my wife and i visited the star hotel burntwood last night having been out for the day and we decided on a meal at the starthe welcome was very pleasant and when we ordered the meal and drinks the staff were very polite the meals were excellent but the re were only 2 waitresses on duty considering the pub was quite busyso service was a little slow but all in all a nice round off to the day

Well my husband and I visited this place to see if we liked it enough to book for the following week for a group of 6.We ordered food and my husbands was good mine not so. We gave them the benefit of the doubt (mistake) and booked a table for the following week. We asked if it was possible to book a particular table yes they said no problem. Immediately conformation of booking texted to phone.Came the day we turned up with our party of 6, at the appointed time oh no 2 minutes before actually! We have a table booked for 6 we said to the women oh do you yes actually it’s supposed to be that one there! Pointing to a table full of dirty dishes and glasses etc! Oh well we’ve had someone else there yes obviously we can see that but we’d particularly asked for that table oh well you’ll have to wait if you want that one while we clean it! So we waited standing there got pushed out of the way by women from behind the bar who’d now decided to help tidy the table. So I said I’m sorry but this should have been ready for us as we’d gone to the trouble of booking it, she said oh let me get my lap top and see what your booking says! Again been pushed out of her way! Comes back with lap top and says we’ll yes but you were 2 minutes early! If we’d not been very hungry and not had our friends with us we’d have walked out then and there.Customer Service is nonexistent here.If you want a good meal decent friendly staff don’t bother coming here.

Food was amazing, staff are always brilliant and great choice for breakfast as well as evenings Always a clean and safe environment and I couldn’t praise the staff any higher as always so polite and friendly

This is our regular pub. Today we had the best meal yet . Beck was the chef and wow she did an amazing job . I ordered the chilli noodles but added prawns and the sea bass to it .. wow !! The sea bass was perfect and loads of prawns .. it was truly a perfect dish . The hubby had chilli chicken beetroot wrap again this was served to perfection. Both are dishes we have not had before but certainly will again .. the service is always great . Well done all

Always a lovely visit! Brought the dog up this time and had a lovely meal with my partner. They’re accommodating to pooches and even have a self serve water keg which is super cute! I had chicken and ribs and she had a mixed grill, and it was perfect! Every time we’re in the food is spot on and the staff are fantastic! Thanks guys!

Had issues with the Embers inn App, Rachel our waiter was very good, and took our order from the table, despite her being so busy and run off her feet. We appreciated how polite she was. Rachel came to check we had what we needed and to see if everything was okay with our meals. Couldn’t have faulted Rachel she was fantastic and appeared to be the only one running around.

Despite the adversity of the ember inns application not working, our server Rachel was fantastic and took it all in her stride

Really happy Rachel was lovely, polite and always had a smile on her face really happy with service, food was good and even though the app wasn't working staff seemed to take it all in their stride

We visited today, had a great meal and were welcomed and greeted by John the manager, this pub looks beautiful and always makes you feel welcomed , Thank you 😊👍

Love the atmosphere in this pub. Decent food, goid staff, warm, comfy and clean. Could do with tge bar sorting as it foes not aid good service due to blind spots.

I’m always welcomed by the fantastic staff regardless how busy they are. It’s a great feeling when the bar staff know your drink and food before you order and it’s clear the staff pride themselves on knowing their customers. Good selection of keg beers changed throughout the year with good quality food.

We decided to take advantage of the extended EOTHO scheme that The Star had advertised on social media/email.For a birthday treat for my hubby i booked a table for 4 at 6:15.We arrived early and had a couple of drinks outside.At exactly 6:15 we ordered our 4 meals. We were told on ordering that it would be a 45 min wait. During our wait we noticed there wasn’t much food coming into the restaurant?After an hour... and starving.. I decided to enquire where our food was. A few minutes later a supervisor came to say our meal would be a further 20 minutes wait!This was totally unacceptable and our evening had already been ruined by the extended wait and lack of food.I wished we hadn’t have had the pre drinks.It was obvious the pub could not cope with extending this offer and I imagine many people were disappointed with the lack of food and extra long wait.We decided to have a refund and there was no problem. But it doesn’t compensate for a spoilt birthday meal.Its a shame, we like The Star and the social distancing measures, vigilance and bar service was very good. Goodness knows what’s going on in the kitchen!For future reference..... if a meal is going to be an additional 30 min after the 45 mins already quoted perhaps you should have the decency to inform the customers instead of having 4 very hungry tetchy people sat round waiting. Not good!

