Farmhouse Inn in Wiltshire

We stayed here overnight in our motorhome (Britstops) We had a couple of pints in the garden with our Border Collie then had a meal in the restaurant. We both enjoyed the mushroom starter and the lamb shanks, perfectly cooked and presented on hot plates. The portions were generous so sadly we couldn't cram in a pudding! Our waitress Emma was friendly and efficient and there was a pleasant ambience.

Always will hit the craving for a carvery, not only do they have fantastic customer service everything is just what you want. Remember to add onto the notes for small changes on your carvery! Try the cakes too, absolutely stunning.

Lovely food. Great garden which is dog friendly. Been here a few times now and can't fault it. Added bonus is the bike night ever other Wednesday.

Everything about this place was 5*, staff, service, food, ambiance- value for money - really enjoyed our sunday roast! So perfect in fact we have booked to go back, we all had a sunday roast, tried all the meats, beef, pork and chicken - all delish. Well done Farmhouse Inn

Great service, lovely pub/restaurant and a good traditional pub menu plus a surprisingly wide ranging specials board. After a very difficult decision we chose the fish,chips, tartar sauce with garden peas, good size portion ,very tasty batter and crispy chips. Calves liver with, red wine gravy, mash and fresh veg. I’m always unsure whether to order liver as it’s very easy to over cook but not in this restaurant it was perfect, beautifully cooked and a very generous amount. The house wine was very good value. Highly recommend which will be very good news for our uncle as we will be visiting again soon to take him back for another visit.

We stayed in the family room here after a trip to Longleat Safari park. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was exactly as described, the in room continental breakfast was more than enough for the four of us. The bathroom is shared which is reflected in the price, and wasn’t an issue. We had dinner in the pub in the evening and it was fabulous, so delicious and clearly freshly cooked. Staff are all wonderful. My only criticism would be the TV in the bedroom, I have honestly never seen one so small which made it difficult to watch a film with the kids.

Fantastic Sunday lunch today - really tasty beef perfectly medium rare, great Yorkshire pudding, tasty veg and an amazing Pannacotta with coulis to finish. It was great that there was a “small plate” option for my Mum, who doesn’t eat much!! Friendly service and great atmosphere. Happy this is just down the road!

Fabulous Sunday lunch for 14 of us. We are regular walkers who enjoy our lunch afterwards. The pre ordering meant we had seamless friendly service. All the food was hot and the meat was of excellent quality. As regular Sunday lunchers around Wiltshire everyone agreed it was probably the best we had. Many will want to return now we’ve found it. Well done to all the team .

Stunning and a great experience. Team meal held 12th December and from start to finish the experience was out of this world. December is always busy, however all staff very attentive, happy and went over and above to please. The food was fantastic. Fish and chips, scampi, jacket potato etc all fantastic and clearly fresh produce cooked fresh. This place is a little gem and everyone needs a well done especially when it clear how busy it was, however nobody was phased. Great effort all and we will now be back for regular team lunches .

Two excellent Sunday Lunch meals on consecutive weekends. Well cooked and excellent value main courses and desserts. We had such a lovely meal on our way down to Exmoor, my wife and I decided to have another meal on our way back home the following Sunday. All the staff are great and very friendly. We have now found a new stop over for lunch when we are visiting Exmoor going forward.

Lovely food, Sea Bass with mixed vegetables is excellent. Reasonably priced. Facilities indoors are good and there is a beer garden and plenty of room for parking. Staff are very friendly. Highly recommended!

We stayed at The Farmhouse in our motorhome for the night. From our first contact by phone to arrange our stay to leaving the next morning the lady running the pub and her staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The Farmhouse has a large, neat car park, pleasant well tended garden with plenty of seating and tables, welcoming and attractive bars and good clean facilities. We enjoyed our well priced meal and the service was attentive and quick. Will definitely visit again next time we are in the area!

We had our Wedding Reception here in 2022. We stayed the night before which made everything much Easier on the morning of the wedding. The meetings we had to discuss what we would like went well. When we went into the room for the first time after it was set up beautifully, I was truly very happy with how it had all come together. The food we had was perfect and we had no complaints at all. Jan and staff ran the day like clock work and we didnt have to worry at all. The evening Buffet was nice and more than enough for us all. Even the Dj they suggested went down a treat too! I parked here overnight in my campervan and had a meal. The staff are lovely and the pub is nicely renovated. I had 2 pints of cider, a very good lasagne with garlic bread and salad and marmalade bread and butter pudding all for £25...

