Awful place - noisy, loud music, too many intrusive large tv screens, minimal vegetarian options, slow service - only one person serving drinks, taking orders, delivering food. Vegetarian burger mostly rice with texture of raw mince; coleslaw typical supermarket stuff.

Ate here due to staying at the hotel. Menu was ok but quite limited. Decided to go for a burger as nothing really stuck out. It was ok, and not the worst burger I’ve had, but definitely not worth the £14 I paid for it. The restaurant itself is ok, but the bar prices already added insult to injury on an already overpriced meal. The food looked ok and tasted ok, but definitely not worth coming back for. If you are staying at the hotel for one night, it will serve its purpose of being the easy option. I can’t imagine anyone coming to this restaurant for any other reason. I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and decided to eat out for the other 2 nights as there are a lot of other restaurants locally. Glad that I did.

The grill is now the restaurant of the Village hotel and has re-branded itself. The menu has a good choice, but the food is then rather average (ie nothing to write home about, but acceptable) - better try the nearby Miller & Carter grill, with similar prices but much better food.

we arrived back late around 8pm and had just missed out on the Friday burger special for £1.00 - ended at 7.30 pm. So decided not to have the burger at the now price of £8.95 so order Fish and chips and a chicken wrap. Fish was quite bland, thin and tasteless but chips were delicious and in plentiful supply. The lad who served us was pleasant, polite and asked if everything was ok - we decided not to complain as he was so nice. However at £10.95 for fish and chips its a bit steep for what it was. Our biggest gripe here is the cost of drinks and yet again we were not disappointed by the charges - think by now we should have learned not to drink here - but its only advantage is you do not have to drive whilst staying here. We ordered two Pina Coladas which was on a very large specials board behind the bar - at £4.95 each - only for the girl to ask for £12.00. When I questioned it she just said, sorry its now our new menu and that's the price on the till. I said I was not interested in the cost n the till and pointed out the huge bill poster with the prices on - only to be told - I will see what I can do !! - What I said - you will charge me the advertised price that's what you will do - whereupon she gave me the difference in cost out of the till. I then went back to order a pint of Lager shandy only to see her put in the cost of the pint of Budweiser at £4.15, followed by a £0.70 splash cost for lemonade. I questioned what was the £0.70p for to be told its for the extra lemonade - but I explained she had put in more than half a pint of lemonade and toped it up with Lager - so I had not had a full pint of Lager not even a full half pint. She spoke to a lad behind the bar who said - sorry its what we have to do on the till - So a pint of Lager costs £4.15 a Pint and a Lager shandy - using much less lager and watered down lemonade costs £4.85 - an absolute joke and believe me - next time will NOT BE DRINKINK HERE AGAIN - What a complete "Rip off"

We have just come back from a fantastic Sunday lunch at the Verve Grill, Village Hotel, Solihull. It's £14.99 for adults and kids eat free. An amazing array of starters including prawns, smoked salmon, pate, cold meat platter. The starters are displayed beautifully and you can try everything. Delicious fresh bread. Then an outstanding carvery, quality meat (turkey, beef and gammon) and a variety fresh vegetables. The vegetables deserve a special mention as they were perfectly cooked and continuously refreshed. Amazing homemade gravy too. To finish, another beautifully presented table with freshly made waffles and an ice cream machine with a variety of sprinkles. The best chocolate mousse ever and a zesty lemon cheesecake were also available or selection of fresh fruit salads. You simply can't beat this for value for money on a Sunday - family friendly, a comfortable room, attentive staff, easy parking and fabulous food. A brilliant experience all round. Highly recommended!

This restaurant serves good standard evening meals. Breakfast is not that great and they have a very silly rule that if you don't book breakfast when checking in, then you will be charged more. A very quick way to annoy your customers, especially when they were not told this by the receptionist checking them in!

This place is a real nice little gem on a Sunday. They do a basic carvery 3 meats , basic veg , Yorkshires best thing is its all you can eat. They dnt mess about with portion control either . But before the Carvery you get offered Soup of the day LOADS of starters from salmon , selection of meats , prawn cocktail , breads etc (added a picture) Desert loads of choice from ice cream to chocolate eclairs . All the above for £14.95 For me it beats waiting in a hour long queue for a toby Carvery pub its a sunday feast without the hustle and bustle of a boozer.

