We were visiting family, and decided to take a walk to try a local pub. Kiara made our time there really nice and went above and beyond. We shared a sandwich,chips and soup which they very kindly put in 2 bowls for us to make it easer. The food was really tasty and I would really recommend it

Today, a large party of Royal Lancer Old Comrades and Veterans arrived for a Curry Lunch post Remembrance Service at the Arboretum. We were warmly welcomed, served delicious food and accommodated in a warm, traditional old English pub. A big shout to the chef and staff, in particular Grafton the landlord. Thank you and hopefully we will see you next year - 5 Stars.

We have lived in Alrewas for nearly 40 years and our recent visit to The Crown was the best we've had in a long time. Great service from friendly and engaging staff and beautiful tasty food; the bread and butter pudding was the best ive had. The pub was busy as it was bonfire night but the atmosphere was perfect. Will be back soon

Well we didn't book - had been to the NMA for an event. ( no flypast) food drink and service were second to none. The lovely girl at the bar and serving us is an asset. Food wonderful. We will be back. I had the soup and fish goujons in a burger with chips - wow! Husband had double beef burger - wow!

What a turnaround!! Grafton & Lisa worked so hard & have transformed this country village pub; It is such a pleasure to go to for either a drink or meal. Not just a warm welcome and great atmosphere but amazing food and a great wine selection. Staff are always friendly, offering great service and Chris does an amazing expresso Martini!

Too many naysayers discount visiting pubs, always moaning that there's no soul left in the pub trade.... Well, my guests and I had what can only be described as one of the best night's out that we have had in some time. Both the owners were working and, despite being rushed off their feet, still took time to have a few conversations with our table, genuinely interested in us and where we were all from etc. Amazing home cooked food and lovely atmosphere was enjoyed by all. I think the Australian owner was also the chef which is why i assume he really knew his wines and was happy to chat about the fantastic Ozzy Merlot we all devoured!! Will be back for more very soon. Our local - great atmosphere and good food!

Even though it was a busy Sunday lunch, the staff found us a table, the service was fast and the food fresh and really good quality. The bar had some really good real ales and were kept to a good standard, definitely recommend for food.

Three of us went for an early evening meal to the Crown, not having eaten there for a couple of years we were expecting the usual pub grub. We were made very welcome by the staff with great service and a lovely atmosphere in the pub. The menu choice was very good and prices pretty reasonable. But we were totally blown away at how good the food was, this wasn’t pub grub it was high standard meals beautifully presented. We will definitely be back soon, well done to the management and staff.

Very small portion of fish and chips two tiny portions of fish which were smaller than fish fingers job to see the white fish inside the Very greasy batter. It was that bad that we won't be going there for Sunday lunch as planned

Tonight me and some family members enjoyed some fantastic food at the crown inn. Beautiful, well presented food, amazing customer service, nothing was too much hassle, fantastic communication and giggles with my elderly relatives who totally lapped it all up which was lovely to see……. Having not been in the pub for a year. My self and two friends went there for dinner last night , It was recommended to book which we did. The pub has gone through a huge change. We had three different meals, all of which were fantastic. The service we received at the table could not be faulted. Drinks were good . I can't thank the staff more, I'll see you when I travel past again. Well done all

Found this adorable pub by chance while visiting the Arboretum in the area, so pleased we did, staff were very obliging, despite being busy they managed to find us a table, the food was lovely, we had the special chicken burger and Fish & chips, then the crumble and bread /butter pudding, great food , ambience etc highly recommend. Had a wonderful time playing as Closer to the Coast at The Crown in Alrewas. Grafton and all the staff really looked after us and it was a lovely afternoon. Beers were great and food is fantastic - lots of gluten free options which was great for the family.

The Crown is great at the moment under new Manager !! And we had a meal there . It was lovely. Great service.

This pub was a lovely surprise. There was a good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and pleasant. The food was excellent with a bit of eastern influence on the menu. I had the Vietnamese spring rolls as a starter The hot chicken as a main was very good and others in the party thought the pork fillets were some of the best. It is a stones throw from the canal which we were travelling on so handy for an evening meal. A most enjoyable meal

Buzzing pub with limited but decent menu, nice variety beers. As visitors to the village, we found it nice and friendly. Only one niddle, wish some chefs would cook the carrots a bit longer ..... sorry!