Having made Sunday Lunch "Out" a regular treat, I have to say that yesterdays experience at the Farmhouse, was memorable. Beautifully cooked meat, veg just right, proper Yorkshire puds and really tasty gravy. The service was excellent and everyone could not have been more helpful....

I've been coming to The Farmhouse for years and took my mother there the Mothers day today. They were very busy but the staff and service were both fantastic, as was the food.The young girls who served us were friendly and attentive, even though they were clearly rushed off their feet with bigger tables.The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The chocolates given at the end of the meal as a mother's day treat was a particularly nice touch. Well done all xx

As always a delicious roast …both the sirloin and the pork were extremely tender and melted in the mouth.I just love the tasty gravy.In fact every mouthful had the “MMMmm” factor.Adam and Janet are always perfect hosts.

First visit to the Farmhouse, we sat in the bar with our dog and we were promptly shown the specials board and our drink order was taken. We both chose the mixed grill special and we weren’t disappointed. It arrived in good time and not only was it huge, everything was really tasty. After a long walk with the dog it was just what we needed! Thank you we will be back

On a recent visit we both had the steak on a stone for the first time, what a lovely meal, they turned up sizzling with a side dish of tomato’s mushrooms salad and the best chunky chips I think I have ever had, also I ordered port and Stilton sauce, one portion did both meals. We were both so full up at the end we had to think twice about a sweet, but the draw of the marsh field farm ice cream was so strong we had to share one between us, all in all a fantastic experience and one I can thoroughly recommend

I visited The Farmhouse Inn with my family for a roast dinner. The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. Although they were all wearing masks you could see they were smiling. The service was very quick and efficient. What can I say about the food - simply fantastic. Choice of 3 meats. Plenty of fresh vegetables and lovely crispy potatoes. Best of all extra gravy. Will definitely be going back. I recommend the Farmhouse for anybody wanting a nice evening out with lovely food and comfortable surroundings. The staff are great!

What a fantastic meal, I had the BEST roast meats, gammon that was succulent, Turkey that was moist and flavoursome and the best rare beef that almost didn’t need chewing it was so tender. The chefs are superb and all of the waiting and bar staff are so friendly and helpful it’s a really wonderful atmosphere, if you fancy a lovely meal in a traditional setting then this is the place for you.

I met up with a group of friends for a Christmas get together. We chose the Farmhouse because it was central for all of us. I ordered steak which I like BLUE. It can be hit or miss with it often being overcooked but my steak was perfect, tender, tasty and juicy, I had it with peppercorn sauce and chips - absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend. The landlady was great as were the waitresses, nothing was too much trouble. We had such a great night we have arranged to meet there again in January.

Great service but unfortunately six steaks ordered were all badly cooked & very poor meat quality, such a shame as always used to get a decent steak in this pub. Won’t be back.

7 family members met for pre Christmas Sunday lunch do at The Farmhouse today and had a lovely time. Roast lunch was very good. Lots of friendly attentive staff. Good fun atmosphere.

We would like to thank all the staff at The Farmhouse Inn for making our recent trip so special. We received the warmest of welcomes during what was for them a busy Saturday night, were seated at our request at a quieter table for two, and treated with care from start to finish. We enjoyed a lovely atmosphere, food, and wine and felt thoroughly spoilt. Despite the fact that the pub was holding a function for over 60 people at the same time, the efficiency of service was impressive, we did not have to wait for anything, nothing was too much trouble and Janet and her team were helpful, professional, polite and attentive throughout our meal. We definitely recommend the Farmhouse Inn for its friendly atmosphere, traditional pub fayre, and excellent customer service and look forward to returning soon.

We have just returned from the Farmhouse after having a superb Christmas meal. The food was delicious and the staff were superb. This is a wonderful pub and, if you haven’t visited before, make sure you put it on your list.

