Harvester - Bassets Pole in Lichfield

Im writing to say I highly recommend the harvester at the Bassett pole the atmosphere is always inviting and friendly, The staff there make the experience very enjoyable for children especially those with additional needs. I do have to give a big a mention regarding certain front of house staff namely Casey and Tasha who always go out there way to make each visit a lovely experience for the family but especially my children. They are both a credit to the staff team. They are both always happy and chatty to the customers which makes the whole meal and visit more enjoyable and place to spend your hard earned cash. I think having the same licensee and management team in place for over 25 years has made this a very special Harvester that is such a lovely, safe and friendly family pub. Highly recommended and especially for individuals with additional needs.

I am absolutely appalled by the behaviour of two staff members. Myself, my mom and my daughter visited this afternoon. Our waitress, Bev, came over to take our order. She asked if we had any offers, and my mom asked if they were still doing the wowcher deal. Bev said they were, but told us to “get the voucher first” and she would bring us the relevant menus. We explained we would need a few minutes to purchase it online, and she said that was fine. We purchased the £40 option. She came over 10 minutes later and said, “oh actually, it’s not on on a Saturday” we were absolutely gobsmacked and explained we had just brought it after she said it was on, and that she would get our wowcher menus. We asked to speak to the manager (Susan) After nobody came back to see us I walked to the front of the restaurant to find 2 staff members and the manager having a chat. I asked what was going to happen. Susan told me that Wowcher wasn’t currently on and that she would do us a 2 course lunch menu that we would need to pay for on top of what we had spent on wowcher. I explained that we had just spent £40 due to her staff member saying that wowcher was running that day, and that we didn’t have extra money on top of that. She said “well you’re not using your Wowher here so what do you want” she continued to soeak to me in an extremely abrupt manor, to the point I asked her not to speak to me like that. She told me she was willing to do nothing else, and acted like I should be grateful. She said that it was a misunderstanding, and that her staff member (Bev) was partly responsible. I said it was 100% not our faults, and Bev said “I did say look at the t&c’s” which she absolutely did not. My mom cane over as I said I was leaving due to the way I was treated, and apparently Susan said she would knock some money off due to a “partial misunderstanding from the staff member” I honestly have never received such terrible customer service. We went to McDonald’s opposite and can honestly say that the service there was 100% better than the shambles at Bassets Pole Harvester!

I am pleased to see no recent reviews to do with car parking but have found one from 2019 which I wish I had seen before today. I was attending a wake following a funeral in 2022. From out of town so the area was also very unfamiliar to me. I was also not advised of any charge with car parking and I guess given it was a wake the organisers did not think to let out of town people know. I was fined. Life then happened and unfortunately the charge went for collection which I have now paid. I see a response from the then manager advised that contact could have been made with Harvester to sort but I was not actually even aware of where / how I managed to get the fine and did assume it was a mistake. The location details were not very clear and no photo evidence was provided. Anyway...I remember the food for the wake being good and the staff very attentive and considerate given the circumstances but do hope that there is now much clearer signage and / or effort for staff to ask patrons if they have paid for their parking. I am fully aware I am responsible for this error but I have never had to pay for parking when going to a pub in the past...or to this date...so it just did not occur to me. A sad event to follow a sad day :-)

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Not so great was the fact we were served food whist the table was left with debris from the first course, My chicken was overcooked so I had to ask for it to be sent back.instead of replacing the whole meal I was told to eat what was on the plate whilst a fresh chicken was cooked? I also asked for another pot of gravy which never arrived. I was very dissapointed with the overall level of service. I have visited this harvester on a number of occasions and have always been happy with the good and service, this time I left feeling underwhelmed by the food and service provided.

Food is good value, atmosphere is very good, clean environment and staff were brilliant. Well done as the team are a credit to the management.

Great food, nice atmosphere. Was a bit busy so we had to wait 10 mins past our booking time, but other than that everything was on point.

Went for lunch today 7 October with 3 friends as we do once a month. Food was excellent and service excellent. Special mention to our waitress Helen who looks after us exceptionally. Her professionalism must be an asset to Harvester. Looking forward to ext months meeting.

