Vegan breakfast £2.69!! Excellent value and super fast service.

Nice pub. Pleasantly surprised how big it is.

First visit to The Silk Mercer was a very insightful one. The rugby was on at the front of the pub so we decided to sit near the back, which is very much a huge children's area! You have been warned! Children seemed to be everywhere, running amok with no parents in control. The staff patiently served around all this chaos, including what seemed like some sort of wipeout course for them avoiding children's books, colouring pads and pencils thrown carelessly on the floor and children on scooters, on the stairs and high chairs randomly left in the middle of walk ways! So, this is where we sat... But thankfully, given Witherspoon's infamous quick service, our food and drinks arrived swiftly. The vegan burger was a little dry (but a lot of vegan food is to be fair), however the garlic based sauce made the burger. The burrito salad was really, really good avd and I would definitely recommend it! Would I visit again? Probably, but I will definitely avoid the hell which is the back area!

Atmosphere wasn’t great but it was risen by the absolute worldly I was with. Rather intimidated by the drink drivers, they were only getting encouraged by the bar man who was very clearly aware that they were leaving via motor vehicle. Helmets on tables. Almost put off by the local yobs, who I was wrong about, till I saw them from the waist down. Chips were EPIC. Fresh sauces. Big up chef Mike.

Ordered gammon and eggs, they had no eggs. I asked if I could have garlic bread in lieu but was refused. I didn’t think this was a massive ask. Two of my dining companions had mixed grills without eggs too. This branch of Wetherspoons needs to get its act together regards stock ordering and placate reasonable customer requests.

Have been having breakfast here regularly. Very reasonable price, however breakfast itself is hit n miss. Every time I order I ask for the baked beans to be served hot as nothing worse than cold beans. Yet again today I had to send the food back as the beans were stone cold.....come on cooking staff how hard is it to serve hot food!! It has not only been breakfast we have had issues with, on a curry night we had onion bhaji's that were frozen in the middle. Appreciate that you get what you pay for, but just not acceptable for food to be served cold or worse frozen. No issues with the staff that serve they have always been polite.

Fairly standard spoons but in a nice bit of town

One of the better Spoons I've been to. At least this one isn't full of scruffy alcoholics and druggies. I had a large breakfast prior to going to Swindon beer festival and it was huge, well cooked and tasty and if I recall, £5.99. The cask beer here has come on in leaps and bounds to the extent that it's in the current Good Beer Guide, most beers are £2.00 - £2.50 per pint and you can use your CAMRA vouchers to get 50p a pint off those prices. Usually 6 or 7 beers on. Toilets are clean and tidy.

The member of staff that brought our food over clearly didn't want to be there! When ordering I asked for sunflower spread not butter due to dietary requirements and the dish came out with butter still so I politely asked for it to be changed and she actually huffed at me and walked off with the butter while I was still talking to her. She then came back with the sunflower spread and chucked it onto the table before walking off again. My friend was so disgusted she made a complaint to the manager who did then have a word with the staff member but we received no apology. The food was mediocre at best but you get what you pay for and for under a fiver I did get an edible meal. I do try to avoid eating at weather spoons if I can simply because the food isn't great and now I'm even less likely to eat in one if the staff can't even be polite.

I was told not to expect too much, I got even less than I expected. The poppadoms were literally swimming in oil and very stupidly placed on top of the nan bread, so I couldn't eat that either. The curry was akin to what I would expect from supermarket canned curry. All in all, it was cheap, but not very cheerful!!

I use Wetherspoon's quite a bit. The Silk Mercer was a very pleasant experience. Really good upkeep. Service was exemplary. Fortunately it was quiet so conversation was easier.

Service was a bit slow as I ordered from the table, but my drink came and food came shortly after, tables are cleared quickly after finishing meals leaving the restaurant very tidy. Quick and friendly staff, great food for a great price

Open late, cheap food and great deals on drinks. It’s a little run down but the service is fast and friendly. Honestly it’s a pretty great spoons.

I haven't been here for 3 years, thought I would try again last week & went for a breakfast, hoping things had improved . Sadly not! Breakfast still cold, snotty eggs put me off completely, still full of drinkers at 9 in the morning!! Children screaming & allowed to run around while doing it, parents oblivious, staff don't seem to be bothered by this at all !! Carpets still sticky, padding in seats long gone, tables sticky with food & drink. Same waitress, who is the only thing I would praise in here, service with a smile, professional & courteous. Could fix these things easily, let's hope they do eventually!!

Went here as an unplanned visit before we visited John Lawsons circus, had something to eat food was very nice, fantastic staff friendly n polite, very clean, the the tables were wiped down shortly after the customers had left. Excellent value as a wetherspoons are highly recommend

Friday May 31st - I believe they had an unannounced visit from the Cask Marque assessment association. Aim of the C.M. is to conduct an inspection visit every 6mths. As a regular real ale and cider drinker at the Mercer, a)it doesn't surprise me that they passed with flying colours, b) this result may encourage others to believe inside the quality of their real ale beers, and, their wonderful ciders. Congratulations to Sam and her team.

Nice little Spoons. Far better than my local one in Salisbury.

It's a Wetherspoons they are mostly the same. It's the staff that make them memorable.

