Sunday lunch - After arrival we asked to order our food as we knew what we wanted, were told to wait as kitchen did order in batches ? After ordering we waited over 45 minutes for a meadocre meal to arrive , good choice of veg small potion of lamb, roast potatoes were not crunchy , they were like the ready prepared ones. Unfortunately we won't be returning!

We booked this hoping for a good, traditional Sunday lunch - clearly, it is popular as it was full which is great. We have been before but not for a number of years. The roasts were good - portion size and variety of vegetables. However, it's disappointing that the roast potatoes are not freshly prepared/cooked ones - obviously frozen. They were quite chewy. Gravy too thin. Meat overcooked. I like the variety of vegetables, though. This is a so-so lunch. We've had worse, yes, for sure, but we were hoping for something more authentic and home-cooked. There are other places we'd go next time, mainly to get a roast lunch that tastes as if all ingredients are freshly prepared in the kitchen. Some mashed potato would be nice rather than just frozen roast potatoes.

Came here for lunch with my husband and two babies on a Friday whilst my car was in for its MOT. The staff were friendly enough, we were given our table with the highchair (as requested on my booking) and enough space next to us for the pushchair as well. The atmosphere was almost non existent; there was only one other table occupied (that I could see) and because the staff weren’t busy, it did kind of feel like we were the entertainment (with the two babies) as our table was in their eye line and there was a little bit of watching! The food was pleasant; we had asked for the gluten free menu which had a few different options. I had the falafel burger and my husband had the fish and chips. I wasn’t a huge fan of my burger, the taste and texture were just not to my preferences. However my husband did enjoy his fish and chips. Although after he ordered, he was asked if he wanted the small or regular portion, to which he ordered the regular but the staff conveniently omitted to say this would be an extra £6 making the meal £16.95 for a regular fish and chips. The fish portion was quite small in our experience so god knows how much smaller the ‘small’ fish is. Overall, the actual establishment needs some updating. The staff are nice enough, and the food was OK but wouldn’t be in a rush to return as felt it was overpriced.

First time to the pub, dropped a mark due to me asking for a coke with no ice & got it with ice, unfortunately I heard the man who took the order saying , ‘ but she asked for ice’ when I clearly hadn’t . Apart from this mishap the staff are lovely, the food is great, very relaxed & we would definitely go back.

Rang up The Old Ham Tree to let them know an elderly couple from the village were coming in to celebrate a 91st birthday. Steph and Sam went above and beyond decorating their table and producing a cake with candles for dessert while staff sang “happy birthday”. Made the birthday boy so happy - and he loved his roast beef Sunday lunch too!

Went for Sunday lunch nice amount of veg, but on a large roast only 1 slice of beef of which the majority was gristle, shame about the gravy thin, watery, tasteless. The so called roast potatoes fried long before we got lunch and were soggy yuk. Very over priced for what meat you get.

I like aromatic curries, my wife likes plainer food; the Old Ham Tree was pleased to satisfy us both! What both our meals had in common was that they were expertly prepared and well served. In addition, we particularly liked the option of smaller portions for both main courses and desserts. It was a truly 5-blob experience.

We were dining there for an anniversary 8 years exactly we lost our dad/husband/grandad. We were inside and asked to move outside.they were very accomodating. Waitress out quick to take drinks then food order. I had scampi and it was very nice .hot ample food and tasty. We also ordered desert i had crumble and custard and so did my husband.the only complaint i had was that his custard was hot and mine was stone cold.because he had large portion and i had small. I took half of his and he took mine. He loves cold custard so didnt bother him. But i hate it. I didnt want to complain because they were great. Only thing.i will complain about is their very small carpark. Otherwise i will go there again

Had Sunday lunch here and had a super time. Choice of two vegetarian "roast options" as well as three vegetarian choices on the main menu. Couldn't choose - rock paper scissors - had the mushroom and lentil loaf. Great vegetable selection and tasty gravey comes with it. Gets a ten. Home made chocolate ice cream to follow. Gets a ten. Service. Gets a ten. Hospitality? Gets a ten. Cleanliness? Gets a ten. And they don't rip you off, which so many places are doing these days.

First visit to this pub. Nice staff. Good menu choices and reasonable prices. Food homemade and well presented. However, although it has at the bottom of the menu card to ask about allergies, be warned that if you have a peanut allergy there was no warning that nuts were in the curry. One of our group did have a reaction so that is how we found out. Most places these days always ask you if anyone has an allergy but here they did not. It is the responsibility of the customer really to ask but please staff get trained up to be more allergy aware. Large chains like Beafeater and Ask Italian always ask customers and they have a folder available for customers to see ingredients of the food that they are wanting to order. Also the menu could have more ingredients written beside each meal option. Another complimentary meal was offered.

