A great pub for fish and chips, but the Sunday roast beef was appalling. Over cooked, dry and tough. That said, the staff were really good and service was quick. Would go back, just not on a Sunday.

Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon here. Had the Mediterranean salad and some drinks out in the garden whilst there was a cute craft fair going on. Loads of space and perfect for a mid walk stop. Service only a 4 as you have to do a fair amount of self serve.

My husband and I were staying locally, and went to The Red Lion, for lunch. Lovely meal, attentive waitress, and if we lived in the area would definitely use again.

We were just looking for a pub with a beer garden to enjoy a meal in the evening sunshine and didn't this place deliver. The gin was excellent and we shared the camenbert with fresh bread and chutney to start. HRH then enjoyed a succulent double burger with extra bacon and fries whilst I was mightily impressed by my sea bass in a lovely buttery herb sauce cooked in foil. As I live in Cornwall, being extremely impressed by a fish dish in landlocked Warwickshire was an unexpected delight. First rate dining al fresco experience. 🍸

Absolutely awful food today. Sunday 11 aug. Ate some of it because I was starving after traveling. Doubt I’ll ever come here again. Not even rating the food. The 79,000 flies love it tho.

Called in for Sunday lunch ...it was absolutely awful..it was inedible....potatoes burnt black.... tbh they had been hanging around so long the inside had vanished ....yorkshire pudding so stale it couldn't be cut...veg soggy i was served cabbage n two green beans....yes two green beans ... meat so dry n tough it could not be cut when I did manage to cut a piece off it was so tough to chew I eventually swallowed it whole...my mother in law was with us n didn't want a fuss....so we feed some meat to our dogs n left....without doubt it is the worst meal I have ever had....staff indifferent n preoccupied chatting.....never ever go here it is absolutely awful....any decent cook or establishment would've been embarrassed to serve this slop.

We visited this place today and have been before.Unfortunately the place hasn't improved And just stayed for drinks which were disappointing enough whilst the menu you booked a poor choice selection.

Drinks were expensive myself amd my daughter ordered a strawberry spritz and her partner had a pimms, really watery with very little taste, after experiencing different spritz elsewhere this was really disappointing, we decided not to eat here after the disappointment in the drinks

We have been many times now and it is a fantastic place to eat. Plenty of free parking, a really cute atmosphere inside and gorgeous British countryside outside. Really fast service and the food is delicious. The fish and chips are some of the best we have ever had.

Nice countryside pub, reasonably priced , plenty of parking space, and nice walks to do around. Food was tasty and portions descent. I was just a bit disappointed in the sweet potato fries , they were a bit soggy, which is a shame as I paid extra for them. Would go back nevertheless 😊

Drove by on Saturday on way to cricket and thought it looked a lovely location, so returned on Sunday for a roast dinner. Unfortunately, and perhaps it was because we were the first of the day, the beef was too tough to cut, let alone chew. When we explained to the waitress the issue, we were offered steak knives but declined as we would have needed our teeth sharpening as well. Great location, nice relaxing place but shame food was so poor and certainly not value for money,

Nice setting by the river. Also, had live music on in the garden too! Not a place for if you’re an ale drinker though. Both the Ubu (served headless btw) and the Guinness were left - maybe the pipes needed cleaning! Young bar staff probably need more instruction on pulling a pint. Conversely, went to the Stag in Offchurch after: lovely pint and lovingly poured.

Worst meals ever had ...... no wonder so many pubs are closing down. Beer has always been excellent but the menu always leaves a lot to be desired

We have visited many times over the years but mostly just for drinks in the garden. This time we came for an evening meal. From the moment we arrived, the service was friendly, attentive and welcoming. Despite the restaurant being busy, it was immediately noticed when we needed assistance. The food was excellent (as were the drinks) and good value. Our "gluten free" person was able to have a proper gf option: there was plenty of gf choice. The staff were very aware and proactive. Our seating was cosy and relaxed, ideal for a family get-together. Definitely recommended!

Tried this local a year ago and was disappointed with the food. Decided to try it again last night and the food was appalling. Burger was like compressed cardboard and the bacon was slightly larger than a 50p piece. Don’t waste your time - a trip to McDonald’s would serve you better.