It's a Wetherspoons...was decent enough until some noisy kids came in 😅 Food is typical of Wetherspoons, I hadn't visited one for maybe 10 years. Memories came flooding back, most not positive 😅 Don't come here for quality food, come here to line your stomach and cheap drinks...

A good solid Weatherspoons. Food is good and with a solid portion size. Service is friendly.

Overall, a good experience and the food was good too! A huge improvement over previous years. The staff were friendly and everything was served in a timely manner. Maybe just a little more friendly chat would have brought it up another star. Beautiful building with lots of history told from the pictures on the walls too!

Not a place to eat last time I had dinner the chicken was not cooked frozen in the middle. I take a chance on the 🍺

If you want reasonable priced drinks this is the place to come. The food is ok for the price, in fact lately it has been very good and most times quite hot when delivered to the table. The toilets are upstairs with an accessible toilet on the ground floor. There is a small courtyard at the back of the building. You are a stone's throw from the market square and shops.

TERRIBLE FOOD MIXED GRILL Every meat was dry tasteless overcooked and flavourless except the sausage I P really thought they found my old boots and cooked them. The baked potato peas tom and mushroom were well cooked and tasty

Nice enough multi roomed Wetherspoons, interior nice and well kept so much so I thought it had a recent refurb (customers told me not the case). Couple of decent Stonehenge guest ales on day of my visit, all ok. Service quick and polite. Previously a drapers premises according to the framed pics on the wall. Not sure on the exterior colouring always think Wetherspoons suits a nice dark blue colour, the red just reminds of High Plains Drifter 🤣. This pub should be included on your drinking visit to Devizes ... Cheers, Matty

What's not to like, especially on a quiet Sunday morning for breakfast. Great value for money.

It's a nice building with cosy decor and cheap and cheerful food and drinks . We went on a Monday evening and it was medium busy , some customers in there were a bit worse for wear and might have been off putting for the feint hearted - but didn't put me off my chips and deep fried curry 😋. Oh I think everyone knows there is no dogs allowed in any weatherspoons (good job too as that WOULD be carnage 😬).

Popped in like we always do when we visit family in devizes, I ordered a classic 8oz sirloin steak with chips medium rare, when it came out it certainly wasn't cooked medium rare it was more like well done. The top was all burnt and it was very tough to cut.

Very loud, but the service was good and being a Wetherspoons, it does what it says on the tin. Much better value for money than anywhere else we went!

It’s a spoons, it serves a purpose. It was a very very busy Saturday night. We ordered drinks on the app as couldn’t get to the bar. The drinks came surprisingly quickly considering the amount of people on the premises. The staff were calm and friendly. Lots of very drunk people, the staff handled it well.

Quite a nice pub in st Ives cambridgeshire , gets busy but drinks are a very good Cost cheaper then rival the regal in Cambridge, haven't really had food there but I guess similar to other Witherspoon's

Really enjoyed my meal here the other night! They were very busy but the atmosphere was still nice. I sat next to the fire and it was lovely after being out in the cold. My soup was delicious and well worth the wait. The guys behind the bar were very friendly and helpful.

Medium sized Spoons in center of town. Set on multiple levels with access ramps for wheelchairs. Outdoor seating area to rear. Usual range of food and drinks available. Public car park across road.

Popped in today for fish and chips, and it was superb! Abbot always was awesome 👌 grandkids loved their ham egg and Chips. The place was packed, must be doing it right. Well done guys.

A very good example of a Wetherspoons pub and how they should be. Food was the much better end of good (it’s cheap and cheerful, so can’t expect gourmet!) and came out really quickly. Servers all polite. Clean and well presented pub, would definitely go back.

Dropped in with the grandkids for breakfast on our way home from a week spent locally. Found a vacant booth in the downstairs seating area and service was quick both with ordering at the bar and food arriving at our table. Everything was cooked fine and as you would expect, prices very reasonable. Toilets are upstairs and the large gents room was clean. Bit annoying to find one woman customer wearing what looked like painting overalls hogging the hot drinks station and stuffing their pockets with coffee sachets and tea bags etc - why?! There are time restricted parking spaces close by if you’re lucky or pay and display.

Great Wetherspoons, as are most of them, this one has a little more character than some I've been to. Same great value, nice selection of local ales and decent food!

No complaints at all! Food always arrives hot and tastes delicious and service is always great. Asked for a appletiser but they didn’t have one so was substituted for a lemonade with apple juice, tasted brill. Will always come to Spoons from now on!

quiet pub-like spoons, average experience. food was above average spoons quality - came quick and and not too cold. although, we asked for a tea spoon for a child and apparently they have none - she ended up eating ice cream with a straw

Part of the JD Wetherspoons chain, an old pub in the centre of Devizes. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. It's the standard fare of a Wetherspoons. I had the breakfast and unlimited coffee, which is a bargain. Breakfast is very good. I think the best of any chain. App ordering makes things simple. There are also plugs for charging phones or I guess laptops.

We did not stop for food just drinks we enjoyed the time we spent there

Quite mucky, sticky tables. Food as expected at a Wetherspoons so not disappointed but venue not great. Kids running about unsupervised

Went here to stodge up after a day of cycling. Absolutely got what we wanted. Incredibly quickly served hearty food and drinks in a clean and welcoming pub, for less than £20 for the both of us. Will go again when stopping in Devizes on cycling adventures.
