Expensive pub prices for very basic freezer food. No atmosphere. No steaks available they had run out. Wouldn’t recommend. Customer service not the best. Menu was covered in food and sticky.

Not the best if I'm honest ! Rump steak was tough for all 4 of us ! Myself & my daughter had the rump steak ,chips, onion rings & peas . Not worth the money at all, Gave the dog most of my steak ! Peas were hard . Hubby and son in law had mixed grill, again steak was tough and such a small peice, sausages were overcooked and dry! Hubbys fried egg was over cooked Chicken & Chips were ok , but certainly not worth over £16 ! No one bothered to do a check back , had they have done I would've said something . Shall not be visiting again unfortunately!

Stayed one night in Room 1 as visiting friends in Lichfield. The village is lovely and the pub is fab. Landlord and staff so friendly. £55 for a room. Comfy bed, slept like a baby. Yes there is a shared bathroom but you know that when you book up so I don’t understand other reviewers commenting on that. Plus £8 pp for a full English breakfast, which was very tasty. Great place. Will return when visiting the area again. Top pub.

Pub and food were good enough. But our bedroom, which we stayed in for 3 nights, unfortunately not up to standard.... Carpet, not hoovered! Full of dog hair, and other matter, as was rattan couch, full of dog hair. Massively needs updating! The bed was OK, and clean sheets. But they need to hire in cleaners. Also bathroom....shower needed cleaning, I counted 5 spiders in the shower alone.....and as you are sat on toilet, you will notice very dirty skirting boards and radiator dirty....and the fact that you have to share this bathroom...it should be cleaned regularly !!!! Why don't thy know that...for 2 of those days, there was a bit of smeared poo on the floor, which I refuse to clean up ! NEEDS ALOT OF ATTENTION!!!!

Nice place, and friendly staff. No decent wine, only bad quality Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay, which went out in the 90s. No steak last time, and no tartar sauce for fish n chips. Went back a few days ago, and food was better. Nice wine available too 😁 Went back again, and had uncooked tough steak, which is supposed to be dry aged, but was cheapest tough old meat ever.

Service & food were excellent, especially on a lovely-weather Saturday evening. Had 2 meals, dessert, and a couple of drinks each & everything came out perfectly (cooked as ordered, condiments and sides and such) and the chocolate cake & Rocky Road Sundae were wonderful before our walk back to the canal. Highly recommend! *Edit to add - it was so good, we stopped again on our way back up the canal, and once again, absolutely perfect! We couldn’t have felt more welcome and at ease, even tho we are clearly not local with our Kentucky, US accents. We ate several good meals around Alrewas but if we had to choose just one place to eat every time we’re in the area, this will be it.*

Extremely disappointed with the food. You would think that ingredients for a simple plate of Natchos would be easy to source. Nope. Sour cream ‘style’ sauce!! Cheese sauce (what’s wrong with real cheese?). It was really cheap tasteless rubbish. We didn’t even get any guacamole which was on the menu (probably awful too). We did mention the key missing ingredient but no offer to put things right; though an apology was given. We won’t be returning.

We booked three night’s accommodation and two family meals arriving 1 December travelling from Cornwall. On the way to the room we where told it was A shared bathroom and shower for the three rooms this came as a total surprise , which obviously showed as the young lady said it is on the booking site. They refunded our money in full with no complaint. I checked the booking page when filling in the booking page there is a section giving the rooms facilities it had no mention of having or not having an on-suite But when you click to confirm you then enter another page which has a title room facilities you click to open and this does mention that it is shared bathroom! I did not click when booking. This is now 8pm and we had to find new accommodation. We did not cancel our two dinner reservations Table for six and next day a table for four. When our table of six met on the 2nd December we where surprised at the normal bar menu as we believed from their webpage it was festive fair when asked they said we have to book festive fair two weeks ahead!!! My booking was at least six weeks ahead but was never told this when booking on the phone (the only way no online booking service) so it turned out to be a pretty bland affair. We left the venue undecided whether to return for our family of four as we where told they don’t offer Sunday lunch. There is no email service to the pub so I hope they read this as we won’t be eating at the George and Dragon on Sunday 3rd. Make your own conclusions to what you think has taken place but we thought things could be so better.

