One of my fave pubs in Lichfield. I live in Spain but when I come to visit family we always make a trip or two to this pub

Great pub, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff and the best pint of Bathams Bitter I've ever had. A must for ale drinkers whenever you visit Lichfield.

Lovely pub. Nice beer and friendly crowd

Very popular city centre pub. Lots of cask ales on. Popular for sports on tv. Busy even during the week. Usual bar snacks, not sure if they do anything else.

First time visit. Got to admit that pictures of the Packington Pork Pie drew us in! A lovely pub. Friendly service and vibes. Great pork pie 😎

Always pop in here when on a Lichfield Livener afternoon with friends! Great atmosphere, great choice beers and a lovely "community" feel about the place. Love it!

It's a rarity me and my partner have some quality time off together, so we came here with our dog for a quiet drink as it's supposed to be a dog friendly pub. To our disgust the scruffy blonde bar tender approached us about our dogs occasional barking and asked us if we could stop him as it's not nice for the customers. He was only answering to the other dogs in the bar, one of which belonged to her and the others her regulars. Which funnily enough she didn't seem to have an issue with.

Never been here before. so went in with mom and step dad and a friend of ours. stayed for 2 hours yesterday. had a few drinks. i found it a very old school pub. lots of locals very friendley place. not much food on offer. but the cobs were rather nice. staff were friendly to. a bit pricey but ok now and then. will come back but no rush

A really great old but modern feel pub, with crusty cobs on the counter ( basic but yummy), and other traditional snacks! Great garden for the upcoming summer and a great choice of drinks. Becoming one of my favourite visits in Lichfield.

Lovely local tradition pub, with great real ale selection, usually Bathams Bitter & Holdens Golden Glow plus guest ales. Cobs etc available some lunchtimes food (not Monday's) friendly good staff & local customers. Can be busy when Rugby matches on TV, though football supporters not encouraged, thankfully no under 18's allowed. One of my favourite pubs.

One of the best pubs in the Midlands

Great atmosphere, good choice of beer and a good time was had by all. Will be visiting again very soon.

I am 85 years of age and I have never had such a bad meal and bad service in all those years. No wonder the Pub was empty! The Chef and especially the Waitress need training

What can I say went today was having a nice time the lady behind the bar was aggressive towards a customer mon 4th march around 5pm blonde hair never in my life and working in hospitality myself have I experienced this poor man and his dog were spoken to awful never again going friends and family avoid and will spread the word

Always an excellent selection of real ale in a comfy pub with loads of seating. Always has the sport on if that’s your thing. Head down at the weekend and you might bag a pint of Bathams…

Great traditional pub in the heart of Lichfield. They have an extensive range of well kept beers. Extremely popular with regulars and visitors alike. Sport is shown on several screens around the pub and it can get very busy while major events are being screened and could benefit from better ventilation during these times. They have a decked courtyard at the rear of the pub which is also very popular during the summer. Lastly and most importantly, I never had a bad beer here, if it's not right, or not ready, they won't sell it!

Always great beers and although always busy (a good sign in my mind) a good safe and friendly atmosphere. Probably the best pub overall in Lichfield for me, as a middle aged bloke who likes well kept beer .

Seriously could not rate this place better. If there was a ten star I would do. Great beer, great atmosphere, THE place to be on a Friday night. Everyone so bloody lovely, the place is pumping. Thanks so much for the absolutely awesome service. Don't think cos it's busy you have to wait, not at all, bar staff are amazing.

Popped in for a drink on a busy Saturday, great atmosphere

Entered with my 21 year old son. Asked them about age restrictions as my 16 year old nephew was outside. Told we weren’t welcome and f**k off. I was astounded and asked her to repeat what she said and she did. What an awful choice of staff to take on and manage your business in your absence. To make matters worse, I had lost my mom only a few hours earlier and we were feeling quite upset already.

Great pub,good range of real ales. Can't wait to go back to Lichfield for this pub. The only problem is that too many customers are allowed to vape in the pub.

These guys are the King of Cask Ale. Literally! The beer here is looked after extremely well and there's always something different on each day. As others have commented, the atmosphere is great with a friendly team. I hate to say it but probably the best pub in Lichfield.

went to pop in on Friday night around 10:40 (just 2 of us) and one of the bar staff came to the door, stopped us and said 'no admission after 10:30' - really?...never again

What a great pub. We visited on a busy Saturday, great atmosphere but plenty of staff who were on the ball and kept the drinks flowing. Really upmarket modern pub with a host of different ales and lagers on offer. Will definitely return when in the area.

