Lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The quality of the food was excellent. The serving staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble.

Just had lunch. Really good food and friendly staff. Had fish which was perfectly cooked. Need to get a good vegetarian/vegan option on the menu though. Definitely going to return.

New ownership and was visiting a mate and sis who live locally. Food was delicious, great options for vegetarians too and amazing desserts. An excellent menu and will definitely visit again. Great service and friendly advice on the local beers too.

What a lovely place to eat and to relax! We had only dessert, but hey, their rhubarb and apple crumble, which actually was gluten free, was delicious. So next time we will be there for a proper meal. Also, it is family friendly and lovely atmosphere, so definitely would visit again.

We booked for a large family lunch (19 of us) to celebrate a Christmas birthday. The food, team, atmosphere were all great. Very interesting menu with plenty of choice for kids (high quality, home made food - definitely not your average low quality high fat carb…) and great choices for GF /Veg. Well done Grafton and team on creating something special. Really looking forward to coming back for a Sunday lunch.

Grafton and the new team at the Crown are amazing! The service is excellent and the food is show-stoppingly good. The sea bass is the best I’ve had. I can’t recommend it enough and I’ll be back very soon!

Under new ownership and what a fantastic evening at The Crown. Grafton and his team delivered a beautiful meal tonight. It’s so good to see the pub flourishing and full of happy customers. Festive menus that cater for all dietary requirements and children. Can’t recommend enough. Both log fires were blazing and it is just lovely to see the building cared for again. Would definitely recommend.

I visited The Crown with my wife and two young children last Sunday. My wife and I had a roast (beef and chicken) and we got snacks for the children - there were some great choices for young children. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere was the best it has been for a long time. The team were friendly and efficient, and the food was tasty. Thank you to the new owners, we look forward to coming back and supporting our local pub.

The best roast beef I've ever had. We went as a family (including a 6 and 3 year old). Everyone had a great time. Plenty of choice for gluten free and vegetarians alike. There's also a very good children's menu.

Under new management - amazing food and team This pub has been under new management for just over a week. The food is fresh and exceptional quality, the presentation fantastic and the Sunday roast in particular is a show stopper. You can see the chefs are clearly passionate - no microwaved pies like you may find elsewhere. All freshly made. An absolute gem.

Went a few months ago, Not the same place it was years ago. Shame really too many landlord's, maybe the brewery is to blame?

Disaster no manager only two tonic left for four of us We had to leave desperate in need to manage better. Supervisor only trying his best under circumstances

We had previously booked a table for 8 people a few weeks before we went. Although the kitchen was closed for a private party they stood by our booking gave us a private room to dine in and cooked us 8 fantastic meals . Meals cooked to order so a little wait but well worth it. Even though they were very busy we were well looked after . We would definitely recommend this pub. Thank you for a lovely evening

This place was fantastic. We had a family meal there and the food was good home cooked fare with chips just like my mother used to make. The service was so good with 2 people taking orders at one point. We are going to go back next time we have a family party. It is an underused commodity which I hope doesn't get to busy selfishly. Five Stars.

Just popped in for a pint and to see if they have food tomorrow or are serving it this week. Got the pint; Bass. No food until Friday. Atmosphere? Dying. All I can hear is two or three people further down the pub effing away. Not surprised there's so few in here. The pint? That was okay.

Quiet on the day we visited. Went in for some light bites a tad late in the afternoon and the owner made up a some mixed sandwiches with some fries. Superp.

Nice country pub , good selection of beers , wines, & spirits. Friendly barstaff. Did'nt have any food but it looked a good selection . Outdoor beer garden, would certainly go there again.recomended to all.Very enjoyable.😁

Booked a table by phone some weeks earlier and travelled a considerable distance only to find it was not open. No note on door or reply to phone call. It still had a chalk board on the pavement outside advertising "open for food". March 2023.

Excellent service and food all round

Popped in this afternoon after a canal walk. A funeral group were already there which was sad. The barman was quite rude and insisted on charging extra to top up the diet coke for my wife's drink. Absolutely disgusting service and rudeness, do no use this pub they don't deserve the trade. Extortion pricing.

This place is a joke. The new manager is also the chief. I went there for Sunday lunch last month and the previous manager was super stressed and said there would be a wait. 1 hour 15 later we were served....by the waitress who told us she had to cook it because the chief had walked out mid service This is the same chief who is now manager. Which we only found out last night. We popped In around 5 to ask if they were serving food. As I kept calling and kept getting knocked off the call, figuring it was super busy because of this. It wasn't busy at all. The chief was sitting at the ba drinking, when we asked the chap behind the bar if they were serving food. Chef said until 7.30. We came back at 7. Nice chap again behind bar went into the kitchen......no chef......went to find him, he was sitting the other end of the pub drinking a pint and said Nope food had finished. He saw us and didn't look up. Poor chap behind bar was embarrassed. The chef who is the manager is going to run the pub into the ground because he is basically he is lazy and can't be bothered to do his job. Last Sept whoever was the chef did a great burger and was never disappointed. Such a shame its a great venue and beer garden. So back to the George & dragon as bar staff are consistently lovely and food is consistently good. The King William does a fab Sunday roast. Wish the George would do one!!

