The food we had at lunch time was very good. The crispy chicken BLT sandwich was nice, as were the parmesan and truffle fries. On arrival we were told that they didn't have our reservation, however i did have my booking reservation email. It was quite quickly resolved and we were seated despite feeling a little awkward.

Sorry to say our experience for a family Sunday lunch was disappointing. Firstly, we were waiting at the door to be seen and shown to our table for quite a while whilst staff seemed overly busy waiting on the tables outside. Didn't really get acknowledged for about 5 minutes. Got to our table and a drinks order was taken, this was fine. The Sunday lunch menu consisted of 2 meat choices only. The vegetables were served on the plate with the meat and consisted of 3 tiny sized roast potatoes, red cabbage a slither of carrot and similar slither of parsnip - all soggy as the meat piled on top, so no crispy roasties. We waited for a bowl of veg for the table and got a cereal sized bowl of cauliflower cheese between the 4 of us only. No green veg, new or mashed potatoes or extra gravy. When ordering we did ask for one of the meals to have just peas and carrots (peas were not on the menu, therefore not available) as one of us don't eat any other veg. This was agreed by the Waiter but although he made a note, the plate arrived same as other 3 so obviously the request didn't get to the kitchen or just got ignored. Just a good job it was a request based on personal taste and not based on any allergy. 2 of us had pork and were disappointed there was no crackling and no apple sauce available. Overall at £17 per head we left hungry and disappointed, have had much better meals and service at a pub. After our meal, we were offered the bill with no offer of desserts or coffee so we paid and left, went into local Bridgnorth and found a tearoom offering coffee & cake, and pleasant service. Sorry, since our last visit a couple of years ago, we felt quality, quantity and service reduced and will not be returning.

Was so looking forward to afternoon tea with bubbles at Apley Farm as setting looked idyllic and heard good reviews. Showed our server our Buy a Gift voucher on arrival ( already booked in advance online) and was seated quickly. We were asked what hot drinks we wanted which came quickly and so did our food which were of decent quality but that’s where the good points ended. We were totally ignored after that. No one came to check if everything was ok it if we wanted anything else and no offer of our bubbles. I asked another member of staff who asked again to see our voucher and he said ok but never bought it to us. We waited for a while and he came passed us several times without acknowledgment and still no bubbles. We decided we’d had enough of being ignored and left. Some cakes left on our plates which we would have asked to take home but couldn’t be bothered due to the poor service. Wouldn’t have minded if they were rushed off their feet but the original server was just standing around on a few occasions doing nothing. First and last time here I’m afraid.

The setting is absolutely beautiful and the staff were welcoming and chatty when delivering food to the table and clearing plates. My only criticism of this charming cafe is the lack of vegetarian offerings. The vegetarian/vegan breakfast felt like an afterthought when compared with the other meals delivered to our table. It was fairly cold, with a random pepper from a jar on the plate and some meat substitute sausages which were barely cooked through. An egg was an optional extra which came at an additional charge. The service was very good, the drinks all lovely but I think it is worth pointing out that there could have been more choice for vegetarians on the menu and the vegetarian breakfast could have been a bit more imaginative and cared for when being prepared. It's definitely worth having a vegetarian and separate vegan option, so those of us who don't mind eggs could have had the option without paying extra money. Overall a lovely meal out with friends, who all said their breakfast was of outstanding quality and really enjoyable.

Went for breakfast and it was generally OK. The full breakfast was quite nice, good quality bacon & sausage. My wife is coeliac and there was plenty of choice. She had poached egg on toast with avocado. Egg not quite cooked. Big let down though was the coffee. Very expensive cappuccino and the large was a medium/regular anywhere else. More expensive than Costa!

