I go with my friends here all the time!! The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff are very friendly, and it’s an all-round pleasant place to be. And of course, I must mention Bruno. He’s the goodest boy, always happy to see him there 🐶. 10/10, would recommend.

The kind of pie you think about afterwards and measure all others against. The chips were really, really good! Would definitely come back here if visiting again.

A group of eight of us arrived this evening hungry after a long day. Unfortunately we did not receive the food we were hoping for. After being handed the menu we were informed that there were two meals that were not available which was a little disappointing. Myself and another member of the group ordered chicken pasta carbonara which arrived bland and stone cold, not even lukewarm! To me this was a basic meal which should not be hard to deliver at decent standard, at £10 I at least expected it to be warm. The waitress continued to ask if we would like any sauce to go with our meals, but stated that they did not have ketchup. This is a basic sauce that should be available and if not I’m sure it could be purchased from a nearby shop? After numerous disappointing meals from our table, two of us decided to order a pudding in hope that it would be better than the mains. Sadly the ‘warm’ apple pie and chocolate fudge cake were both fridge cold. It’s safe to say that we will not be returning. Worst meal I have ever had!

Nice village pub, friendly landlord and landlady. Dizzying array of fine gins and good real ales. Home made food excellent, had a lovely roast with great choice of veg not the standard carrots and peas. Followed up with the best Bread and Butter Pudding I've had in years. You will have to wait for your food but so you should, no pinging microwaves here, fresh and hot when served. A very reasonable price I highly recommend the Lion for all the family.

I visited this pub tonight with my husband, daughter & her partner for a meal to celebrate my birthday, wish we hadn't bothered. We ordered our food about 6.40 &, despite asking after waiting an hour, when we could expect it, we waited until 8 pm for it to be served. We were told the reason for the delay was people arriving unexpectedly for food, not having booked. Even though, the place was not full, only us & 8 other adults in the dining room. 3 of us had steak, mushroom & ale pie which was an insipid looking plate of gristly, fatty, tough meat which hadn't been anywhere near any ale & didn't have any flavour at all, with a piece of pastry plonked on top of it & the chips were underdone. When our food arrived we were offered a free dessert because we had had to wait so long. When we complained, we were offered free meals, but couldn't face the wait for another possibly inedible meal. All we wanted to do was leave as quickly as we could & go home to get something tasty to eat. No way will we ever visit The Lion again, & if anyone tells us they are going there we would advise them not to

Have visited The Edgmond Lion many times for a meal. Each time we have sampled something different from the menu and we have been impressed every time. All the food is cooked freshly on the premises and on each visit the food has been served by a very pleasant member of staff and nothing is too much trouble for them. The pub itself is in a beautiful little village, has ample car parking, a beer garden, a smoking area and a children's play field. All of the play field is visible from the beer garden so the children can be seen at all times by their parents. Talking of beers, there is a wide selection of those also. Altogether an excellent place which I love to visit and would recommend to anyone. Well done to all concerned.

Had lots of good reviews from colleagues at work including someone who lives in Telford. Had a look on Saturday on the website, read reviews, and thought sounds good for Sunday Lunch. Drove out from Stoke, arrived and went in only to be told no food available due to a christening booking. Whilst I appreciate that regulars need to be looked after maybe one part of the room could be kept open for drop ins. Didn't see any notice on website about it being closed for Sunday lunch on the Saturday but perhaps I missed it.. However due to the reviews I have had, I will be making a return visit to eat, but will phone up and check if it is open next time.

Went to the The Edgmond Lion on the evening of Tuesday 14 November 2017 for the monthly meeting of the local Camra ( Campaign for Real Ale) group and the awarding of the branches 'Pub of the season's award. It must be over ten years since last visiting The Edgmond Lion as it is now called. It has been brightened up and feels bright and welcoming. We had our meeting in the lower dining room area which is approached from the bar by steps either side of the fireplace. I note that in another review it does say that the dining room can be approached via another door to avoid the steps - I did not spot this approach but I suspect it was from the main door at the rear and turn right - I did not spot any obvious signs for wheelchair users but I might have missed it.

Visited the Edgmond Lion today for lunch with our 2 teenagers. Nice greeting and drinks served quickly. Our order for food was taken after 10 minutes... but then a 50 minute wait for our food followed. Surely 3 burgers and a beef pie can’t take that long?! No apology offered or an update on the delay. The portion sizes were poor, a dozen chips per meal. Brioche burger buns were toasted so much that they were hard to eat, and the burger was of poor standard. Beef pie had sloppy pastry.

We visited the Edgmond Lion early one morning following a family get together. We had pre booked breakfast and were quickly shown shown to our table on arrival. The dining area is at a lower level to the entrance and there is about 5-6 steep steps to descend to get to the table. Not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. The staff were friendly and the food fresh. Just what we wanted! The overall impression is that this is a pub that is trying hard to be a success. The decoration is dated and overall the building is in need of a makeover. Will we return? Probably not as there a number of other pub restaurants in the area with improved facilities. It should be noted that this is a pub that has a small outdoor eating area overlooking open fields and has it's own car park.

We couldn't get in to our favourite restaurant and hadn't been to The Lion since it had changed hands BUT we definitely wont be going again. we went with friends so the company was as good as ever but can't say the same for the food..... it was awful. Two of us had the pasta dish it was so dry, all it was was some pasta with a bit of pesto and a few mushrooms we did ask for a bit more cheese hoping it might be easier to get down but we struggled with it being so dry and no sauce on it. The chips WELL you couldn't call then chips (they were described as 4 way cooked chips) which ended up being dried up crispy clumps of potatoes that didn't taste of anything. When the waitress came to ask if we were ok we said the pasta was very dry and the chips were terrible she said oh sorry.... Well The Lion has totally failed as far we are concerned and we won't be going there again.

I wouldn't go here again. The hosts seemed welcoming and we felt comfortable in the lovely country pub atmosphere. However our experience went down hill from here. The food was awful, they obviously need to have a word in the ear of the chef. The prices are outrageous, the portions were tiny. With these two negative factors you'd hope for some real effort and quality but not in the slightest. It seemed to me that the chef was either new or inexperienced. He mustn't know his clientele and needs to really up his game in terms of quality of products. It was poor at best. It lacked quality presentation and inspiration. We felt like leaving half way though. Note to self don't go back. Unless there is big kitchen changes. Johnny.

We visited the grove for Mother’s Day, 6 adults, 1 child. 3 x roast chicken, 2 x 8oz fillet steak, 1 children’s chicken nuggets +chips. My meal (steak) came out and looked great, although my stone wasn’t hot enough to cook my steak, onions and mushrooms, my steak although looked great, tasted horrible. £23 to only be satisfied with the chips! My wife also couldn’t eat the chicken and neither could my father Inlaw, only eating less that half there meals. I wouldn’t go back if I’d not Eaton for a month and was offered a free meal!