We have previously taken lunch here prior to lockdown and enjoyed the food. However, this cannot be said for our recent visit post lockdown.Whilst the waiting time for the food is understandable the burnt offerings were really below expectations.The "chicken burgers" were cooked solid and the mixed grill sausages incinerated. Fortunately i enjoy charcoal sausages. What i do not enjoy though is steak served up which is as tough as leather and what can only be described as watery peppercorn sauce.Quality food can be found elsewhere locally.

Visited today but wouldn't return there. I had the lentil mash pie and the topping was hard and chewy Small amount of veg on plate. Not value for money.

We visited the restaurant on a Wednesday (50% off), despite booking a table wait for for food was around an hour after ordering, people coming in after us who had also booked were told food would be up to 2 hours. Food was nice when it eventually came. Queuing system could be a lot better I.e. could offer table service as this would dramatically reduce queues and then could maintain social distancing.

Very Disappointed. I think it will be along time before we return. I can go into details but I feel it unnecessary as there’s always an excuse. Some valid and some not.

First visit back after lockdown & we were really impressed. Served by Rachy M who made sure that we were looked after from the moment she spotted us at the door. Our contact details were taken, hands sanitized on arrival, distancing at the bar explained to us perfectly and a really great layout of the tables inside. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the weather and everything was perfect. Food was lovely, drinks were cold and Rachy M was very attentive & that made us feel very safe & welcomed. Well done to all at The Star - we will be back again soon !!!

Well what can I say been a few times here , so decided to go today Saturday , what a big disappointment ,ordered the beef and black sheep and mushroom ale pie ,with mashed potato and steamed veg , what a joke came with boiled potatoes , pie pastry was hard as rock , with 1 half of mushroom in it . Was asked if it was ok I sed no it says on menu pie with mash cracked pepper and I have boiled potatoes , oh he said I asked if you wanted potatoes or chips, well that option of chips wasn't even on the menu , sorry but won't be going there again , you have to get up yourself to order food and go bar for drinks ,

This pub has a pleasant location and the bar staff are always friendly and welcoming. We did once have a Sunday lunch here but the food was so disappointing it was clear we would never eat here again. But still, we continued to regularly frequent the pub for a quiet drink and bag of crisps, enjoyed ain the large beer garden outside when weather permitted.This was all pre-coronavirus of course. Now after 3 months being closed we were looking forward to a drink here when it finally re-opened on a sunny weekend lunchtime.Unfoortunately we were met atthe door by the manager who informed us that we need to book a head for a table. This was early, there were no other people in the pub or beer garden but still we were not allowed to drop in and take a drink outside, socially distanced from any other table.This leaves me puzzled about what this pub is good for any more. The food is poor, and now it is not even possible to take a spontaneous drink at a table in the beer garden. Fortunately there are other pubs in the area which offer a better and more authentic pub experience, and that is where we shall be drinking from now on.

I visit the Star Inn fairly frequently and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and am always impressed by how clean and friendly the place is. Food is always served hot and seems to be freshy cooked. I have always found Ember Inns friendly and inviting and I find the star as good as, if not better, than most.

Haven't visited here since last year and previously always had a good meal with attentive service. Not sure if the Star is under new management as this Saturday lunch was very disappointing.Went to order and the barman was confused as to what was on the lunchtime special (it stated on tables £7.29 for 2 courses). After ordering, meals for another couple appeared. When we got ours one meal was minus the sauce and had to wait for this. At no time were we asked if our meals were okay and had to ask for the plates to be taken away, and then chase up a dessert ordered. The staff and service frankly left a lot to be desired. A shame as we previously enjoyed coming here.