We ordered the creamy mushrooms as a starter which arrived with our main meals they were cold and definitely not creamy chicken burger over cooked steak burger was also overcooked and the beer was warm it’s such a shame as lovely beer garden I hope things improve

Cool on a hot day,excellent choice of beers, very helpful staff, well worth finding. The ice cream honeycomb and chocolate mint excellent and very reasonably priced. Salad with the ploughman’s lunch superb, and smoked cheddar an imaginative choice.

Rude and aggressive manager, When we were at the bar he treated his staff with utter contempt and was happy to swear behind the bar about how his problems were someone else's issues. We were planning to have lunch but his childish, rude and petulant manner resulted in us having our drinks and leaving. I pity the staff that have to work for that man. A very unpleasant individual that should respect his staff not bully and be disrespectful to them especially not in front of customers. A nice setting but he lost our custom on the spot. Even as locals we will not be returning, until he is gone.

Lovely alfresco dining, went for Sunday lunch. Gluten free options were just to remove things from the plate, hence the 4, otherwise the food was tasty.

Been coming here for over 10 years now. Always excellent beer, food, and wine.

There were 19 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. I had the bass which was delicious and my friends loved the Roast. We were visiting the nearby campsite and am sure we will be back again. Very friendly and helpful!

Went for drinks and dinner outside, setting is lovely but food quality was poor, the burger was really not nice and looked like very cheap meat. The pizza was also very basic. It’s a shame as we’ve been going for years but seems they’ve changed things and it’s not anywhere near as good.

Talk about set up for the season, this place has it all. Service, food quality and price was outstanding. Must of been 100+ people and you wouldn’t have known. Not an empty glass in sight. Well done to all the staff, chefs and managers. You’ve got it right.

First visit and a very 'trendy' place where it seems some customers just visit to show off their cars! Nevertheless, great atmosphere, nice setting, plenty of outdoor seating, good beer.... but need to bring the Maserati next time! 🤣

I went with a friend at lunch time. Not too busy. Excellent service. I chose the fresh fish which was cooked nicely. My friend had fries and a burger which she said was good. Overall I'd recommend it.

Dropped in for a quick pint and a coffee at this pub we’ve visited many times over many years. Before the details I’ll just qualify by saying the food and location has always been excellent here so don’t judge the place on one employee. Last night was a whole different experience, entirely due to the barman who patronised me and basically gave the impression he didn’t want to be there. I went to the bar and ordered a pint of IPA on special offer at £3.45 and a latte for my wife. The barman, possibly French with blond cornrow hair, pulled the pint but said there was no chance of a coffee, followed by something along the lines of the machine is only on in the week/has been broken for a week. I ordered my wife a ginger beer which duly came and the barman said “that’s £7.20” as he breathed heavily after puffing out his cheeks in an “I don’t need this” way. The woman working behind the bar with him looked visibly embarrassed. I then questioned whether the price was right as that would make the Fentimans ginger beer almost £4. His response was - and I didn’t mishear this - “you’ve had the cheapest beer”. I questioned it again and he just gave a Gallic shrug. I left it there as people were enjoying their food but called him an “arrogant xxxx” under my breath as I walked away. Sad to see this venue doesn’t know how some of its staff should behave. Have just checked and there’s a slew of one star reviews about this place, many referencing the incredibly arrogant French bloke who clearly shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near customers. Suffice to say we won’t be heading back in a hurry.

Went here on a Friday evening. Live music playing. Managed to get a table for two because someone had decided to sit outside, so I would recommend booking. Very nice meal, had a pie which was excellent but remember to order potatoes to go with it as they are a side dish, slightly strange. Very friendly staff who were chatty despite being very busy. I can imagine it is very busy in the summer and would be pleasant to sit outside. Would recommend as it cost no more than a chain restaurant and far better quality of food.

Perhaps the best roast in Warwickshire! Wonderful service in a gorgeous location. Highly recommended.

Stunning setting by the river. Definitely the place to be on a sunny afternoon. The bar has a really good selections beers and the food was fantastic, I'd definitely recommend the buffalo chicken burger. The staff were very accommodating and relaxed, which is always nice

Held a birthday meal here for 30 people. From the initial outset of planning to saying good night to everyone on the evening we could not fault them at all. Totally superb. We had the Sunday lunch menu on the Saturday evening (starters and main course) and they catered for everybody’s individual needs, including vegan and gluten-free options. We also purchased several bottles of wine per table. Everybody commented on the quality and quantity of food !! We were also allowed to bring our own birthday cake instead of ordering desserts off the menu. The room was laid out beautifully, and the attention to our needs throughout the evening was impeccable, in particular from Kate. Everybody commented on what a lovely evening they had so thank you all at the Red Lion 🙏🙏

Great location with plenty of parking outside. The service was professional and timely. I had the Sunday Two-Meat Roast which was fantastic. The portion size was large, but the dish wasn’t overly heavy with great quality items. The pork belly was definitely a standout from the other items. I also had the apple and cherry crumble with vanilla ice-cream which was incredibly filling and perfect in balance. The selection of beers on tap were also plentiful. Overall a great location that I would highly recommend visiting!

