My wife and I were looking for somewhere different for lunch. The Old Houes, advertises 2 x meals £14.95. We thought we’d give it a try, what a pleasant surprise. Service was good, food was excellent. Choice of menu, good variety. We will definitely be returning.

I had a Brie and beetroot tart with (as described) a full salad, the salad consisted of lettuce leaves half a tomatoe and 2 slices of cucumber, at a cost of £12. I would have expected at least some other salad items ie radish, peppers, spring onions. In my opinion not worth the money. I even had to ask for salad dressing 🤨

Great little pub. Young guy behind the bar was brilliant. Food was good and arrived quickly and was hot. Couldn't fault the service. They even turned down the music!

I took my friend for lunch as I've been lots of times in the past, we ordered a small all day breakfast & a steak ciabatta with chips n salad 🥗. We waited 45 mins for this not so big order & the couple who arrived 25 mins after we had sat down got their meals before us after a much shorter waiting time. The pub was quite busy as it was on a Saturday but to have to wait that long is abit much so I asked the waitress who had just taken the other ones food over whether they had forgotten us?. She replied: oh I think I've seen those meals in kitchen I will check & sorry , but even then we still waited a further several minutes for them to arrive! The food was really nice as usual but the long wait wasn't so good as I was losing my appetite by then! However, we did get a further apology & I will still visit in the future, but hope the food comes quicker & before people who arrive after us!

Called in Saturday for late breakfast before opening time at 12pm. However, door was opened for us at 11.50am with a very welcome smile. We ordered 2 full English breakfast which were served with chips. Food was very good and good value. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Pub very clean with log fire and lovely atmosphere. Large car park and weekday offers on menu.

Went for sunday lunch and what a fabulous meal (two for £16) beautifully cooked and plenty of it certainly more than you would expect for £8. Mid week its two for (14) and the same excellence and quality.reccomend to anyone thank you old house at home will see you again.

Decided to treat ourselves to Christmas Day lunch. We weren't disappointed. The staff were all incredibly friendly, food was fantastic and the service was great. The atmosphere was relaxed and festive and although the restaurant was full, it never seemed crowded or overly noisy. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful lunch.

The old house is my local pub which i have been coming to ever since i was little and never lets me down. i had the vegan lasagna which is a favourite of mine and my girlfriend had a burger which she loved. The prices aren’t too expensive and the staff are always lovely.

First visit and we weren't disappointed! Excellent lunch at great prices. Friendly staff, and nice atmosphere. We'll be going again for sure.

Stopped here on the way home from West Midlands safari the food was amazing and cooked to perfection kids menu was really good they are normally fussy eaters but really enjoyed it and ate it all would highly recommend to any body. The staff are very friendly and helpful aswell.

Had an absolutely wonderful meal, had the Wexford chicken in stilton and mushroom sauce, beautiful tender chicken.chips were crispy.and everything was piping hot. 2 for £14, what's not to like.

This was shocking.. even the salad was rancid, dark brown black on the end of the leaves. Only edible item is chips. How these people keep 2 properties going is beyond me. If this is what you produce with approx 20 covers. God help your customers. NEVER AGAIN NOT EVEN FOR FREE!

been many times but this time could not have been worse . two meals with chicken ,one wexford and one hunters chicken. did not even look like chicken , it looked old and over done. it was replaced with something else but any good chef would never have hade it served (boss did seem botherd)

Great Pub and great staff .Very busy but outside space was limited . Shame as lovely sunny day and gets the sun till late evening .Thought the outside was bigger when I last came but shame that that area has gone. Will go back as great food as always.

Pre theatre dinner for us for the last several years. Always piping hot excellent food. Top Job tho I always have Scampi or fish the O.H tries everything

My son recommended this to us and I have to say the food and service were very good. It did get a little noisy towards the end of the evening but it didn't spoil our night. The prices too were very reasonable compared to other pubs we have been to. So all in all we will go back.

Large car park but no disabled spaces, level access to a small part of the pub, 2 steps down to the main area and the bar, but you have to order food and drinks at the bar. Service was very good but the meals were OK average. Friday night very full and very high noise level due to all the hard surfaces made conversation almost impossible.

First time I have been here and I must say I'm quite impressed excellent ales and the meal was brilliant I had rump steak medium and was very tender nice chunky chips, definitely recommend.