The staff were so helpful, they were understaff and unprepared for our party of 20 ( which was booked 4 weeks in advance), but they pulled out all the stops to make our night amazing. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was homely and very friendly as everyone on the pub sang happy birthday to my husband. Thank you to the lovely staff, Harry, Bradley, the new guy and the amazing chef.

Was served a pint of sour beer. Oddly, the barman had tasted it that morning and found it sour too, but didn't take it off sale??? Strange to use customers as quality control. Put us off going back, tbh.

Service by Amelie was excellent. We were offered iced water with the meal, and I was offered a choice of garden or mushy peas with my fish & chips. Very good value for money and a lovely location.

Lovely food. Only criticism would be the small amount of meat served with the Sunday dinner. Overall very good though, will be returning

The worst pub meal I have ever had. The chicken was cooked in a microwave and my knife could not cut into the meat. The cook is a disgrace and should be sacked. Waitress service very pleasant.

Arrived at 6:45pm, bought drinks and told to order food at the bar. 10 minutes later bar staff came out to garden to say it would be a 45 min wait for food, we said OK and that we'd order straight away. Back he returned 2 minutes later saying actually they'd just had a table of 8 sit and couldn't serve us food! - an hour before their food service closing time of 8pm! Beware!

I had mixed grill which was badly cooked Meat was skinny and fatty Egg burnt Chips were hard Wife had cod and chips the fish was soggy and greasy her chips were also hard

Sunday carvery. I asked for two child/small portions as my wife and I are small eaters. Anyone would of thought I was robbing a bank given the reaction I got. They eventually capitulated. I wish they had stuck to their guns though as the carvery was very poor with dry meat and a Yorkshire pudding you couldn’t cut with a knife. Seriously! I normally don’t review but just vote with my feet. They made me do it. Appalling attitude and service. Shame on you !

Very nice stuff we asked if they do lunch between 2 & 5 pm … they do (incl set menues). Traditional English Food and nice Ales. Good conversation with the locals ..

Just had a fantastic meal at the Crown, the mixed grill was the best I've ever had, coupled with delicious wine. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the experience helped make our 20th wedding anniversary that much more special. We will definitely return soon!

Nice pub this in the centre of Alrewas. Good beer and food. Friendly staff. We had fish and chips and battered halloumi and chips. Both very good but could have been improved by mushy peas instead of garden peas ! Picky I know😉

Seem totally disinterested. Website and Facebook out of date not reflecting current opening times. Odd hours, not doing food midweek. Totally disinterested that phone apparently not working or in customer care. Presumably about to go out of business- no surprise with that attitude

It was disappointing, no lasagne, or steak available, despite them advertising steak from Coates the Butcher which is 100 yards away. Turkey meal was nice, but reheated roasties, Yorkshire puddings from the local Co-op, and mushie vegetables made for a very average meal out. Nothing gastro here, standard pub grub at best.

Very disappointed- we went there for lunch and the 3 of us had sandwiches. They were made from cheap standard sliced bread- I opted for brown, on one of the last mouthfuls I realised that the crusts were mouldy. Not the best experience at all, told the young barman who apologised but nothing more was said or done about it. Won’t be going back ☹️

Had a relaxing Sunday lunch and drinks at this delightful village pub yesterday with my partner and her children. We sat at one of the many picnic benches in the attractive beer garden, shaded by a parasol from the afternoon sun. There were a few other families sitting outside and others inside, suggesting it's a popular pub for those with young ones. There's plenty of space for kids to run around outside, and trees for them to climb. The three members of bar staff I spoke to were friendly and had smiles on their faces, which was refreshing. The toilets were spotlessly clean, and despite the fairly large number of people at the pub, there were plenty of free tables. There was a large and varied amount of drinks available (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and there was a chef in the kitchen who served us some tasty fries. We will definitely return soon!

The almost ideal local pub. Good beer with an excellent range of food, at the sort of prices you’d expect for the area. Perfectly located with a southern aspect which makes for great Summer afternoons and evenings. Drops a star on my points system as the parking has been farmed out with the result that ignorant drivers are ‘parking’ their cars on the surrounding pavements.

A speck of the moment visit to Arlewas in memory of a beloved friend and chose the Crown to have a drink in lovely old pub with very friendly obliging staff didnt fancy anything on the days menu it was Saturday 20thSept 20/20 but will definitely visit again and hope to try the food and another great thing is its dog friendly which delighted us as we often take our little one with us