Brilliant pub. It's recently had a refurb and it looks amazing. Wonderfully friendly and eccentric bar lady. Great selection of beers and a welcoming atmosphere replete with local characters.

Bar staff were impatient, and male glass collector was rude and abrupt

Had the homemade steak, ale and mushroom pie with mash and veg. pastry was cooked on top but raw underneath, just white and very soft.. The filling was ok only one lump of fat. The mash was LUMPY i had to mash myself with a fork. Place was almost empty and food took ages to come so no excuse for this poorly cooked simple food. on the plus side husband had a burger and this was cooked well

One of , if not, the best pub in Lichfield, hence its always busy and atmospheric . Great bar staff , very clean premises and a lovely quaint beer garden .

Great atmosphere and choice of beers

It was a Sunday & one barman said my wife was too loud. It turned out he was the manager. No swearing or anything abusive by my wife just her being happy & chatty with a couple of friends we had bumped into but he was obviously mysogonistic to say it was a problem. We are 60 years old & he made us feel so unwelcome. He should be ashamed. It was even worse considering that there was a table of eight close to us who were actually loud but nothing was said to them. Totally uncalled for.

A nice pub with different ales and a usual drop in for me to have a couple or three ales. I went to bar and stood for a while nobody waiting, a regular customer arrived at the bar, a member of the staff came up and started pulling their regular drink!! Not who's first. Hey ho that's pubs for you. I bought a tonic water for my wife and was charged £3.50 , I questioned price and was told yes correct price. Wow , I know purchase price in warehouse is about 79p. I little expensive? I then made it a task to check out other pubs , on average £2.00 . Sorry will have to give you miss from now on.

I had already visited a few other pubs in the town before coming here and I honestly thought I'd died and gone to heaven...! No less than EIGHT real ales available and the three I tried were all in superb condition. What really made the place special though was their "no under 21s" policy. This meant that my wife and I could enjoy a nice, quiet drink without any brats running around the place. If only more pubs would adopt this policy....!

I went with ex colleagues. The beer was excellent , as were the cobs and pork pies. Donna, the barmaid (am I still allowed to say that?) was a delight. She was a proper barmaid. She was on her own but dealt with everything. She booked us a taxi to the station, Top class. Circumstances dictate that it is unlikely that we will return for a while but if the opportunity arises I/we wouldn't think twice,

Lovely afternoon visiting Lichfield and happened upon this backstreet pub. Busy but all good. Served one drink, no problem at all. Went up for another, let the guy who'd waited longer than me go first as a decent person would. Old barmaid in dungarees enters the fray, serves bloke by me who'd just come to the bar first. I politely said, "Excuse me, I've been waiting a while? Miserable old barmaid barked at me 'CALM DOWN '. Seriously??? I calmly replied,'I'm perfectly calm, thank you. I was just making a valid point '.. She then barked,'Do you want a drink or not? '. Absolutely horrible woman. No need whatsoever for her rude, arrogant treatment of a customer that'd done nothing wrong whatsoever. No problem with other staff apart from this miserable sod. She slammed my partner's glass of wine down and poured me a dreadful pint of cider with a massive head on it, I had to knock the top off it to before I left the bar. No need at all for the dreadful attitude and sour faced actions of this obviously unhappy old woman. Avoid this dump.

We visited tonight and ordered hunters chicken & chips and fish & chips. The service was fast, friendly and not rushed. The food came out in good time, was hot and plenty on the plate. The desserts are on a board with lots of choice for everyone. We were able to enjoy our food with background music at just the right level for us to hear and hold a conversation at the same time without raised voices. All in all a really good night with no problems at all 🙂

Have always loved this place, one of my favourites. Lovely outside seating area, great staff and great beer - but some dog owners letting dogs on the seating is just grim.

Really busy on a Thursday night. Really good service and great beer (Butty Bach). Five or six real ales on tap.

Stopped by for a few beers with half a dozen friends. Good selection of beers and staff very friendly. You must try the pork pie with mustard which is amazing.