A very disappointing visit for Sunday lunch. The half chicken was off the menu as a choice, as was the pork belly and lamb shank. Settled for beef roast dinner. Beef was mediocre at best but plentiful. Frozen roast potatoes were dry, roast parsnips similar. The broccoli, green beans and carrots appeared to be fresh but tasted very watery. The whole dinner was covered in very thin gravy including a bog standard frozen (but obviously by now soggy) Yorkshire pud. Distinctly average, bland and disappointing really. Puddings fared a little better but if you describe a dessert then try to stick to what you advertise. The lemon sundae professed to have a ‘whole piece of shortbread’ and meringue, shortcake pieces, ice cream etc. there was certainly no meringue or shortbread in the top and the only pieces I could detect further into the glass were a few biscuit crumbs. So basically lemon drizzle, vanilla ice cream and cream then. I hate leaving negative reviews but begrudge paying good money for what was really no better than an Iceland frozen tv dinner.

I have to say the chef and his team need commending on providing an exceptional meal for 8 of us last night. We'd pre ordered from the Christmas menu (3 courses £16.95) and I have to confess I wasn't expecting much more than a pretty standard meal. However, the presentation was well above average, portion sizes were very generous and everything was piping hot including the plates (something that seems quite hard to achieve in some establishments!). Everything was nicely cooked too (no soggy veg or over done roast potatoes) and the service was efficient whilst giving us space to enjoy a catch up. We've been to lots of more expensive eateries where the kitchen could do with taking lessons from whoever is in charge at The Old House at Home! We'll definitely return so hope standards remain this high.

We have just had a lovely meal. We have been there several times, and can’t fault it usually. Unfortunately someone came in with a very large dog, next to our table while we were eating. First time visiting here, we have driven past no end of times going to different places. Decided to give it ago this afternoon, plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. Went here yesterday and BOOKED a table for 8 earlier in the day.After having a drink in the bar area waiting for our table to be set up we were seated and then told there were no roasts left.Not no beef.....or no chicken or no pork.NO ROASTS at all and it was a Sunday.We had booked and they had plenty of time to tell us but they didn’t have roasts.We ordered something else and had to wait an hour for it to come out in dribs and drabs.20ish minutes it took for all the meals to come to the table.Not impressed guys.Poor considering be booked and it was a SUNDAY which means people want roasts.POOR.POOR.POOR!!

This place is in a great location, looks a lovely place for a quiet afternoon with your family. Tables were clean, grounds are tidy, atmosphere all okay (at 1st).

Arrived in a large pre booked group only to find just 1 person serving behind the bar. Ridiculous! Asked if there were more staff available he just ignored us and served people in the other bar!

Regular place to eat, meals for two tenner plus drinks midweek. What more could you say, good value for money or what!

This is the first time I have been here since the menu has changed. The prices have gone up ad the menu sounded really nice so I was expecting the food to have improved and be something special. I was totally wrong, my favourite dish is slow cooked belly of pork which I have had in various places many times, however this time it was awful the pork was tasteless and dry and the vegetables, carrots overcooked and broccoli undercooked were sitting in I was told the juices from the meat it looked more like the water from the vegetables it was unappetising and dry and I had to ask for a jug of gravy to help eat it the best part were the mashed potatoes and gravy. My friend had chicken stack which he said was just ok. The food is not particularly cheap neither are the drinks. In hindsight I would probably have been better sticking to pub grub like scampi or gammon and chips because at the end of the day it is just a pub that is better serving pub grub instead of fancy dishes

A popular pub with a resonance pub grub menu. Not too much choice but plenty to suit everyone I would think. Our meals we 2 for £10.00 and were really good quality, freshly cooked and serred nice and hot.

Well 4 of us one is my 92 yr old mom visit when we go to the garden centres in that area and we have always had good meals two for £10. but today 2 of us was disappointed we sent our fish and chips back because the fish was nearly see through the batter was lovely. There was no problem with the staff and another couple of fish and chips supplied but to be honest not really any better, hubby eat mine. One of us ordered the 3 scoops of ice cream but they were not full scoops and over £4 for 3 ice cream seems a little expensive.

It’s nearly Christmas and an affinity group of which I am a member decide to go for a fraternity lunch (there, I’m getting used to speaking ‘American’ already .. soon I’ll be ‘duding-up’ my sentences with other malapropisms).