We entered the Verve Restaurant around 8.15pm this was the first of our 2 night break with Dinner Inclusive. It was a "Set Menu" and although given two menus to mix and match choice is not that great (for what you pay) My wife chose Salmon and on a restricted menu of around 6 mains was extremely disappointed to be told that they had no Salmon. I chose the house Burger and specifically stated NO CHEESE - despite this when the meal arrived it had cheese on it - the waiter did change it quite quickly but left the large chipped potatoes as they were cold. Drinks are also quite pricey £8.40 for a Large glass of wine and £4.10 for a "Shandy" is over the top. Next Morning at breakfast I had my usual full English, but upon eating my first piece of sausage found it had a horrible taste - my wife tasted it and thought it was "Off" - after that I just had a piece of toast and did not bother to eat any more. We also saw remnants of food from the previous evening still on the restaurant floor - not very good for a hotel restaurant. It was made even worse when one of the waitresses began to clean the table next to ours and just sprayed her cleaner on to the table - which was covered in all sorts of bits of food - then just wiped it off and let most of it fall on the floor. I was convinced she would come back to clean it up - but unfortunately not whilst we were still in the restaurant. We are returning here in November but this time have decided not to book for dinner.

Works dinner on a Friday night and the expectation was not high but to be honest it wasn't too bad. I think their expertise lies in burgers and ribs. I had stuffed mushrooms to start and the portion was meagre. The stroganoff wasn't bad but again, a small portion. Those who had ribs or similar got the better deal. The restaurant is quite attractive but a little souless and it smells of stale food. The bar there is pretty horrendous (not attached to the restaurant) and because they show the football in there, was more like a pick up joint, rowdy and a complete mess. To be honest I wouldn't go out of my way to go again.

My colleague and I had dinner here recently and found the food ordered quite ordinary. The grilled mushrooms for starters were pretty tasteless and only the main courses of salmon teriyaki and burger were somewhat better. The service was extremely slow and it turned out that they were turning customers away despite being only half full as there was an event for 100 people going on in the hotel and the sheds were under pressure. Should not be really the case in a hotel restaurant.

Stayed at the hotel for a weekend break (meeting up with family) & concerned about the previous comment. We decided we'd chance it & were very glad we did. Went for the set Christmas menu (£15 for 2 courses, £20 for 3). The smoked haddock fish cake & poached egg starter was piping hot, the egg cooked to perfection & was very tasty. We all had the roast turkey with all the trimmings which wasn't gourmet but very acceptable. We shared a dessert as we were rather full -a lemon mousse which was very nice. The restaurant was very quiet (unlike the sport's bar where we couldn't talk to each other because of the noise!), the staff were lovely & we were so impressed that we went the following night again. Had roasted pepper & tomato soup followed by a mushroom, asparagus & butternut squash wellington which was super delicious.

My Husband and i ate at The Verve Grill, he had Ribs, there was clearly an issue with them, either they were contaminated or mouldy but they tasted really off. I tried them and immediately spat them ot they were that bad. After trying them The restaurant manager stated to us that they dont normally taste like that! The manager offered us a replacement but we were both so put off we didn't eat any of the rest of our meal. We were given a refund of the ribs but i was so put off i didn't eat any of my main or sides so i do feel a full refund would have been warranted. I have complained however the response back was poor, the manager stated that i didn't ask for a full refund on the evening and didn't mention it at breakfast as such its a no then! Considering i was a little uncomfortable asking this in the public restaurant with lots of people looking at us clearly doesn't matter to this manager!Complaint could have been handled much better which would then have resulted in me saying disappointing mel however rectified well great customer service, however what i am now saying is terrible food, really poor customer service and i wont stay here again.

Visited last night to celebrate my mothers birthday. Was slightly surprised that although we pre-booked and there were 9 of us , no one had mentioned the celebrations menu!Starters weren't the best - Prawn cocktail had more lettuce than prawns/ liver pate was tasteless and I'm not sure which part of Italy luncheon meat comes from (anti pasta).Main courses were however much better.Which leads us to the desserts - A mousse is supposed to be full of air bubbles, with a light and airy texture - mine was completely the opposite and was like paste. The creme brulee is made from CUSTARD and then we have the baked cheesecake - with no base, just the top section. When we asked the waitress where the base was, she asked the chef who replied "its a baked cheesecake!" Maybe he should have googled "a baked cheesecake" before making that statement.!!!!!!!!On a plus, the chocolate brownie was delicious but maybe that's why they give it to the kids! Finally watch your bill - kids eat free with a paying adult - luckily we have someone in the family who checks the bill thoroughly! There are a lot of comments on here regarding the service - yes , it wasnt the best but then again it was the worst - a little training on customer service would probably be beneficial. We were looking for somewhere to have our family Christmas meal - I can safely say it WILL NOT BE HERE!

