The Poachers Cottage in Stafford

My partner and I quite enjoy salmon for a main meal and was pleased when we saw it on the Harvester menu,so we traveled to our nearest one which was about 30 minutes away,on entry we were taken to a table and given the menus and ordered drinks and the salmon,we were then given a bowl to help yourself to salad which we did and sat down to eat it,we had just finished the salad when the waitress came to us and they hadn’t got any salmon and did we want to choose something else,the menu wasn’t very interesting but we chose the chargrilled chicken ,if we had known this when we ordered we would have just had the drinks and gone elsewhere,we had arrived at around 1-50 and it was now 2-40 when the meal was served,nothing special and looked more like a child’s portion,the was a table of 4 close by who were complaining about certain things missing and meals not available and a chap on his own who ordered fish and chips only to be told they hadn’t got any,the place wasn’t overly busy and I can see why,very poor.

We booked using a wowcher gift card for mother's day. We were told there was a select menu but that it catered for gluten free or could be adapted. We haven't visited for a few years but have always had good experiences before. On this occasion however, upon arrival the staff seemed nonchalant with an attitude of 'this is what we've got, take it or leave it.' There was only one option available on the select menu that was gluten free so we asked if we could pay the difference and order something else from the rest of the menu to which they said yes. When it came to paying the bill at the end, we were told we couldn't use our gift voucher afterall as the "terms & conditions hadn't been met" and so we were made to pay for the full bill ourselves and are now left with a voucher we cannot use. Disappointed!

I even declined visiting with a 50% voucher off main meals. That tells you how bad it is here!!! LOL

Brilliant time here. We had Tom and he was the best waiter I have experienced. He was very "cheesy" but in the best way. He kept our whole table of 7 entertained and served everything spot on. We would definitely come back. All the food was cooked to perfection. Salad had loads if variety. And pudding was delicious. Highly recommend the chocolate fudge cake. Thank you Tom for making our experience a great one.

Staff working inside on mothers Day were fine, the guy running the front door for the tables, horrendous, "you'll be next you'll be next" then wait 45 minutes after booking time started

Lovely service today and took care to check menu items for allergens for my son. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the lady that started our order. However, Annie finished serving us and was lovely.

Four of us went. Easy to book a table on the app. Food was very good. I had the Holy Trinity which was superb and huge. Had a voucher and there were system problems so we had to pay at the bar but the staff on duty dealt with it in their stride. Annie was amazing as always. She is so professional and helpful. There are never any problems when she serves us.

Ice cream placed in order which meant the food was stone cold and no gravy .. very disappointed

Food was either undercooked or burnt ,staff were so rude and arrogant, when told them about food they were smirking, when we went to pay bill we wanted pay seperate as was big family meal we were told to come back as would take 10 mins to work all out so then when went back they used there phone to add the bill up then they did it wrong,shocking experience i will not go again and would not recommend to anyone

Terrible service today on Mother’s Day, long wait on food, incorrect meals given to us. We were told when we first came in that we would only be allowed to have the table for 2 hours the deserts didn’t come out until after 2hours.

We went for Mothers Day as due to work commitments we were limited to availability. Our table was booked for 15.15 and when we arrived there was a crowd of people around the entrance waiting for tables. We were eventually shown to our table and we asked for drinks menu to be told they hadn’t got any they’d be thrown away. I asked for an apple cider to be told they didn’t do apple. On leaving they clearly had apple cider on draught. After 50 minutes we had to ask if someone was going to take our food order. At 5 pm we had just finished our starters. The two children with us were staving. They tried to have something off the salad bar but it was half empty, there was no butter or mayo. Yes I know it was Mother’s Day but they were aware too and should have staffed accordingly. The staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing, didn’t have any customer service, they were slating menus at people , no apologies for the long wait nothing!! One member of our party had to leave after the starters as she had a prior engagement obviously thinking 2 hours would be enough time to eat a meal. All management could say was we are busy., yeah and you knew it would be, that doesn’t account for you staff’s attitude or the fact that we had to ask the for every course!!! This is not somewhere I would normally frequent and know I know why. I wouldn’t bother going unless you like slow, rude service.

