Painfully slow counter service. My Mum and I ventured back after a long absence to be greeted by the reassuringly familiar painfully long wait to be served. Its hilarious really, one poor harassed guy taking orders, taking payments, making hot drinks and putting things in the microwave, whilst at the same time I counted 3 different ladies cleaning tables, bringing out hot food..PLEASE PLEASE..one of you go and help the poor guy behind the counter, table clearing can wait surely! Get a grip management.

Always so slow in here..even when only few people . Most tables still have dirty crocks or not been wiped down. Verandah hardly ever available when we go in .. Not what one would expect from Sainsburys standards

Good morning. I have regularly purchased my bacon and egg breakfast at Sainsburys cafe at Penzance Cornwall. ( and patronised the rest of the store afterwards). The staff tell me now that Bacon and egg is no longer on the menu at Sainsburys!!!! This is crazy. You've just lost a previously loyal customer. As from tomorrow I shall be buying my daily breakfast of bacon and egg from Morrissons cafe. Please let me know if common sense returns at Sainsburys. Thank you. Charlie.

Well what a great lunch...turkey and all the trimmings with a view of the sea. Really great value. Such a nice atmosphere too.

Lovely spot, cracking vista. Unfortunately the coffee machine broke down and the whole world seems to have ended. No hot drinks available at all. All I wanted was a black coffee… Surely, given that the cafe is part of a huge supermarket, they can get a jar of Nescafé and make a brew? But Noooo!! Comfy chairs, huge dining area. Nice glass of water…

I visited today 30 January, 8. 20 am for breakfast. The young people there told me they were " waiting for the till to load" and went on gossiping to each other. But surly they could have served my breakfast without the till? They didn't offer me a cup of tea or anything while I waited . In the end I said I was leaving and one replied. " alright darling". So rude, no respect for their customer. They need some serious training in customer relations. I left and had a very nice breakfast at morrissons, served by a very polite young man.

Staff unorganised only one serving creating a long line for the cafe. Food options limited considering the time of day. Not expensive but still food quality not great all things considered. I'll not be going back again.

First of all we asked for a all day breakfast and was told that it was not available. We ordered ham, egg and chips. Ham was ok. Eggs had shells in them and wasn't cooked properly. The chips was cold and had been reheated more than once. The person bringing out the food didn't seem to know which order was going to which table and she was very slow. Not what you expect when you pay over £25. What a waste of money. I have been before and the last time l ended up with very bad food poisoning. People be aware. I will not be eating here again

The fish was terrible need a drill to get through batter the chips still had skin on them and tastes arable the lasagne was burnt the ham egg and chips was terrible could not be eaten the fish fingers were to hard for child all in all will never eat their again waste of money

How could we even come up with the idea of ​​going here... It's like being in a train station. The offer is manageable. After paying, we waited for our coffee while the waitress chatted with her colleague. Strange concept.

Fantastic place to go for a meal and a drink

I only ordered the soup. After half an hour, it still hadn’t appeared. I have been assured it is coming but it has now been 40 minutes. It had better be delicious soup.

Food was great, service at the till was very slow.

Stopped for breakfast. Sat and ate looking over the bay.

Breakfast come out cold and there was only 6 people in the cafe the only bit that was nice was the brown wholemeal bread that was lovely

Nice clean area with toilets handy. Comfortable chairs , food nice and not expensive . They have a good raised veranda with tables for eating with views over mounts bay . Detracted one star as veranda doors locked with no notice of reason and today the cafe area is very humid and hot. Previous visits have allowed sitting on veranda.

Food served was lovely and hot as we had quite a variety of dishes.Only problem was no menus are provided by card or leaflet for easy reading; they are displayed on boards on the wall behind the counters,but if you are short sighted some dificulty in reading

Really good cheap food on the go without being so horrifically unhealthy as some of the other choices! Penzance store boasts a particularly fine view over Mount's Bay.

Ok for a budget meal, surprised they dint showcase their better ranges with higher quality ingredients

Service was terrible took over 50mins for the food to be served.overpriced. my table was filthy and when asked if it could be cleaned my request was ignored.

