The Star Hotel - Ember Inns in Lichfield

First time here and even though it was fireworks night and the place was very busy, we didn't wait long for our food, which was very nice and good value for money, we were served quickly at the bar and the staff were very attentive. Highly recommended.

Meal was not appealing at all ordered a surf and turf however when I got it the tomato had seen better days the onion ring was a piece of onion no resemblance at all, then to top it all there was no prawns, after asking the staff were very dismissive wouldn't go again

What a find! Was passing by and noticed this charming little pub on the way back from a meeting in Lichfield- great food and amazing service, will definitely make an effort to return

Just moved into the area, this is a gem good food, beer and service is amazing. And a Camra pub more of these please. Something on the menu for everyone.

Loved the star hotel and enjoyed a lovely meal . Only thing I will say about it is it needs a bit of TLC as needs decorating , and the toilets need looking at and cleaning up . All the same I enjoyed our time in there .

I visit The Star Hotel each week to perform at its very enjoyable Open-Mic Night. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The service is always great, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Incredible atmosphere with an open mic night full of variety. Friendly bar staff, Nico and Baz always make an effort to greet us. Food is delicious with prompt service. Thoroughly recommended

No steak or pies available, which didn't affect my party but still not great on a Monday night. Food we had was tasty and the staff attentive and friendly. Bit quiet but think that was the day of the week.

Great evening out with friends ,very good quality food,very reasonably priced. We normally go into Lichfield to met our friends, but last twice,felt very much rushing you to finish and go as they want the table. Massive thanks to Nico, Baz and Jasmine for making our table of 8 feel so stand out. A birthday celebration for a friend with food, drinks and service all aligning to create the 'event' we wanted. The Sea Bass was stunning and nothing but empty plates all round. The team effort in such a busy environment ensured we didn't feel remotely rushed or left wanting. Try the HPA by the pint and the Merlot by the bottle! Well worth the visit...thanks for a lovely evening!

The Star could be a lovely pub. Its staff are wonderful, the locals are nice, the drinks are good. But the interior is absolutely awful, torn seats, horrid carpets, leaking ceilings, and toilets. Ember Inns should be ashamed, letting a pub get in this state. It's not fit for purpose. Yet, with some support, it could be brilliant. The staff aren't to blame. They do the best with what they have. Investment is desperately needed...are board members listening?

We didn't eat this time but we had a friendly welcome and a very layed back atmoshere, a nice couple of pints hassle free in the beer garden. I ate here a while back and the food was great.

I went for Sunday lunch with my distinguished gentlemen (the mandem). The food was simply wonderful. The gammon had a delightfully salty note that lingered on the tongue, which left me reeling for more. The stuffing wrapped in bacon was a novel ideal which I very much enjoyed. Abi and Luke were very hospitable, and had top banter. 10/10 would go back.

Popped in today for a lunchtime drink after a couple of days away. The welcome from Luke and Rachael was professional, warm and genuine. All the team at the Star are welcoming and go above and beyond other pubs in the group. The Sunday dinners look good too😋

After my last experience I was a little reluctant to dine there again but we decided to give it another try and I am happy to say we all absolutely loved the meal and the atmosphere, the staff are really nice and welcoming I would definitely recommend the star and will go again very soon

The star is a great pub. Warm and friendly. Great food for a M&B pub. New staff means better service. A lot more professional. Took my family for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Will definitely be back. Plus dogs are welcome in the bar.

We visited The Star last night for a nice drink in the beer garden whilst the sun was still shining. After having a few beers and seeing other people ordering food which looked pretty good we decided to have a meal . Me and my partner both decided on a mixed grill and we were not disappointed. The food arrived quickly and everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back for more.The service was brilliant and can't be faulted. Well done guys 👍🏻

I went here for my step dad's birthday the staff are very kind and polite the food is very good for the price nice size portions and great service. I have no complaints about the star its worth a visit qnd then your hooked.

Popped in for lunch today and it was a new menu since my last visit. There was lots of variety and it was hard to choose. I went for the open steak sandwich and Cajun fries and it was absolutely delicious.

The new menu is amazing! I will be back to try other things! Recommend the tandoori skewer! Great service from Mollie and Colin as always!

Waited 45 mins and complained before food arrived. It was lukewarm. Drinks order was wrong came with ice in spite of twice being told we did not want.

The place needs painting, cleaning and repairing. Walls are scratched, in one place the ceiling is dirty, one of the bench seats has the leather cover torn apart, radiators are dirty. It was lovely when they had the renovation years back, but they need to take care of a lot of things now. Food is ok. Lovely staff though.