On the face of it 4 courses for £14.95 with no limits looks a bargain. Yes if you are not fussy about the cleanliness of the place or lack of service then fine.On arrival we were kept waiting a long time before being seated at a table with what appeared to be suede chairs which had so many stains that my partner asked for another chair. The woman who told us the name of the waitress who would be looking after us and then walked off. No sign of her so we attracted the first lady purely to order a drink but she did not seem able to do this.Wine ordered and we went to get our first course - the song" little boxes" comes to mind as for each selection a Perspex little box with salad and either a small piece of salmon, prawns, Caesar salad or tomato and Italian cheese. You choose your box and take bread or there was some pate. Watching others some were taking several little boxes as well as the pate and bread making me wonder if they were going to make a picnic for later! The main course is a carvery but the chef had an odd way of dealing with each plate by taking the plate off the warmer then placing it above him on the top of the metal heat strip so each time he cut a slice of meat had to lift it upwards to put on the plate!Good selection of vegetables but by the time we got back to the table the food was cold. For dessert there were a selection of items this time in small bowls ready portioned or a hot sweet.Yes there was a lot of food to eat but I would rather pay more and have some decent service and a cleaner restaurant. Sadly lacking a decent Restaurant Manager.

Stayed the night at the village urban resort Solihull as wanted a break from running my business, to be honest we couldn't of picked a worse hotel to stay at. We booked in for a 3 course meal in the verve restaurant, Tom seated us in the almost empty dining area right next to the only other couple in there and on a table that was broken and spilt our drinks every time we touched it. I asked the waiter if we could move to another table and it turned out the chair at that table was broken too. After ordereing some dipping bread for me and garlic bread for my wife to have while we waited for our starters to come, Tom bought in a family of 4 with 2 young loud children and sat them directly next to us.... Once again... The restaurant was still empty!. The waiter bought out our bread but with no oils, I asked and waited 5 minutes before another waiter bought our soup... We had only just had our first meal delivered and I was still waiting for oil and now our table was full of food. After asking again the oil came over and we started our leak and potato soup (salt and pepper slop would if been a more accurate description). For mains we ordered Cajun chicken (as they had ran out of most other things) with sweet potato fries and chantilaise carrots (baby whole carrots) but when it came the plate was too hot to touch and the food was cold, the chicken was dry and the carrots were just normal sliced boiled carrots.Desert was creme brule for my wife and sticky toffee pudding with custard for myself, the creme brule had been made with no sugar so had to be returned and taken off the menu and the sticky toffee pudding was covered in the skin of a custard. All came to £65 as they had done the bill wrong...All in all, probably the worst meal ever... While we sat in the lounge we saw at least 20 people bring in take away and even a dominoes pizza delivery came I to the bar.... If you have to stay here a would advise you do the same!

No problems booking at the time we wanted but had a bit of a wait to be seated when we turned up on time even though it wasn't that busy. Once seated the staff were very friendly and incredibly attentive. The menu looked quite good for a chain hotel and when the first course arrived we were very pleasantly surprised.( Perfect poached egg on top of a very tasty fish cake) Main course not so wonderful as the pasta was a bit over cooked and it was piled high almost to the extent of being overwhelming and I could only eat half of it despite having a 'healthy appetite!' The ribs and chips were however gorgeous. Desert was very tasty (creme brûlée). The restaurant manager in particular stood out for his attentiveness and helpfulness. For the price of the weekend the inclusive meal was very good value and I would go back but wouldn't choose the pasta again. Had a curry on the second night which was very very good. Creme brulee looked promising - cold in the middle - White granulated sugar unmelted under caramel glaze. Heating broken freezing cold. Good service though and complimentary coffee' for lack of heat.