When I queried with the waiter why my battered haddock was pale pink instead of white, I was offered another fish but didn't fancy it any more. I was told the chef had said it was perfectly ok, safe to eat, it was the way it had come from the supplier. I was a bit unhappy about eating pink haddock so googled it before eating any more and found this: "Gall bladder staining may occur if the fish is not frozen soon after catch. If left unfrozen, the gall bladder may burst within one or two days of catch. Bile stains result in reduced recoveries. A pinkish hue in the flesh suggests poor bleeding and is a mark of inferior product." Needless to say I couldn't eat it after reading that. However, my husband had wild mushrooms on toast which he really enjoyed. I didn't want to make a fuss so we paid for the meal then I showed the waiter what I had found online. He showed the chef who apparantly said the fish was fresh in the day before and that was that. My husband did point out that if pink flesh indicates an inferior product and if the restaurant had paid for quality, they had been ripped off by its supplier. A very disappointing experience and a waste of money.

This was my first visit to the apley farm kitchen as i had a voucher for an afternoon tea. The food was excellent. Fresh sandwiches and quiche, which were both delicious and the selection of cakes was very impressive. The portion sizes were that big we actually brought some of the scones away with us. The main food menu also looks very nice and i will be back to try some of the other food out another time. The service we received was fast and friendly and getting unlimited top ups of tea was no problem!

I must echo the views of others. A really lovely restaurant spoiled by sparrows landing on the the table where cakes are being cut and on uncleared tables. Very unhygienic - there must be a way to stop them coming into the tearooms. Never encountered it anywhere else. Health and safety would have a field day!

A one off visit before attending a near by festival that had not opened. Excellent food... black pudding salad and carrot cake. Staff excellent... polite and attentive and friendly... only slight negative is that the lattes are red hot... I mean, really hot, so the milk is possibly over steamed bit once cooled fine. Would return if I'm ever in the area again.

We used our ‘buy a gift’ voucher for Afternoon tea at Apley Farm. It was delicious! The setting is really lovely, tastefully decorated and designed. We went at 2pm, there were quite a few tables taken and the staff were obviously busy, but they were friendly, lovely and very attentive. The food was delicious, sandwiches were fresh and the condiments that accompanied them a nice touch. The dessert selection was also good, so much so that we didn’t get as far as the 4 scones! We were offered endless pots of tea and nice hot latte’s. We were happily given boxes to bring the scones, clotted cream (long life) and jam home, we’ve been to buy fresh clotted cream! I’d noticed other reviews have mentioned birds in the area. There were a couple of sparrows that had come in through the door and were eating the crumbs off the floor. The birds were no problem and cute to watch. People have to understand, it is in the middle of the countryside! We’d go back in a heartbeat!

Been here a few times but now I feel I need to leave a review as I don’t like to leave bad reviews unnecessarily, the staff are quite rude and abrupt and the food is overpriced , birds flying around and landing on tables , not very hygenic in a restaurant, I think it’s a shame as could be really nice , won’t let you swap items on the breakfast which is not normally a problem elsewhere , if you take items off you have to pay to add items on , quite bizarre really. I do feel the staff need re training on how to treat paying customers.

Visited here for a late breakfast/early lunch We were seated at our table and we were very shocked to see birds flying around the restaurant. They were landing on tables, landing at our feet and also landing on plates of food of vacated tables. Whilst it was actually quite a nice sound I really feel it was very unhygienic. Now I’m not going to take anything away from the food, it was excellent quality produce and very tasty, although the full English had quite a bit of grease on the plate. I did ask about the birds and I was told that ‘yeah we get them in here ‘ ????? We were never asked if we enjoyed our meal etc or I might have addressed it a bit more.

Eaten here a couple of times before and the food and service was excellent. I wanted to treat my mother to lunch. Booked in advance, lovely welcome. However, they missed a item on the order - Shropshire blue tart. Fair enough, it was a warm Sunday and mistakes happen. There was three of us in total and after asking where the third meal was they did not apologise. We then had to wait for ten minutes for a slice of tart and salad. The cafe was not busy. It was a mediocre portion with more salad leafs than tart. The tart was eventually bought over, when we had practically finished our meals and the front of house then decided to courtesy check us. Despite finishing our drinks before the meals arrived, no offer was made. We did not go to the counter as it was made clear it was table service. Mistakes do happen. However, none of the staff apologised to us, acknowledged the wait time or even offered to knock a drink off the bill when we came to pay. Additionally, chairs were being stacked around us as we were eating and it was very obvious that they staff wanted to go home and enjoy the sunshine. As someone who works in hospitality, I do empathise. However try not to make it obvious to customers you want them to leave. An apology goes a long way. It was clear that the staff did not care or have been overworked. I had been looking forward to lunch on a rare Sunday day off.

