Couldn’t thank the team enough for providing the ideal venue for my son’s post pool party celebrations. Fantastic food, wonderful staff and very accommodating even when we turned up late. Great time had by all

We have eaten here twice now and both visits were extremely disappointing. The 1st time we sent a steak back because it was undercooked ( asked for medium and it was rare). Today we decided to give it a 2nd chance and went for breakfast which wasn't anything special considering how much they are charging. The sausages were undercooked & the eggs benadict had eggshell in. £35 for 2 coffees, a full English (fairly small portion) & eggs benadict is way too expensive. The meal was worth £20 -£25 tops. Also, they had run out of brown sauce, which was pretty shocking. Never in my life have i heard of a restaurant running out of basic condiments! The only positive thing i can really say i that the play area outside is nice for children and kept fairly clean. I would return for drinks outside on a nice day but not for food again.

The food was brilliant! Staff were good, especially as it was very busy. At one point during our meal a member of staff dropped some glasses (this wasn't a problem, accidents happen) however when the glass smashed shards went everywhere and ended up, on our seats, table and we were even finding bits stuck in our clothing. We did tell a member of staff this but they just said they would clean it later. We carried on our meal and enjoyed the sunday roast but it did slightly spoil the occasion as we kept finding more shards and were worried about getting hurt.

Had the Sunday roast. Enormous portion! Very good food. Was there before it got really busy, great service from staff. Loads of parking spaces but gets full quickly as it's free council parking.

Lovely atmosphere, ideal semi-rural location and excellent food.

Dog friendly pub with good vegetarian options.

The two main courses were very good, gammon and steak pie and mash.After that it went down hill.We finished the mains and were abandoned by the staff. We finally ordered desserts and waited what seemed like an eternity and received a chocolate pud. I couldn't finish it because it was too dry. The service became very poor considering the place was nearly empty. Having said that the pie was excellent.

Top class, good food, excellent service.

This was our first visit and we had a great lunch at this lovely place. I’ve never had such an amazing chicken Caesar salad, my son and husband thoroughly enjoyed their hot dishes (fish & chips and sausages and mash). It’s got great friendly service and lovely setting. It’s very dog friendly. The parking was easy. We’ll be coming back again often.

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and looked after throughout. The waitress was attentive, very informative, gave us time to decide and she was really friendly. The food was beautiful , came out in good time, looked really appetising, good portion sizes, the menu was really good and had a good vegetarian/vegan menu which was nice to see as you don’t get that very often. I would absolutely return again and again, fabulous place to go as food is amazing and the atmosphere is lovely. Would definitely recommend.

I booked a table for 12 people on Saturday for a reunion with school friends I haven’t seen for over 40 years. As usual, the Newbold did me proud. The fire was roaring and the welcome and service was superb. Special shout out to Harry who took all our orders and to Abi who took the photo of us. We all ordered lunch and everyone commented on how delicious and beautifully presented the food was. We had such a lovely afternoon and the fantastic way in which we were all so well looked after was the icing on the cake. Thank you Team Newbold 🩷

Great atmosphere but Sunday lunchtime meant that all tables were booked so no where to sit inside for a drink despite most tables being empty. Service was rather slow but good when it arrived. They have a number of mid week deals.

Well this was a surprise. After a walk on the common went into here for a drink. Great service, drinks and a nice fire. Good end to the day. Thanks to the friendly staff, will be back. I think because we were dining close to Christmas, they were overwhelmed. The service was chaotic ( my son had to catch his burger when it flew off the plate whilst being served) the food was cold and stodgy. Hopefully on a less busy day it may be better

Seated in the corner of the Arms for an Anglo-Greek family and friends catch up, it was difficult to hear ourselves think in any language, such was the cacophony from a large party next door with young children. Our group was politely moved after our drinks had arrived — but before our main courses — to a booth a few paces away where we could speak at ease without trying to strain our voices as if trying to shout to the other side of the Mediterranean. Thankyou to the staff member who spotted our drowning out and took the executive decision to move us. A poly kala late afternoon of contemporary pub mains, a dessert which two shared and conversation then flowed like the Aegean at sunset.

