The food I ordered came out cold and the potatoes were still frozen in the middle. It was taken back and replaced when it came back out it was piping hot and lovely. We were given a free drink for the inconvenience but by the time I was eating my husband had already finished his meal.

Arrival to be told our table was not ready so we was left standing at the bar for 20 mins even tho there was empty tables everywhere. We ordered drink while we waited to be served them in dirty glasses with mold on the oranges, Once seated our cutlery came out within minutes but no food for 65mins. while people walked in and was seated and eaten. when we asked about it we had a very strange waiter make no sense at all and start to speak about rock music and give us the rock on sign, i have no idea what that was all about. When the food arrived it was not the highest of standards and the whole order was wrong, chips was cold items missing of the order, wrong items, when i spoke to a member of staff, he was very rude, than to have another member coming up to my face shout what's wrong with the food I did the order myself just eat,,, no customer service at all infect I say they need retraining, will never step foot in the place again, and I can tell you I did not eat that horrible food, we left,,, poor is a understatement

Tom is a breath of fresh air. Much more than a server. He is a teacher in the most fundamental sense. If you want to meet a human being that is second to non, come to the Bowling Green and ask for Tom. Also, the food is great.

Our family comes from all four corners of England and we meet as often as we can. We booked a table for 15 of us they accommodated and the meal was delicious. The staff was so friendly and patient with us that we said if we were in the midlands again we would go there again we highly recommend it to anyone. Always remember to book up in advance if your party is as big as ours was because it is a popular place.

Fantastic friendly staff . Lovely atmosphere . Food absolutely delicious complents to the chefs . Management went out of his way to change my meal when I asked if I could have something left off my meal as I didn't like it and he asked me if I wanted something else in its place . We have now enquired about booking the function room for our wedding renewal and will be booking it next yr . We will definitely be returning again and recommending the bowling green to everyone Thank you so much for a lovely evening

Not impressed at all. Bar service was slow and we were flatly ignored until another customer pointed that we were next ! Limited food menu with a few key items unavailable and on top of that the waitress seemed uninterested and unaware of the menu details such as fresh or frozen vegetables/type of dressing for salad/never asked if anyone had allergies etc. Poorly trained and severe apathy. Food was bland, Luke warm and as we'd waited so long we couldn't even get anyone's attention if we did decide to express dissatisfaction. All in all, not an experience we would want to repeat. You should do much better !

A very poor experience. Place was very quiet for a Friday evening. I soon found out why. Upgraded to sirloin from the rump on a surf and turf. Almost inedible. It was fatty and chewy. My wife had the classic burger and her meal was just a bad. Staff knocked a measly £5 of my meal. A lovely looking pub from the outside and decorated nicely inside. Staff were friendly enough but hard others complaining about the food also. Doubt very much I'd ever return.

Lovely old English pub/restaurant. First time visiting for brunch with a friend and we enjoyed the experience.

Echo what others have said about the beer; despite 5 handpumps only one was available. Food adequate, not quite as hot as it should have been and portions of chips and peas were a bit on the small side but, to be fair, they did provide more when asked.

Family dinner for 7. Food was very good, everyone had something different and all were pleased with their meal. It was excellent value for money with drinks for all and all under £20 a head. The pub wasn't crowded on a Monday and the staff were helpful in sorting out a comfortable chair for a person with a bad back. Thank you

the food seemed like it was cooked to quickly, for instance the potato rosti was cooked on the outside but still cold in the middle, same with the chips cooked on the outside still hard in the middle. Quality of peas were very poor, peas needed boiling more they were very hard and not enjoyable.

My favourite pub in Lichfield. The atmosphere is always great, service is always great. James is a credit to M&B and knows how to run a pub. He’s always present in the pub and is so well known and has a great rapport with all customers. He’s always smiling and ready to great new customers and not scared to get his hands dirty! We are regulars here and will always return ❤️

Came here for a meeting and lunch and the food was unbelievably good all of our party enjoyed and we had lovely service Sara who was very accommodating all day and never stopped smiling. We will be here again hopefully for a more informal meeting because the beer looked excellent!!!

Called into the Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon for refreshment whilst out on the motorcycle. We also ordered some nibbles from the main menu, I was served by Tracy at the bar who was extremely pleasant and helpful. and then sat outside and the food came out shortly after by Jayden who was very efficient and polite. We will make sure we come back again.

Had a Sunday dinner with pudding was very nice especially the orange sponge pudding staff very helpful and polite will visit again when next in Lichfield

Just had the Ultimate Burger. Best burger I have had in quite a while. Tasty ingredients/toppings in just the right proportions. Would highly reccomend.

On arrival we were taken to our table, we were not told there was an hour wait on food or alot of the staple items were not available. We ordered on the app which was fine until we clicked pay, only to then be told no mixed grill, then upon investigation no steak, fish or chicken either. We picked another main meal but mixed grill was still showing as available. Our cutlery came out within minutes but no food for 55mins. Had we of known about the delay and lack of items we wouldn't have ordered. When the food arrived it was not the highest of standards but we were hungry and the queue at the bar was huge

I have been here twice in last two weeks and on both occasions there was only one draught beer available, with various signs on the other pulls saying 'pipes being cleaned' and' beer settling'. For such a large pub this is really poor. I went to a nearby local that has six draught ales to choose from- come on guys not everyone drinks larger !

Over the last 18months or so, me and a mate have been going to the Bowling Green every few weeks for a lunch-time beer and a bite to eat. The dishes are always good value, well cooked and presented - A special mention for Emma, a member of the front of house staff, for her friendly and professsional service. Recommended

Can only give an ok rating from my latest visit. 4 out of the 5 cask ale pumps were off for line cleaning. Then the 1 ale that was on went (cloudy/end of barrel). Service was fine and friendly, only a short wait time. Not tried the food here, but most tables were full on Saturday afternoon, so food must be popular.

