Lovely dinner, food was delicious and the waiter Stewart was very helpful and friendly

This is the third time I’ve eaten at the Q&C. The second time i’ve ordered a steak here. The third time i’ve had a thoroughly disappointing experience here. I didn’t say anything on the check back because I was starving hungry & just wanted to eat. If your going to charge £30+ for a ribeye please cook it properly. The standard of M£B pubs feels like a steady decline. Which sucks because you’ve taken over most the nice destination pubs around here. I had better experiences eating there when it was a beef eater years back. I’ve spent 20+ years of my life in hospitality, you guys need to do better. .

We had a lovely lunch here in the restaurant. Our waiter Stewart was fantastic. He made our lunch with friends really enjoyable. We were given plenty of time to choose from the menu, and asking for extra time was no issue. The ‘special dishes of the day’ were described really well- making them an easy choice for all four of us. We were given plenty of space but Stewart was always nearby to ply us with more drinks, desserts, coffee’s etc. The bar and restaurant were clean and bright, and the setting opposite the castle, really makes this place one you want to return to. The staff, particularly Stewart, have a really good way about them, like they enjoy what they do. This says volumes for the mgt team.

What a superb place for Sunday lunch , on arrival I was worried how busy it was , but you did not disappoint , absolutely wonderful from start to finish . We were shown to our table by a very friendly lady do not know her name but she had pig tails. We were served by Danny and Charlotte who were both very attentive . Thank you for a lovely experience

After having some mixed food we went for sunday lunch with 4 friends with some trepidation….. no need to have worried everything was great ! Service by Stuart fabulous …thank you …and the best Sunday roast for a long time can’t recommend this place more !!!

It’s a great location and the service was excellent. The meal……the starters were good but my main course of risotto was VERY stodgy. We weren’t offered water or a wipe (my husband had prawns), or extra Parmesan on the risotto. A disappointing meal!

I have lived in Kenilworth for over 30 years and the Queen and Castle has been a regular favourite venue, so it deserves to get feedback for poor experiences and well as good. Three of us went for lunch yesterday. The excessive wait for table service prompted me to get the first round of drinks myself. There was an option to order via a QR code on line menu, fiddling about with phones and apps is not what I want to be doing when I come to relax. I believe a friendly, efficient waiting staff bring real value to an enjoyable 'eating out' experience. Another trip to the bar was needed as a glass of merlot wine was returned as undrinkable. The serving staff immediately replaced it with a Shiraz, which was fine, but 'come on!' merlot is largely chosen in pubs because it should be of a reliable quality. Another trip to the bar was to order our food which arrived in good time. The peppered squid was tender but just tasted of cornflour. The small amount of sauce that came with it was sweet and mildly spiced, but a very dull plate with no garnish or attempt at presentation. My chicken salade was drowned in a sweet savoury dressing and had little texture of variety. A crab sandwich turned out to be an open sandwich with about 20 grams of crab somewhere within an overpowering toasted creamy, cheesy sauce sitting on a slice sourdough. The fries were good. A fillet beef sandwich was tender but had toasted bread (maybe no fresh bread) which was not what the dinner woud have chosen. This feedback is long because a lot of resonably small things things spoiling the quality of our experience. Hey, the sun was shining and we loved being together, but there are much better value experiences available.

Came here last week, enjoyed the fish and chips with my partner- the portion sizes were fab, and the fish wasnt too greasy. Our waitress Emily made us feel very welcome and was very attentive, ensuring our drinks were topped up and we werent left with empty plates for too long. Cant wait to come back again in a couple weeks.

Been here a few times now. Such a lovely place to visit when in Kenilworth. Staff are always friendly and helpful. My wife and I would like to thank Sara for helping us with our menu choices. The food was fabulous. The drinks were nice too.

We had an extremely lovely Sunday lunch at Queen and Castle. They catered very well for children and for gluten free. The service was excellent and Stuart went above and beyond for us, particularly for our 2 year old daughter!