The sunday lunch was fantastic and the staff were excellent

Our group of 9 were impressed by the cosy and relaxed interior. ( 6 hadn't visited before) Due to another overloud group next to us, staff were proactive in finding and moving us to a quieter table. Impressive. On a busy day , drinks and food arrived promptly and each at the same time. Waitress service was excellent. Food was reasonably priced good pub food which everyone enjoyed. Visited today as a family Christmas get together and by complete fault of my own, I hadn’t actually booked. Boxing Day, extremely busy and turned up effectively unannounced late in the day. I didn’t catch the lady’s name but she very kindly managed to accommodate us. Exceptional customer service and, as always, we’ll be back again soon. Thank you.

Me and my family came here for lunch on Boxing Day, and we had the most pleasant and heartwarming experience! The Staff were so friendly. Kaz and Naomi were very friendly and welcoming. The food was insane! I haven’t had a good meal in a long time and I was very satisfied! The duck was cooked to perfection! Reasonable prices too☺️

Didn't take note of our Xmas booking, despite the confirmation email. The manager then left the staff to explain it to us. The food we did have was cold and clearly rushed (to focus on the Xmas parties going on). They did give us a discount, but we left feeling disappointed, which is such a shame as it's normally always a 5 star experience.

Had a lovely family meal at The Newbold Comyn Arms with family. The food was all cooked and presented really well. Plenty of choice on the menu for everyone and all delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it. It was a relaxed atmosphere and they welcomed our dog. What more could you ask for.

We had our staff Christmas dinner last night at the Newbold and it was wonderful. Our table was festively decorated (we even had reindeer ears to wear!) and the food was delicious. Ample portions of everything and extra gravy and roasties if you needed it for your turkey. Such a lovely atmosphere as well. The fire was roaring and the staff attentive. We certainly felt Christmassy. Thank you Team Newbold, you did me proud.

Delicious roast dinner and helpful and friendly staff

Perfect for Sunday lunch with kids. We saw online that there is a play area next to the pub and it is a very good one. The picture doesn't do it justice - kids were playing on other items including swings, seesaw, another slide, etc. The lunch was great too, big tasty portions, and several vegan options.

We went for a family birthday party at the Newbold Comyn Arms. The meal was.lovely. Nice,and not and,well.presented. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, checking the table throughout our visit. Highly recommended.

Went for a large family meal. Our table was ready, no waiting. Food came out together, Yorkshire puddings were impressive, lovely tender meat, more than enough vegetables to go round, cooked just right. Excellent value, and all in a wonderful atmosphere where the staff catered for every ask we had.

Fireworks night was amazing. Not many places do free firework any more and it was a brilliant display, me and the kids loved it! Had the hog roast which was spectacular, compared to normal pork it was so beaitiful and tender. The crackle was beautiful! The kids had hot dogs and a jacket potato which they all loved (super fussy kids normally). Really glad we went was a fabulous night! Xx

Just wanted to share my frustration because I've just had the worst hog roast ever at Fireworks Night. It was inedible that we had to bin it after two bites. The atmosphere was lovely but the food ruined it.

Please Newbold Arms get more sustainable! So wasteful with disposable items for outside dining and hot drinks. There's no excuse for it, it doesn't happen with other pubs outdoors. Set an example, your in a nature spot!

I hadn't been there for a long time. Went for a coffee with a friend and it was a very relaxed atmosphere.

Due to a sudden downpour we ended up here for lunch on Tuesday, and I am very glad we did! We both decided to go with the set menu, which at £19 for 3 courses was a bargain! We had the BBQ & Mayo chicken strips & Asian Crispy Beef Salad, both we very nice but the Asian Crispy Beef is some of the best I have had! For main course we had pie of the day (Beef & Guinness) & Roasted Belly of Pork. Again both were very nice, but the Pork Belly was outstanding! For dessert we had the Winter Fruit Crumble & Mint Chocolate Cheesecake, both very tasty, although we both agreed our favourite was the Mint Chocolate Cheesecake. The service & atmosphere were also great, staff checked on us regularly. The Newbold Comyn Arms is definitely a must for lunch if you are in the area. If we were local we would be visiting regularly!

It was "ok" the Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were very overdone so the kids didn't really eat. There was a mix up with my reservation time and where we were sitting. We've been before and it was so nice, this time not so much.

Disappointing experience. Waited over an hour for food which arrived stone cold. Lots of staff but seemed disorganised. Interior quite tired and seemed dirty.