Joe made our meal brilliant by looking after our table with kindness and fun . He gave our young boys so much lovely attention that they enjoyed themselves so much they want to come back . Thank you Joe

Went with family and a family member had an accident last night and the staff member helped him up with me and all staff made sure there was a private atmosphere and also that he was okay. They all did great.

First time here. On the way home. Lady at the entrance was very welcoming, waiting Staff were fabulous very friendly. Food was good. The salad selection was perfect. The garlic slaw was 🤤 Thank you. Definitely visit again.

Came here for a family meal... Great service from Susan and the staff here at Bassets Pole Harvester... All very welcoming and hospitable. The place looks lovely... It was refurbished to a very high standard last year by M & B. Plenty of outside tables... Ideal for them warmer days. We arrived and had to wait 15 minutes for a table on Thursday afternoon, no issue. But I had to wait 5 minutes for someone to come serve myself and others at the bar. The restaurant wasn't overly busy and this wasn't the end of the world but if your bar is open and you have people waiting for tables it should be staffed. Food wise salad bar was good as usual but the sauce/dip was running low. We had the mixed grill and a burger. The steak was requested medium but came well done. The gammon, egg and burgers were overcooked and difficult to cut/eat. Also had loaded onion rings, these were great! Disappointing because used to love coming to the harvester but the last few visits have felt underwhelming. The Staff were great when checking on the food though and the wait for food wasnt long at all.

Visited the harvester today. We were served by Casey. She provided absolutely amazing service. Most likely the best waitress I have ever encountered. The kitchen seem to be under pressure as the food wasn’t up to the normal standard, though it was still lovely. We enjoyed our meal. Casey is a credit to the place!

Staff are friendly. Food is good and price is fair

We visit Harvester Bassets Pole at least once a week. Russ is always so welcoming when we see him a real credit to the team. Amber was our sever tonight and is always pleasant and delivers great service. Always great food without much wait.

Bev on arrival was very welcoming and explained about the breakfast menu,and that you get free refillable hot drinks. We did not know this as it was our first time in a Harvester. Bev was most apologetic when I found a hair in my breakfast and was quick to ask if I wanted another breakfast. Very good customer service and a very nice establishment.

Although we were 10 minutes late it didn 't seem to matter and we were welcomed and treated courteously. The drinks arrived quickly and the food, when it arrived was fresh, hot and very flavourful. On leaving we were thanked and wiched a pleasant evening. .

Abi our server was nice and polite looked after everything we needed.

Had breakfast here today and it was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful the breakfast was great I had the ultimate with unlimited tea ☕. I'm set up for the Day now. If driving remember to put your registration into the little computer thing by the main entrance.

Regular lunchtime diners - Helen, Tash, Russ, Bev, Chris & Sue always look after us.

Staff are always super friendly and accommodating, and the food is always consistently tasty. Go there every month and never had a bad meal.

We love coming to Bassetts pole harvester , the staff are always welcoming and friendly and always accommodating, special mention to Nile and Joe had a lovely breakfast this morning .

Bargain 3 courses for £15.49. Food ok, service really good. Was all a little flat as we had been to a funeral, staff were lovely and cheered us up

Fabulous service from Alicia, well looked after. Food was lovely, accommodated to a party of us.

We had a dirty bird burger, half a roast chicken, two children's burgers, and a rocky horror sundae. The chicken burger was very good. The roast chicken was OK, but a bit boring. The sundae was lacking chocolate sauce to go with the dry brownie, so was a bit plain. Once again the offers in here were confusing and the kids eat for £1 might not be the bargain you think it is.

My daughter had her birthday meal here with her close friends and the who experience from start to finish was excellent the staff couldn’t do enough food was lovely and all came out together I can’t recommend this place enough can’t wait to visit again

What you would expect from Harvester but this restaurant stands out for excellent service and food particularly the salad bar.

It's a good restaurant 😋 to bring the family to. Good food, well cooked and served by friendly helpful staff. 👌 but it's a little on the expensive side compared to other eateries of a similar size.

Visited here when we stayed at Drayton Manor Food and service was great, A big shout out to Alicia top waitress.

Busy, but great service. Food is delicious.