Been quite a few times now and never had a bad meal, 2 steaks on a Thursday for £14 is a bargain, and the food on other nights is a good price. Friendly staff and great atmosphere

I have gone with a 3 overall as our visit here for food last Saturday was a 5 but tonight was a 2. Last week I had the carbonara which was delicious, hubby had his usual ultimate burger which is lovely everytime and friend had chicken and bacon salad. No complaints satisfied as normal with food and service. Oh dear tonight I had sirloin steak which I asked for a salad and jacket potato with it but it initially came with neither but chips and peas. Rectified quickly but oh my gosh sirloin was inedible, could not get my knife through the majority of it. We were in a rush and could not wait to speak to serving member of staff so I left a message with the bar staff to pass on and check their batch of sirloin steak for other orders. My friends rump was fine. Usually have good meals here so will be back but it has put me a little bit off having steak again

Lunch date with my Dad ... great atmosphere in the pub, lovely & clean, wine was nice & cold. Served at the bar by Tilly who was really friendly & made us feel so welcome. Food arrived in super fast time - Rachy M made sure we were happy & our food was delicious. We really didn’t want to leave !! All the staff were lovely & Rachy M made sure everything was perfect for us. Can’t wait to return !!!!! xxxx

We always request the corner round table. Very sociable and spacious.The staff are very Helpfull, when we recently had an issue this was dealt with promptly and cautiously.The next week we went same staff. But they were brilliant, when we popped in for lunchtime food.I always have the gammon with egg and pineapple mix . I don’t know what it is about it but I have never had a poor experience.Will use again next week for business

Slight problem on arrival our table for 6 reservation was occupied, but was quickly resolved! Pre-booked the set 3-course meal and was excellent! Pub very busy but good service and lovely food served by very friendly staff.

My friend and I went this evening for some food and drinks.

Had family get together on sat 7th Dec, when we arrived we were a little nervous after reading poor reviews. We had 5 starters, 5 mains, and puds and coffee. All great, served by a very polite your man, we all had a lovely time.

Took my mom, niece and brother for a meal here tonight, our table was booked for 7pm arrived and ordered slightly earlier than this. Three out of 5 of us wanted Ribeye steak. Went to the bar to order and was informed there was an hour wait for the meal. This was bad enough but let it pass only then to be told they have no Ribeye or Sirloin. When asked why, the reply from the woman behind the bar was because it was steak night! I said that surely the pub should stock up then if its steak night?? No response from the women. Anyways changed our order. After eating our main meal, two of us decided on pudding (choc pyramid) this was at 8.15. Went to order only to be told there was only 1 pyramid available. This place is a joke! Early in the evening and they have run out of food. Wouldn't mind but looking round the pub and no one was eating steak or this pudding!!! Wont be back here!!

Sunday 3 November 2019, my husband and I dropped in here for supper on our way back home. We have been here many times over the years and have experienced various experiences. Sadly, today was very poor, so we have decided that we will not be returning.

Hi to all who reviewed this pub as below average. Perhaps the staff were talking to regulars who keep the business going, rather than those who turn up once a year and expect immaculate service with out the price tag. Yes the nachos are microwaved but to be fair you have bought crisps microwaved that's your fault. The staff are great and with today's modern twist on things perhaps bring your own glass back to the bar when ordering rather than leaving it behind WOW mind blown.

This is a lovely little pub, great food good landlord , good atmosphere ruined by lazy bar staff , an assistant manager that will serve his mates before customers , I had to ask the bar maid who was eating in the back to clear our table after I took my own plates to the bar after sitting with them for about 25 minutes after we had finishing our food , the pub was not busy , less than half empty , nobody checked on our food to see if it was ok “ it was ,the chef is good “ but again we was left with a table full of glasses and was not prepared to go to the bar to ask them to clear the table again so we left . “ lazy assistant manager “ “ lazy bar staff “

I have to say compared to previous visits this was not good. My Nacho starter was microwaved to death and my partners mushrooms were solid and greasy. And his fish and chips were very greasy. No one asked us how our meal was and we were served very quickly between courses. With staff busy talking to there freinds at the bar to take my order straight away.

We went out for an early evening meal, with my Father in law 4 of us to start his 90th Birthday celebration the following day.

