Lunch was great, all staff were friendly and attentive. Score a bit lower on atmosphere purely as internally the place is really tired, but is in process of refurb we understand so when all done we're hoping it will be great. One thing's for sure if going in summer and eating outside the views are stunning. Will definitely go again

Been going to this lovely pub for 30 years +. What can I say, cod and chips gone from the menu and the cottage pie was to die for. Got there for 6pm and normally it would be packed, however there were only 3 tables being used. I was gutted the above was missing from the menu so ordered the lasagne……. The lasagne just tasted of tomato and could not eat the garlic bread as it was harder than the plate it was served on. I bought it to the attention of the waiter and he just smiled and asked me 3 times if I wanted another one. I heard the table next to me say their food was cold. It’s a real shame, it’s where we would always go for family get togethers but the food is not far off weatherspoons standard. May sound harsh but unfortunately true. Time to look for another local pub to eat

We visited this restaurant this afternoon as a family. We were disgusted with the food served. £21.95 for a 10oz rib eye steak which was served on a child’s plate with 12 chips & a small bit of salad& also 2 greasy onion rings. How that kind of money this is disgusting. Asked for a medium/well done 16oz rump steak which came out with blood dripping from it, that is not medium/well. Someone in the party had mashed potato which wasn’t even fresh it was cold & tasted like it was a powdery packet mix. This has completely ruined our Sunday afternoon out, we will NOT be visiting again. The prices are extortionate for disgusting food ….

Asking what i woukd recommend below , well we all got different food and only ONE dish out of 7 were edible ..

Met a friend here for lunch. We both had the Caesar Salad which I forgot to take a picture of, and we shared a side of chips. The salad was delicious, the dressing, the combination of the perfectly cooked chicken and the slightly salty crispy bacon was a delight. The croutons were fantastic too, big, chunky and not at all greasy. The chips were also really really good. Now I was actually full after the salad so it's a good job that I have a pudding tummy too for the sticky toffee pudding, pictured. Delightful. I recommend booking as I think you would be sad to not get a table. I will be DEFINITELY be bringing my family here on many many occasions. Traditional pub feeling. Plenty of car parking, seating outside. Great family atmosphere. Oh and reasonably priced. Wonderfully friendly and professional staff who made you feel welcome and like you had known them forever in an instant. Genuinely zero negatives from me other than wanting to try the whole menu.

We have been using the pub for several years and have noticed a change for the worse since Red Cat took over. We always enjoyed the Ploughman's lunch but this was taken off the menu after the take over The staff are excellent and friendly as is the licencee and service is good However we have noticed a change in the food as the portion size and quantity seems to have dropped off A few weeks ago I made comment to a staff member regarding the very small amount of cheese in my baguette and the small portion of chips accompanying it We visited again on 28 April and noticed the menu had changed and were disappointed to find out that sandwiches are not available on Sundays We really wanted sandwiches but I opted for the steak pie instead. The pie was not a full pie but a dish of meat with a puff pastry top. There was plenty of meat which was tender and the gravy was tasty. The menu stated it was served with roasted cartots and seasonal greens which turned out to be 2 little carrots and a very small cabbage leaf! It was also served with a very small portion of chips which were undercooked and certainly not the "chunky chips" advertised on the menu We did not get chance to mention this to staff as no one visited our table after our food was served and there was a large number of people arriving filling the bar which occupied the attention of the staff We will continue to use the pub for drinks as we really enjoy visiting but will not be ordering food for the foreseeable future

The puddings were good too, apple crumble was okay but apples a bit sour for my moms taste. I had the trillionaires tart which was nice, my son had the brownie which was very rich. Visited for a Saturday lunchtime family meal based on a friend's recommendation as we had not been before. What a gem of a find! We all decided on steak and Guinness pie with chips and peas, although one of our party preferred other veg which the kitchen was happy to provide instead. We didn't wait too long for the meal to arrive and it was hot and fresh. I do like a good tasty steak pie and this was definitely a 10 out of 10! We all agreed that the steak was well braised and tender and certainly hadn't been scrimped on! The gravy in the pie was thick and tasty, with the puff pastry top not collapsing horribly into the pie, just sitting nicely that could be cut into. The chips were fluffy and tasty. To follow was apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding with custard. Absolutely delicious! Excellent selection of real ale and cider. We all left feeling full and extremely satisfied. Thank you for a fabulous lunch, we will be seeing you again!!

Disappointed! Have visited many times but never had a carvery here. I’ve had Sunday lunch here over the years but the carvery is a fairly new thing. The carvery was ok but I was expecting it to be lovely as the other meals always are. Bad points: Roasties were anaemic, didn’t look like roasties & tasted bland. Yorkies we’re big but there was no substance to them. To puffy if you know what I mean. Good points: Meat was lovely & plenty was given. Gravy & veg was ok. Staff are lovely and helpful. Just didn’t think the carvery lived up to the rest of the menu and the quality usually found here.

We've been visiting Ye Olde Windmill Inn on and off for the past 40 years the early years just a regular stop on pub crawls of the local hostelries, for the past 30 years for dining. Dennis keeps a fine cellar and the beers and ales etc are tip top. As for the food the Windmill has always provided straight forward good sized portions of "home cooked" meals. I don't think that the menu is quite as adventurous these days as it once was? The Specials boards have seen some very interesting and unusual twists on traditional pub grub in the past and the old "supersized" mixed grill was a thing of wonder (it was a wonder if you managed to completely finish one). These days you have a selection of pretty much typical pub grub, still maintaining its quality and quantity, with locally sourced ingredients, freshly cooked and served with a smile. Mein host Mr Duckhouse, maintains a convivial atmosphere and a friendly welcome, in the lounge, if you're going for a drink hit the bar the local clientele are very friendly and like to indulge in the old craic with any new faces. There is an upstairs restaurant / function room which is opened at the busiest times should the lounge be fully booked and during bank holidays and Christmas. There are plenty of tables with umbrellas to the front of the pub for summer use To me Ye Olde Windmill is like those very comfortable well worn old shoes that you might forget about for a while but when you find them again and put them on you realise what you've been missing.

We found this pub surprising busy for a Monday lunchtime, mainly frequented by diners of an older generation. There was a good range of about four ales on the bar. The menu features mainly pub standards but there is also a specials board and it was from this that we selected the Pork Belly - a 'go to' favourite of ours, and it was quite reasonably priced at £12.95. It was served with mashed potatoes and peas - now surely the chef could come up with more interesting accompaniments than this. As for the meat, the centrepiece of any good pork belly is a crispy skin - and the skin on this was certainly not crispy; indeed not eatable. The pork was okay but not the tenderest ever. Personally I would prefer to have paid a bit more for something more appealing. Service was quite efficient but a smile or two from the staff wouldn't go amiss. Overall opinion of this pub? Well, being so busy on a Monday lunchtime must say something, but personally I found the place very average.

Awful, both me and my mom have been bed bound since eating from here. Will never come here again.