Had an amazing service from baz, livvy and wotto. We have had amazing food, so compliments to the chef, great atmosphere and great vibes in the bar! A massive Big up to the star staff!!!

Come here often and everytime is better than the last. Staff are great and drink too. Fair prices too with the rise of cost of living. Helps my friends with allergens. Before i came here, I read the reviews and seen some poor ones, but all I can say is don't knock it til you try it. 10/10 will go again!

Although though pub was quite busy service was fast molly and jazz in particular were working hard but didn’t let them stop how welcoming they were and how polite they were.

Ordered a BLT Ciabatta and got sent a baguette. Raised and questioned the waitress about this as it wasn't what I had ordered and all I got back was that's what you get. Really disappointed with the answer and the way the staff member dealt with this. I'm guessing the staff member just thought I was being difficult but there's a big difference between these 2 types as I wouldn't have ordered this dish. Will not be going back

Well cooked steak, cooked to perfection. My friend really enjoyed the curry and sides too. As it was Curry night it was a really good deal too.

Came for food yesterday at 6pm, pub was quite busy but still plenty of seating free. Asked barmaid if we could order food to which she replied "don't know, can you?"and then laughed. We asked for vegan burger but said they didn't have any. Then we asked for fish and chips to be told they didn't have any and then said they did have. We asked for a beef lasagne only to be told they didn't have any of that either. All these things were on the menu and at 6pm, i would have thought should still be available. There was tables reserved so i hope they didn't want any of the above food as they were going to be very disappointed. We left to find food elsewhere as we had a vegetarian with us and there was nothing else on the menu for her

Came in for Sunday dinner with some friends and family, the team were so kind and friendly made us feel so wanted and the Sunday beef dinner was perfect best Sunday dinner I’ve had out in a long time

Group of 25 of us booked up for breakfast/brunch prior to a day at the races. Luke (manager) and his staff were brilliant in making sure all food was prepared and served on time for us to catch our coach. Breakfasts themselves were all hot, well cooked and excellent value - just what was needed!

Visited The Star for breakfast prior to a day at Uttoxeter Races. The food was excellent and served very promptly considering there were 28 of us eating at the same time. Great value for money also and all served by a very friendly chef / waiter. Thoroughly recommend.

Great staff and service was very quick. Food was Ok and the dessert tasty. Shame about all the tweaking to the roast lunches because we're no longer happy with them, filling up a plate with barely roasted diced up veggies and using cheaper cuts of beef which isn't even properly stated on the menu whilst at the same time upping the price doesn't look great but I've no doubt others would disagree. We tried different meals this time but it just wasn't the same as our monthly Sunday lunch treat so we've agreed not to come back. Maybe a quick midweek lunch every now and then but certainly not a prebook have to do it monthly Sunday lunch.

Has the management and chef changed in the last few months? The food a few months ago was excellent, it was so good we took 10 friends there and payed for all, the food was yummy, 10 plus stars. Today 29/02/24 we went and ordered ermmnn not what we could call food, maybe burnt ends, not the 20 shades of grey but the 8 shades of black on the mixed grill, the prawns and squid had obviously been in some kind of underwater volcanic disaster, we should have realised when we watched people sending food back. Nice staff get Carlos outta the kitchen. Also check the ladies toilets once the doors are closed, my wife expressed her concerns to me about the lovely dry poo murals that the cleaners have missed. Won't be back.

Had a lovely night 17 of us went to celebrate Daughters 30th birthday , food was excellent and they couldnt do enough for us to make our evening special shout out to our waitress Liv who went the extra mile with her service, we would recoment and will be returning

Large party (16) that was celebrating birthdays. Upon arrival, staff were friendly and we were quickly seated. Normally, beef Sunday Lunch has gone despite the earlier meal time leaving Grandad grumpy. However, this time we were able to order beef and my gosh it was worth it! The beef just fell off the bone it was so tender. A few people had desserts where even the mini portion was of ample size. Well done The Star you exceeded our expectations and we had a lovely celebration time. Thank you.

First time there, beef rib was beautifull Portions are good size. Apple crumble was lovely. The waiter who served us was a really lovely man, very polite, and professional. Definitely will be returning.

Always accommodating and friendly

This was my regular for years , we went recently and it has changed a lot ,more open plan now, a good choice of beers, the food was excellent ,the sliced ham egg and chips was fabulous 😋 staff was very attentive. 👍

Tables are sticky and wobbly too close together. Not a nice space to be honest.

Food was awful and the meat was tough as old boots
