GREAT! So happy with the new management team and the staff they kept on. Great little pub, friendly and happy for dogs to go in too. Serving our favourite beer (Doom Bar) and the chef makes a great mac and cheese 😋. Just right for lunchtime. So pleased to have a great local.

Really got fingers crossed that there are just teething problems as really like this pub and the convenience of going there Not an amazing reception upon entering but it did get better Guiness came overflowing all over glass Went to try out the Sunday dinner it's £15 per person for adults Meat was very tough and tasteless Everything was from the freezer, the stuffing, the yorkshires, parsnips The roast potatos, mash, carrots and cabbage were nice although the veg had a strange after taste that the partner said was a bit like copper Family said sprouts were uneatable Asked for apple sauce, told they had none but did have loads of other sauces. Table of 6 and two teaspoons of each sauce requested came, enough for one person Ordered kids pizza, says on menu it is a small pizza and chips and only pizza came on a plate. Asked if chips included, said no and questioned on why the menu said it did. Brought some oven chips shortly after No basic sauces given with cutlery No children's cutlery like there used to be Nice to have order taken at table Plates removed after eating promptly, never offered dessert menu or bill until we went to ask Heard someone else complaining they had ordered a drink that said it had fruit included but they had to ask for it We never normally check menus or bills etc but we felt we had to Shame really as food used to be rubbish but service was normally good Need to improve on Welcome when entering Basic sauces with cutlery Kids cutlery Standard of drinks served More home made, better quality, less frozen food or a cut in price Larger sauce portions given, appropriate to table All items included on menu given without asking Dessert menu offered Bill offered Hopefully as they get into the swing of things it will get better

I went with my mum for lunch, and as it's under new ownership I was looking forward to see the changes. The layout has changed, it is much nicer. Daz, has previously cooked a steak I have ordered, to perfection, and this time was able to confirm the different size of the fish on offer, advising whats the best for mum and myself. Emily was on hand to serve and provide the drinks, offering to bring them to the table when ordering

Over the years I’ve been to this pub on countless occasions, it used to have a great atmosphere and a good clientele, I was horrified to see the condition this once great pub has found itself in. All the regular clientele have long gone, for a local sorry to see not one familiar face. Frankly the pub is now filled with yobs, it’s tatty, it smells and there’s little children running around way past thier bedtime. I’d never thought I’d say this in a million years but it needs bulldozing. What a shame this was an outstanding pub in a prime location once.

Booked a table on line, which was easy enough. Arrived at the Windmill, the lady logged in to find our booking, which took a little while as the app kept logging her out, and it had ‘the longest ever password’ to log in - her words not mine. Took our seats, and ordered our drinks via the app. After about 10 mins, the same lady asked if we were ok, we said we were waiting for drinks, she went back to the bar and retrieved our order and brought our drinks to us. Next round of drinks which again were order via the app arrived promptly. Next we ordered our mains. Medium rare 10oz stake, and a lasagna. Food arrived. Lasagna was very good. Not overpowered with tomato or garlic, very tasty. Hubby’s medium rare stake was overcooked making it a bit dry and lacking taste, but he didn’t want to wait for another to be cooked. Not once did anyone check with us how the meal was. During the meal we ordered another round of drinks, and waited patiently. The lack of drinks made a dry steak even less palatable. We finished the meals (well left half the steak) yet still no drinks. After 25 minutes I went to the bar to cancel the drinks and ask for a refund. After tapping many buttons, hey presto the order was located. There was much confusion over how to do a refund, and at one stage it was suggested that we may have to have cash and the staff member sort it later, but eventually it got sorted as a refund to the card. STILL NO ENQUIRY AS TO HOW THE MEALS WERE!!!!!! As much as I enjoyed the lasagna, I don’t think we will visit again. One member of staff was spending more time having a chat with the locals than checking on things. There were a lot of food orders being collected for delivery, I felt that these were being prioritised above the seated diners. I wish I could say the pub was busy, but it really wasn’t so there was no excuse.