Lovely friendly overworked staff. Food is always Good, but the place is let down by having to often wait for 20 minutes to be served. NOT the staff's fault as there are rarely enough of them on.

I was pained to feel compelled to write a terrible review of this cafe back in June after several visits with unacceptable standards of hygiene. Within the past month I decided to give the place a second chance as it is such a lovely, open space with magnificent sea views. And I was pleased to see none of the unsanitary conditions I had seen on multiple previous occasions. Everything was satisfactory. No filthy trays on the tables, no debris on the floor, most tables wiped down clean, tray stacks empty of dirty dishes, etc. To be sure it wasn't a fluke, I went back again a few days later. Same pleasant conditions. Everything was clean, tidy, and appealing. And now, a few weeks later, I find myself looking forward to going there almost every day to read and relax with a pot of tea. Hats off to Sainsbury's management who stepped up and took necessary action! :)

This place is great for a light meeting with colleges and a splendid coffee with some good food on offer also. Customer service is great. Well done

Went to this cafe where I go most Saturdays for my lunch. Usually there is 5 of us, we are all friends from church. 3of them get there shopping before we meet, we meet about 12.The cafe is very popular and usually busy. I had jacket potato with Coronation chicken. Its always very nice, sometimes it's not always hot, but today was good. Another of our group had lasagne, which she said was good, someone else had sausage and mash, that was very good, 3 sausages plenty of mash potato and peas and gravy. Someone else had jacket potato with Tuna and sweetcorn, I sometimes have that. My jacket potato was £3-75,i had a mug of tea also it came to £5-05.They have plenty of choice, you can have fish cake with new potatoes plus side salad.Also another choice is Salmon, new potatoes, side salad. Which I have had also. There is other choices also but not tried. Well recommend this for lunch.

Not the best selection of sandwiches plus to get served it took quite a while. Lovely lady serving and very helpful but crushed off her feet. Think this was very unfare on her but she gave customer service to the max. The cheese ham and pickle wasn't great very dry but the coffee was lovely

This restaurant is spacious, clean and has lovely sea views; however I began to lose the will to live after waiting at the service counter for over 15 minutes just to order tea/coffee and a sandwich.

Particularly slow service today. Not enough staff on. Food was only luke warm. The few staff were doing their best but could not deal with the volume of customers

Tables uncleared despite being fairly quiet and coffee strong so grateful for half pint of hot milk in a teapot!

Our family visited this well-situated Café for lunch while we were on Summer holiday in Cornwall. The meals were tasty, and the Staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. Highly Recommended.

The food served from the cafe at Sainsbury, Castlepoint needs attention. Little flavour and microwaved cooked. I can do that at home for free!

This place is so boring you would have to go somewhere else to cheer yourself up after you have been there.

Had a lovely fresh milkshake made today and brilliant customer service from a lady called Anne. She's a credit to the team.

Cannot say it was dirty like other reviewers. First review from Artry so I take it with a pince of salt. Food OK but not as good as Sainbury's Truro. Plenty of free parking, better than going into the town centre.

I'm writing this after multiple visits over the past year to say that the hygiene in this restaurant is unacceptable and probably in violation of local health ordinances. I have never yet set foot in the place when there were not multiple empty tables, loaded with filthy trays. I counted eight this afternoon when I was there. The very few available tables free of previous customers' waste are, without exception, filthy. They seem do not to bother to wash down the tables or use any kind of cleaning agents between customers. The floors are perpetually filthy as well, covered with debris and food remains of previous customers. I sat down today to drink my small cup coffee and could not wait to leave because of the signs of dubious hygiene all around me. I have to say that it appears to be a chronic problem as it has been this way every time I have set foot in the place in the past year, at many different times of day. This time I resolved, finally, to complain about it.

Tasty food that feels like homemade. Cafeteria setting. Good price. Moderate selection of savory and sweets.

Stopped for quick sandwich and coffee that was perfectly pleasant as were the staff it was when I went to take a seat that I the full horror of this manky cafe reared it’s ugly head

We visited here this afternoon. To start with, the counter was messy ( that’s putting it mildly) & untidy. Even the unused small plates were spattered with croissant flakes!