Booked a table in advance for 6 with 3 children. Nice table out the way with high chairs reserved for when we arrived. Food was great,steak was delicious and very reasonably priced. Large portions even for the children’s small bites menu. Money well spent which makes a change when eating out with small children.

Popped in here with grandson after football, couldn't believe how quickly our meal arrived!! We had wexford chicken hunters chicken and a Cajun steak, all cooked beautifully!, for the price they charge what's not to like. Well done the chef!

We looked for somewhere whilst passing through Blakedown and took a punt. Have to say we did not enjoy our meal here - food was of poor quality (I had steak - definitely worth avoiding). Doesn’t pretend to be gourmet but you still expect food to be edible. Won’t be returning.

I have visited here several times and the food is good good sized portions and very cheap. I love the old ambience but I have a serious problem with walking so fir me it's a challenge. It's an old pub with uneven floors but obviously it would spoil the ambiance if magic alterations were done and it's lovely being old and quaint. Parking is fine

Visited The Old House at Home many times before and each visit never fails to impress . The food is delicious and reasonably priced each time we visit. The 2 for 10 deal is spectacular and brilliant value and we can always find something on the menu that we enjoy. The service is excellent and generally quick. I definitely recommend The Old House at Home to small families or couples as it has a lovely family-friendly environment which is always very welcoming. Overall each visit is brilliant and we would definitely go again.

Good pub food for a reasonable price, chips and vegetarian thai curry were exceptionally nice, all other dishes standard and more than edible.

Stopped here after our day out for supper. Very nice the nachos starter were lovely, could do with a little more cheese but still really enjoyed. The sausage, mash an Yorkshire was great, my niece isn’t a great eater but this meal went down amazingly! My burger was slightly over cooked and a bit dry but overall we all enjoyed! Looks lovely from the outside, so we thought we would have a spot of lunch. What a disappointment. I asked for a sandwich but they had no bread. So I had a baked potato with cheese. Presentation 0 taste 0 service 0 and had to ask if I got salad. The toilets were so dirty. On reflection if I had gone to the toilet first I would not have eaten there. Would not recommend this place.

Stopped here on the way back to Birmingham. The price is good with good food, really pleased of this choice.

So it’s a cheap and cheerful meal, served by friendly helpful staff and with a decent choice of beers. Great choice of 2 for £10 meals or 2 for £12. However, the chicken meals aren’t so good as the chicken was dry and ‘old’. The pub itself is olde worlde type but has good outside seating. No olives or nuts available now though which is a shame but the barman hoped they would be back soon.

Visited Old House at Home in the week. Great menu with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Food served was good and staff very welcoming and friendly,dropped a star because table was sticky when we sat outside to enjoy our meal.

Stopped at the Old House at Home in Blakedown for a quick pint and a pie and chips. The beer and the food were very good and the staff friendly and welcoming.

Once again returned to the old house with the family, and left with happy family and full bellys, i had a daily special homemade steak and merlot pie which we and my wife both had and it was amazing keep up the good work chefs, happy customers

Went for a bar snack, Food was cold veg dry and hard, was expecting better but so disappointed. I know it’s 2 for 1 but would not return unfortunately.

This is a nice old-fashioned pub with space for families and social drinkers;we dropped by on a Saturday afternoon and found the staff friendly and plenty of standard comfort food on offer. Fish and chips very nicely done, not at all greasy, and everything was delivered to our table within ten minutes of ordering. 2 for £10 meal deal very reasonable and available every day which is a definite plus!

We stopped off here on route home for dinner-the food wasn’t amazing, but it was fine for what we paid-2 for £12 on the burgers, and my daughter’s kids meal.

If you are busy or passing and fancy a quick lunch, then look no further. Good service great value on well cooked pub grub. Couldn't ask for anything more. And a great pint of HPA

Stopped here with the family on the way home last night. It's situated about 3 miles from the centre of Kidderminster on the Hagley Road. As you do down into Blakedown Village and drive up the hill again, the pub is situated on the right hand side. There is ample parking.

Food is very cheap and cheerful but better quality than other local 2for1s Reasonably priced drinks, friendly staff, what more could you ask for

if cheap food is your thing then here is the place. my friend had hunters chicken and i had gammon 2 eggs and chips for ten pounds. they also own a slightly more upmarket pub called hare and hounds which is a lovely pub up road. i think this is a slightly different menu though and may be worth a try. for price it cant be beaten. sunday lunch at £6 TAKES SOME BEATING