Took my mom and dad for a meal out . Waited over an hour for the food and when it came it was cold . Wouldn't recommend going for a meal.

This chain pub has improved somewhat. It has a much more comprehensive menu recognising vegan and vegetarian needs and extending their broader offer. Staff appear more thoughtful, helpful, and motivated. Recently, though, like so many restaurants, prices have risen somewhat, and portion sizes have decreased.

Everything was good regarding the food and drink as usual. The only minor irritation is the need to register for parking which is getting more common these days.

Wife is partially sighted asked for large print menu to help see what was on the menu, was told thats the only sise we have, so much for catering for the disabled, ordered a mixed grill chips were like they had been cooked hours before and then added to the meal, 4oz stake I was unable to slice through even after trying 6 times sent it back they were good enough to bring a second one but had finished my meal by then, not much improvement just glad I didn't pay an extra £4.50 for a 8oz,will be a long time before another visit.

As they asleep you are asleep were not busy took neatly 45 min for food and it was cold and poor quality. The ladies toilets were filthy the worst I’ve seen in a long time paint peeling off walls and dirty floor . A heath hazard.

A great date night. Tom served us drinks and was a delight for us both making us feel settled in. Food was delicious. Will definitely be back!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch yesterday with family Food was great most of us had the Sunday lunch which I have to say was fabulous considering there were 12 of us our Dinners all came out together and were hot endless gravey which was great Jayden our waiter was very friendly and did a fantastic job with serving us all well done Jayden Also it was nice to see the manager serving not only behind the bar but also bringing food out Bar staff were all friendly too A great afternoon for us we shall definitely return Keep up the good work Great Pub

Incredibly slow service for 2 people so absolutely AVOID if your only 2 people it took over an hour for sausage and mash and a mixed grill and loads of other groups of people of over 4 come in and get their food 10-15 minutes after ordering so if your only a group of 2 people then do not go here.

The staff of this pub make the difference, they are well recruited and trained; there is staff friendliness coupled with good service, Overall creating an atmosphere to make customers want to return. Best pub staff in the area by far.

I ordered a table online for five people to eat, and I requested that we have the table for longer than the two hour time slot due to use wanting to stay and drink, which the staff kindly agreed to. We ended up staying for over four hours. Thanks! The only minor downsides to the evening were that 1) none of us were able to access the free WiFi because there was an issue with the sign-up page, and 2) the sharing chicken nachos only came with six small pieces of chicken, which were fewer than we would have liked, especially considering the price. All round, though, a largely positive experience, and we will visit again.

Great location. James and Jordan were very helpful and assisted with nibbles for a very pleasant evening with friends celebrating an occasion. They were able to reserve a seated area which suited my requirement for a group of friends. Thanks to all staff👍😊

Pub is desperate for a refurb & more staff. Food came out over cooked or left under a heater & I friend had a refund cos sent it back.

Don’t go here if you like real ale. Lovely sunny Sunday afternoon for a cask ale. Purity was not available due to cleaning the pipes (on a Sunday???). Landlord was okay but thought I would try a Pedigree but it was end of barrel so I had to take it back & have another Landlord which again was okay. Landlord is a superb drink when kept well. This is a pub not for cask ale!!! Long wait at the bar, won’t bother again.

Nice pub, calm environment, friendly staff but the food portions are too small. We all had to eat again later than evening. Food was warm enough but not hot. Disappointing really. Desert portions were also tiny - little squares with a very small scoop of ice cream. We eat out a lot and I'd say the portions are a third smaller than the average restaurant.

We didn't eat here so can't put a star rating for that but the meals they were serving looked good. This place is dog friendly

We enjoyed the 'Curry night catch up on Fridays after 5pm'. We recommend the starters... Poppadoms. Our recommended main course is Chicken Tikka. We didn't try the desserts. It was a lovely, warm evening, and it seemed like a popular venue, lots of people seated outside as well as people dining in. I would visit this venue again.

I've been here a few times. It's in the middle of a roundabout, it has a big car park, you put your number plate on a screen to park, so you don't get a ticket. You can pay and display if you are not going to the pub. Not sure what has changed whether it is the owners/chef, or both. The last time I had food there I left most of it on the plate. The chips didn't look freshly cooked and they tasted like cardboard. The menu has changed and looks a lot better. I was just going to order a sandwich not fries/chips or salad. Then a saw a plate come out of the kitchen and the fries looked nice. My friend and I both ordered the same. The chargrilled chicken and bacon wrap without avocado 🥑. I had fried and my friend had the salad. Ftom the photo you can see it looked edible. It tasted nice and was freshly made. Given four stars for the good food and service which was very quick. Didn't do a review before because frankly given the state of food before this visit it wasn't worthy of one star.

Came across Bowling green on our way somewhere and decided to pop in on way back. Pleasantly suprised. Decent size in and out and nice decor. Food was really nice and hot. Only down side we waited what seemed like eternity for our pudding and they wasn't really busy. However this will not stop us from going back. The staff were very polite and friendly. Will definitely be going back on a sunnier day.

Well what can I say about our visit. We came here after it being recommended by a friend. As soon as we walked in we felt as though we were important and not just another customer. We ordered an ultimate burger and a ribeye. Food was delicious. We then took our drinks and sat by the open fire to just carry on enjoying our evening. We met a young fella named James, he was such a lovely guy to chat to. And had absolutely amazing customer service. We will definitely be returning Hats off to you James. Keep doing what you do.

Huge place, huge car park, only 1 guy serving so took time but good drink selection, menu was very reasonable, we will eat next time, on island, very easy to access in a car.
