Excellent country pub with friendly staff and wonderful food and drink. Specials available each week which complements their standard menu. Desserts are fabulous especially the variations on the cheesecake. Definitely worth a visit!

Returned here for first time for many years since when the pub management has changed hands several times. Now very friendly Romanian couple are running it and have re-introduced the Sunday quiz. From Canada, visiting friends in the UK, and came across this quaint restaurant after being out for a long walk with the dog. Food was excellent, all freshly prepared, and great friendly service. I had the hummus and falafel, my friend had the shrimp, and the guys had baguette sandwiches which were fresh and crisp. The restaurant is recently under new ownership and Mihai, the manager/co-0wner is super friendly, made us all feel very welcome including the dog who sat quietly under the table the entire time. He was given treats as we were leaving! If I lived there, it would definitely become my new favourite. They also own The Winterbourne in Swindon. Would definitely return and I highly recommend.

Portion size was generous and the menu choice great. The food was tasty and we cleared our plates. Good drink selection too. The salmon was sublime and the creamy mushrooms to start were a hit. The Crown & Anchor is a local pub in Marlborough offering exceptionally good food at reasonable prices. They offer a fixed menu plus specials to choose from. The portions are very generous and they cater for kids to. Desserts are to die for! I’m told there will be a cocktail menu coming soon, so I’m looking forward to sampling them over the summer months. If you haven’t visited the pub yet, don’t miss out, book your table and help support a local business run by friendly staff.

Glad to be the first to review our local under new management. We have had two evening meals and the pub has been buzzing over the weekend. New management been in for two weeks and the food is transformed. They are very busy as you would expect. The last meal we had here was in November so the locals are keen to see the new faces. Although the room was very large and the bathroom was the same. The bed was comfortable enough the breakfast was pretty pathetic. A supposed "continental breakfast" consisted of about 8 croissants without butter or jams, 1 small bottle of orange juice and the same in apple. 4 individual cereal boxes, tea/coffee, all served in a picnic hamper. No cheese or ham as there should be in a Continental Breakfast. Very disappointing.

My family who are all very local to the village dating back to 1900 held my grandmothers wake in the crown & anchor. When we arrived after the funeral the owner made a snotty comment that we were earlier than he thought. I didn't release funerals had a set time! And then when we started to unwrap the food (that we had obviously paid for in advance and as it was now 1:30pm we were all hungry) the owner then made a vicious and unnecessary comment of "here come the locusts" Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a landlord at a wake.WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND A FUNCTION HERE UNTIL THE CURRENT OWNERS SELL UP.

We had not planned to visit a pub on a recent visit to Ramsbury but circumstances dictated a wait while the Post Office re-opened. So we found ourselves in the cosy and welcoming Crown & Anchor. It immediately reminded me of the short of pub that I'd frequented when growing up. Friendly, good beer and plenty of chat. We chose a tapas style sharing platter of four dishes which was excellent, washed down with real (and I mean REAL) ale. It's the sort of pub I could sit in all afternoon and get involved in the village gossip and I bet they do a great roast beef sandwich or a real ploughman's. We intend to return and find out.

Having read recent reviews I was looking forward tp having lunch at the Crown and Anchor. Sadly I as were the rest of our party disappointed in varying degrees. On the specials board was Lamb or Pork I opted for the Pork with vegetables and mash asked for roast potatoes which didn’t have any crunch when they arrived! The pork was was tough and not freshly carved. The burger was a success but the triple cooked chips were not fresh either, a seafood and fish platter didn't impress, the fish looked overdone and the other bits of seafood were just more batter than content.Maybe Saturday was not the right day to go but also we were the only people eating!Good beer. Called in for lunch and have to say it was very worthwhile. Although a Monday, there were a few "locals" who welcomed you with a smile and a very friendly attentive barman called Peter. A very attractive pub inside with open fires and great local beer. I met the landlord/owner and discovered that the beer I had tried had actually been "invented" by him when he owned a local brewery, before he moved on in his entrepreneurial empire to buy The Crown and Anchor. He deserves to do well and is trying lots of different avenues to entice the "punters" in. Curry night, fish night, pie night, 2 for one, live music and believe it or not vintage car and bike shows in the large car park . He did not seem to mind having a chat and it helped made the time whizz by so very quickly. Now to the foodie bit! The menu is not large but offers a good choice that seems to cover what good "pub food" is all about. You can check the menu on line. Prices are really reasonable and I noticed that there was an offer of two for one on the lunch prices. The food was well cooked and the "thrice" cooked chips were delicious, but probably very sinful (Just loosen the belt)!!! Will definitely go back for I want to try their fish and chips. It is a shame that we do not live in Ramsbury for it would certainly be my local. Good food, good pricing, good venue, good mine host, not really much more to say. I guess on a busy music night it would be five stars for atmosphere, but Monday lunch time is not a fair representation and I try to offer a fair review. Thank you Crown and Anchor.