We visited today for brunch & had spent a while looking for somewhere with the food options we liked, good reviews overall & we liked the look of the farm cafe which prided itself on fresh produce, quality ingredients etc. it was also a rare date day without the children so had been looking forward to something a bit special. We loved the look of the restaurant & were greeted by a lovely member of staff - so far so good. We had our order taken quickly & hot drink arrived promptly & was lovely. The apple juice was room temp but she had explained this as the fridge was broken so would we be ok with ice in a glass- fun. However the disappointment came when our food arrived. It had been quite a wait even though they were quiet when we ordered- but thought this meant it was all being cooked fresh & from Scratch so didn’t mind too much. We ordered eggs Benedict & French toast. Both things we enjoy & make at home. When it came & we started eating, we realised both my husbands & my food was cold. Not even luke warm. It must have been left sitting quite a while for it to have cooled completely! Had it been forgotten we thought & not brought out straight away? We couldn’t eat cold food so asked for it to be warmed. We would’ve been happy at this point to have it microwaved as we were now quite hungry. However we were told it would be redone so had sat waiting again but glad if it meant we’d have fresh, hot food. It came out again & the waitress said she hoped these would be ok for us now.. they were slightly warmer than before but I’d say luke warm is pushing it. We were disappointed but also baffled. Why when these are plates that had been returned once & perhaps had been left sitting .. could they not be remade and sent out straight away & hot for the second time of trying? How is it possible to not serve hot food? It was very odd but at this point we were too hungry & just ate. It was all fine apart from being nearly cold! It’s not cheap for what you get & it just seems very strange that they could not get a hot breakfast out to the customer & both of ours being cold - not just one & had it been busy / a large table etc .. we may understand one order not being as hot as others.. but we were a couple ordering at a quiet time & had even had it remade, still to come out ever so slightly above cold. We had also expected this may have meant that they would offer us a discount at the time of paying as we’d had 2 long waits for food & food which was served cold. But no, they were ready to take full Payment at the end with no offer of an apology. My husband mentioned the issue & asked about a discount. The woman at the counter said she’d have to ‘call the manager as she didn’t know how to do it on the till’.. the manager agreed & we had one of the breakfasts taken off. Overall a disappointing experience which promised to be lovely with such nice surroundings , staff welcome & menu options. One small other point to mention is I had a mocha which was lovely but when my husband then ordered one after trying mine, his tasted nothing like mine & was just a normal coffee. We didn’t want to complain again so he just accepted it and it’s not a big thing but added to the food issues - just odd that there’s not consistency & if you order a mocha, you should get a mocha. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Building decor is beautiful And staff look very professional. We were seated and given menus, then we felt like we had been forgotton about. It wasn’t too busy either. We managed to place our orders, but we were very unhappy to be immediately asked if we were to pay then or after. I have never known to be asked this quick before. Maybe so if it was a takeout option, but we were sitting in. Following on from this, we chose to pay then, but later when we left staff member ran to us across the courtyard asking if we had paid for a cake we asked to be taken away (which we did!). Although she was polite in asking we did feel a bit like we was being accused of stealing a slice of cake, when surely the bill evidently left on the table would show we had paid, and communication with staff would also proove this? We actually visited apley farm to see the animals and petting zoo. We asked staff about it and it was barked to us that ‘the animals aren’t here anymore ’ with no further information. I had to ask her as she was walking away what she meant, as this was the reason we arrived. After a quick google and Facebook search we found information about a lease ending or something. There is always 2 sides to a story but we think this is a absolute crying shame that it has closed down and had taken so much away from the area. On a positive note, the chocolate buttercream on the chocolate cake is the nicest I have ever tasted- absolutly to die for ! If I’m honest, due to staff treatment / re payment of cake, and animals no longer in situ, I doubt we will be in a hurry to return.

