Great day at the Woolpack on Saturday 10 April. Stayed and enjoyed the Ale, food and VE celebrations. All staff friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

Great village pub! The staff were incredibly welcoming on arrival and throughout the meal, everything was brought in good time and the food was lovely. I had the southern fried chicken burger and it was delicious. The environment of the pub is very warm and we will definitely be returning soon.

Booked a table for 4 fairly late in the day for yesterday evening at 7.30, that seemed quite hard work & should have been the indicator for how the evening was going to progress really. We arrived, got told by the barmaid that the wait for food was 45 minutes to an hour, fair enough although it wasn't particularly busy & there were plenty of empty tables. While we were looking at the menu we got told the wait for food was now over an hour...we were 5 minutes off the cut off time, 7.45, for ordering food at this point. Less than 2 minutes later we were informed that the chef had to leave in a hurry for a family emergency (yes these things happen, I get that & I hope he's ok) but this meant that there was no way we could order, we were a little surprised that no one else in the building was capable of cooking meals that are likely pre made anyway. We left & ended up just making it to another pub up the road. Probably won't return

Such a lovely place to go , I’ve had many family get togethers for birthdays Easter Christmas ect…. Never had a bad meal staff are great owners are great over all such a lovely friendly place to eat and drink

Our 1st complaint was about the new QR code on the table. The manager went to a table of six diagonal to us and told them how easy and wonderfully easy it was to place your order this way. She then came to our table my cousin husband informed her he'd just done this ticked all the drinks, meals and sides for the bill to total £20 , knowing this was incorrect, he went back through it and meals had been removed so my husband went to order at the bar. She then rubbished the app saying it was Marston's that insisted on this method and she preferred the orders at the bar. Two different accounts within minutes. Then to the meals. All bought out one at a time, my husband ordered beef chilli and when bought to the table the waitress said vegetable chilli, my husband heard chilli and claimed it was his, to question the waitress straight away when she bought the next meal out that he'd ordered beef chilli, to which she replied it was beef it had been a slip of the tongue, for her to come back again and say no it was vegetable. The second meal we had an issue with was a Hunter's chicken baguette, which was in fact a breaded chicken goujon with crispy bacon and no cheese, the waitress was informed so a small pot of grated cheese was bought to the table for her to do it herself. The cheese was supposed to be melted onto the sandwich. My husband complained to the manager who's customer service attitude was extremely poor, my cousin didn't want to sit without her meal while they tried to retify it. so declined to send it back. The manager was then asking us what she could do to make it right without actually suggesting anything herself. Then as we were eating another waitress who took the orders at the bar was bought to our table to point out to my husband that he'd ordered his meat wrong that he'd ordered vegetable chilli, he stated he definitely ordered chilli as he'd never ordered vegetable. For the manager to point out again that the customer was wrong. There was no reflection in the bill, either taking my cousin's meal off the bill or offering free drinks or dessert. It was a very disappointing meal and we won't be going back in a hurry or recommending to friends or family. The scores reflect the overall experience

Just had my husbands Birthday celebrations with all the family. The food was lovely and the service was very good.my husband had the rib and chicken combo,he said it was very good. Thanks again see you soon

Only just found this gem of a pub/restaurant after we kept saying for 2 years 'we must try the Woolpack' every time we passed the sign on the A51 on the way to Stone. What a fantastic place, Food Superb, Staff friendly and welcoming overall location 'Stunning', Great place, definitely worth a visit...you'll keep coming back. Love it Ian and Carol Durrant

A fantastic venue for my birthday meal. Just a short walk up from the canal and well worth it. Food was fabulous and service was great. Atmosphere was very good and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended if you are in the area and in need of a great meal.

Was hoping to be able to leave a good review as haven’t tried the food for some time. Unfortunately the hunters chicken tasted of nothing, I’m sorry to say. Didn’t want to complain as I was out in company, but their meals were flavourless too they told me later. Such a nice pub to go to if you would like a drink though.

Superb service from start to finish staff, owners and overall feel was 10/10 from entrance. Food was fast service and cooked to high standard, portions was amazing and great meal. Food was Hot and cooked to perfection. Beer was great fresh crisp taste. I would highly recommend this pub. I will definitely be going back here at my next availability.

Not the worst not the best for the price.Generally the meal was ok. Pacifically ask the manager I would like my steak blue but charred on top. Despite the chefs best efforts it came back pink in the middle(great) but grey on top with the odd griddle mark. When shown how a Pittsburg steak rare looks on google, I get every excuse from the they cook it differently, from we don’t have our griddle this hot and just walked off brilliant! 😂 It’s not that hard just cook the dam thing like a couple of drunks cook a sausage at a bbq. Burnt on top pink in the middle 🥴. Had a laugh very strange !

Yet again a lovely family meal at the Woolpack. Debbie and Martin are so welcoming and all of the staff are very helpful. The food as always was lovely.