Food was cold and overall disappointing and we have visited lots & lots over the years its been a favourite as a couple. But on this occasion as a family the food was meh. And didn't not marry up or deserve the price tag associated to eating here. Prawn starter so dry and flavourless, mains were just cool in temperature for Sunday dinners and the chicken was to pink and left on the plate and the melt pudding did not melt as the chocolate sauce was cool again. & items missing off the plate. Ordered cola's given pepsi. I'm disappointed when you pay £££ for food, and it's not even hot. It became embarrassing in the end and standards were poor. 167 for 5 and 2 were kids. No one checked everything was okay while we were eating only after to collect the plates. I'm not tempted to return. In response respectfully we kept informing/ asking for assistance from the server. She was aware I had asked her / told her food was cold, items missing, things weren't what we had ordered. It became embarrassing and frustrating and I'm out with my family I'm not the type to demand for a manager and kick off so instead I wrote an honest review detailing our costly experience. We were reasonable to human error but it became laughable how poor the service and food was overall. Servers collected a full plate of food back and still completely ignored the standard of the food and service provided. I have no plans to return it was not only costly for us but also poor experience

Lovely place have been to before, took my wife and kids for an early Mother’s Day meal, the only down side to this place is definitely the deserts, must have spent between £30-40 and the two chocolate bombs my wife and son had did not melt with the hot sauce unfortunately which was quite disappointing especially for my son, my strawberry and rhubarb crumble was bad for the price I gotta say, the bowl was not deep and it had no crumble on it or not enough to call it a crumble, it did look like compot was poured at the bottom then the crumb and then microwaved for 30 seconds, we do like this place but will never be ordering dessert again which is a shame, when those kinds of prices are being charged the customers expectation is through the roof, I bought this to our servers attention but no attempt to do anything about it other than an apology from the chef which we accepted as he was a very busy man, mains and starters were great, please bring back the steak and baby onion and baby mushroom pie was sad to see that pie go that was my reason for always going there.

We spent a lovely Evening here for my Birthday with my Son & Daughter in law, we were looked after by Sarah who made it so special for us, nothing was too much trouble for her, she explained about the meals and her Personality was so warm & friendly. The meals were excellent, I chose the Double Pork it was Amazing. We will definitely be returning to this lovely restaurant. Thankyou for looking after us Sarah. Xx

Adjacent to Millennium Way: Kenilworth Castle Circular, this two-story restaurant offers delicious food in a friendly atmosphere, both indoors and outdoors. It provides great value for money and has free parking. The price is reasonable, cost-effective, and there is free parking. The waiters, including Stuart, were attentive and helpful.

The meal, comprising starter, main course, and dessert, was exceptional. However, the service significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. The inconsistent service from multiple staff members created a disorganized and haphazard atmosphere. Securing attention required actively flagging down passing staff or those engaged in other tasks. Our initial server was unavailable for the remainder of the meal, culminating in service from an employee whose attire was unkempt and unprofessional. Furthermore, the manner in which the water was delivered, announced as "tap water" in a pointed fashion, was inappropriate. While the meal itself was superb, the subpar service negatively impacted what should have been a celebratory birthday dinner. Reply: Unfortunately, service is as important, if not more so, as the food you served with bad service, which leaves bad taste, which overshadows and exceeds the food quality! If you're not a friendly environment, you are not comfortable eating! Poor quality food cold food can be a quality control or supply issue that can be excused! Bad manners etiquette and poor dress are a choice that is inexcusable! Therefore, it's unlikely to get a return visit. I do appreciate your reply.

The Pub was large with decent facilities, one of the staff members blond female, was abrupt and not plesent, rest of the staff were great. Food was amazing, both taste and presentation, not a fan of Dogs in restaurants, especially when they are not groomed. Took a little while to be served, food came fast, but a little wait for drinks, it was the weekend, so this may not always be the case.