Surely the best supermarket restaurant anywhere as customers can enjoy refreshments and the views over Mounts Bay and St Michael's Mount.

We regularly hear the complaint about holiday makers and emmets invasion. But given the County relies on Tourism its incumbent on service providers to do that .....provide service. This cafe/store has free parking which is rare. It has spectacular coastal views what it lacks is staff who can move above a glacial pace. COME ON SAINSBURY'S either re train the ones you've got or re-staff with employees who dont carry one plate at a time, walk past dirty tables and generally employ every recalcitrant tactic to avoid work known to man. Appalling

We came in at 3pm on the Saturday before Easter.

Absolutely best for position to sit and look out to St.Michaels Mount.A real treat. My sis(who lives there ) and I both had Gammon egg and chips.Fab meal.🤗🤗

Called in for a coffee to sit and admire the view from the first floor Cafe. Tempted to a chocolate eclair very messy but worth it.

The cafe has a very beautiful view of beach, place to enjoy food, tea coffe with family.

Penzance Sainsbury’s cafe must have one of the very best views in the whole of England, overlooking the railway line, Mounts Bay, and the unique St Michael’s Mount. It is fun watching the trains of varying lengths trundle by, people and their dogs gambolling on the beach, various types of surfers strutting their stuff.

Nice and simple food. Inexpensive and child friendly. The cafe is on the first floor and overlooks Penzance, near the shore line. Overall very happy

The first floor café appeared to have a balcony, but even inside, the floor to ceiling windows allow a fine view of the sea & St Michael's Mount.

Visit regularly when we feel like a breakfast out, but recently, so disappointed. "Snotty" unbasted egg, cardboard bacon, sausages still pink and burnt toast. So sad. Waste of money.

Went in for a bacon and scrambled egg roll. Paid with a great happy lad who was really friendly. Waited about 15 minutes for a girl to come out of the kitchen to ask me ‘did I actually want any scrambled egg or fried’. I responded ‘ if I wanted fried I would of ordered fried wouldn’t i’. Then waited another 15 minutes and still nothing! Never ever going here again and will tell everyone I know not to go here. TERRIBLE SERVICE FROM KITCHEN STAFF!!!!! DISGUSTING!!

I know it sounds ridiculous but we really like it here. Great view of St Micael’s Mount and dependable, cheap and varied food served by pleasant staff. I always have the vegetable chilli jacket potato and it’s pretty good!

Went to Newbury Sainsbury's cafe on sat,we got there no real coffee beans, not many cakes,the staff were useless,no help at all .the air con was on full blast not good.but the worst was a member of staff cleaning tables with a cloth, she dropped the cloth,then picked it it up and started to clean the tables.very dangerous.

The view was stunning we sat outside for breakfast and had a cream tea. Food was good. Price standard. Clean tidy. Staff very friendly and helpful. The cream tea was lovely. Plenty of choices. Plenty of seating inside and out.

We had a very nice lunch here, Salisbury's fish & chips great, Gammon & chips also very good and a cheese bab [pacini or something like that] also fine However the person who had the cheese and then later a cream slice from the store suffered from stomach problems later having had nothing else. The rest of us were fine. makes you wonder

Called in for a bite to eat and could not complain about the price or quality of the food although I did feel that the portion size of the chips with the fish and chips was a bit meagre but I suppose at that price (£5.50) you shouldn't complain. My one real moan is that both of us walk with crutches and no member of staff even offered to help carry our tray to the table. Little things like that would really help.

Situated on the old helicopter site, next to main road, railway, but don’t let that put you off. Better than any m/way stop off for a re-fresh with a view to die for.

Called into the cafe just for a cup of tea with my wife, whilst there, one of the servers walked past with fish and chips for one of the customers. It looked so good we decided we would have some as well. We were not disappointed, good sized portion and nice and hot. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful. Great views over the bay from the cafe, wether you sit inside or outside you get a great view.

We went for the first time a few weeks ago. I had cheese jacket potato and my husband cheese omelette, both were excellent and had 2 good hot chocolats to go with our meals. All very good and served by helpful, friendly staff.