Now this pub has had its ups and downs especially in relation to the restaurant. It’s now under new management and I have to say we were more than pleasantly surprised by the service and the quality of the food. The portions were generous and it was VERY reasonably priced. Wow this place has really gone to the dogs. It’s always been a drinkers pub but I heard it had fairly recently had a refurb so I thought I’d pop in whilst visiting family.Food wise - no complaints. Didn’t expect it to be top level and you get what you pay for at these types of places. What really, really annoyed me was the disgraceful lack of management regarding yobs and the Covid regulations. The rule is 6 people in a social group. It’s not difficult maths and so should be easy to manage. Whilst sat with my brother and father we observed two groups come in (clearly together) but ‘separate’. Not a single one of them used the hand sanitizer and not a single one had a mask. They were loud and yobbish and completely spoilt the atmosphere.I made a passing comment to my brother and the table next to us said they were regulars and it’s how it’s become. They actually said the only benefit of Covid is no pool table so it’s helped a tiny bit. These yobs were swearing and shouting and in and out from cigarette breaks and again at no time were the told to wear their masks when walking about or to sanitise. Mind you, when the staff think it’s appropriate to be wearing football shorts and dirty trainers to work you kind of get the impression that nobody has their eye on the ball.I’m really disappointed that my old local has been ruined by idiots and staff that don’t care.I’m contrast I visited my other old locals the Swynnerton Arms and Blacklake Inn which were far superior and superbly managed!! No yobs, no noise, no ignorance towards Covid!!

We have always loved going to the Windmill for drinks and food however we have had so many problems recently, we went for steak night in the new year no steaks then again a few weeks after phone told food would be served till 21.00 when we arrived at 20.30 we were told kitchen was closed I said I had rang, manager checked with bar staff then told us it was closed as the chef had been sick in the kitchen we again went recently on steak night as we have had really good steaks there, ordered rump and ribeye we actually got 2 rumps after checking my bill I had only been charged for 2 rumps as the bar man had put order in incorrectly but instead of saying he had made a mistake they tried to tell us one was a rump and one was a ribeye this was totally untrue it would have been much better had he owned up to the mistake such a shame as the Windmill has been our local for over 38 years sometimes honestly is better than lies.

Our party of 13 each ordered different meals ... each were so terribly disgusting we all agreed we would have sent it all back had it not been a family occasion.I had the £14 mixed grill ... everything was so overcooked it was burnt. The black pudding slice was like an ice hockey puck. What should have been Gammon was like a pork(ish) shoe leather. The garden peas had wwrinkles. My wife's Fish was wearing steel armour batter. The Suet pudding was in disguise as some form of short crust pastry.I only assume the chef being on crutches couldn't have helped. All the meals came across as though they'd been kept plated in the oven overnight. The pint of beer was nice .. Not enough oe mr to cross it path ever again. My advise ... stop for a half and buy a McDs instead !!!!

The guy was pleasant enough but the female was snappy and surly and when she came to too us they were short of fish for the fish and chips (I ask you!) I came here with 2 of my friends for tea. Never again! The minute we walked in you could see that the staff were disinterested in serving anybody. We sat down and could not see the special menu for £9.99 so went up and asked. The bar man/manager was possibly the most nonchalant person I have ever come across. He quickly stated that the only starter on the menu they had was soup - no apology. So I ordered drinks. I asked for a merlot - we haven’t got any - no apology, I asked for a rose pinot - we haven’t got any - no apology. After choosing a drink they actually did have we went to order the food. We went to the bar and the same bar man served us. We asked for 2 sausage and mash only to be told - we haven’t got any - no apology! At this point I told him that the service was shocking and informed him that not once had he apologised for the amount of food and drink that was unavailable to us and that his manner was truly shocking when dealing with customers. Again and for the last time - No apology!! At this point we got our coats and went to the Swynerton Arms which was 2 minutes away where we had fabulous food and fabulous service! My advice to the Windmill - put your staff on a customer service course!

Went here with my sister, her boyfriend and my mum today. We ordered on two separate tills at the exact same time. Mine and my mum's food came first and we had finished eating by the time they got my sister and her boyfriend's meals were served. My mum's meal was steak which was inedible due to the amount of fat. She was also missing the onion rings that my sister's boyfriend who also had steak received on his meal. I complained to a waitress who made no attempt to apologise and simply said she would get a manager. It took at least ten minutes for a stone faced manager to come to our table. Never as a customer have I been spoken to so rudely. This woman was vile, she argued that because we hadn't paid with the same card that one set of meals got put through, then some other customers and then the other set of ours. This was a load of crap as there was no one else at the till when we paid. She told me that she wasn't lying whilst quite clearly accusing me of lying. I told her that we had the three issues which had ruined our experience and I wanted the money refunding or at the very least a free round of drinks or desserts. This woman argued with me for a solid ten minute, telling me that I'd already had friends and family discount so she wouldn't do anything else. Like this discount was an excuse for bad service? I think not! She contradicted everything I was saying, denied the blatant issues I presented her with and refused to do anything. I am absolutely raging and will never visit this place again, absolutely terrible staff. I will be complaining to head office tomorrow.