What a hidden gem. The staff atmosphere and drinks were amazing. Lovely atmosphere classy but down to earth and the bar staff Chris and are a credit to the owner. They are worth their weight in gold. No one is forgotten and they are so welcoming you just want to come back. Food looks amazing so we will be back to sample that very very soon Puts other pubs in the shadows !!

Much better than the George and dragon. The staff were so help full and the meals looked great.we only had a sweet well worth changing from the George. Well done. Will deffinatly recommend to our customers

Worst slow service of any pub this year. I'll give it a miss next time as there are better pubs in the area. 2024 As there is a new owner I do not want to blemish their reputation so please remember this was two years ago. Wish you all the best and will try next time we are in the area

A real treat on our wedding anniversary. Food absolutely top class as always. Service could not have been better. The atmosphere was great. Good choice of drinks.

Alrewas has really needed a pub for us foodies for a long time and the new owners at The Crown have transformed this into excellent place to eat and drink. The menu is small but we’ve visited 4 times now and tried many of the options and recommendations. Each meal has been hot, tasty and a little bit different to other pubs. I cannot fault the food or the service, absolutely brilliant. Joe is welcoming, as is everybody you meet there. The pub itself is clean, there is village history on all the walls. The garden looks great too 👍 Thank you

A friendly local with good food menu.

Went there for lunch today and the food was wonderful, far better than standard pub food, more like an upmarket restaurant, but pub prices. The service was excellent and you could see that the front of house guy was fully training one of the younger ones. Plus lots of veggie and vegan options, they went out of their way to get my hubby a great vegan dessert. The veggies were fresh and delicious, but the best part was the chocolate brownie, omg that’s the best I’ve ever had! My dad lives in Alrewas, so I’ll be suggesting we go to the Crown whenever I visit!

Superb. Having visited on our last holiday to Alrewas and had really bad food we had decided not to visit again. However the local butcher encouraged us to visit again. So pleased he did. Best food we have had anywhere for ages. Very friendly and helpful staff made for a lovely evening

Just had lunch. Really good food and friendly staff. Had fish which was perfectly cooked. Need to get a good vegetarian/vegan option on the menu though. Definitely going to return.

We live locally and this is our “go to”pub. We’re lucky to have such good quality home-cooked food at reasonable prices - and friendly efficient staff!

I’ve eaten the food here a few times now. It is always fresh and the menu changes to keep with the seasons, but some dishes stay the same, so there are always some favourites available. The staff are lovely and the service is just great. The weekday specials are brilliant.

New ownership and was visiting a mate and sis who live locally. Food was delicious, great options for vegetarians too and amazing desserts. An excellent menu and will definitely visit again. Great service and friendly advice on the local beers too.

Visited the crown inn for Sunday lunch today, it was superb. The service, the food & the atmosphere were all spot on. Travelled nearly an hour to visit here based on a recommendation & was not disappointed and will definitely be back! Thank you to the lovely team for a lovely Sunday afternoon.

Wow.. what a transformation. A really cosy and busy village pub. The menu is absolutely fantastic. I had the chicken and sweetcorn fritters for starter which were so crispy and tasty and my husbands home made spring rolls were just as good! We literally wiped our plates clean. Couldn’t resist 3 courses. Really reasonable prices with most of the main courses being around £12-£13. Great selection of drinks. My husband said it was the tastiest meal he has had for a long time. 100% recommended

What a lovely place to eat and to relax! We had only dessert, but hey, their rhubarb and apple crumble, which actually was gluten free, was delicious. So next time we will be there for a proper meal. Also, it is family friendly and lovely atmosphere, so definitely would visit again.

Visited between Christmas and New Year to celebrate a family birthday. Well, what a great choice to meet and eat here! Such a warm welcome from the team when we arrived, and throughout our meal, the team were great in managing all our requests. The food was excellent, the kids menu was great - apparently 9.5/10 for the burger from our 11 year old (high quality and home made). Really nice atmosphere in the pub. Cosy little areas as well as larger more spacious dining space. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Looking forward to coming back to try out the Sunday lunch.

