Decided on our wY home to pop into this place for Sunday lunch. What finally arrived in front of me I was shocked for £17 I could have cooked better than this for our bill of over £40. Dried up piece of chicken, over cooked roast potatoes, 1 large brown parsnip, brown over cooked cauliflower cheese and a few carrots, 1 pieve of brocoli and a slice of savoy cabbage. This was poor and basically was fit for the bin. If you're going to offer a cooked Sunday roast all day at least make it edible and look appetising. I Won't be going back here this was very poor food today and Jamie Oliver would give you a very poor rating if you dished that kind of meal up for him.

I used to come to this pub as a young child in the early 1960s with my parents and grandparents. I am now 70 and it has hardly changed at all. How many places can you say that about? Proper pub food, none of your expensive gastro pub stuff. Wonderful old rambling pub inside with little rooms and unexpected steps and twists and turns. Dog friendly too. Also lovely to sit outside by the canal. I hope it always stays the same

OK, pub with good beer, didn't try the food We called again on the way back from Stratford and decided to book a table and have something to eat. When we arrived, the staff were very attentive and polite, and this continued throughout our visit. We order a Nachos share starter, which we both loved. For main courses, my wife had a pie, and I had the duck. The duck was cooked just right and tasted really good. My wife loved her pie. A lovely place to sit outside on a summers evening overlooking the Stratford upon Avon canal. Great pies especially the beef and Stilton served with well cooked chips, vegetables and a good jug of gravy. Good prices too. Having booked for lunch for 6 and spending well over £200, leaving a generous tip and buying 6 of the pies to take away, the food being good we returned for an evening meal 3 days later. Popped in to book a dog friendly table but none were available, but we're told we could eat outside and food was served until 8pm, which is also advertised on the website. Wandered up off our boat and arrived at 7:30 only to be told this time that the kitchen was closed as they had been busy!!!! (a) Why were we not informed at 5:30 to come earlier when we popped in, surely the staff must have known they had been busy all day. (b) Is it too much to ask staff to work until the end of their shift these days. It's a good job medical staff don't have this attitude. (c) Stick to your advertised times

After coming across Fleur de Lys on line my partner & I decided to take the 52 mile round trip to enjoy the high rated garden/ canel area in the sunshine. Unfortunately on arrival we were stopped on entry to be informed we needed to pay £15 each as there was a outside fun day event. We was told we couldn't sit outside to enjoy a drink & could only stay inside unless paying the £30. As you can imagine this was extremely disappointing & frustrating. Checking the website there was no advertisement for this event otherwise we wouldn't have gone to all this effort to visit the pub.

Such a lovely setting but massively disappointed with the food. Two of our party ordered a chicken and bacon salad and it came with basically no bacon and zero dressing. Such a shame when pubs do this - it’s so lazy. Just some chicken on some dry lettuce with some tomatoes and cucumber basically. Very disappointing, especially for £16!!! Would have returned it to the kitchen had we not been seeing old friends we hadn’t seen for a long time so didn’t want to cause a fuss. Plus we had two toddlers in toe so not easy to juggle kids and complaining. Not the staffs fault, but the chief needs to rethink their menu if they think that passes for a £16 salad.

Disappointed. Being local we have often popped in for food and/or drinks. Ordinarily the Sunday lunch is lovely but today it was very very disappointing. The beef was over cooked and chewy there were bits I didn’t even attempt to eat. No gravy. I asked once she didn’t return with any. I found a member of staff at another table and asked him, he was dealing with a request for gravy from two diners who had pies and no gravy. The carrots were ok although stone cold the cubes of an indistinguishable vegetable were raw uncooked and inedible. With so much competition in the area and having championed and supported the pub since covid it’s disappointing the food wasn’t up to at least an average standard

When you go out for a meal it’s a treat, a break from cooking yourself. We hadn’t been for years and thought we would give it a try, I chose the Steak and Ale pie, expecting tender meat in a rich gravy. I don’t know what was in the pie, I found some meat among the congealed jelly like substance, very unappetising and tasteless. On the plus side the pastry was vey nice. Dessert was lovely I had crème brûlée with strawberry and clotted cream, 2 strawberries would have been nice. I also noted the main meal was served on a small plate, slightly bigger than a side plate. The waitress did come over to ask if everything was ok with the meal but shot off before anyone could answer. We won’t be going again.

Disappointing as we'd been there on numerous previous occasions and had always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The menu sounds good but the food was not great; the vegetarian special was small and so microwaved that the tart's crust was chewy, the fish very small and we had to ask for the garlic bread which should have accompanied the linguine dish. Overall, rather average and judging by the lack of other diners on a Friday evening, it's been this way for a while. It's such a shame.

A group of us somehow managed three courses, but spread over a couple of hours due to the quality and quantity of the food. The pub is ideally suited next to the canal and the car park can be busy. Inside seating must be booked, and is on several levels so let them know when booking if you have access needs. Outside tables - some under cover - are first come first served. Pies are the speciality with a wide range supplemented by specials and if you really enjoy them you can buy chilled or frozen to take home. Good choice of beers including options for draught alcohol free

Awful selection of real ales.... it's a Green King pub but hasn't served Abbot Ale since 1799...tonight with a huge Rugby Union match, they even run out of Green King IPA... staff don't care, take it or leave it policy. Avoid like the plague....