The cafe used to be very clean, welcoming and relaxing. The last few visits really have been disappointing. Not sure if this is to do with staffing levels or just general bad management in the place. The food is chucked onto the plates with no real care of presentation. It just shows a total lack of pride or care.

This was the worst visit we have had here. The drinks were okay but the sitting area had not been cleaned for a long time. There was empties all over the tables and chairs. The clearing racks that you can place your finished tray were full. The whole pace was disgusting and I had to wipe a table before we could sit down. There were no staff walking around and this is the second time in a week that we visited and the same state both times. I must say that the staff did wear their hats today as they didn’t last week.

Cafe was filthy, the place stank, not a clean table in sight, rubbish all over the floors, milk splat up chairs, condiment pot was covered in sauce, fries undercooked. I took my tray back to the gentleman behind the counter and Just let him know nicely about the issues (previously working in catering i understand these things can happen) to which i was rudely told "all you had to do was ask someone to clean the table for you, give me your receipt". The place really was vile.

Down for a week's holiday, called in for a bite to eat, had a soup and a fish and chips, both of which were very good, was busy, as it was lunch time, but the service was very good, the food came with in 10 mins

Dropped in for a late lunch around 15.00. Approached the counter, after a couple of minutes waiting an argument kicked off as to who was going to serve us! Not a smile came from the the tattooed young man who eventually took our order. We ordered paninis, we then loaned an electronic device that we were told would flash and vibrate to tell us that we could collect the paninis, what wonderful personal service. Eventually after about 10 minutes waiting whilst the chap served several more people the said device did it's job. Collected the paninis, again no smile such a charming affable guy, great! The paninis we chose were brie and cranberry, a more accurate description would be a little brie and cranberry colouring. A total disappointment. Fortunately there is a wonderful view over Mounts Bay. Needless to say we won't be visiting this cafe again. Shame on the management team at the cafe.

We eat a Sainsbury's nearly every week. The new veggie breakfast is not one I'll be having again.... ment to have scrambled eggs came with 2 under fried eggs. So mush fluid on my plate!!!!!! HORRIBLE. My son had his favourite of mac n cheese with garlic bread and salad.... the new menu is just a small bowl of mac n cheese, VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Having just arrived and waiting to get into our self catering accommodation, my husband and I stopped at Sainsbury's for a quick lunch. My macaroni cheese was delicious and far better than i expected from a busy superstore cafe. Only drawback was the big queue but it was a Saturday.

I had lunch in the cafe at Sainsbury's in Penzance during October. I had the hot beef baguette, chips and a bottled drink for a price of about £6. The food was delivered to the table within 5 minutes of ordering it, despite the cafe...

Food required no longer provided no alternative offered no apology in fact the only thing we did receive was poor customer service from a rude male colleague. No clean utensils I had to use a dessert spoon for my tea only given half a pot of milk for a pot of tea when I asked for a little bit more you would have thought I had asked the man to nip home and get some of his personal milk.

The only reason to visit is the most amazing bacon sandwich!

Busy lunch period 1 person on till and 1 person making drinks. Asked for 2 slices of bread and 2 rashers of bacon so I could make a sandwich refused to serve it as they don't do bacon sandwiches after 11.30, didn't see the problem as I was going to put it together myself and they sell slices of bread separately. Any other sainsburys Cafe I've visited has done it at the end of the day they are still making a sale.

Went in for breakfast, the service was amazing. So helpful, and friendly. Cooked the eggs the way my wife loves. Breakfast decent, coffees great. My wife loved their caramel latte.

5 adults and 4 children served with a smile. £4 odd for a full english, cooked fresh and there's even a balcony to eat outside on a hot day.

Great to sit outside overlooking the bay on the balcony on a warm day. My bottle of coke seemed a bit pricey considering what I could buy it for downstairs in the store, but the mushroom and (spinach - I think it was) open top pie with mash and pees was very tasty.

Called in for breakfast before going home after a great holiday with the family, I think the breakfast was £ 4.00 "I didn't pay " full English, hot , tasty, delivered to your table, staff very friendly and helpful, very good service, recommended,

To lasagnas and two children's meals plus a tea and a coffee for under £20 is excellent value add to that the helpful friendly staff and lovely presentation of the lasagna is a winner every time.