This was advised after we were seated, opened our tab and had already been served drinks. It was not advised on the day of booking, nor earlier in the day of the 15th when I rang to enquire if the reservation could be brought forward by 1 hour. The party left very disgruntled, without eating and went to another venue for food with 4 very hungry children, including a baby. We called here today, first time, after a lovely day out in the area. First impression was, clean and spacious but not too busy. There were four in our party and our order was fairly simple, drinks and food. However, we were given five sets of cutlery but only three meals! The meals that arrived were satisfactory, apart from the hunters chicken arriving very dry and no bbq sauce, but the fourth meal, the simplest was the superfood salad with halloumi which didn't arrive. The young man serving, had brought the three meals to the table but didn't mention the last one. Then he came back and asked if there should have been another meal which we said was correct. He went back to the kitchen and the chef came out, went back in, and then sent out a very poor version of the meal ordered. There was no avocado, slow roasted tomatoes, cucumber, wheatberry, beetroot, cous cous or carrot. The bowl was just salad leaves and vine tomatoes with cold pre-cooked halloumi with the dressing. As we were on our way home for a set time, we didn't have time to complain or wait for a replacement so we left after all finishing. Unfortunately, we won't be recommending The Windmill for food to friends but maybe for a drink.

This pub has the worst customer service I have ever been in. We were served by a blonde girl I think was called Jodie. Total lack of politeness, customer service quite frankly rude. All in front of the Manager. The food was (if you could call it food) was fit for the animals at Twycross Zoo. Would not recommend this "restaurant" to anyone. Save your money!

Went with a small group for a Birthday celebration on Saturday Night. For a pub restaurant to run out of Steak at 7pm on Saturday night is unacceptable. To cap it all they were also out of my second and third choices. In the end it was quicker to ask the Wait Staff what they did have. my pork ribs when they finally turned up were excellent but they also didn't have any Sweet Potato Chips so I settled for a salad. One of our party wanted Gluten Free only to discover that the Chips were fried in batter which is not Gluten Free.I felt sorry for the wait staff who seemed to spend most of their time apologising for Management failures. Food and Service ok but a menu with far too many unavailable items. In addition when I ordered Red Wine at the bar it took a bit of time to come as believe or not the bar staff had to go and look for a new bottle. All in all a bit shambolic.

Came here with the grandson and the wife, had 2 hunters chicken and Cumberland sausage (due to not having any lasagna). The meals come very fast which left me suspicious. Anyways we tucked in and the chips were very nice on the hunters chicken but the staple bit on the the plate... The chicken... Tasted like you had rubbed it across charcoal. l and I can't see how you can get that taste because the chicken its self was soggy and really sinewy. How ever the wife really enjoyed the sausages but the mash was rock hard and more or less cold. I suppose you expect anything less off packet mash. All in all an ok night but weatherspoons has a better standard

Now the renovation has been completed it is a much nicer place to be. The decor is still in tune with its old roots but with a modern and welcoming twist. The staff are always polite and friendly. The food prices have gone up but so has the standard of the food and drink.

We've been coming here on and off for a few years and seen a few owners/managers. The food is good for pub grub but it is trying to be something it isn't. The food prices have creeped up and the portions made smaller. The most annoying thing is the current trend of serving chips in ting pots, almost like small plant pots and daft shaped plates that you cannot even rest your knife on without it sliding off onto the floor. What is wrong with a normal plate and food served upon it? The selection of drinks is hit and miss. Tonight they didn't have any Shiraz. 7/10 from us.

I havent been hwre since it was refurbed and it must have new owners as the place looks brill inside. The staff are well trained , dressed professionally and didnt refer to me as 'mate', 'pal' or 'fella' - I was referred to as sir which is what you should expect. They have a good range of beers also, not just your typical Carling and Stella! The meal deal during the week was great too - two meals for £9.99 - my grandmother had the burger and what a burger it was - clearly freshly cooked and sidnt appear to be a frozen one. I had the hunters chicken and it was nice and moist, the cheese was 'propa' cheese and not that fake cheese you get in chain pubs. All in all, a great meal and I will definetely be going again:-D.