I was worried this would mean a long wait as it was a busy Saturday afternoon but our food arrived in good time and was absolutely delicious and exactly as ordered such as well done eggs on one of the brunches and a burger without trimmings. All the food was hot, plentiful and tasted beautiful. Our meal was made all the more special by the amazing staff and a particular mention has to go to Julie who went above and beyond and made us feel so welcome. Rude and unhelpful staff I have eaten here many times with my elderly in-laws but won’t be going again in a hurry … We were seated outside by Ben who was polite. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to serve us and it’s started to spot with rain. A lady with a young family asked if they could put up the umbrellas - a dismissive girl said, no as they were broken. Another couple were waiting to be served and went in to find someone to help - to be told someone would serve them at their table. We tried to catch the eye of various servers and get attention to no avail. We eventually got the attention of a lady with a short blond bob who looked disgusted that she has to stop to help us. She dismissively said she’d have to check we were in the list … I’m not sure what and why we would be on a list. We just wanted some lunch. A lady eventually can out to take our order but by this time we had had enough. We enjoyed a pub lunch elsewhere and were seated, served drinks and had our order taken within a few minutes by very polite staff who could not do enough for us. They will get a 5 star rating. Come on Apley you can do much better and please retrain your staff in good polite customer service. I’m not the only person who has noticed the lack of service and the utter confusion when you get busy.

We called into Apley Kitchen on Saturday 05.08.2023 whilst visiting our son and daughter-in-law and enjoyed a lovely lunch of ciabatta with either steak or chili chicken plus a fish finger sandwich, chunky chips, salad and coleslaw and a couple of slices of cake. We found the staff to be very welcoming and the food of a high standard although, perhaps, a couple of pounds over priced. The odd thing, which has been mentioned in other reviews, is the fact that you have to pay immediately when you order which does feel restrictive if there are any issues with your order or you want to order extra drinks or, in our case, the cake to follow That said, it was an enjoyable visit and we would return although I would recommend booking ahead as it does get busy at lunchtimes

Visited here as a family of three. We waited a little while to be seated but a staff member checked in on us and let us know she would be with us soon. Once seated we had a comfortable amount time to peruse the menu this is where things became strange. The member of staff enthusiastically recommended a special which we decided against and her attitude changed when we ordered something different. Myself and my husband ordered the steak and onion ciabatta and daughter ordered chicken goujons from the children's menu. When our drinks were brought over we were asked to pay the bill straight away which we thought was strange. Our food arrived quite quickly, however our daughter's chicken goujons were southern fried which meant they had a slight spice which she doesn't like. I didn't say anything partly because we had already paid and that made me feel uneasy and partly because I wasn't sure whether I had missed southern fried on the menu but why would you put a spicy item on a children's menu? Our sandwiches were described on the menu as steak and onions with a cheese sauce. There were hardly any onions, three small strips of 'steak' and I couldn't detect any cheese flavour in the sauce. With a side salad and coleslaw this would have been ok at a cost £10.95 had the sandwich been as described and had plenty of filling and an actual cheese sauce but unfortunately was disappointing. No one checked on us at any point during the meal I think they were too busy chasing the sparrows out, which were coming in to pick up the scraps off the dirty floors. Now I didn't complain because quite frankly I just wanted to get out of there. I checked the menus on the way out and the children's menu simply said chicken goujons. I would have pointed out to staff at that point but there was no one around. We will not be rushing back

Lovely setting and pleasant staff. Priced reasonable. We chose a double afternoon tea. The sandwich were really delicious and fresh. Lots of filling. The scone was hard, but I asked to change and got a delicious warm soft scone as a replacement. Lots of tea and moist light cake. Sensible afternoon tea, not too much cake.
