The best restaurants serving British food in West Midlands

I've been here around six times now and every time it's been superb. I used to frequent the Dick Turpin a couple of miles away, but as the standards there have been slipping as of recent, I made the switch. Okay, the place is, (in my humble opinion), only slightly rougher and I mean no insult by that, the quality of food and service is excellent. There has only been a couple of issues with my orders, but these were very swiftly rectified. The staff are beyond superb! Cannot fault anyone of them - thank you. There is a decent sized car park, although this does fill quickly on busy nights! I very much look forward to having my birthday dinner here soon! PS: Note to the landlord - PLEASE put Titanic Plum Porter back on tap!

My daughter went here last night with a few friends. She turned 18 a few weeks ago and was one of the first opportunities to have a get together. All of them are 18. All of them have passed there driving test. So obviously the form of ID they all chose to use is a driving licence…. All were ID’ed when they got there. Fine. All were ID’ed when getting their first drink. Ok. Then they were refused a second drink as the girl who served them (Who was also rude) before, now ‘did not believe there driving licences were real’ and ‘how could they all have a driving licence’. So gutted for my daughter and her mates. Maybe they need to carry their Birth certificate, Passport and driving licence next time.

I’d like to highlight the wonderful service we had recently at The Rugby Hotel. I came for lunch with friends and the dining room was really nicely laid out and welcoming. Our lunch was tasty and well presented, and arrived at our table in good time. Liz (Mackay?) our waitress was particularly lovely and a real asset to your hotel. It’s not easy to find staff in hospitality but to have great people like Liz is a rare thing.

Went in the store today .. very fast efficient and very friendly staff ! Very clean , Tidy and organised ! Asked a lady about the Vegi rolls and brought one ! What. Great team in there ! Makes a lovely change ! Well done Kidsgrove Staff ! Will be calling in again very soon .

Such a shame about this place. A lovely location and cant fault the food however the service was not good at all!! The drinks came out after the food had arrived and they weren’t even correct, we re-told them what we ordered and they still didn't come correctly the second time round so two of us ended up with no drinks. One of us also ended up without food due to this order being incorrect as well… twice. One member of staff, possibly the manager, had no sympathy and didn't really seem bothered about the continuous mistakes. His customer service skills deffo need to be worked on however the rest of the staff were more helpful.

I go for breakfast every week but the last 2 weeks have been horrible the bacon is just rubbery and fatty the egg is burnt it's just not nice the drinks machine was cold and the cups are dirty the staff take ages to serve even though there's about 5 people behind the counter just not good

Awful. I can appreciate that they were busy but the service from start to finish was dire. Had a table booked. Sat us at a table that was only half set up. Asked staff to make up the rest. Ignored. Waited ages for a menu with staff just walking past us not giving a toss. O service of any kind. Had to repeatedly ask for a menu. Food came. All burnt. I've never seen such cremated veg. You could have used it for charcoal. At nearly £17 a pop it was horrendous. They gave 3 of us the same sized veg bowl as tables for two were getting. Hardly any veg. I hadn't asked for anything at all and I asked a member of staff for some horseradish sauce. Some girl covered head to foot in tattoos. She widened her eyes at me in a way she must have thought was threatening and was so rude to me and told me to wait. I've literally never seen such a rude waitress. She will do that to someone one day and get knocked out. Had to go to bar to pay. No one came to see how our food was. My partner told them all the food was burned. Staff didn't care. Don't waste your money on anything but a drink here. Beautiful location shame about the rest.

Brilliant service last night can’t wait to come back again. We were greeted at the door and felt welcomed right away. We had burgers as it was 50% off, highly recommend the dirty Philly burger!!

Food is really good and a good price, nice old building in line with what I expected from Warwick itself as an area. The staff were so good as I have fussy children and they bent over backwards to accomodate them

Great food and amazing no staff! I visit here about 3-4 times per week with work and always eat in the restaurant. The food is consistently good. I’m so glad they have started offering jacket potatoes they are amazing. Emma who serves them is great, she is really friendly and full of energy!

Popped in for a cone of chips. Was given a poly box full! Top quality and tasty and some of great length. Other chip shops who serve chips like batter bits take note! Friendly lady serving and nice and hot.