We booked a table here for my partners grandads 80th birthday and had a really nice time. The food was tasty and the service was good. Although it was a Saturday night the restaurant didn’t seem to have any issues catering for my young niece and it wasn’t too noisy in there which was good. The only improvement I think would be the ability to order drinks from the table whilst ordering food- having to head back to the bar with a quite large drinks order after your food order had been taken was a little inconvenient but not too much of an issue to make me not return again. I’m sure we’ll be back sometime soon.

Really nice meal, well cooked food and great service. Colin and wotto were fabulous and offered to take our drinks to the table and came over to ask if everything was okay and if they could get us anything else. Will definitely be returning!

Three of us visited for lunch today and the food was excellent. We had sea bass, lasagna and yorkshire pudding with sausages and mash. All were cooked fresh (by Beth and Tilly) and tasted excellent. We haven't been for a long time but we will certainly be going back.

Not been to the Star in a long time, but for ease of location went last Friday 2nd Aug for lunch with my Sister and school chum. we ordered from the fixed menu. The food took an astoundingly long time, I had to ask when it would be served considering all of it was just something with chips!

When our daughter visited for a few days we decided to go to The Star for lunch.

We visited the star in June 2019 and found the place excellent. The food was well cooked, tasted good, and was served quite quickly especially as we were there at lunchtime. The service was excellent too, we will go back.

Friendly, clean environment. Outstanding food and service. Would strongly recommend. Prices very reasonable for huge meals.

EVERYTIME I eat here I regret it. Once again took over an hour for food to arrive, one main and one starter oh and the main was sent back as was the wrong order!!!

Crap service and never again, the barman cannot see who comes to the bar first but two guys we served before me...Never again

Visited one lunchtime with my mom..both had the chargrill chicken and chips followed by Apple pie..chicken was a little dry but edible..

The food I was served today was appalling. I returned the vegetarian cauliflower curry as the cauliflower was not cooked and the curry was bland. It was replaced by fish and chips, the fish was inedible,poor quality , the oven chips were over cooked, it was the worst meal I have ever been served. By contrast the staff are amazing, very kind, helpful and attentive. The atmosphere is terrific, great place for socialising, What a shame the food is so dreadful. Never to return again!!

My husband and I have not long moved to the area and we thought we'd try our local for Valentine's last night. We'd been to an Ember Inn quite recently so I was familiar with the menu but as always I'd check the menu online whilst we're there. The lady knew I was gluten free as i'd mentioned it quite a few times and she even checked with the chef to see if the soup was gluten free which it wasn't. So I opted for the sharing nachos as it states on their website they're gluten free and the lady reassured me that if it's on their website then it will be gluten free. Ordered our mains at the same time as you do and received our nachos quite quickly, which were nice. I'm cheese intolerant too so they added plenty of dipping sauces. Mains we're served and as I ordered the achari curry poppadoms came with my meal and the last time I'd ordered this at another ember inn they didn't come with it...so I asked the gentleman which I presume was the chef, if they were gluten free and he wasn't sure and asked me if I was gluten free as he didn't have a record of it which I presumed the lady would've added that major detail to my order. The chef came back to me and told me they were gluten free but the nachos weren't!!! You can imagine how I felt once I heard that as if'd already ate half of the sharing platter...i naturally started to panic. I told him that it's on your website that they're gluten free, he then said they probably are it's just when they're cooked in our fryers then they're not. It didn't register at first but then my husband told me they're not cooked they're just emptied from a packet and place on a plate which that's obvious, especially with how they came. Luckily I've woken up this morning and I'm fine so I presume everything I ate didn't contain gluten but it just ruined our romantic evening out and it's not a nice introduction to our local pub. We were actually going back there this Saturday with family relatives but unfortunately we've made other arrangements. I don't think we will be heading back there in a hurry. My advice would be if you fancy going there and you are allergic or intolerant to anything...check, check and triple check before you order!!!

I'm not in the habit of leaving negative feedback but I've got no time for corporate greed at the expense of the little guy either so..... I booked a table at the Star for the wife's birthday weeks ago. Had a call from one of the ladies (Tilly?) confirming soon afterwards which was a pleasant touch. However, we arrived to find no reservation in place and one side of the room reserved for a large party. I announced us at the bar, the landlord was very sheepish about our arrival and we were ushered out the back where it was already very busy and to be crammed into a table with no breathing space and certainly no marking of any reservation on the table so it wasn't previously reserved for us. The wife was very upset and demanded we leave. As we were leaving we noticed a number of tables with reservations on them but no room for us despite our booking. Thanks Ember for a wonderful birthday present but the profits from a large party are far more important aren't they??