Food was as expected, however felt rushed as we were told they needed to turn the table around quickly, then the main course took an age to arrive. Missed a drink with dessert but they were apologetic when pointed out. The table service was attentive but again we felt we were being watched to finish so they could turn the table for the next booking. Would go somewhere else next time. Pub and restaurant were clean, tidy and nicely appointed, parking area was very busy.

Went for lunch as it was my Dad's birthday and he passed last April so it was the 1st birthday without him. Was disappointed though, the food was not great I had the salad with chicken and tge chicken was tough and the salad was mostly tomatoes definitely not worth the rice. My Auntie also had the sald but with beef and her beef was also tough so the waiter had some fresh cooked for her. We waited ages for someone to take our desert order and then had a wait fir the bill. Thus place has always been spot on so not sure what has happened 🤔

I had been looking forward to my sunday lunch all day, we couldn't get in till 15.30 so had a drink in the bar area. Got shown to our table which was nice...then it all went down hill. We had the roast for 2 served on the platter. The meats were tastless, yorkies were hard and crisp, roast potatoes were hardly roasted and hard the veg was hard...it felt like we had the dreggs of sunday lunch served to us. I was so disappointed...will not return.

It was rammed on a Tuesday lunchtime which is always a good sign. We were served by Stuart who recommended the chicken, Ham and cheese pie from the specials menu which we chose and was excellent, as was he throughout our lunch. Can't wait to go again....

As a group of 10 including 2 children it took time for us to order food, then progress to desserts. This cost £400+. After 2 hours 15 minutes we were asked to vacate the table in 15 minutes. This was not the relaxed end to a birthday meal we expected, if we had been advised of a time restriction we would have planned accordingly. I find this unacceptable and we will not return to this restaurant.

Love this place!! We always come for firework gala and I asked to come for valentines!! The food is outstanding every time. Wine selection is 👌. However twice we met Stuart.. always so pleasant and goes above on beyond. On this occasion there was no seating in the bar and he carried us some. Chairs and table through… very kind. Queen & Castle Country Pub and Restaurant I first visited the Queen & Castle country pub and restaurant back in December 2018. The pub is located in the ancient and picturesque town of Kenilworth and sits opposite the magnificent Kenilworth Castle, which dates back to the 12th century. Having completed a half-circuit of the castle’s perimeter walls on what proved to be a wet and rather dreary winter’s day, I was more than ready to join other members of the family for lunch. I don’t recall what we ordered from the pub’s All Day Menu but we all agreed the food was delicious and the service exemplary. Since 2018, I’ve visited the Queen & Castle on four occasions and the food and drink and service have always been top-notch. My visits have always been in the autumn or winter, so I’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying lunch in the pub’s garden, but it is charming. The All Day Menu starters include pan-fried scallops, chicken liver and fig parfait and sea-salt and cracked black pepper squid and mains include a wide range of choices from freshly battered line-caught cod and chips, burgers, premium cut steaks and lamb and pork dishes. The menu also offers a mouth-watering selection of Mediterranean inspired dishes including a fabulous king prawn, crab, Ortiz chorizo linguine and scallops (a personal favorite). The Sunday Lunch Menu (particularly the now legendary delicious Trio of Roasts – roast beef, pork and chicken with all the trimmings) in terms of volume and quality, would surely have rivaled any dish laid on by Elizabeth I’s favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester and owner of Kenilworth Castle. Reassuringly, the Queen & Castle has no shortage of patrons: every time I’ve visited the bar and the dinning areas have been very busy with a good mix of locals and tourists. The dinning areas are ideal for large family gatherings and children are always welcome (our grandchildren adore the place). Given the high quality and popularity of its lunches, Sunday’s are always busy and I strongly advise booking a table well in advance. This is a wonderful pub if you're looking to go somewhere for a good meal with friends. We visited recently and everyone came away happy with their meal. The staff were all really friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy with everything we had. The service was quick too and food arrived in less than 20 minutes, despite the pub being really busy. Would definitely recommend.
