What a lovely restaurant with great staff and lovely food. We actually stayed in the hotel and enjoyed a lovely family evening meal, my daughter said it was the best Mac n Cheese she's eaten, unfortunately I forgot to take a photo. We went back for breakfast and the eggs and avocado were divine! I highly recommend a visit. Laura was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended

Thursday 31st October 2024, My husband and I came here for an impromptu lunch. We had not been here for some time. The Bistro had, had a complete make over and was very bright and fresh in décor and pleasing to the eye. The menu was as extensive as ever and had lots of interesting dishes to choose from. We studied the menu and made our choices and then went to the counter to order and pay for our food. The food when it arrived was served piping hot and was very well presented. My husband had the smaller full English breakfast which included a pot of tea in with the price, which he said was very nice and very filling. I had the three egg omelette with ham, mushrooms and cheese which was served with a dressed salad and golden chunky chips. It was really delicious and very filling. I washed all this lovely food down with a nice latte coffee. It was nice to spend a very pleasant hour and a half here. We will be returning in the not to distant future.

Food was not 5 star, though for me and my family it was exactly what the doctor ordered: generous portions, good tasting fare and, ....the price was very reasonable. Most of all, the chef and his daughter were so friendly, that we had a good natter with them were he explained some of the acts and singers performing there at times. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Btw, a bottle of wine was included within the total price of £48.- feeding 4 of us! Thank You, Chef

We had coffee and cake here after a busy tour of the black and white villages. The homemade scone was delicious as was the aubergine and courgette cake! Coffee was good too! A lovely olde worlde building now a tea room/ restaurant that once was a pub. Definitely a place to go when in the village.

We live locally and thought we should give The George a try for Sunday lunch. We were extremely disappointed! On arrival we were waiting at the bar to be acknowledged for a long time, after eventually being seated at the table we were told by the waitress that she would get us some menus. We waited another 10 minutes for these to arrive and finally be asked what drinks we would like. When the drinks arrived we were asked what we would like. We ordered Camembert and were told that they didn’t have any so we decided to skip the starter. We asked for the chicken breast and beef roast dinners, as an extra we asked for the pigs in blankets but they didn’t have any of these either! When the food arrived I was extremely disappointed to see that the Chicken breast was actually a dried up chicken leg which had obviously been cooked hours ago and kept warm and the same with the potatoes, which were far too hard (not crispy just been kept warm for many hours!) I asked the waitress if there was Chicken breast as it stated breast on the menu, her reply was - well that is a chicken leg! She offered to swap it and I said, oh so you do have chicken breast? She replied no! When our glasses were empty no one asked if we wanted more drinks so we had to stop a waitress and ask her. We then finished as much as we could of the meal and went and paid at the bar even though the drinks never arrived they still tried to charge us for them so we had to ask for them to be removed. For the price of the roast, you can get much much better in the area with great service! I would not recommend the George for food at all but I have heard good things about atmosphere for the live music and drinking in the bar area. The restaurant area was extremely noisy and we were sat very close to a large family group when there was a table further away which would have been quieter. The waiting staff could 100% be friendlier and more attentive.

I’ve lived in Shrewsbury for two years now, and this is by far the best Chinese food I’ve found so far, and I’ve tried a lot of places! The sweet and sour king prawn balls were amazing.

A ladies meet-up, first since 2019 due to Covid-19, and for two of us a first outing, having been in lockdown for 15 months. We were made to feel safe with our window table, we were greeted and looked after throughout by very attentive staff, Stuey ensuring we had everything we needed. Now to the tea itself, well... It looked stunning served on tall, 3 tier, cake stands. Bottom tier sandwiches, very dainty and 4 varieties each... Middle tier cakes, 3 mouthwatering varieties each... Top shelf of course the scones, jam and clotted cream - prompting the usual conversation of jam or cream top or bottom... All accompanied with a pot of tea each, mine was Earl Grey. I can not recommend it enough, but to top it off it was excellent value too!

Absolutely terrible service and a very rude customer service from Hanna. Constantly looking at us and discriminating against us because we are from a part of Worcester she doesn’t like. Definitely will NOT be coming back and will be advising other to stay well clear.
