Having read the reviews and spoken to friends I went with good expectations. Sadly it seems that today 23rd March they must have had a bad day and as a result I wouldn't return back here. As someone who is neurodivergent it was sensory hell from the moment I walked in to when I walked out. The noise of the music playing was at the level of a nightclub. The amount of times that guests / staff walked into me made the experience more problematic. It would have been beneficial for the staff to have made me aware that they were behind me and passing food, or glasses onto the table. The table we were sat at was not something that a greasy spoon cafe would use rather than one that is meant to be of a good standard. As for the food, it wasn't to the standard of a roadside cafe. The roast potatoes had gone cold, the chicken felt like it was uncooked, it was that bad I just couldn't eat it. I didn't trust the staff to be able to fix it. Having looked at the other reviews today the staff must have had a bad day, I just hope that they don't have too many other bad days

We were staying at the hotel, so ate dinner as guests. Judging by the photos in the hotel's promotional literature, the restaurant has recently been refurbished / redecorated and, whilst the colours of the wall were warm, there was a complete absence of pictures or mirrors on the walls and a lack of soft furnishings which, combined with the wooden floors, make sounds echo and the room feel a little barren and cold. That said, the food was just stunning, imaginative combinations, artistically presented and just delicious and, as with all good quality food, satisfying and filling. It was just that the lack of atmosphere detracted from the experience, which was such a shame.

Went on Sunday 11th Feb, food ok, could have been hotter, would have told them, if anyone bothered to ask, service very poor, young team, no leadership, slow with drinks, took 3 attempts to deliver 1 coffee, brought over with no sugar, had to be asked for, no spoon had to be asked for. No goodbye

We visited the grove for Mother’s Day, 6 adults, 1 child. 3 x roast chicken, 2 x 8oz fillet steak, 1 children’s chicken nuggets +chips. My meal (steak) came out and looked great, although my stone wasn’t hot enough to cook my steak, onions and mushrooms, my steak although looked great, tasted horrible. £23 to only be satisfied with the chips! My wife also couldn’t eat the chicken and neither could my father Inlaw, only eating less that half there meals. I wouldn’t go back if I’d not Eaton for a month and was offered a free meal!

Warm welcome and friendly staff. When at table, the tablecloth was stained. Chair covers in need of a wash. We had pre ordered sandwich fillings, drinks and cakes. Not much choice for soft drinks (just 3). Tea and drinks came out but even though we had pre ordered, there was a very long wait for the food. When the food finally arrived the platters were doubled up and not individually served like other tables. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty but we had ordered all on brown bread. We received brown and white bread. Scones were nice but jam seemed a cheap brand. Mini desserts were mediocre. Wasn’t told what cheesecake of the day was. Had to ask after we had it. Victoria sponge was an oblong shape cut in half to make two pieces and buttercream too buttery. Lemon drizzle lacked lemon flavour but the chocolate fudge was delicious, sponge was fluffy.

Fantastic Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings, yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, cauliflower cheese, green beans, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, roast potatoes, real gravy and beef or turkey or pork or chicken - and we had such generous portions! We were welcomed with a big smile and shown to our table. Honestly, Paul and Diana and their wonderful friendly staff made our day. Thank you so much xxx

Last time we visited under different management the food was dreadful . We had heard good things and decided to try again . Firstly staff were pleasant and helpful . Beer was good . The meal came out in decent time. I had ordered steak and Stilton pie . It came out as a slice and was ok . The slice wasn’t big and wouldn’t have filled a hungry person up and the initial bits of meat were chewy but the pastry was lovely and the rest of the pie tasty . All of us had chips with our meals and they were the best chips I have eaten out in a while . All of us really enjoyed them. They were really hot and crispy. My husband had scampi and there was plenty of it and as a professional scampi eater 🤦🏼♀️ he had co complaints . We didn’t order pudding but were left to sit and chat and enjoy our drinks with staff clearing plates away promptly . All in all a good experience . Would have just liked the pie to have been slightly bigger and not a slice .