Been there many times and it is very good every time, lovely food, beer and great events. Most recently went for a bingo night and had pie and chips, with 2 vegetarians coming they were very happy with all the veggie options over the menu and the broad range of drinks and offers.

Great pub, eaten here many times with family and also with a large group for a work Christmas meal. Food and service have always been excellent and the pub is in a great location with the green outside!

Bad, bad, bad. Retrain the manager and retrain the staff so that food arrives as stated and shown in the menu or, me (the customer) is given an early opportunity to change their meal without finding missing items when delivered to the table. It's basically a trust issue and the manager was aggressive and dismissal of me. I even received a ban from the place. I had not imbibed alcohol I might add.

We are just home from a fantastic birthday dinner. The Woolpack is such a lovely place, the atmosphere is friendly, the staff are very attentive and welcoming. The food was hot, tasty and a great variety on the menu. We’ve not been for a few years, but will definitely return soon. Highly recommend

Went to the Woolpack because I like the pies, or thought I did. The steak and ale pie was delivered and it looked pretty good, a bit light on the peas but otherwise it looked good. The first cut told the story, microwaved. The pastry was hard to cut as is the case with soggy microwaved pies. I spoke to the waitress and she confirmed that they microwave them and then put them in the oven. These ones were obviously not in the oven long enough. She also said that they had changed the pies and some people like the new ones, I definitely don't. Shame really as I did used to like going to the Woolpack for the pies.

Came for Christmas Eve meal with family. Lovely venue and atmosphere, friendly staff and great, sensible priced food. Definitely recommend.

Great pub lunch. Very friendly greeting by the staff on first entering the pub. The building itself is full of character, really beautiful. Nice choice of real ales, all very well kept. The menu had great choice and arrived quickly. Every one of our group commented on how nice it was. Thank you so much for looking after us.

We come here every week when we can...my mum and I honor a tadition of our family over the years dining here. We have always been treated as we are part of this place and welcomed. It means alot, the dog is fussed, and we feel the most comfortable. The food is always beautiful, the desserts put us to sleep (much to the staffs pleasure lol). Just a joy to come here. Thank you

This place is a beautiful counry pub. Fantastic staff and owners. Beautiful food and lovely relaxing atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Give it a go you won't be disappointed.

very nice people and very fast service

Visited for a club Christmas meal, left very disappointed. Manager was moaning we had all come in our own cars and the car park was full, that was before we had got in there. Garlic mushrooms were hard and the main was bland, hard roasties and turkey was very dry. Desert was the best part of the meal, banoffee pie. Staff were attentive until they had served the mains and then they disappeared. I think they were busy organising their own meals as they were sat down eating when we left. If this is how they treat their customers then you can understand why they're all closing. If you've got a party of 13, surely the food and service should be impeccable🤔. If not, those 13 people go away and mention it to at least 3 or 4 more people and then your reputation has been ruined. 🙄 Beautiful pub though, just needs improvements.

Called in on the off chance for lunch. Staff were very welcoming and service was excellent. We both ordered the surf and turf, steak was spot on for how we wanted it cooked and everything else on the plate was cooked perfectly. I would certainly recommend dining here and we will definitely be back.

A very accommodating and friendly village pub. We have a nervous dog that doesn't like other dogs and the landlady and staff were exceptionally helpful in finding us a table that was suitable. We also revisited later in the week toeat and the food was very good. We are due to visit again in a few days as we're passing by on the canal again.

Great historical pub, authentic low ceilings, hand carved beams, and a large outdoor heated space.

We have visited The Woolpack for many years just for a drink and everything has been lovely- our recent lunch experience was awful- the room felt very cold- the food was dreadful-garlic mushrooms overcooked- I had scampi- they were like little bullets- so overcooked and tasted of nothing- what appeared to be oven chips were overcooked-pastry on the steak pie was soggy! at least the food was hot! we didn't want the mither of sending it back- on reflection we should have- I don't like leaving bad reviews- it was bad & it really spoiled it for us.

We did a breakfast with Santa here. It’s a really nice pub. It has that traditional village pub feeling. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking to the side and it has a lovely outside space.

We attended the woolpack for Christmas meal and comedy night. The service and atmosphere is always lovely but this night was off the charts amazing!. As always the quality of the food was 10 out of 10 and the service was perfect. The comedian "our Trace" was brilliant! Much laughter had by all! Looking forward to our next visit! We'll done team Woolpack!

Really lovely pub on a village green. We had reserved a table for four with a dog, but when we got there, the table we had been given in the bar was under the dart board right in the corner and next to the toilets. We asked if there was another table, and they moved us into the lounge. Unfortunately, the dog had to go in the car as there were no dogs allowed in that area, which was a downside to the evening. I'm a light-sensitive epileptic and the room they put us in had flashing Christmas lights. I mentioned it, and immediately they changed them to static, which was absolutely brilliant of them. The food was good, two mega mixed grills, a chicken tikka and kebab meat, and flat bread, although my meat and flatbread were a little cold. It was a really cold night, so it might have been that the heat on the meat and bread didn't stay for long as the plate was warm. Overall it was a good evening, just a shame that the table in the bar was a bit rubbish and that our dog couldn't come in. I've put a picture of her with this post to show how upset she was. 🤣 The photo wasn't taken st the time.