Inside of the pub is beautiful, cozy with fairy lights and just really lovely. I appreciate the pub was really busy - inside and outside service and takeaways. We had previously had great meals here which is why we chose this for our first post lockdown treat. But we waited 50 minutes for our starter and another 45 minutes for our main. Starters were nice but the main course my husband ordered was not nice. Gristly steak and not cooked to taste - much of it rare. Such a shame and when raised with staff they said 'write a review'. Here we are then. Won't be returning sadly.

I had the beef burger which was average but still tasty - nothing exceptional but good pub grub! The sides are massive, all 4 of us ordered sides but could have shared between 2. We had been to this place before hence coming back with friends and our dog. Food was good but I think staff member needs to have a little smile on her face - bit of a sense of humour failure but maybe a bit of a busy day. And maybe eye contact with guests when taking orders would be good. I was a bit disappointed that we had to be crammed into the dog eating area when the other restaurant looked exactly the same ie carpet, tables and cutlery and there was no one in from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and we were shoved in with a very rowdy crowd which is what pubs are all about - people having fun. My dog is only small and we could have been put in a quiet corner in the other area. It does says on the website and also when you come into the pub 'dog friendly'. Many other places we ate at around Bath and Bradford upon Avon dogs were allowed wherever in the eating area. Maybe when you think of refurbishing maybe have wood flooring throughout.

The menu was varied and included lots of things that my husband could eat as he always looks for a low fat healthy option meal (most pubs serve everything with chips!). Most of the meals also had a small portion option which was great as the children could order from the main menu. The first visit, I had the Beef and Ale pie and my husband had the Sweet Potato and Falafel parcels which he really enjoyed. The second visit, I had the home made Chilli and my husband had the Spinach, Sweet Potato and Chickpea curry which he said was really tasty - again home made! Traditional pub interior, delicious and very reasonable food. This pub is not trying to be a gastro pub, nor is it fancy by any means - it's just lovely food in a cosy country pub setting. The garden area is really nice too and there's plenty of parking at the rear.

We needed a venue to meet up for a family gathering and the Old Ham Tree looked just the ticket. Some of the party arrived late but it didn't cause any problems with the staff, they just waited for us all to arrive. Service was very good, food was excellent and the bill reasonable. I would recommend this pub to anyone who is looking for a quiet friendly place to have a meal.

This pub food menu has something on it for everybody and the food is tasty and top quality. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The pub is always clean, dog friendly and has a car park at the rear.

after moving to the area decided to pop in for a bite to eat after shopping. Very basic pub menu with a few specials on the board. Opted for the burger which was overcooked and overpriced for what was basically frozen fayre. This is a lovely drinking pub and id only return if the chef changed

We popped in here after seeing other reviews. It was a Saturday at 12.30pm. The pub was quiet and we were a little apprehensive as we sat at a table. The food was not at all fussy and looked a bit basic, however the taste was delicious. Two of us had the beef and ale pie from the specials board and it was very tasty. My daughter had a burger which she really enjoyed. Between us we had 3 starters, 3 mains and 6 drinks and the bill was less than £70. When we left the pub had filled up substantially. Really friendly staff and a car park to the rear. We will definitely be back.

This was our first time here, with friends who had booked it and was also their first time. We were here on a Monday so when we arrived it was pretty quiet.

We try to visit The Old Ham Tree as often as possible. The food is always very good, and excellent value. Tonight they managed to exceed my expectations. I choose the Penang Chicken curry, and can honestly say that even though I frequently eat Thai food I have never enjoyed it more than I did tonight. My husband was more traditional with the fish, chips and mushy peas. He pronounced it excellent and cleared his plate. What could have been better to finish of my meal than homemade mango Icecream, where can you go that makes it's own Icecream. They do here! Must come back even more often.

We had been looking for a nice family local pub with a good menu and affordable prices for a while and came across this lovely place. There is a great selection of food, very friendly staff and a nice local pub atmosphere! Just what we wanted. They seemed to have worked hard on trying to fit in price wise with all the new chain restaurant deals by offering taste card deals (even on weekends) and a loyalty card. Two things we made use of.The place was full every Saturday we went which is also a great way of telling how good it was. Will be returning again

We love calling in here when visiting Laycock. Super home-made baked goods. And a nice pot of tea if eating in.

Nice enough room but no one turned up for breakfast. Waited for an hour in empty pub, gave up and left.