Just spent a very enjoyable Anniversary lunch with my wife here. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was high quality, hot, plentiful and very reasonably priced. It isn’t our first visit and most certainly won’t be the last.

Fabulous place. The fish & chips with a glass of Prosecco special on a Friday, is amazing. Also Sunday Roast Beef. Highly recommended 👍.

sunday lunch. here you have a chef trying to hard to many flavors on the plate red cabbage with cinnamon. leeks and cabbage.garlic roast and red wine gravy all too much. if the cinnamon had been omited it would have worked. and yes i use cinnamon at home in red cabbage but make this the main player try putting your leeks with the red cabbage.

Went for Sunday lunch, food great, good vegetarian option as well as usual roasts. Both vegetarian option and roast beef very nice. Excellent service, our waitress was really lovely and accommodating to my very elderly mum. Highly recommended.

A bit overpriced in our opinion for what it was, menu options quite limited and rather basic presentation. Won't be rushing back for food, a beer in the garden by the river perhaps when the weather is nice

This was our first visit to the Red Lion, and certainly won't be our last! What a lovely pub in a great location The food is amazing I had the best sea bass meal I have ever had, and the pulled pork burger, that my husband had was just as good. Special thanks to Poppy for looking after us so well We highly recommend the Red Lion

Poor Sunday lunch and very expensive for what it was, I would not go there again. Beef was over cooked and tough as old boots. I think the potatoes were from frozen, cauliflower cheese was rock hard, the desert was also a mess

Yep, worth the effort! Burger Monday's , steak Wednesday's and fish and chip Fridays. This at the moment is our go to place for lunch. Table easy to book online, Richard responds personally, loads of car parking and looking forward to dining there in the Summer judging by the amount of outdoor furniture the place must get rammed! So - well worth the effort for the food I reckon, the steak can be a little hit and miss and medium rare means a good vet could have it mooing again so if you can't it it rare then make sure you let them know, luckily I'm an ardent carnivore. Service on the Wednesday lunch time we went was a little sketchy but not a show stopper and in fairness I think Livvy was doing all covers. Only comment I would make Richard is that when it's chucking it down with rain, perhaps the staff that smoke could do it round the back instead of at the main entrance, as an ex smoker I get havi g a ciggy but it wad t a good look to be honest. Tried to book and was told I couldn’t as the boss was on holiday?!! They said they had space but just not allowed to book. Craziness!

I booked a table for a family gathering, Richie was able to let us use a table which sat all 28 of us around it! The children were accommodated for and the meals were all served quickly and were hot . We pre ordered and everyone was very happy with their meals. The service was especially good, attention to detail and served with a smile. Excellent venue for such a large gathering, thank you team!

A beautiful little pub just outside Coventry next to the river, the food was delicious and more importantly piping hot /freshly cooked, we were on a birthday celebration and were looked after marvelously with very helpful staff both sides of the bar, My wife had some Napton cider which was very tasty and I had a pint of IPA draught which was good enough to think of a taxi next time,

My third trip recently: this is a great location, super views, and with window seats that allow that gentle relaxed gazing. Service was really excellent, and the food was great (the spiced cauliflower soup is lovely). The beer: interesting choices but not in tip-top condition, something I remember from previous visits re-COVID: is this a cellaring problem? Or is it served too soon? I have not had a crystal clear pint here yet.

When we arrived it was clear the pub was busy. Was a beautiful day and there lots of people in the garden. Planned to order a late lunch for the three of us - that was until we went to the bar and met the grumpy bar person. I wanted to order a cider and was told apple or blackcurrant and when I asked how dry/sweet they were I was told they are ok. I ordered a beer instead. When I asked how long approximately would be the wait for food as we could see they were busy, he just said “a long time” and couldn’t tell me. We paid for our drinks and left. Lost the pub our business, would have been lunches and desserts plus drinks, but thanks to him we walked.