Stopped off here to catch up with friends and had a great lunch, a very village style pub, loads of space inside, and plenty more outside if the weather permits. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

The beer was fresh and the food both good value for money and of a good standard for the type of pub. Great atmosphere and service. As a party of four we have eaten at The Woolpack previously and we will be returning. We travelled 30 minutes to get to Weston which is testament to our overall experience.

Not been before 4 a meal,it was busy but all the staff were lovely and we didn't wait long 4 our meals and we all enjoyed thwm ,we deffo b bad ,reasonably priced and dog friendly excellent.

Today we were served by Courtney who was friendly and professional. My wife had an unusual request to combine some starters to make a main, the staff combined this together to come out as a platter and she was happy they made this accomodation for her. The food was lovely and represented good value for money and arrived in a timely manner. We frequent the Woolpack regularly and will continue to do so. An excellent pub with fantastic owners and staff.

We went last night and was really busy, as it was payday. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had the mega mixed grill which was spot on and my mom had the steak and ale pie which was also great. Had a really nice time and the staff were really good. We will come more often.

We met with a friend for an evening meal. The pub was quite busy but the staff very very friendly and efficient. We had a mixed grill, rump steak and scampi. All meals were nicely prepared and were tasty. We decided we had room for puddings so ordered a jam sponge and custard and 2 banoffee tarts. All were superb. What really stood out in this pub was the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We also liked the variety of food offered on the menu at reasonable prices.We will return!

Lovely cosy pub, greeted by Debbie who took us to our table, very friendly and helpful ☺️ We ordered our food and drinks at the bar and the lovely young girl brought our drinks over to us which is a big help to me as I use a walking stick. Food came within a good time and was all really lovely. Staff are very polite and helpful, I need to mention Archie especially, he is such a polite and lovely young man and made sure we had all we needed, he is a credit to you. A wonderful visit and will most definitely be back xx

What a pleasant surprise! Passing by on our narrowboat, we took our dog too and had dinner in the bar. Friendly staff, great food and we had a 30% off voucher - amazing value. We’ll definitely return here!

Were regulars, took a friend for dinner on Bank holiday Monday. Pub quiet hardly any staff on, had a to wait a long time for someone to take booking, when meal arrives no steak knife had to ask for tartar sauce another wait then asked for mustard blank look, had to go and ask. Ordered dessert after 30 mins nothing had to re order then another 20 odd minutes we were actually at bar cancelling dessert when it turned up. Overall our guest was not impressed and neither were we.

Food was freshly cooked and well priced. Plenty of drink options. Owners and staff very friendly. Dogs are welcome. Overall a great pub to unwind and relax in.

Beautiful fish and chips..don't change anything about them...twice I've had them and both times I've REALLY enjoyed them. Service is very friendly and attentive too...thank you 🙂

Arrived at 12 and got a drink and seated straight away. I chose the cowboy burger with fries and it was so delicious! I got my order very quickly and efficiently. Suzie made me feel welcome and relaxed as I was on my own :)

Just had a late lunch and a pint. Fantastic food, great pint of Marstons Pedigree. All the staff were very warm and friendly and the atmosphere was homely. Clean tidy and a wonderful experience. Very nice traditional country pub. Went with friends for a birthday celebration. We had a surf n turf, two mixed grills and the vegetarian chilli. Mixed grills were of a good size, not too big. The surf n turf was very good and the veg chilli was also very good. Look forward to going back there.

Had the lunchtime special, it came on a child's plate... the portion was shockingly small for not a small price

Lovely friendly staff. Food Is so tasty with a large selection to choose from. Food is great quality for such a good price.

Ordered steaks with quinoa salad for 3 people. Order took over one hour to arrive and all came without quinoa salad and just a simple lettuce salad. Waitress apologised saying that they had run out of quinoa salad. Nothing offered to replace it. Spoiled the meal and whole experience.

Been here a couple of times always had a lovely meal with great service. 1st visit on a Sunday for lunch, we had 2 beef and 1 chicken, the beef was lovely and melt in the mouth vegetables cooked just right. Chicken was really tender. 😊 Puddings went down well, jam sponge, sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate banoffe tart. Again lovely. We had the pleasure of Courtney being out server today she was lovely very attentive and really helpful, what a little treasure 😊

Food was excellent and definately value for money with very good service (Cheerful and with a smile!!) and as an added Bonus the Marstons Pedigree was awesome, well done all👍👍

Went the 1st time today for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely beautiful food , beautifully presented and so nice and HOT . Loved it. We also had a dessert which was also so yummy. Loved the pub itself and where it is situated is also stunning.