Popped in for quick lunch with family and friends. Let’s get the positives out of the way first: only two of our party wanted a main meal. One chose fish and chips and the other had the gammon. Both were reasonably happy with their choices, although the gammon chooser was rather disappointed that the egg was way overdone and hard. Myself and my wife just wanted a snack, so picked the prawn cocktail: “Succulent prawns in a Marie Rose sauce. Served on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce, with cucumber and a lemon wedge. Served with multigrain bloomer bread & butter.” The bread was lovely! No lemon, no cucumber, no lettuce. Just a dish of prawns with enough sauce to nearly cover about maybe one and a half prawns. After eating a couple of prawns I noticed that most of them were still frozen, so I took them back to the bar. The guys were extremely apologetic. The replacements arrived and we were assured that they were different prawns, but it was still just a bowl of watery prawns with a droplet of sauce. Did we complain? Nah, couldn’t be arsed, but won’t go back. You have been warned.

I don’t normally write reviews about accommodation I stay at but… Stayed for a couple of nights as work had booked it. Shared bathroom for the 3 rooms was clean, however the shower was terrible. It appears that it should only be used on eco mode and heating cannot go above a certain level before cutting out with “low pressure warning”. Someone had marked this on the shower unit, so must be a known issue. No desk to work at in the rooms & wifi speeds are less than 3mbs download/0.45mbs upload, so unable to do any work in there. The room I stayed in was dated, did have black out curtains but also had an emergency light with green LED that made sleep near impossible. The pub looked nice enough, but TBH would not stay here again.

We had a nice meal - Cowboy burger and Gammon steak were good. But first we shared what we thought was going to be Nachos. Please avoid these. The pub should not try to serve these as Mexican Nachos. The only edible bit were the tortilla chips. Squeezy processed cheese squirted over the tortillas and watery salsa, sour ‘cream’ was still in the shape of the jar it came out of. The guacamole was adequate-ish. Yuck. Other than that a nice pub and a good pint. Tried to edit online other persons details but couldn’t so ignore other comments.

Arrived at the pub to spend the night there. Had booked in for dinner which was very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The steps to the accommodation are very steep so not for the disabled. The bed was comfortable but the pillows had seen better days and were very flat. Also, no one had been round the paintwork with a damp cloth in a long time as the dust was stuck to it and the room could do with an overhaul but value for money.

Booked through booking.com for a 2 night stay. We were shown to the room and my heart sank. It was dreary and dated and in desperate need of a good clean. We tried to find another hotel but all were full so had to stay for the first night. Thankfully we have managed to get a hotel for tonight so won't be returning. We are £110 down, which I know is not a huge amount but we at least expected a clean room. The mattress and mattress protector were filthy, the sofa in the room stained, the walls were wafer thin so we could hear everything the other guest was doing, the shared bathroom was filthy- faeces on the loo seat, filthy shower and in need of a good wipe down and vacuum. When the toilet is flushed, the sound is like an aircraft landing on the building, no hot water in sink in the room. Bizarrely, the heating came on at 3am despite the temp being 19 degrees. Couldn't open window until pub closed as smokers used area below room. We have stayed in.pubs before and have never had such a bad experience. I feel totally robbed. How they can charge to stay here is an insult. The only good point is free parking. We will not return. I have photos which will not load atm. I will try again later