Always a good quality meal. Portion sizes are great and the price is very competitive. Looking forward to see the winter menu next week. Cannot fault the staff, always happy to help.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Service was outstanding, we were served promptly and had frequent check backs. Food and drinks were delivered to our table quickly! Fastest service I've ever seen! I had roast pork with the cheesy cauliflower and it was amazing! Full of flavour and big portions. Cheesy cauliflower was out of this world!!! I had dessert too (chocolate brownie).. amazing too! Overall I had an amazing meal here and will definitely return! All staff were very friendly, nice and attentive. Thank you!

We didn’t enjoy our fish and chips x 3 there today. Watery fish that didn’t appear to have been cooked for long enough. It was also in far too much batter that wasn’t nice batter. It was all too greasy. Has the chef changed?

Excellent service, lovely to sit in front of the log fire with hot and wholesome food, This establishment offers a wide range of drinks and foods. I visit here in the summer, however it does tend to be very busy.

Food was lovely but sadly it was cold. This has happened the last couple times and such a Shane as the food so lovely. Waitress was lovely hot chocolate was exceptional!

The food was diabolical!! So much so we didn’t eat even 20% of our paper plates. You used to go here and dining plates were bought out, even if you were sat in the garden. The food was also really enjoyable. Thank goodness we’d only spent £35 but that was a complete waste of money. Booked to have a quick bite with the kids after an afternoons mountain biking! Reserved in the covered area and it was perfect! Friendly, food was delicious and SUPER generous portions! Will definately go back! Homemade burger a must!

Service was quick, atmosphere was pleasant, but disappointed by the ~Sunday roast: 2 thin slices of beef, not properly roasted, more like oven and sauce cooked, roots over cooked or reheated, gravy all over meat and roots, not separate in a sauce-pot as last time, worst baked potatoes. Daughter wasn't feeling well after a kids Sunday roast and a diet coke. Definitely, not coming back for food.

We discovered this brilliant venue when we brought our grandson to the BMX trail next to it. He happily trailed away while we enjoyed the food and drink at the pub. He was allowed to join us for cold drinks and lunch on a boiling hot day in July. Perfect 😍 Excellent, welcoming service and great food. Highly recommend. Thank you very much guys ✅

We had a very nice 90th birthday celebration at the house and orangery. Food was excellent, staff friendly and helpful,and venue was excellent particularly as the weather stayed fine. A lovely place to hold a function.

Good size function room available with its own bar, helpful staff and good food.

You can rarely order food as the kitchen is very small so service is by prior booking only. Not bad for drinks and there is a lot of space outside if it's a nice day

Nice family pub in Newbold common . It has plenty of seating and the outdoor area has children's park. Has a outdoor hut that also serves street food and soft drinks.

Great Sunday roast and great service, and also dog friendly. They don’t add ‘compulsory ‘ service charge on your bill, thats how everyone else should do. Do leave a good tip if you also think their service is great.

Had a lovely afternoon meeting some friends at the Newbold Comyn Arms. Beautiful setting, spacious outdoor areas, great play facilities for children, clean toilets and friendly staff. We had the garden menu, which was essentially a choice between burgers or hot dogs, though there is a more comprehensive menu available indoors. There's veg/vegan options should you so desire, and while none of us did, the woman sat on a table near us was raving about it. Food wise, quality was really good. A little pricey for what it was, particularly as the burger is served with fries but the hot dog isn't, but it was still very good. Quick service - particularly with how busy it was. Car park is free, and it's a lovely place to go for a walk, too. Outside is dog-friendly, too. Absolutely will return. Lovely venue, really good food and atmosphere. It is a little pricey, but I'd argue it is worth it.

Warm and welcoming, excellent range of tray bakes today, unfortunately none of their wonderful sausage rolls available this morning. Best of all, they are really dog friendly as opposed to the all too often dog tolerated establishments.

Lovely afternoon with friends in the garden

Went for a meal as a family, planning on booking a bigger family gathering. We won’t return. The service was terrible. Waitress rolled her eyes when we asked what beers were on tap, she got the food order wrong and generally the wait staff didn’t want to be there. Nobody asked if the food was good or if we wanted more drinks…trying to catch their attention is the challenge. We were a total inconvenience to the staff which is such a shame as the food is actually really good.
