We went to the bell yesterday for a family lunch. We were sat in the barn which was cold and noisy. The waitress sat us down then didn’t come back so we had to wander back into the bar to ask if we could order drinks. I ordered the cod, which sounded lovely on the menu, instead what arrived was an unattractive plate of cod with what looked like a block of cheese melted on top! It was greasy and absolutely disgusting! No one apologised and no real effort was made to see if I would like anything else. The other meals were average. Service wasn’t great, quite frankly after a 2 hour drive from the midlands to take my Nan out for lunch was a disappointment. I wouldn’t be rushing back.

Had booked a table for 6 people for Saturday 4th March. Had confirmation email when booked as I queried the nenue option for gluten free items. We arrived just before the time our table was booked for only to find the place in darkness. It was closed. When I rang the number the call was immediately cut off. We had to go to sainsbury's for a curry. Not impressed and so disappointed. If this place ever opens again, avoid it.

This was our first visit on a Sunday, my wife wanted to try Sunday lunch. She was not disappointed, the roast beef was cooked to perfection and a splendid offering of fresh vegetables including a delicious cauliflower cheese. I choose the superb goats cheese and walnut salad (delicious) followed by Lasagne which was exceptional particularly the delicious cheese topping. We have become more frequent visitors of late, our food has always been excellent and varied, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the menu is varied creating a problem of, what to have next. A great choice of beers and drinks too.

Sadly underwhelmed for a birthday meal. Prawns in the starter were smothered in eggs and watery. We ordered the steak with salad and fries but after an hour wait were served the fillet of beef in sauce with vegetables. We were asked if we wanted it changed but didn't want to wait another hour. The server was unaware that there was even a steak on the menu. In fairness the bill was amended but it was not the meal we wanted and the evening was somewhat spoiled. We will not be returning sadly.

A lovely traditional pub. Booked ahead & were told the 2 of us could be 'fitted in' but most tables empty while we were there. Good service from young barmaid but landlord didn't acknowledge our arrival even with a look. Sunday roast was huge & hot & delicious, great choice of veg & biggest Yorkshire pud I've ever seen. Spoiled only by the copious gravy being beef flavour for both of us, would have been nicer to have had matching chicken gravy with mine. Very good value, and we came home with a generous doggy bag.