Walked in, looked at the menu and didn't stay. i am a regular customer here but since the change i haven't been so decided to give it a go. the menu is far to small and boring meals. we didn't get to the eating point due to not wanting anything from the menu. Maybe just my taste hence why the average review. New decor is lovely and seating area outside adds to the charm.

Popped in here for an average pub meal, but got a pleasant surprise as been done up with a very nice interior. Prices have risen, but I found food to be very nice. For just a nice meal out with a lovely atmosphere I'd come here as staff very pleasant to me.

Visited on a Saturday night with my husband for an evening meal. We have eaten here before and used to visit every few weeks. The pub has recently re-opened following a refurbishment and the new decor is very nice and fresh. We found the menu very limited. Only 4 or 5 starters to choose from, none of which interested us. The main meals were equally disappointing, not very adventurous, just a quite boring selection of basic pub grub. We both had a different choice of burger, served with chips in one of those baskets that we have inherited from the continent, so not a very big portion and no garnish etc.The food that we had was very nice though, well cooked and tasty. The desert selection was, again 4, maybe 5, items, none of which we fancied. The waiting on staff were polite but not very pleasant. All in all we were quite disappointed with the whole experience and won't be rushing back. However, if you are looking for a basic pub grub menu, rather than a special night out, the food was nice. The total cost was £23.58 for two burgers and chips, a pint of beer and half a cider

This pub has been transformed from previous management, the menu is quality to match the staff and service. Can completely recommend this to anyone needing good proper home cooked pub grub, fast service with a smile and top bar staff too boot, very welcoming and lovely lunch, thank you! Plus refurbed toilets so much nicer:-))

Met family here for a few drinks before moving on elsewhere. I have to say I loved the selection of cask ales and it was a great atmosphere in the place. Can't really comment on anything else as it was a quick visit so no food was ordered.

We have visited here for the last 20 years probably only once every couple of months. It has always been a good value for money place to eat.We were looking forward to eating here as its been refurbished. The new refurb can't be knocked, but noticed the prices have substantially increased. Which we reserved judgement until the food was served. We were told it would be 25 minute delay, after 40 minutes cutlery was brought and told the meal was on its way. Well the kitchen must have been a fair way away as it took a further 20 minutes. Was it worth the wait............. No.The steak was tasteless both on my husbands meal and my daughters salad. The tartlet wasn't what you would expect a tartlet to look like but tasted better than it looked.Sorry but both my husband and I said we have always come here for a good value tea and this certainly wasn't. So sorry not impressed at all, no one even came over to collect dishes or ask us if we had enjoyed the meal or clear glasses and inside the pub was empty so they weren't rushed of their feet.

This Pub has been refurbished since our previous visit. The furniture makes for a very comfortable visit. The food quality was extremely good and service was both friendly and speedy. Our party of four all had different meals and quality and temperature was "spot on".Very good value.

Not only did we have to wait on a Monday lunch time for 50 minutes for a kids dinner, a pate (that we were told was sold out only 30 minutes after ordering it) and a cheese and pickle sandwich. The sandwich in question comprised of 2 rounds of bone dry brown bread from a packet, some grated cheese of no description and some bagged lettuce from a supermarket charged out at £5, which was refunded to be fair. Definitely won't return.

We have been coming to the Windmill for our weekly quiz for a around three years now and always enjoy the evening. Quiz masters and landlords and landladies have come and gone during this time. We have always found the bar staff to be friendly and welcoming and in recent times, Sue and Dave have always done a great job of running the quiz. This evening, we met Anne-Marie the new landlady, who greeted us with a complimentary glass of port and a snowball. We also received a free bottle of wine from Sue as a Christmas present. As if that wasn't enough, Anne-Marie and her husband put on a free buffet for the customers which consisted of a lovely assortment of food to show their appreciation to customers. During and after the quiz, there were a whole host of raffles and goodies to be won and we were fortunate enough to win a bottle of Bailey's. This is going above and beyond all expectations and we would like to thank you very much for a very enjoyable evening. We will continue to support the Windmill for many years to come. Sophie and Karl

I have used the Windmill for many years and seen landlord's and sta8 come and go but the current management are warm and friendly. The staff go that extra mile to ensure that the customers are made welcome. The Food is exellent and the choice of real ale and wines are by far the best locally. I would highly recommend this village pub to anyone.