When ordering our food at the bar, we asked for a Sunday roast, as had looked at menus on line, which stated that they served a Sunday roast, the lady said ‘ooh no we don’t do stuff like that’ I did suggest if that was the case then the web site should be updated accordingly. We chose other options from the menu, I was told quite rudely that I ordered 3 macaroni, no I ordered 2, if I wanted 3 that’s what I would have asked for. 2 of our drinks we ordered were soft drinks, when I asked if we could have ice in them, there was a huff as she had to go and get some as the ice bucket was empty. Our meals were fine. After which another of our party went to the bar to order another round of drinks, the same bar tender looked at her, ignored her and went on her mobile phone, then the male bar tender came along and served a group of locals who had come to the bar after, so we left. I have worked in the pub trade for many years, and bad customer service grinds me to the bone, if you have lack customer service skills, then find a job in another sector. I also understand that people have off days, but still no need to be rude. Such a shame that one person can let a team down so much!

When I passed through Alrewas - about eight or nine years ago - and visited The George and Dragon for an evening meal which turned out to be the worst meal I had ever had - anywhere, and I have travelled the world quite extensively, it was nothing short of vile. On the odd occasion of passing through and noticing that it had changed hands but I had neither the interest or inclination to visit again - until last night. The first obvious thing to notice was the decor - very nice and the warm welcome of the staff as open and genuine. The meal ordered arrived very quickly and was piping hot and after consuming I was sated. I can only say on my return journey I will be visiting again and am really looking forward to it and would genuinely recommend this pub without reservation.

We booked to spend one evening here as wasn't disappointed with what was on offer. The room is basic but clean but well heat ...one thing that might spoil it is that you share the bathroom facilities but that wasn't a problem with us, Bar was was modern and looked like it had a recent refit. bare was full of different beers as a Marston pub wainwright on draught was a bonus for me.... the bus stop is outside the pub at £3.80 to Lichfield bus station by the way about £15 in a taxi back at night... breakfast in the morning is filling and fresh food and will set you up for the day... if i ever visit the area again i will stay at the George & Dragon

All meals were excellent pub grub (curry, mixed grill, sausage and mash, lasagne plus ultimate chicken burger). Beer was good (pedigree) and accommodated the 2 collies too. Lots of poor reviews but we had a great meal and super evening.

I don't write many reviews, but I just want to say what a great pub & friendly staff - we were there for a 25th birthday party on a very busy Saturday night with a superb live band - our children are all now grown up mid 20's but have various special needs. It was really nice to to see how they could just enjoy a good night out and also the friendliness vibe overall of other people in there. Thank you for a good night & it's a really impressive old building too with loads of character.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ALL ROUND We had a truly wonderful dining experience at The Bull in Shenstone (WS14 0JR). Visiting with my daughter Jo, grandson Arthur, and my son James, we enjoyed a memorable Sunday meal that exceeded all our expectations. The star of our visit was Amanda, our attentive waitress, whose warm and friendly approach made the evening even more special. Her attention to detail and welcoming smile added such a personal touch to our dining experience. The Sunday roast was simply superb—perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable, making us feel valued and well-cared for from start to finish. A huge thank you to the team at The Bull, Shenstone, for an outstanding experience. We look forward to returning soon and highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a great meal with excellent service!

Totally lacked atmosphere and warmth. There was no background music or even chatter. I could hear a couple in the kitchen discussing a member of staff which was poor and then I’m assuming the poor girl was having a review of her work to date in the cafe with customers all around. The coffee was mediocre and the sandwich was lacking in chicken. Really disappointed and wouldn’t return.

We have been here so many times and it is excellent every time. We were lucky enough to dine here twice this month as we had relatives here from Devon, followed by friends from New Zealand. Delicious home cooked food and plentiful portions as always. I can personally recommend the whitebait and prawn cocktail starters. If you like game - the pheasant is wonderful, as is the partridge. Fillet steak was amazing, I don’t think anyone could be disappointed whatever dish they choose!

Popped in for a quick lunch, to see the pub was closing for a refurbishment. How exciting. The team, although very busy in their preparations, were amazing. The manager Lily, was the light at the end of or tunnel.
