Visited for midweek dinner whilst visiting the area. We had fish & chip- I can honestly say it was the worst fish & chips ever had. Fish was soggy, almost mushy, and salad had seen better days. Peas were good! I won’t be returning. Very disappointed.

We were staying close by and walked to the pub for lunch. Even though we were a party of 10 (3 generations) and hadn’t booked we were made very welcome and the service was excellent. Two of us were able to take advantage of the “Seniors menu”. This is such good value for money. The cauliflower and cheddar soup was excellent as was the rest of the meal. We all enjoyed the meal so much we booked for dinner the following night. We were not disappointed as once again the food was really tasty and the service was excellent again. Friendly and efficient.

We decided to visit The Kings Head for lunch after seeing the very mouthwatering photos on Facebook. We were surprised that the pub was almost empty upon arrival as were advised to book a table. When we were given the menus we were told the sea bass and pork belly was not available which was what we were going to order but never mind. So I decided to order the rump steak. 5 minutes later I was told this was unavailable too so I just opted for local sausages and mash from the specials board. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when it arrived. It looked like a child had presented it on the plate in a windmill shape! I wasn't expecting the mash to be anything special, but I was expecting the sausages to be decent. Sadly, they tasted like and probably were cheap supermarket sausages. I could have made the same meal myself at home at a fraction of the price using sausages from the butcher's! My partner had the burger and chips which he did enjoy but was disappointed with the amount of chips. Overall a very disappointing experience and I'm reluctant to visit again 😕

We visited the Kings Head on Sunday 4th February for lunch. On entering the pub the open fire was warm and inviting. The service was excellent friendly and efficient. The food was extremely good our order ranged from traditional roast lunches to fish pie and scampi. All were prepared and served to a high standard at a very reasonable price. £12 for a roast. This is a lovely country pub which we will certainly be visiting again in the future.

What a hidden gem. Great place, really lovely inside and out. Lovely menu - just what you would expect but much much more. The food was incredible, tasty, well presented and hot. We had a variety of starters - the pigeon was lush. Fish and chips were great with two of us, I had the Game Pie from the specials board - it was lovely & a proper pie - crisps pastry and a delicious filling, beautiful fresh veg and mash. Seared tuna was cooked to perfection and the burger was fab. Desserts sounds amazing too but we were well and truly full. Prices - cheaper than mass produced typical pub grub. We have booked for their Victorian Christmas Event and if last night was anything to go by - we are in for a treat. Special mention to the lovely staff who looked after us so well, chatted and made us feel so very welcome. I highly recommend you visit.

Myself (Not a fan of roast dinners) and my husband (the worlds biggest critic of meat as he is a beef farmer) met up with friends at the Kings Head for Sunday Roast. The staff were very welcoming and service was quick and with a smile! There was a lot to select from on the menu including a venison option for the roast and a starter of Crab crumpets which I was tempted to ask for as a main. In the end both my husband and I opted for the roast beef thinking it always makes it easier. I was so glad I did. The food arrived piping hot well cooked veg, plenty of meat and everything cooked to perfection. The added bonus was a dish of broccoli cheese and an extra pot of gravy. Even husband was impressed by the beef - succulent and tender. Never known a beef roast keep both of us happy. I like a beef dinner looking like a good vet could get it mooing again and he prefers it cremated. We both came away happy. Well done Kings Head. If we lived closer we would be back every week. Could you please move the pub over to the Denmead area and we would be in every day!

Very welcoming and friendly staff and the food was well presented and delicious. The crab starters and the goats cheese with candied walnuts from the specials board were both excellent and came garnished with Pomegranate and delightfully seasoned tiny peppers. I enjoyed the kings head burger while my wife had the venison roast which looked even better than the photos and pronounced it was very good indeed.

After giving the pub a wide birth for nearly 12 months and 3 different chefs, thought we would give the local pub another chance. What a waste of time that turned out to be. Food was lacking taste, dessert tasted like it was from frozen and prices were gastro pub for local boozer experience. To make it worse, they have continued to falsely use other pubs images of food (as once again exposed on Facebook), but continue to lie and block anyone that highlights. One way to lose your local support! Bring back the previous owners!!

The pub was very quiet for a Sunday lunchtime, which was surprising. I had the beef roast and it was excellent.. could not fault it in anyway. Service was great and price was same as most the places in this area. Will definitely be going back in future for more Sunday roasts.

The staff were friendly throughout, I would without a doubt recommend this pub for some good quality food if you’re planning on visiting the New Forrest.

