The Bluff Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Great family pub owned by Haven. Stunning sea views looking over to St Ives. Huge carpark which is pay and display and free if you are staying in the caravan site. Huge beer garden with lots of seating loads to choose from on the menu and kids eat for only £1 off the kids menu. Sport is regularly played so attracts a diverse amount of people unfortunately this place is closed during the winter inline with the caravan site opening dates. Carpark is still available to use throughout the year.

Been coming to the Towans for 54 years, which always means a visit or two to the bluff. Staff helpful, food good, views amazing and dog friendly too. What's not to like?

Came here to watch football with the other half . The staff were so friendly and helpful. I recommend the Oceana Coldana cocktail such a beautiful drink, so beautiful I had two 😋.

Had several meals here. Basic food, not too expensive. And the views of the bay are incredible. From watching the surfers and seals we had a great time and were never rushed.

Had a excellent evening here...we all enjoyed our food..me and my father had a mix grill which we both loved! My mum had a hunters chicken which again was great...cant fault this place and has a amazong view

Pleasant staff,great location, prices are not the best as the food was no better than wetherspoon food and they charge half the price.

Food and drink are average and the views are fantastic overlooking the beach and sea make this place.

Great staff, very friendly. Good selection of local ales and ciders, but they have the main stream stuff if that floats your boat. I was disappointed by the food. I had gammon and chips. The chips were terrible, soft and might need an oil change. The gammon was OK, the fried egg spot on. My wife had the hunters chicken. She said the chicken was chewy and the bottom of the plate was covered in BBQ sauce. Lots of water bowls for dogs. But if you just want a drink with a fantastic view of St Ives bay, you can't do better.

Really good food and lovely staff who provide jokes and reach arounds. My dog was super surprised but he did ok licking up the mess.

Staff here need a kick up the backside very poor service regarding food as you enter the building all you can smell is burnt fat so would not eat here but as an excellent publican I could have done a lot better and would expect staff to be on the Ball regarding service

As someone with many allegies I must thank the staff at Buff Inn for checking that the food was safe for me - especially Chaira - I hope I spelt your name right. The Sunday Roast we had was absolutely lovely. This is a place I can highly recommend and we have eaten here several times because the food and the view is amazing. All the staff have been lovely and gave great service. We will definitely come again when we are in the area.

Although quite a small are for meals compared to other haven sites..it was very nice and food was good and dom was a brilliant host who was jolly and very helpful and very happy at his work..

Arrived at 6:50pm with no one sat in the the restaurant a lovely gentleman went to show us to a table and a rude woman told him no it’s booking only they need to sit in the bar area. He was lovely and helped us find a table while she stood with her arms crossed guarding the restaurant! When at the table I looked on the app and I could book a table for 7pm where it also said they will try there best to get you a table if you don’t book? so I am unsure why she could not have squeezed us when she had no guests in the area! Obviously she didn’t want to do any work tonight. She then did exactly the same with another couple who walked out instead of sitting in the bar area.

The meal was lovely, beautiful beach view from our table, great service, delicious desserts, good price

So sad to see this place go so down bank. Don’t get me wrong it’s never been amazing but it is just terrible now. It has the most amazing views but I wouldn’t dream of eating here as the place is so so dirty inside. It even smells unclean. Also not being able to eat in the lower garden area is such shame. I appreciate seagulls are a problem but it’s always been the same in seaside towns. I’m not sure who you would blame apart from whoever is in charge. It needs a revamp and a rethink and if that isn’t possible it needs a thorough deep clean inside and out by a professional team.

The small bar outside is the best and the lady who served was very nice and we got given a treat for the dog. Inside - long queue only one person serving while others skived pretending to be busy. Food took a while to come and when it did it was lukewarm greasy and left you with a bad taste in your mouth. We all deserve better than this!

Really nice place with lovely views of St Ives. Food and drinks are hood but a little pricey. The ladies toilet was our of order, women were using the disabled toilet which when I used it, it was disgusting. I told a member of staff

My family and I have been using the Bluff Inn since our first family 👪 holiday here in Cornwall 1996 which was the Haven site in Perranporth, The staff have always been very welcoming and friendly, We are now here at the moment once again after missing a few years due to covid period and illness 🤒. We have been to the Bluff for meals and drinks several times since we arrived Saturday 7th September and enjoyed it, Until an evening drink being told last orders at 21:22 it happened two nights one after the other unfortunately there will not be a third as we will no longer be using the Bluff Inn again after spending many days with our family, I'm sure we will find somewhere else in which owners will be only too pleased to accept our company thanks.

