We walked along the canal expecting sandwiches and chips and to our delight the menu is great and the food even better Totally recommend the crab salad and the vegetable penang curry was fantastic The staff are friendly and dog bowls and treats just add to the great afternoon we had

Went especially for the pound of meat Steak Pie - no longer on the menu I’m afraid. Instead there was a pale, stale, microwaved thing flopped on the plate. The first pint was equally stale despite costing close to £6 a pint and yet the second was lovely.

Great beers on tap! Went out for dinner with family. Lovely food, came out quickly, friendly staff! Will definitely be going back!

Hadn't eaten here for years but wanted somewhere picturesque to take our friend who is over from the US. We were welcomed by a roaring fire and a warm welcome from the manager. We all chose 2 courses for £18. Mushrooms, whitebait, and chicken wings. Generous portions and very tasty. For mains, we had roast beef, pork, and Southern fried chicken burger. The presentation of the roasts was amazing. There was a huge amount of meat, good choice of veg, roast potatoes perfect, and the most lovely Yorkshire pudding. I can honestly say it was the nicest roast I've had in ages. Will definitely be back! Thank you.

Called in for lunch with a group of friends after a nice walk along the canal. This was a first visit for all of us. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food choice was good, meals arrived without delay and were enjoyed by all. Looking forward to future visits.

Had our annual family Christmas dinner at the Swan today, we had a two course set menu and had preordered. The service was fantastic, all of the team are super helpful, friendly and polite (as always). The food was superb, the meals were presented well, boiling hot and delicious which given there was 16 of us, was just superb - a massive thank you to all of you.

The recently installed car parking cameras caught me despite having lunch there. Is it worth a £60 fine or risk a CCJ? Surely there are plenty of other places to go?

Returned after a previous visit where I reviewed as 2 stars, happy to say that service has improved and I rate it 5 food was lovely booked window seat which made it feel special, Tina was very welcoming and helpful and we will definitely be booking breakfast again 👍

We visited this place on 7th and 8th October while moored nearby. Both days the menu choice is very poor. On the 7th we had 1 x spinach and feta pie 1 x steak ciabatta 1 x portion of chips. All food very tasty. Beer nice but short pints seems normal here. Both the lovely ladies serving were very nice and very efficient. On the 8th the menu choices were really poor too. We ended up ordering 1 x squid starter 1 x chicken goujon starter 2 x chips 1 x cheesy garlic bread. All the food was lovely and was served hot but we had to order this as the main meal choices were very limited. The two young ladies on the 8th were overwhelmed by the amount of customers and you had to wait ages to get served. One man kept collecting a few glasses and washing them but served no one. Then the landlady came behind the bar. What a grump. Very good at serving but a bad attitude. She was obviously watching the villa match instead of helping out behind the bar. Overall the food is good and tasty but the choice is dire. Its not a place we would go to if not on our boat and passing. The landlady needs to get off her high horse. The rest of the staff are OK.

Seven family members for Sunday lunch. Between us we covered the full selection of the Sunday menu. All dishes were delicious and served together. Puddings and drink were great. Service was excellent. Very welcoming, efficient and pleasant. Decor was great. Outdoor seating areas brilliant. Will definitely be back. Thankyou.

A fabulous end to our barge weekend. Sunday lunch booked and absolutely didn't disappoint. 3 course for £22 and each delicious. The star of the show? Craig! A wonderful attentive host and a credit to the team. We'll definitely be back again

Went in for a Sunday roast it was amazing best beef dinner I’ve had in ages. The waiter Craig was great fast and friendly service.

Came for Sunday lunch, a special birthday meal with 10 friends. No issues with that size of party but we did pre order food. Everything was spot on, the meal, the service and the company. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Thanks to Gaz and Leanne but especially Harry and Shannon for a fantastic meal, it was a special day and they made it even more special for me. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys to everyone. Come and try it, you'll be back again. Thank you guys.

Absolutely fantastic place to spend an afternoon. Food is fantastic, bar prices are very reasonable and the service is outstanding. To top it off the management can’t do enough for you. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

We enjoyed well our Sunday Roast. Our last visit three years was very disappointing on all counts. What a change under the present management, bar and kitchen staff. Gone have sticky tables and indifferent customer attitudes. Well done and congrats to all at the Swan ( or muddy duck as known locally😂)

Visited here for the first time today. Great view of the canal and the boats. Ordered a ploughmans and a steak baguette. Took ages - girl came out and apologised for the wait, saying they couldn't find the cheese! Tasted great when it did arrive. Odd with no chutney or apple, being a ploughmans, but I would order it again, it was very good. The steak baguette was very good too, I'm told. Most of the staff were very friendly - the 4 star rating instead of 5 is due to the dirty look and snideness of the staff member when I went inside for a menu. Will definately visit again.

When I used to live in this area some 20+ years ago, this was the place to go - how times have changed. Having been on holiday on the canal for the past week, we dined in many lovely places. This was supposed to be the best as we had saved it till last, however how wrong were we. On a Friday evening the place was nearly empty, which should tell its own story, nothing to do with Covid I might add. The whole menu was based on cheap frozen, deep fried food and was very limited in choice but without the price tag to warrant this. The one man with his dog that provided entertainment, by ripping a crisp packet to shreds on the floor before consuming the contents and then walking out leaving the trail of devastation after him only added to the ambiance here !!!!. Maybe we should have some idea that all here was not going to be as it should, when we were presented with 2 evening menus and one lunch menu. The waitresses were clueless, had no concept of what was good or bad and seemed generally surprised to be shown yellow slimy salad leaves and told that they were not how they should be served. In fact she queried what was wrong with them !!. We asked that she pass this back to the chef, we question if this happened as we were again served the same with our main course. On complaining again to the waitress, she returned to the table, banged down a bowl of salad and said "not sure if this makes any difference". Not wanting to make a fuss, we ate what we could and went to leave. There was an older person at the bar, who looked like they may have been management, however it was only after taking the money that they asked if everything was ok, good trick. We highlighted again the issues we had and yes we were offered a drink, but some of our party had already gone outside, so not a practical solution. There are many lovely pubs that deserve your money along the canal side, this sadly isn't one of them and maybe why 2 small cafes have opened up nearby since last in the area.