We had a dinner bed and breakfast deal at the village. The food at the verve was very good. However the service was poor. Not many in and the 3 courses took well over 2 hours. Example- the matre de- kept calling us GUYS all the time ( got on my nerves) told me my dessert which was an excellent choice would take 10-12 minutes to arrive but would be worth the wait. 40 minutes later when it did arrive it was very good but not worth the 40 minute wait. We had to ask for a jug of water 4 times before it arrived as well as waiting 15 minutes at the start for 2 drinks. The food in this restaurant is very good. Shame about the service

It's now 9:46pm. I went here with friends at 6.15pm so there were 4 of us. Arrived under the impression we had 2 hours at the table (pre-warned), as is usually the way. Anyway we were shown to a table a distance away from a 40 person party - nice touch. Ordered drinks (beer was a little flat for one of the party). Then ordered sides of olives and bread -looked good but we struggled to eat as they had run out of cocktail sticks and we were promised forks that never arrived. Anyway, went on to main course. Gnocchi (very small portion), Chicken Kiev, Chicken Breast and I had a Full Rack of Pork Ribs. Ribs were cooked but very dry. 3 of us had a small portion of chips and minimal little else. Finished off with shared lemon cheesecake and a couple of Lattes'. Total cost appx £23/head. A lot for an average meal. A shame the food did not live up to the exceptional service - young, keen staff and knowledgeable. I really hope the food improves, even if they have to increase the prices as the location leads you to forget where you are with a holiday feel. And I was really impressed with the staff.

Went with friends for the Sunday 5 course buffet. Cost was £14pp. Good value for money and the food was very tasty. Only downside was the service. We had to ask for drinks. The waitress do not come over once throughout the meal which I thought was poor.

Sunday self service buffet. Good choice for all the three courses. The food is 'average' , as you would expect for the price. The staff were very attentive and child frendly, there was an activity area for childen just outside the restaurant, this may have been because it was Easter. We we unrushed (we did book for 2-30) and my party of 10 all seemed very relaxed and unrushed. It was just like Sunday lunch should be food and chat. I would add that the bar area was a little matcho with football TV and pool but again good staff. The building and facilities are very mod and up to the minute. Go and wonder and enjoy - we all did.

We have visited the Verve Grill for the Sunday meal on several occasions and have not been disappointed to date. Always a good selection of salads and soup for starters, the carvery very tasty and a tasty selection of deserts, better on our last two visits than previously. The staff were very pleasant, the one complaint I have is on this occasion my phone call was not returned when attempting to book hence I had to phone back. So 8/10 if I hadn't known it was going to be worth the effort I probably wouldn't have bothered to call back!

We used a voucher to try this restaurant; not knowing what to expecting. Not only was the food very good but we were very impressed with the staff and service. They not only has a very good knowledge of the food they were serving and wine suggestions. They went out of their way to give us excellent customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. Very well done to everyone!

Lots of choice on menu. Food was well presented. Good prices that were even better with the vouchers we were given as we were guests at the hotel.Changed tables, we started in front of the door with a real draught. Fine once we moved.

Not a lot of choice. Overpriced somewhat. Service not wonderful but ok. Starter of prawns and avocado not worth the money. No avocado seemed present. Prawns cut in half to look as if you had more. I also dislike having to pay extra for vegetables It was also a bit chilly in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast.

Visited here on a living social deal so we were offered a restricted menu with the option to pay a supplements on a couple of items. I had a sweet corn and pancetta soup which was unusual but pleasant enough. Hubby had the chicken liver pate of which there was plenty and he said was good. For mains he paid the supplement and had the sirloin steak and I chose the smoked haddock fish cake with poached egg. Both were nicely presented and good to eat in particular the fish cake. For dessert I had the peanut butter and chocolate parfait and he chose the choc fondant with pistachio ice cream. The choc fondant was overlooked so bitter in taste but mine though sickly was ok.It's difficult to put your finger on it, it's perfectly pleasant but just doesn't have a wow factor. I guess I expected more from this hotel chain. That said it was good value with the deal but even with out it would be. It came to £51 with a beer and bottle of house wine.

Visited restaurant on a fairly busy Friday night and had the 2 dine for £29 menu with a free bottle of wine included as part of the package deal that we had purchased for our stay in the hotel. Soup starter was very tasty and freshly made, main courses of chicken kiev and 8 oz burger were Ok but not startling, and the sticky toffee pudding and peanut brittle and chocolate parfait were very acceptable. The house wine was fairly poor quality and if we had paid the £16.50 for it would have been severely disappointed. Service was satisfactory but when it came to paying the bill there was some confusion as they obviously run so many different discount or special offers the staff don't all know how to deal with them on the bill. Overall it was an OK meal for the money once you factor in the free bottle of wine.