Popped in for a bit of food as we’re staying on the Haven site. When I say it was some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten, I mean the Worst. I had gammon egg and chips and my Wife had pasta. Both dishes were terrible. You pay through the nose for food you wouldn’t feed your local stray dog. I’d put my money on the food being better in HMP Wandsworth. Also the worst pint of lager I’ve ever drank. If I could rate it 0 ⭐️’s I would. But I can’t.

Food was alright for the price you pay, service was good and the food came very quickly. Great views of the sea Just bare in mind there is no free parking it is pay and display, if you want to use card to pay I’d suggest the big car park opposite the pub

Gem of a pub. It has everything. Kids really enjoy it. The view on the back whilst having a drink can't be beaten! We love it here. Highly recommend.

Food items missing from plate. Wasn't told until the food was served that half the meal was out of stock. Service was extremely slow and servers chatting sway with each other not paying attention to customers. Extremely long wait even tho it wasn't that busy. How we got there for 6 and everything took so long I don't know. No staff checked on us once food was handed out. Didn't offer no apoligies for the wait or missing food items. Didn't come to our table to take plates or ask for pudding . Terrible experience and this was day 1 of my holiday. I will avoid this place for the rest of my stay. Not impressed.

Welll....I had 1 girl who served me...and she needs to learn how to smile and show a friendly face....my sister ordered food...and I'm pretty glad I never...to watch sports it's best to go in the little room where there is 1 big screen and 2 little....pretty disappointed

Really not happy...after being ignored by the staff after having booked a table I had to ask for service. Once ordered and waiting nearly half hour for food the fire alarm went off and we were unceremoniously ushered out of the restaurant into the car park and our dinner and drinks left at the table. No mention of what we were supposed to do so we left. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL. Won't be going back the food was OK nothing to write home about.

We were told to sit outside in the cold with babies. Terrible service

When we arrived, we were advised that there would be a 45 minute wait for the food, so we decided to stay and eat in When placing the food order, this had increased to an hour within minutes. After 90 minutes we asked how much longer our roast dinners would be, to which we were advised with am apology that it would be another 15 minutes as a table had ordered 5 roast dinners just before us (a strange reason for such a delay). The waitress did bring us over a couple of complimentary drinks by way of apology, which was well received. Unfortunately, the meal took a further 35 minutes to arrive, so this was frustrating. The meal itself was good regarding the 2x roast dinners, but the kids' meals were for the nuggets stingy and the pizza plain awful. The pizza's base was wet and slimey as had been placed on something wet before serving. Under normal circumstances, it would have been sent back but not a chance with the time everything had taken! This was just left and our daughter ate when we got home. Overall, this was very disappointing and such a shame as the location and views were stunning, and we had hoped to return again in a couple of days

Horrible food burger tasteless burger bun burnt to a crisp bacon rock hard onion rings hardly no onion chips over cooked.

Before you order your food, look at the floor. If you're happy to order in a place where the floor has years of grime and dirt, you might enjoy it.

Its always good here including the food. Great with the beach right there too.

The views are stunning, and the pub is in a beautiful stop. However, we waited an hour and a half for our mains, with a 4 and 1 years old so things did get stressfull. the food was basic so I couldnt understand what took so long. we then waiting a further hour for desserts ( my kids played in the park on sight ) we only orderes because I promised my kids dessert, ended up going over to a staff member who was lovely and asking about the desserts as my daugher was waiting on an ice cream. It's ashame as its a lovely place but service is really bad with waiting times and is standard pub grab

Came here quite a bit as we were staying at Riviera Sands. Great place and wonderful views 😍

We came here as it was previously a good place. Now run under the Haven umbrella! The wait stated 45mins. It was 1hr and 15min, to receive cold food missing drinks and generally rubbish service. No one asked if the food was ok, some was eaten some was left. If it hadn’t been for the long wait it all would have been returned. Sat here and still one one has returned to the table.

Don't bother. Waited over an hour for Luke warm food. Service was terrible, toilets were filthy. Much better places to eat

Visited last week and the staff was unhelpful and incredibly rude to us. When making a booking we were told we could bring a dog in the restaurant and they were serving Sunday roast and had plenty. Came 45 mins later as per our booking and were told we couldn’t sit in the main area with the dog and the waitress threw the menus on a free table elsewhere, when challenged she turned the other way ignoring us and whispering to the other waitress. When we sat down to order we were told they run out of roast which was the whole reason why we booked there. Didn’t eat there and not returning.