I just wanted to thank you for such a great lunch. My father has been through an awful 12 months and the year before that wasn’t great either. He has stopped wanting to go out but we gave him no choice and as our previous go-to lunch venue hasn’t made it through the pandemic we turned to online reviews and managed to get a table here.The welcome was warm, the spacing of the tables was such to allow Dad to relax, the service was slick and well managed and the food… perfect. The gravy was delicious, portions were on the generous side, especially the succulent, beautifully cooked beef. The cheesy garlic bread (Yes, I know, who has garlic bread with their roast beef - but at least it wasn’t ketchup) was quite simply the best we’ve ever tasted.And Dad? He’s not eaten as much in 2 years and is still saying how much he enjoyed his trip out.Thank you.

I took my wife and daughter plus our well behaved hound here one evening and throughly enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. We sat around a table in the bar since we had the dog. I had a Rump Steak sizzling on a hot stone which was delicious, my wife had a Chicken dish from the specials board and my daughter went for a veggy option, a Mediterranean Vegetable tart. Good food good company and great value!

We had travelled approximately 70 miles to take my wife and Mother In Law to see Bradford on Avon and Dundas Aquaduct , and found this lovely pub . The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful and WOW the food was gorgeous. We arrived without a reservation but made to feel very welcome.My wife and Mother in Law had the suet pie and I had the skate - it was all lovely. If I lived closer I would be in every day . We appreciated the generous portions and value for money.We hope to be back soon

My husband and I met up with our family on Sunday lunchtime, to celebrate my birthday. The earliest we could book for was 2.15 and when we arrived we thought, not very busy, surely we could have come earlier. However, within 10 minutes the place started to fill up and was soon busy.Service was very good and choices for the various size portions we needed was great too. (Not just a child size, but also a 'small' portion)Beef or pork were offered, you could have both! Vegetables were well cooked and not soggy and the cauliflower cheese was to die for!Everything came up at the same time and refills of drinks were offered a couple of times.We didn't try the puddings, as my grandchildren had cooked for me, but seeing what others were having, they too looked very good.Thoroughly recommend Sunday lunch here and will be going back to try other days now.

Mum & I stopped here after failing to find somewhere to eat in Trowbridge town centre and I am so glad we did. The manager & barman made us feel very welcome. A lovely little family pub in an ideal location. We were not particularly hungry so we just shared two starters & a dessert all of which were extremely delicious. We will definitely be back to have a proper meal & will recommend it too.

Taking an unusual route back from Cornwall we called in as it appeared the first decent place that we had seen in many miles along our specific route. Very fortunate decision. Staff and management were positive, polite and engaged.Service was prompt, menu was extensive, the quality of the food was entirely acceptable.Thoroughly impressed as always by people who know what they're doing, engage with the customer and deliver in every way.

Came across this pub after seeing their Tuesday burger deal on their website. £10 for a variety of different burger combinations , we were sold! The burgers were delicious and were served with French fries , salad and homemade coleslaw. The staff were very efficient and friendly and welcomed us with a warm smile. Will definitely be coming again!

Went for a family Sunday lunch. Three roast beefs and a farmhouse pie. All were excellent with generous portions of roast beef even on the Small. Service was very friendly and very fast. Great atmosphere too. We had a young child with us and crayons and a colouring book were brought out for us. A very enjoyable meal in a lovely building.

Perfect Sunday Roast on Mothers Day 2021. The meal was delivered ( as obviously closed due to Lockdown} exactly at the arranged time. Mum was thrilled to bits and thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal, Roast beef was perfect.Delivery or Collection is available due to Lockdown, great idea from the Farmhouse manager we will definitely be ordering again.

Having ordered & picked up take-away roast dinners over the past two Sundays I have to say that on both occasions the meals were excellent. We had the roast beef & have tried them medium to rare & medium to well done, both of which were cooked to perfection with a generous portion of meat.It's also worth noting in the present circumstances that Covid restrictions are in place and being enforced.The venue is also open for sit-downs although I expect it would be a good idea to book in advance.Compliments to the chef & staff.

