbot Ale since 1799...tonight with a huge Rugby Union match, they even run out of Green King IPA... staff don't care, take it or leave it policy. Avoid like the plague....