Booked a table for mothers day, to be told there is going to be a 45 minute wait until tables are available, did you want to inform my 80 year old mother of this beforehand? Absolute joke, ruined mothers day

Sat outside on dirty tables that when we cleaned it with our own wipes had a patten on it. Ordered food, and after being wrong the first time, we then waited an hour, and no one came back. Daughter went to see where the food was, and it was on the side cold. They sent food out and it was the chicken skewer from 2 hours before and a steak skewer. They were stone cold and dried out. I have a food allergy, and the incorrect first skewer had been on the plate, and juices had gone on the bread. They didn't apologise until we asked for the manager. Cutlery and Salad bowls were dirty. Could have totally ruined Mothers Day, but we didn't let it. So many complaints from other customers too. We will not go back. Oh, and to top it all off, the toilets were flooded inside all the stalls. Dirty tables, some staff not pleasant, male sorting out table bookings did not give good impression. Poor customer service and put me at risk due to food allergies that they were informed about. Worst harvester ever been to.

Horrible experience Ordered food came out wrong asked if we could all eat together as it was going to take another 15 mins took our food no problem not very happy about it but did the starter stayed but as you can see from picture very poor no sauce not what we ordered. When the food finally can back it still wasn't right and the two others had been sitting under the hot plate this was easy as the tartar sauce had a film on and chips were completely dry fish wasn't much better my daughter had the half chicken with again sauce all dried up and so was the chicken Yes the staff offered just to redo my fish but had already sent it back once and been waiting for over an hour at that point. Pictures of how it came back to us minus the sauce as I gave that the lady straight away and had to then ask 5 mins later for it for them to big some kind of cheese sauce finally dif get the right one Staff were just stood there one said and i stat " I'm about to cry i can't cope where is chloe " they were moaning about other staff and managers not what we wanted to hear and also just stood around while there was broken plate and food all over the floor right next to them Worst experience ever

Nice food we were served quickly and the food didn’t take too long and was very nice.Also the young lady Abby who served us was helpful very pleasant and polite.

Kirsty was amazing and made an extra effort to ensure we were all OK, recomemneding dishes and helped my son to choose his menu!

The waitress Kirsty was exceptional and very friendly nothing was to much trouble I’d definitely recommend visiting, we will be returning.

Couldn't of asked for a better waitress Kellie was very kind, making sure that me and my partner was happy with our food. Kellie has served us a couple of times. She is a lovely warm bubbly lady who can't fault at all.

We visited yesterday as a party of 11 for a birthday meal, we had booked but upon arrival we were directed, to two tables apart, were told this was all they had in that area . Not a huge problem however sitting down to find the tables filthy & sticky not good enough. The waitress serving us was extremely abrupt and rude , it was not at all a welcoming atmosphere. My disabled terminal uncle picked to go here for his birthday and when he asked for a steak and chips, we were abruptly told we don't do steak and chips, yet both items are on the menu and when requested separately... It didn't seem to be an issue We had to continually ask for cutlery, all of our salad bowls, plates were left on the table when our mains were coming out , we moved those ourselves, again not a huge issue but when paying over the odds for an average meal....good service would off been greatly appreciated. I only wish I had read the poor reviews prior to our visit! Certainly will not visit again or recommend to anyone either

Abby was amazing, fast and very cheerful with a great smile on her face and approach to the customer. We have been here many times but this is the first time we had such good service. The food as always was great we recommend and we will come back!

Kirsty the server was really polite, helpful and informative. Makes a change to have such good service as lots of places seem to just have staff who don't want to be there and make no effort to be the face of hospitality.

Served by Libbie our friendly and efficient waitress. Disappointed to find no black olives in the salad bar. Otherwise the salad was ok! Just a few sparce containers of salad that needed refilling. Good value Tacco dish at £10 with Cod bites. Enjoyable light meal before we headed off to a Show at The Victoria Hall in Hanley.

We had lovely service off kellie at the Trentham harvester , she helped us with everything nothing was too much for her , the chefs did miss food off our plates but kellie corrected the issues straight away and gave me and my partner a free drink for the kitchens mistakes. If it wasn’t for her service I would have probably not gone back but because everything was sorted out and rectified straight away I will be. Need more staff like her! A massive help.

Let the team know I have a Milk intolerance and was addressed immediately by providing a tablet that showed all allergens related to each dish. Prompt and attentive service by Abby throughout visit with a good quality meal at a good price on a work trip. Great place to unwind and very friendly .

The Mighty burger.... I wish I took a photo. Dry overcooked burger. No sauce or cheese or bacon. Just one overcooked burger, one hash brown and 2 onion rings. For £16.49. And a burnt bun. Didn't complain af time as 11 of us for birthday meal, but really was awful .