Great burger amazing chips and best onion rings. Wife had steak on sizzle plate with sauces and as usual it was amazing. Had chocolate orange cheesecake with cream which was amazing. Well worth a visit when they get chance to reopen

This was the third time we have visited the Farmhouse Inn, the first time was in August with the ‘eat out’ special offer, not been here for many a year, but it was so delicious and the service was so good we continue to return. We have ordered the same thing as we enjoyed it so much, had the sirloin steak on the hot plate with veg, sauté potatoes and a beautiful port and Stilton sauce, heavenly all at a reasonable price, will be back

Visited for an evening drink. What a soulless place. No atmosphere, abrupt staff and pricey drinks. Dust covered artificial plants and a dead insect on the shelf next to our table. I recognise there needs to be COVID warnings and guidance but it felt like every bit of wall and floor was covered with yellow tape and signs. They need to get a little more balance. Certainly the experience did not encourage us out in the near future.

Fantastic lunch with my husband & 18 month old son. Eating out is stressful enough with a young child & even worse now with worries around Covid. We found this pub followed all the safety guidelines which made the whole experience less stressful. They cleaned down tables, chairs & high chairs thoroughly between customers. The staff were very attentive & helpful. The food was delicious & the service was fantastic. We did not have to wait long at all for Our meals which again is very helpful with a young child. The baby changing facilities are also in the disabled toilets allowing the option of either parent to be able to deal with this. It annoys me that most establishments have baby changing in the female toilets preventing dads taking care of their children so a big thumbs up again from a very happy mum. I can highly recommend this pub for a great family meal.

Decided to take mum out for a meal and booked The Farmhouse Inn after a recommendation from a friend. I had the chicken breast in Asparagus sauce (so did mum) and my husband had Sea Bass. My husband said his Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and I can honestly say i have never had such a succulent chicken breast with the tastiest ever sauce, topped off with a fresh selection of vegetables and a choice of how we wanted our potatoes (we had new). Safe to say we will definitely be returning, Thank you Farmhouse Inn your food was delicious!

Just had an indulgent lunch for two. Obvs with the offer on at present the place was full!! But rightly so we had a fab two course lunch which was fresh and tasty. First time with beef and lamb steaks on a hot plate but very enjoyable. Their sauces are delicious and decadent. Friendly staff who were working well under pressure. We will go again definitely.

Decided to eat here to catch up with some friends. I looked at the menu online which didn’t seem very exciting, however once we arrived there was a specials board which was very good and we all ordered something off of there.I chose a goats cheese and walnut salad, presentation was excellent and tasted wonderful. By far the nicest salad I’ve had for a long time.Good choice of puddings too, many restaurants and pubs have reduced their menus in this current climate but the Farmhouse still had a very good selection. I opted for a mint Aero cheesecake which didn’t disappoint!The staff are very friendly and attentive, we stayed for a while after our meal chatting and we didn’t feel rushed at all.Good social distancing measures in place. I will definitely be visiting again.

I didn’t actually get to eat here, I phoned to make a booking but there was no answer. So I emailed them. Had no reply so I called them again today to see if they had received my booking. The woman had a very pleasant tone and I’m guessing she had a lovely smile on her face, however I don’t think anyone has ever been that rude to me. She told me that she had been off the previous day so hadn’t seen any emails and they were fully booked anyway!!! I didn’t even tell her when I had booked for! So unless she is psychic she would have no idea when I wanted to eat. It’s all very well having an excellent telephone manner but you have to be able to be nice too. I won’t try booking again that’s for sure!!

We were nervous as we hadn’t been out to eat since lockdown, we needn’t have worried, everything was perfect. The one way in and out, sanitising station, tables all 2 meters apart. We ordered steak on a stone, we all agreed it was the best steak we had ever had, served with crunchy chips and veg, perfect for our first venture out. We were in the garden, there was a collection table and used plates etc section. As the dirty plates were collected the table was swiftly sprayed and cleaned. Well done Adam and Jan, you have made it safe to eat out again, Thankyou, oh and Thankyou Boris too!

A starter and main combo on the specials board was priced at £14.95. We went for the Whitebait, lasagne and deep fried brie as mains. Whitebait and lasagne were excellent, the deep fried brie a bit cold in the centre. Staff were friendly and served a good pint of 6x. Overall pretty good.