Great experience. Excellent menu. Chicken skewers were delicious with hot honey. Extensive salad bar included. A lovely lady (Bev) found us a table even though they were busy and we had just called in on the off chance on way back from the NEC to Derbyshire. Bev looked after us well and delivered a great service.

Never been to a Harvester for breakfast so we gave it a go. The service was good and there was a nice variety of breakfast options to choose from. Bacon was a bit dry but other than that we enjoyed our meal.

Very satisfactory experience. Grace, our waitress was exceptional .

Really good staff, as a funny eater I end up taking quite a bit off my plate and Chris the Chef ended up giving me more of food that I liked so my meal was worth the price. Thanks Chris!

Went for lunch as we always do once a month on Monday 12 August. Meal and service were excellent. A really special mention to our waitress Helen. She always looks after us and nothing is too much bother for her. She is really professional and must be a good asset to Bassetts Pole Harvester. Unfortunately just on this occasion the meal arrived but the chips weren’t warm. Mentioned this to Helen and within a couple of minutes pipping hot chips were served by Helen. Will see you again in 4 weeks.

Part of a chain . Good car park, located off a very busy traffic island . 40% discount worth a visit . Otherwise, high price small to medium portion for what ?. Not value for money . Staff pleasant, hard-working food and drink good quality . Service can't complain.

Lexi is an absolute diamond with exceptional customer care skills. Took the family for a meal including 2 deaf and an additional 2 Hungarian diners and Lexi was patient, kind and delivered a fab service. Credit to her. Hadn't been here since covid and had really felt disappointed previous visits. Thought we'd give it a chance and was so pleased with the experience that we returned with the kids 2 days later!

Great harvester which I haven't been to in years as my last visit was totally awful.... this time a total 360 and all the food was totally spot on. Service was great and overall a good experience

Lovely food. Jo our first waitress who was new was really lovely. Also Tash who took over as our waitress was Lovely too.

Had a really nice visit for my birthday. Great facilities and really clean. Salad bar was well stocked :p Our food was all really tasty, and Helen was really friendly and talked us through our food choices and how to work the app - thank you!

10 of us for dinner, service from the young lady was great, food was good, salad bar had good fresh selection, liked it.

Slowest service ever and the place wasn’t heaving because a Wednesday night. Good extremely average with luke warm chips and a dry over cooked (burnt) burger. Definitely creative license calling the waffle rocky horror with maybe 5 cubes of chocolate and a small squadge of sauce. I think harvester has fallen a bit into anonymity lately and after a performance like this I’m happy for that to continue.

Can’t fault the food quality and taste, this is now my favourite place to get a bite to eat. Advice is to try go mid week when not as busy.

We eat here a lot (kids favourite) the management have stayed the same for years, but for some reason, on our most recent visit, the female manager was so moody it was unreal. I tried to talk and make jokes, and she just kind of looked through me. That aside, my server was good (as usual) The salad bar needed restocking, the bacon bits were stale, almost as if they had gotten damp. My wife ordered surf and turf with steak medium, she got a well done piece. We couldn't be bothered to send it back (given the above) It's a shame they done away with the potato skins as it was my eldest daughters favourite. Other than that, the rest of the food was good. It's put us off a little, so we won't rush back, but we will undoubtedly go back again.

3 stars is from average comparing kitchen to the service. Service is 5 stars. Unfortunately kitchen can’t do the steaks as ordered. We asked for medium, but both well well done. Lady serving our table offered support and asked if we want new steaks, but we declined. The only reason was that we do not like a food wasting.

The food was excellent and the service was above and beyond. We don't live in that area but we will definitely be returning.

The steak was partly gristle and tough; the chicken, although very tender, somehow was equally dry. You couldn't eat all of the chicken without a drink to help swallow it. This was the mixed grill.

I absolutely love eating here! Super friendly staff are always polite and courteous. The salad bar is my granddaughter's favourite as she tries everything. 15 minutes from order to table and tge food is awesome. I tried the BBQ Combo Special, and it was everything I hoped for. Salads, main meal and pudding I just need a sit down and maybe a kip!

Me and my friends had a lovely evening at the harvester. Our waiter niall was absolutely amazing from his brilliant service yo his lovely personality!! Will definitely be returning and hopefully get niall again.