Came for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. Food was terrible and service extremely poor. We complained and was given the opportunity to come back and they would give us a free meal. I'm sorry to say that although the food was slightly better the service was still of a very poor standard. Although it is local for us as a family we will not be returning. Staff need to have a lot of training

Unfortunately, broke my rule of not researching this restaurant before a visit. I had hoped it would be a nice new place I could visit locally and took a chance. The food is terrible and is over-priced. Drinks are also expensive. My husband's starter was supposed to be tiger prawns and avacado. The prawns had been sliced??? and were not tiger prawns. This was a very sorry looking starter priced at £7.95. It was sent back. The main course of steak was a 'misteak' but the ribs faired ok. We were offered free deserts to make up for the poor quality of the food but after 15 minutes we gave up waiting and decided to leave. Fortunately, as a member of the gym, I qualified for a 20% discount, but a 20% discount off an awful meal, is still an AWFUL meal!!

Really nice hotel with great facilities but have expereinced problems with the Verve Grill. Should have realised service would be an issue when numerous (and I mean literally dozens)attempts to book a table were foiled by a) no one answering the phone and b) when the call diverted to reception no one rang back.Eventually called at hotel and met new restaurant manager who assured me all would be seamless from now on for my Xmas booking of 10 - arrived to am empty retsuarant and twas therefore surprised to wait a hour for drinks and starters to arrive. Waitresses did not know prices on fixed menus and we also had to wait for menus to be photocopied and for someone to come down from another part of the hotel to go through the prices etc. Poor preparation and unprofessionalFood reasonable - rest of service reasonable but nothing to write home about. When there is so much choice and better service locally there is no need to settle for such a lack lustre expereince. In summary I have e mailed hotel manager to give feedback - to date she hasnt bothered to reply - does'nt that say it all?????

I came yesterday with my friends for afternoon tea, it was by far the worst afternoon tea experience we’ve ever had!! I was so shocked that this awful experience came from such reputable hotel! Very unexpected! I was so looking forward for a traditional afternoon tea and I choose the hotel based on reputation and location and invited my friends to come along, I’ve initially booked for 7 and two cancelled on the day for emergency reasons, the afternoon tea was then served, it didn’t look appetising or inviting, tea cups arrived with no saucers underneath, no cups for water for water bottles!! The food was served on one of these wooden blocks which was unexpected and unappealing for the traditional afternoon tea style we were expecting, those blocks were ugly and made it hard to access the items desolated inside and made it hard to communicate with ont another as there in ur face kind of thing!! The whole desolate looked like anything but a traditional afternoon tea style! Coming to the food itself We had soggy couple of sandwiche sliced each, unappealing purple dyed salmon setting on densed pastry (why would u dye the beautiful salmon colour in that unappealing appetising way, it was awfull, we also had arancini balls with meat in the middle despite me telling them we dont want anything containing meat or pork or alcohol when I booked, they apologised and replaced it later with vege version, Scones where ice cold, not fresh and it looked and tasted like what you get in these prepackaged scones from supermarkets,, we also had runny icecrem with few diced pieces of strawberries swimming in the middle, At this point we were off and didn’t want to complete the couple of items left in the sweet section because they also looked like something u just opened from packaging and placed on a plate in a rush!! When we’re ready to pay I was told I need to pay for seven although five came and I asked for afternoon for five on arrival as two cancelled due to emergency happened at the time, no one mentioned this when I booked and it didnt sound right that I have to pay for two extra when they didn’t turn up, The restaurant manager came and told me that he had to prepare for seven and I have to pay for seven because of this, at this point I flipped and wasn’t sure what exactly was pre prepared as everything there looked like ready made supermarket quality food not a top hotel restaurant quality food, and he can see they that there was food left over which shows that wr didn’t enjoy what wr had!! He the. Said I don’t know what’s ur explanation from an afternoon trea, I then Stopped him and said I’ve been to so many in my life most in hotels and I never received this below average experince, food in other place looked artisan, made for you, prepared, inviting, appetising, opposite to what we had! He then apologised and ask me to pay for the five wr had! I’ll never come back again nor my friends will, worst food and very unprofessional restaurant manager, he’s got zero customer service and satisfaction experince!! What a shame…