Okay so thought we would have a meal out after lockdown. Place was so clean had to sign in on arrival and sanitize hands. Taken straight to our pre booked table, one way system in use . Staff were brilliant yet again so helpful got drinks straight away. I had the burger with cheese and bacon yet again and yet again it was superbly cooked tasted amazing. My wife had rump steak with garlic mushroom sauce which was cooked to perfection. A really great night out we both enjoyed our selves and staff were really amazing making whole evening great. Would recommend booking and going for a meal. Oh and the onion rings were superb aswell.

It’s so amazing that restaurants are now adapting their menu to make it more vegan or vegetarian friendly! I came in with a group of my friends after seeing that they had a ‘vegan week’ advertised on their Facebook page. The vegan specials looked insane and we knew we had to come in and try them. We were greeted very nicely and all the staff seemed very friendly. My friend and I ordered the chicken style burger whilst my other friend ordered the mushroom pie. It tasted delicious! We have both never tried such a yummy vegan ‘chicken’ style burger before and I would highly recommend to try it when you next go back!

Went and had the house burger with cheese and bacon. Wife had the steak on the hot plate that cooked as you sat . It was perfect the burger was great flavour. Chips were really good and side order of home made onion rings were brilliant

I left it late for Valentine's Day dinner but they fitted us in and made us very welcome.Sea bass was very good ,my wife likes her scampi and fries .The deserts were delicious and all served by smiling friendly staff.We would certainly recommend this pub to anyone.

Popped in for lunch as local and I hadn’t tried it. Service was good and staff very friendly. However, we both ordered a burger with chips and salad and it was very “average”! It was Weatherspoons quality food at twice the price and I was very disappointed. Based on reviews of Sunday Lunch we might try it again but it’s not somewhere I’d be rushing back to.

We've never had a bad meal here yet and it's a testamant to the place that whenever we have visitors they always want to go here to eat. Our latest visit was at 6:15 on a Sunday night and as always the food was exceptional, however the samd couldn't be said of the service. We were one of two tables in the restaurant and once the desserts had been served the waiting staff disappeared, never to be seen again. We had to catch the eye of what appeared to be the one member of staff covering the very busy bar and the restuarant area to order coffees. When it came to asking for the bill I had to go through to the bar area and wait for the one staff member to stop pouring pints. The lack of staff detracted from what would have been a perfect experience.

Food very nice, a bit rushed but no doubt due to the high volume of people attending. The only complaint was, no festive accessories! Not a party popper, streamer or cracker in sight. That is disappointing. It’s a party night for goodness sake 🤔

I held my annual Charity event here last weekend and what a fabulous evening ! Food & Service excellent!

All the staff were incredible when I came in on Sunday with my little baby! The waitress was very considerate when placing our meals on the table and spoke in a quiet tone to ensure that my baby didn’t wake up. As well as this , The staff behind the bar were lovely and friendly and our food was amazing and came very quickly!

We come here most sundays for a roast. No where local compares. Generous portions and good quality food. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere!

Stopped at the Farmhouse Inn after a long weekend away hoping for a nice Sunday roast. Landlord and staff very accommodating even with our small dog. The Sunday roast was amazing one of he best I’ve had. Definitely will be back!

Visited here with my family and lil baby boy, we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome and taken straight to our table. Was offered a highchair for my lil one which was very helpful.

Unfortunately the quality seems to vary considerably from one time to another. Recently we have noticed the meat servings are becoming less by thinly sliced beef, the vegetables seem as thgh they have been kept under heat (lamps?) since lunch time, vegetables are Luke warm, plates are cold.

If you want a good homely type of cooked meal, then this of the place to go. Good menu selection and the food was tasty. What made this visit even better was the excellent service from the staff - friendly, professional and accommodating which was lovely. (Ask for a handful of their jellybeans - don’t know where they get them but there unusually nice for a jellybean!)

Lovely staff and great food. Food arrived quickly and service was prompt. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I really enjoyed the panna cotta. My only slight complaint was the packaged biscuit that accompanied the dessert, a home made piece of shortbread would have given the meal a 5 star rating.

Me and the my other half came across this lovely little pub a few weeks ago. We both went for the steak stone and it was absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend this place, great staff and a good atmosphere. Will definitely be going back soon.

Stopped here on the off chance as was just passing through with my partner. Seen that food was served all day Saturday and Sunday on the sign outside.