Unfortunately the kitchen closes early. So better get there before 8pm

Staff were very pleasant if not a little rushed off their feet. Understandable as it is the height of the season. Food was really nice. Atmosphere was nice busy but chilled. Would definitely go back for meal and a drink .

We stayed at Riveira Towans and pre-booked sunday lunch at the Bluff for a party of eight on the 11th of Aug...we were not disappointed, we expected a typical pub roast but it was much better, the veg was fresh and altogether an excellent meal. The sea veiws are amazing and the staff were very helpful /polite. We had dinner and lunch at various places around the st Ives area and nothing compared for either value for money or quality.(on the last day we paid a third of what we had paid at the Badger inn for a better meal) Can't wait to return later in the season. Went for a roast and it did not disappoint, there was plenty of food on my plate and it was very delicious.

Spectacular views, right on the beach of Hayle. Food was good, although they messed up with our order of 7 meals. One meal got missed due to incident at the bar, but the manager put it right immediately, gave us something whilst we waited for it to come out and didn't charge us for it.

Waiting time was shocking in the bluff. Especially when you have 4 children Waiting for meals for over an hour and harf

Booked for my Niece’s 13th Bday meal two months before our visit, to be told when we order food there was a 1hr 15 mins wait, thats fine ish! As they were a bit under it. (Understandable) As the drinks were good and the view is spectacular we took the hit on waiting! Well 2hr 10mins later still not all the food was out, was given chips with no burger but was a meal, chips cold burger when arrived warm on outside cold in the middle. Shared platter the chicken strips looked like they were cooked for 12 hrs (Golden Black) dips were like plastic ( showed to the waitress by turning it upside down in the bowl and it never even fell out haha didn’t think that was even possible! So at this point decided to speak to the one in charge, explained my issues and asked for a refund, to be told I understand you’re complaint but if you don’t mind I’d like to go out back to my office and have a think about it for 10mins! The young lady arrived 20-30mins later to happily say we’re going to give you 20% off you food bill! Bear in mind we still hadn’t got it, it’s now been 2hrs 40mins 🤦🏼‍♂️ Sorry no one is hungry anymore kids are getting upset so a refund was given finally. Bit annoyed as wanted breakfast there the morning after. If you fancy a beer and a stunning view this is the place to come but food wise you may want to bring a pack up.👍🏼

No hot drinks, delivered someone elses drinks to table, 60min wait for food, then when it came, dry and rubbery. And no complimentary snack (as advertised) for small child (who'd been waiting an hour for food)

had to call a server over to order even with servers stood around doing nothing, 45 minute wait for food, food was OK, childrens meal was too small, had to wait another 30 minutes for a server (with 4 stood around doing nothing still) to clear the table and take payment

Staff seemed a little uncertain of the menu as it was advertised differently to the menu on the day. Also noticed an offer on a free pint of beer when having a burger . We noticed this after we’d ordered, so when he came back we asked, do we get a beer with our burger. He said it was too late now you have already ordered. Why advertise a free pint with a burger if they not prepared to honour it ! . The food came out quickly and was cooked well . The bill had to be juggled with various items to get the final tally right, because some of the items we were served with wasn’t on their updated menu but where advised differently online. Most confusing.

Service was appalling, had to go and ask where our food was )along with several other tables waiting) to be told it was a 45 minute wait. Don’t waste your time. Nice food but the deal on the steak two for £18.99 isn’t that cos they put a sir charge on top . It’s £5.00 but doesn’t state that on the menu . If I hadn’t of asked we wouldn’t have known.

Why get rid of the arcade the sports is rubbish , atmosphere is like you want to go sleep, food nice though and service , just don’t want to stay bored

Its a bit tricky to rate this pub, being really honest it’s got a whiff of Chav to it. This is because it’s linked to the Haven holiday camp just up the road (owned and run by them). It can get a bit rowdy at times depending on what families are staying nearby and time of day etc. However that being said, if Carlsberg did views from beer gardens then this would probably be the best in the world! If you know the area then you’ll know the view I’m talking about. A great added bonus for this pub is it’s perfectly accessible from the beach below, meaning you can swing by for a cheeky glass of your favourite beverage during a beach walk… perfect! We’ve not eaten here, however I’ve seen the meals look pretty big, so whilst it might not be Michelin star, you’ll certainly feel the value!