Had heard it was a good place to eat so took some friends. Wish we hadn't. Firstly, area we sat at was extremely cold with my friends still wearing their jackets througout meal. Food took just over 1hr to be served. Mix-up with meals followed. I had wanted a pudding but really didn't want to stay in longer. Will not be returning.

I have been here many times and it used to be very good. Its a shame but every time we visit it gets worse. On every visit they have run out of something. On the last they had no onions, no fish and no gammon. Previously they were serving wine in half pint glasses as they had no wine glasses. Its plain to see that customer numbers have dropped. Someone needs to sort this place out before its too late.

Food was excellent, and very reasonably priced In fact we were shocked at what it cost for 8 of us - under £60! It was extremely busy for a Thursday night (albeit Easter weekend), so appeared very popular with the locals. Service was quick and efficient, even though they appeared to be very short staffed. Would definitely go there again if in area.

A first visit to the windmill, the food is OK and by no means inspirational. If it doesn't come with peas or carrots it doesn't get served here. But that said it is an ok meal served up by a friendly team. This is not the place to go if you want a meal to be a special occasion but they do their best to make it a welcoming pub. Beer choice is reasonably good and the prices are very very reasonable. I would describe the meals as an OK evening meal when you can't be bothered to cook yourself at a very reasonable price. I wouldn't recommend as somewhere to take someone you need to impress but if you no longer need to impress and are hungry then go for it!

Being brought up very close to the Windmill, and having lived away for 50 years, went with my brother and partners for a small lunch time snack. Should have been suspicious when we went inside. Very quiet on a sunny Easter monday at lunchtime!! Ordered drinks, to be told the two different beers were off due to the brewery rolling the kegs into the cellar! We ordered sandwiches and asked what type of bread was availble, to be told brown granary. Fine we said and were not too bothered about a 20 to 30 minute delay for our food. When it arrived the sandwiches were all on white bread and when we queried it to be told they were out of granary. No apologies or checking whether we minded. Sandwiches were two slices of white bread (no butter)( with a miniscle of grated cheese and one slice of tomato. Being in the hotel trade most of my life I caculated the total cost of ingredients to be about 40 pence. My partner ordered a small salad, but could find very little other than some tired lettuce and a half of sliced tomato. In all my years of dining out I cannot remeber a worst eating experience. The best part were the two bowls of curly chips. As I had already paid the bill before eating and as we all had long journeys home, I decided not to make a sceneThe staff were fine and quite friendly, otherwise I would havefound itdifficult to even give them aone star

Haven’t been here for years but called in on Friday night. We’d looked a recent reviews and some didn’t sound great, but we decided to try it. We didn’t have the set two course offer as they looked abit too basic, but opted for £15ish main courses. Thai chicken curry, sea bass, beef bourgineon, and the pan fried chicken were all decent portion and well presented. Decent quality food. Staff were pleasant enough too. Our only minus was the upholstery which was ripped and had taped repairs. I know management is newish so hopefully repairs are being planned, but this lets the place down. Otherwise decor is nice. We will call again.

My wife and I called in one Saturday afternoon and it was really quiet. After being stood at the bar for 10 minutes without seeing any member of staff I can understand why. We ended up walking out and going somewhere where they wanted our custom, personally I will not think about returning.

Ideal historic venue for breakfast from the traditional Wetherspoon's wide choice. All excellent value, served by friendly and efficient staff. Toilets were spotless, and the whole place is a real asst to the town (as it has been for 110 years).

We celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary here last night and I was very impressed with the service we received. We had a side room to ourselves for 20 people, we all had a main meal, which was brought out quickly and was piping hot and very good. The steak pie was delicious). The staff were friendly and attentive and the whole evening ran smoothly due to this. Thank you to the staff for making it so special.

I have been to Wolseley Garden centre many many times. The restaurant is lovely, food is always nice and the carvery is always excellent. The staff are friendly and professional and the stock is good quality with a large selection..HOWEVER the toilets absolutely reek!!!!! This isn't a one off, I've actively avoided the toilets here for years however I did have to use them today and as soon as I opened the door the pungent stench of stagnant urine punched me in the face and made my eyes water. The staff have tried to cover this up by using numerous Reed diffusers, I have to say, to absolutely no avail. This needs to be rectified wether it's a sewage problem I don't know but they could do with all new toileting facilities desperately. 🤢 I really can't tell you how ill that smell made me feel. I URGE BGS to send a member of head office to this establishment to experience this. I have also emailed an enquiry about this on their website and suggested it is forwarded to head office.