We booked for a large family lunch (19 of us) to celebrate a Christmas birthday. The food, team, atmosphere were all great. Very interesting menu with plenty of choice for kids (high quality, home made food - definitely not your average low quality high fat carb…) and great choices for GF /Veg. Well done Grafton and team on creating something special. Really looking forward to coming back for a Sunday lunch.

Went to visit after the pub re opened under new management. We were really impressed. Friendly welcome. Efficient staff and lovely food. My husband and daughter tried the burgers and I had the pork dish. All very tasty. Also had to try the puddings which were delicious. The menus offer choices that are different to usual pub meals so it is a wonderful addition to the village. Vegetarian and children’s menu look really good. Wish I was a child so I could try the frog in a pond pudding! Forgot to take pictures but will be returning to eat with friends very soon so will post some pictures after that visit. Thoroughly recommend.

Festive menus that cater for all dietary requirements and children. Can’t recommend enough. Both log fires were blazing and it is just lovely to see the building cared for again. Under new management - amazing food and team This pub has been under new management for just over a week. The food is fresh and exceptional quality, the presentation fantastic and the Sunday roast in particular is a show stopper. You can see the chefs are clearly passionate - no microwaved pies like you may find elsewhere. All freshly made. An absolute gem.

The best roast beef I've ever had. We went as a family (including a 6 and 3 year old). Everyone had a great time. Plenty of choice for gluten free and vegetarians alike. There's also a very good children's menu.

Went a few months ago, Not the same place it was years ago. Shame really too many landlord's, maybe the brewery is to blame?

We had previously booked a table for 8 people a few weeks before we went. Although the kitchen was closed for a private party they stood by our booking gave us a private room to dine in and cooked us 8 fantastic meals . Meals cooked to order so a little wait but well worth it. Even though they were very busy we were well looked after . We would definitely recommend this pub. Thank you for a lovely evening

This place was fantastic. We had a family meal there and the food was good home cooked fare with chips just like my mother used to make. The service was so good with 2 people taking orders at one point. We are going to go back next time we have a family party. It is an underused commodity which I hope doesn't get to busy selfishly. Five Stars.

Just popped in for a pint and to see if they have food tomorrow or are serving it this week. Got the pint; Bass. No food until Friday. Atmosphere? Dying. All I can hear is two or three people further down the pub effing away. Not surprised there's so few in here. The pint? That was okay.

Quiet on the day we visited. Went in for some light bites a tad late in the afternoon and the owner made up a some mixed sandwiches with some fries. Superp.

Do not expect quality food! We waited over an hour for poor undercooked food. Only one other couple waiting for food so no excuse. Expensive and an experience not to be repeated.

Nice country pub , good selection of beers , wines, & spirits. Friendly barstaff. Did'nt have any food but it looked a good selection . Outdoor beer garden, would certainly go there again.recomended to all.Very enjoyable.😁

Booked a table by phone some weeks earlier and travelled a considerable distance only to find it was not open. No note on door or reply to phone call. It still had a chalk board on the pavement outside advertising "open for food". March 2023.

Popped in this afternoon after a canal walk. A funeral group were already there which was sad. The barman was quite rude and insisted on charging extra to top up the diet coke for my wife's drink. Absolutely disgusting service and rudeness, do no use this pub they don't deserve the trade. Extortion pricing.

The staff were so helpful, they were understaff and unprepared for our party of 20 ( which was booked 4 weeks in advance), but they pulled out all the stops to make our night amazing. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was homely and very friendly as everyone on the pub sang happy birthday to my husband. Thank you to the lovely staff, Harry, Bradley, the new guy and the amazing chef.

We booked for Sunday dinner after having an excellent one in April. The menu was basic & no prices on which was strange. The food arrived, it was swimming in gravy, the broccoli looked like it had been on since the morning the red cabbage...

Was served a pint of sour beer. Oddly, the barman had tasted it that morning and found it sour too, but didn't take it off sale??? Strange to use customers as quality control. Put us off going back, tbh.