Disgusting food. I ordered a mixed grill the meat was dry and the chips came pre salted with far too much salt! This could be issue with anyone with heart problems. I spoke to waiter and he said If you told me at the start, then we could have given you plain chips, but all I was asked at the start was ‘do I have any allergies?’ I don’t class not liking salt as an allergy. I have never Been to a restaurant where the chips already had salt on them.

ASK ABOUT THE OFFER OR YOU DONT GET IT AND DOG URINE ON THE FLOOR We came here a few times over the week we spent at the haven sight near by, kids eat for £1 and although we had both children present with us we were never given this discount until our last meal there where we had to actually ask for it! the girl who served us Erin looked like she’d rather be anywhere else, she just looked at us gone out with the most morbid face i’ve ever seen. She completely messed our order up and missed an item off, my partner asked for just cheese on his burger no salad etc so instead she put it on mine and i believe we were charged extra for it! granted a replacement was sent out fast but instead of a new plate of food they’d just replaced the burger as there was still cheese all over the plate and my chips were cold, for the prices you pay it’s not really acceptable. To top it all off there was alot of vacant tables, none of which had been wiped down and there was evidently dog urine all under our table which as a family restaurant with children running around just isn’t acceptable. Both my children had dropped things on the floor which i then had to wipe with sanitiser because the dog urine didn’t fill me with much confidence on the cleanliness. I get it has beach access but there was sand all over the table which we had to shuffle out of the way. Overall i know its convenient if you’re staying at the haven site but you’d be better spending your money elsewhere, preferably somewhere cleaner.

I would not recommend as with my experience of the bluff inn was terrible.We had to wait for 1HOUR! That was just for food for a family of 1 adult and 2 children.I personally don’t think It was even worth the time or money.However the scenery was nice due to the lovely paintings but the floor was constantly being swept by the manager because of the sandy floor.

The bluff inn is a great place for everything you want . Food great ,staff great . I love the beer garden , the view on a sunny day is amazing. I could sit there for ever gazing out to sea with my Gin and Tonic . Perfect day .

Food was good with great views. This is a haven restaurant. Some of the people working here didn't seem to like their jobs as they all looked miserable and didn't really give great service with a smile but overall the food was good with a view of hayle

Super site for a quiet drink and watching the world go by.

We were served by Dom, who was great. He also took the time to warn us about dive bombing seagulls stealing food off plates. Saying that most of the staff were great. The location is spectacular, and the views are stunning.

A great place to eat with excellent views the menu is limited but what we ordered came fast and was lovely the staff are great..the only thing I noticed was the decor definitely needs bringing back to life and possibly another toilet in..but definitely would recommend

I had dinner in the restaurant. It was a nice evening and the views from te restaurant and terrace are great. It was impossible to order online with the provided QR code, so after several attempts I had to stand in the ordering queu that was pretty long. The food I ordered was not so good. I ordered whole tail scampi, and they brought me a kind of nuggets dripping of fat and with little pieces of fish in it that would stand for the whole tale scampi….The chips were so so, and there was very small portion of peas on the plate. My partner ordered a vegetarian curry, that was quiet okay.

Went here a few times whilst on holiday in Hayle. Great place for a drink and food looking out to sea.

Friendly and helpful staff, the guy from the bar was so nice making us some pancake even though they didn't have fruits(which my kids didn't mind, and obviously we paid the full price as it was our choice, not like we heard a similar story and eventually they were arguing why they are still charging full price, because that was the menu, and was your choice to having it without even price remain the same , or not having it at all). Anyway, nice view, you can see the beach from up there and easy access to it.

Great pub that serves plenty of food and drinks suitable for family friends and children. Staff are polite friendly and keen to serve and Dom is an absolute saint. Great sense of humour and brilliant with the children. I'd recommend the food and alcohol here and definitely bring your happy smiles. I am adding to my review at the 3rd visit, which was just for a hot drink this time and something had changed whereby either the staff were overworked or underpaid, they seemed a little down beat and uninterested. It was busier than the previous visits, so this may be the reason, but when asking for help about the car park, they were not their usual helpful self and then when it came to being served, it was also a long long wait. So perhaps bear this in mind if you visit during peak times, the service may be not as high, but also to treat the staff as humans and remember to have some patience.