Good food, good service, great location & a landlord with a smile on his face as warm as the open fires in the bar. Under new management for the past 11 months doing a great job. Look out for all the quirky objects in the ceiling of the bar & give one of the 2 beers a try, made to the landlords receipe when he owned the brewery. If you like proper pubs you will love this one.

We were in the area and followed a brown tourist sign to another pub... Which was closed. We then followed the road to Ramsbury and the bell and crown... Too pricey and too full but we did see a sign for the crown and anchor - what a pub! As others have said the decor is a little faded, however the atmosphere is excellent and the space light and clean. Redecoration is in progress but there was nothing to detract from the overall good 'feel' A warm welcome from the landlady and we had a look at the mercifully short menu. I chose fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce... My partner took the Turkey special. I won. The fish was perfectly cooked in a light crisp beer batter, the 'thrice cooked' chips were excellent and the mushy peas the best I have had outside of Yorkshire. The turkey was reasonable; the only slight downside being overcooked carrots... However the cabbage was perfect and the honey roast parsnips better than mine (/me reduces partner's food allowance for that sleight!)Two meals and two drinks for just shy of £25 was a bargain... We would visit again but a 220 mile round trip is a bit difficult to justify.

Had a lovely Sunday roast here yesterday. Roast beef, four freshly cooked veg, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud all cooked by the landlord. Pub has a cosy olde feel about it. Went a few weeks ago on a Groupon and had lovely fish and chips, enjoyed it so went back..

As you enter the quaint little pub, it does appear a little run down but once you are sat around the lovely open fire you realise what a beautiful setting the bar area is. We bought a groupon deal which gave us 2 x two course meals for £14. We both went with the fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding. The food was stunning, so fresh and tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's has a wonderful country feel to it and plenty of parking. Will defiantly be going back.

This is a lovely country village pub. Four of us came for lunch on an offer of a starter and main course and they willingly switched from having a starter to a pudding.Good food, well presented and good friendly service. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Here for a family re-union - this is a great little village pub that serves a range of local beers and well-cooked pub food, based on quality ingredients. A relaxed and friendly ambience and plenty of local trade - always a good sign. Well worth a visit, we'll use again the next time we are in the area.

This eaterie snuggles in the picturesque Wiltshire village of Ramsbury. It is a quintessential English Pub that offers a very good bar with varied real ales and wines and a wholesome menu with everything cooked to order. Our accommodation was very comfortable, with a spacious room and a large wet room and toilet. They have a large car park and garden, with a bar-b-q facility as well. The Crown & Anchor is also pet friendly !!!!We were greeted by a larger than life landlord who was very welcoming and we also met some very nice locals who, gave us some very good info of local walks. Our visit took place in the mid week, but had it been at the week end, we were advised to book the Sunday lunch, as it is very popular. All in all, a very comfy and reasonably priced visit..

Welcoming, warm and cosy, The Crown and Anchor is a very solid, all round pub. They serve well-kept local beer for a start. The excellent Ramsbury brewery beers dominated but they also had Three Castles beer on when I was last there. The food is unfussy but very good. My baguette was warm and crisp with plenty of filling and a worthwhile bit of salad and some good crisps. Service is friendly and efficient. The landlady was kind enough to let us use the car park as we were walking before lunch. I would recommend this pub with no reservations whatsoever.

Excellent food and good service. The Restaurant area is a little uninspiring but apparently there are other areas you can eat. Good service although the staff appeared to be under pressure We would thoroughly recommend!

Nice enough room but no one turned up for breakfast. Waited for an hour in empty pub, gave up and left.