Went here with three adults and two children under 5 recently. The staff were very helpful in finding us a table to suit. High Chair was provided. We all had different food which I have to say was up to their high standard as usual.

Absolutely disgraceful had booked our Christmas Dinner for Christmas Day 2nd sitting expecting a lovely relaxing experience. Like we had previously experienced the year before. However I was greatly disappointed with the 1 1/2 hour wait to be served and after asking for our meal (due to my family’s diabetes). We had been told that this year they had decided to double up on the covers served this year- they clearly did not have the capacity or the resources to manage the volume of customers- which is very poor especially on a day which was supposed to be special for us. I really can’t fault the staff as they tried so hard, this is completely poor management and decision to accept this volume is of financial greed on the managements part and as a result effect the customers experience. I’ve raised a complaint and awaiting a response from the management team. I can only say if they are to take double covers this coming Christmas look else for a more pleasant experience.

Myself and 2 friends visited for lunch around 1:30pm last Friday and were very disappointed with the service. We ordered 2 starters and 3 mains to come at the same time (all but one were from the set menu) and had to wait over an hour for our food. After 40 minutes I asked a server how long our food would be and she quickly brushed me off saying your food is on the way, then 5 minutes later came over and abruptly asked if we wanted the starters and mains to come out at the same time.

Very bad service, so slow that for each of the three courses I had to ask if they had forgot out meals. We were told to be there ready for our meals at 12-30 because there were going to be two sittings for the lunch, we were ther in plenty of time but it was an hour before we has our first course. Very bad experience and I pity the people who were booked for the second sitting. I said to the guy behind the bar when I paid you have obviousley not enought staff, he said tell be about it, this is no excuse on such a busy important day. All in all it was pretty chaotic....

We had for our meals today 2 x burger/bacon baps with chips.

Visited with friends, a busy night, but staff were friendly and efficient. We didn't wait long for our meals which were plentiful and well presented. Very good value for a three course meal, a good atmosphere throughout.

Took my mother and father in law for the first time. Like us they have agreed if you want to have a home cooked meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere this is the place to come. Staff are friendly and although we usually come on a Sunday for the roast we love the lunch time deals during the week. Thanks to all the Star staff for making all our visits welcoming

We came to this pub for Sunday dinner with our two kids (2 and 6 years) the staff were helpful initially; giving the kids some colouring in sheets and crayons. We ordered; a lot of our choices were not available but I accept that because it was 17:30 and it had likely been busy.

Sunday 28th October 2018, my husband and I went out with our friend Gill for a meal to celebrate her 81st Birthday. We all went out for Sunday Lunch to ‘The Star Inn’ at Burntwood near Litchfield.

Come for dinner Sunday evening , lovely food, great portion sizes , waitress Stacey was very friendly and helpful, even down to bringing my son colouring pictures which I thought was lovely of her. bar staff I found a little uninterested and messing around behind the bar together , a male and young dark haired female didn’t get there names, but apart from that very happy with my meal.

We are disappointed with the Star over recent weeks, if all you want is a Sunday roast then its still fine but with their new restricted menu on a Sunday that's all you can get. Often you want a smaller meal but now it's not available

The service was decent, the drinks and food were decent. In general everything is pretty average but nothing special

Visited the star on 29th September, for a birthday meal ,there was seven of us . We ordered the set menu , when the starters arrived ( breaded mushrooms) there was no salad with the starters, so we went to the bar and asked the bar staff for the salad , we were told it didn’t come with salad despite being on the menu . When we showed a different member of staff it did we got the salad. The waitress/bar staff brought over one small bowl between five of us , when asked if we could have another bowl she rolled her eyes as if we were putting her out . When the main meals arrived, had a couple of issues with temperature of food . The whole day was sullied by the attitude of the staff and contradicting the customer about what is on the menu and what is not . This is not the first time we have had issues here , something seems to have changed here recently,as before on many visits we have always felt very welcomed and have been coming here for several years. Reluctant to visit here again .

My friend and I went to the Star today, I’ve been a few times before and food was ok. Today we had the Sunday roast. It arrived within 5 minutes of ordering and was just about warm, dried up and awful. The chicken was cooked nicely but the veg was hard and almost cold, the roast potatoes were dry and hard so not nice at all. We had to ask for some extra gravy as there was hardly any on the dinner. Rubbish

We have been to the Star several times now and I must say their Sunday lunch is the best in the area. They actually know how to make good gravy which is rare over recent years, don't know why its easy enough.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, very quick service. My wife and I both had a Sunday lunch each. Everything was over cooked and rather tasteless. It was a shame the meal was not of a good standard as the pub is lovely and so are the staff were great. I’ll go again for a drink but I’m not sure I’ll have a meal there.

One of our group recommended The Star for our lunchtime reunion. So we headed over armed with our 20% off voucher. The staff were all very friendly and it was appropriate that we went up and ordered our food and drink rather than being waited on. The food was all very tasty and hot when it came out, the portion sizes were on the small size but because we ordered from the set menu I guess they were about right. We all had a lovely afternoon sitting out in the garden. The discount was fantastic, would definitely recommend

Went here on our way back from Lichfield. Seemed a 'local' pub. Food was ok and not huge portions. Kids enjoyed theirs, husband wasn't best impressed with his burger. Wouldn't return I don't think.

This is our third visit recently and each time the meal has been lovely! Everything looks fresh and nice and hot. Can tell the place has improved as it always seems quite busy. Nice beer garden too with someone always collecting the glasses.

A regular choice for family lunch/dinner. Nice atmosphere. Good value meals friendly team. Bar staff very accommodating and helpful. Happy to recommend and will return.

Myself and my wife had lunch here today and when our meals arrived I honestly thought they were kids meals they tasted ok but the portions were so small I had to have something else to eat when I left if you're a big eater like me give this place a miss I won't eat there again but to the manager or owner how many more people have been for a meal and thought the same ask yourself the question also a lovely pub but please get someone to paint the walls in the pub it looks so shabby so I had to put this review but something has to change before we eat there again photos of the food is not what they serve

Went to the star for tea with my 2 teenage daughters - we've started coming here weekly as an alternative to our usual choice as the food and service is so much better.

First time there for food Me,my partner and daughter was very happy with food best mixed grill I’ve had in a long time Colin behind the bar was very helpful and friendly couldn’t do enough for us Will be back very soon

Called in for a quick lunch with friends. Service was lovely and friendly and the food was fresh and tasty. Can't give a full house as they did not have my first choice on the menu.

I re-visited the star today (5th april) after having such a brilliant time last time I came, once again the service by Andy, Beth and Colin was outstanding, the chefs, believe their names were chloe and bambi (I believe bambi was the one got served us last time) once again delivered the food quickly and it tasted absolutely gorgeous, as per usual, I recommended this place to a lot of my friends and they’ve all said that they’ve had brilliant service, especially off the three managers Jess, Bambi and Andy Pye, can really tell that they will go far in their career wherever it leads them, keep doing what your doing and this pub will be the best in burntwood

easy to get in with wheelchair, a very good start. ordered meal, friendly staff, food was tasty, i had the pasta meal off the lunch time menu.i have had this previously and enjoyed it on both occasions, i had garlic bread as a side order, 2 generous slices of bread, very nice. Glad we made a last minute decision to go to the star.

Latest of many visits to this smallish Ember Inns pub. Three of us, three different meals, all beautifully presented and the lasagne, pie and the sea bass were just right! The 4 real ales on offer were very well kept and reflect a real interest on behalf of the management. It is also worth noting that there is a 20p a pint discount if you show your CAMRA membership card.

Visited today for lunch with the family, 7 of us in total. The meal took 2 1/2 hours in total, even though the restaurant was empty. Fish was cold for the fish and chips, sausages burnt with the sausage and mash and the apple pie was bland, burnt and soggy. Really disappointing, we will not be returning for a very long time.

Visited here today for lunch with friends and what a great time we had.

Good food, pleasant staff and a friendly atmosphere. I will be back there with friends in the very near future.

Came here on the 11th of jan for a nice catch up with some old friends, and what an experience...

Live in the local area and drive past every day and thought to try it out. Should of just kept on driving.

When for dinner, the food was lovely and the staff were friendly, very good on price and a lovely atmosphere.

Not so long ago I wrote a review about The Star, and after what I thought was a fair and balanced review, I was asked why only 3 stars.

Went in on Tuesday (7th November) to be greeted by warm friendly smiles from the bar staff Andy, Andy (Bambi) and Lauren, we ordered our food, and within 10 minutes or so it was in front of us, piping hot and looking lovely, tasted how it looked as well, all in all a great experience thanks to very helpful and friendly staff, will definitely be returning in the near future

Tried The Star again on Sunday for a roast. The Beef and pork in the trio of roast meats were poor - the best part was the roast chicken. The roast potatoes tasted as if they were frozen. The 2 course deal value would have been o.k. - as long as you knew what dessert you wanted when you ordered your main course. This was not made clear either on the menu or by the staff when ordering. Consequently the staff required the full price to be paid when trying to order dessert later. Needless to say we did not buy any.

Went in on Sunday for the Sunday Menu which clearly states after ordering the Sunday roasts, you can then order off the sweet menu for £2-00. so, after the meal, went up to

The star is a great place to be on a Saturday night! Most people come here before hitting the town, great drinks, staff are nice, food is also good here, it’s usually very busy on a Saturday but in the week for a quite drink with friends or family it’s usually nice and quite not too busy, I do like coming here nice pub great atmosphere!

Went for a drink but a good crowd early doors on friday,the meals looked great,we enjoyed the atmodphere.

Came here for family meal early evening at 6.30. My son has always sworn by the ultimate burgers which I hadn't tried before so both me and hubbby also tried one. My parents had steak and scampi. Service was very good and the burgers wow do deserve their name ! Parents also enjoyed their food and we all left with very full bellies !

Meet my friends for lunch 12.30 no one on there, offered coffee at bar along with our good, waited 20 mins for coffee to be made brought to table, i had chicken it waw dry, over cooked, chips were cold, salad was brown lettuce, wasnt even table checked, awful service as there wad abt 19 people in by this time, god knows hows they would cope if it was busy, ruined nice lunch out, all we got was free coffee of the bill

Sunday 10th September 17, we went with our friend Gill for Sunday Lunch, we had not booked, and there was plenty of room when we arrived at 12.30pm. .We were seated on a table by the window, we looked at the menu and then went to order our food. Our starters were fine, My husband had the carrot and coriander soup for his starter, which he said was nice. Gill had the prawn cocktail for her starter, which she said were very nice. I had the breaded mushrooms with a garlic dip, which was very nice. Sadly, it was not the case with the main courses. My husband and I had the braised beef, which came in a large lump with vegetables and gravy and was not very well presented. The meat was hard and very fatty and gristly in places, it tasted ok, but we would not have it again - very disappointing, also it was luke warm and not hot as should have been if it had been slow cooked for hours as stated on the menu.Gill had the Sunday roast beef dinner, which had two very fatty skimpy slices of beef and the vegetables were raw and uncooked and warm. Gill was very disappointed with the meal.The waitress who served us was surly, she just plonked the plates down and walked away and did not ask us if we wanted any sauces etc.; so we had to go to the bar and ask for them. Called early afternoon for a shared snack & after 3 previous pub restraunts failed along the way was glad to find the Star Inn Burntwood.We fancied baked camembert or Yorkshire ham with chutney etc, amazingly both not available. Settled for a Mozzarella Flat bread chicken + bacon & chutney, glad in the end the previous choices were not as the flatbread pizza was amazingly good 5star. Together with a pleasant ambience a pleasant result. Thank you.

We called in on a Monday dinner on the off chance, as opposed to going home, We were pleasantly surprised, not only can you use your AA membership discount you get a decent lunch you are able to choose from a fine choice of real ales into the bargain.So we were pleasantly pleased, The fortunes of the designated driver,their turn next time, at least they had a free lunch.I would recommend THE STAR any day of the week, good food at reasonable prices.