I haven't been here for years but it seemed like a good spot for Sunday lunch after a morning walk up to Pepperbox Hill and back. A warm welcome and we were shown immediately to our table by a very pleasant female member of staff. A mercifully short menu (always a sign of a chef who cares) made a decision easy until I looked at the specials board. Aaaaargh! Kidneys! My favourite. In the end I went with the roast beef served pink (yes it was!) and I was not at all disappointed. Utterly superb, with the crowning glory being the gravy! As soon as the plate was put on the table I looked at the shine on this pool of rich loveliness and thought "if that tastes half as good as it looks, it's going to be fantastic). It was! The best sauce I have ever had, and that includes some very high end restaurants. Everything else about the meal was faultless, including the attentive service and the relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

A group of us dined here. Overall the food was very poor so we assumed it was the Chef’s night off. I didn’t have a starter but some had a bowl of sprouts with pancetta - weird. Others enjoyed the Seafood Cocktail and the Soup. My partner and I both had Turkey main courses. Sadly it was dry and the sprouts and carrots weren’t cooked. We were offered extra gravy but it never arrived. Others complained about the Salmon en Croute which arrived on cold plates with a minuscule amount of salmon. One was sent back. I hope the kitchen noticed the amount of food that was left on plates. The Christmas Pudding dessert was clearly not home made and arrived without the ice cream promised on the menu. Service was fine and the staff were pleasant.

Another lengthy wait to get the table cleared and dessert menus offered despite the pub having almost emptied by this time. Then followed a half hour wait to be served with 3 desserts. Finally, on ordering teas and coffees, we were told that there was no milk. All very disappointing especially as this meal was given as a Christmas present following good experiences in the past.

8 of us were staying locally and The Kings Head was literally across the road. Overall we visited 3 times while here. Friday lunchtime, evening and then for a Sunday roast. Slightly different experiences. Generally the food and drink was good. It was a lovely little country pub. However on both of the Friday visits, after the food orders were taken, the servers on a couple of occasions came back to say "thats run out / not on the menu today" ! Once fair enough, twice...a bit more communication from the kitchen to the waiting staff would be a good idea. Things do run out in restaurants/pubs of course, but ideally at the time of placing orders, then it would be better to let people know before ?! The serving staff were great by the way. What saved it was the Sunday roast. Choice of pork, beef or turkey. Big slices of meat and plenty of veg and a huge yorkshire. V nice. No room for puddings so most of us ended on coffees.

first impressions? brilliant. very warm and smiley greetings from nice member staff and an excellent pint of ringwood ale. a very busy but not rushed dining area and again nice service taking our order for lunch then ( another pint of ringwood) my wife and i had the sunday roast and our guest had similar but beef instead of pork. and there is the dissapointment. regardless of tradition i do not want a yorkshire pudding covering a quarter of the plate and definitely the pork sliced on a machine so thin it was almost transparent a portion so small at £13.95 it was not value for money even though the vegetables were very nice as was the gravy. overall? lovely service, excellent ale but ultimately poor value. ps i did have another pint of ringwood. no i was not driving. larry

My partner and I stopped by for lunch on our first day of our mini break. We were greated by a friendly member of staff and had the whole pub to ourselves. We ordered our drinks and we we’re given menus for lunchtime. Both of us ordered the small appetite lasagne which when arrived was larger than expected and very hot. Overall fanstastic service, friendly staff and lovely food.

OUT OF THIS WORLD, PERFECTION! We held our wedding reception here in September 2018. It was amazing! We have only just about come back down to earth hence the late posted review! Karen and Rob went to the end of the world and back to make our day special. The staff were fantastic and service 100%.

We were staying in a cottage literally over the road from this pub so thought we would walk over and give it a try. I’m so glad we did. The staff were lovely, the food was fantastic and they also welcome dogs which our black Labrador was very happy about!

Brought a group of 23 ramblers to the pub for lunch yesterday and was delighted with the experience. Our booking was efficiently handled and a large table was ready for us when we arrived. We were warmly received, the beer was great and the food was unanimously agreed to be excellent. A particular call-out for the beef lasagne and the cannelloni.

What a great pub. Was recommended to us by some friends who have recently moved to the area. We were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and made to feel like old friends. We both had garlic mushrooms to start with, which were the tastiest i've ever had and for the main course I had the homemade pie and my husband had the lamb, they were both absolutely delicious. Fresh, tasty food cooked to perfection. We had a lovely evening, thankyou to all the staff for making us feel so welcome, we'll definitely be back.

Lovely warm welcome, and when we read the menu we were so pleased with the range of veggie options that sounded great: but what was served was bare disappointing.

Found The Kings Head on our last day. Shame. As usual our map reading skills went awry, so we noted The Kings head for on the way back to where ever we going!!? The first thing my wife and I were impressed with when we entered this charming pub were the ladies serving behind the bar. They were welcoming, friendly and cheerful. We did not eat but just had a beer. Good selection of ales. As it was a bright sunny day we took advantage and sat in the lovely garden. Definitely make a bee line back to The Kings Head if we get lost in The New Forest again.

Visited on a Wednesday evening to see what this pub was like. The menu was interesting and varied, but unfortunately sold out of a couple of things we would have tried. The fish and chips we had was good and the service was also good.

We have just had a seniors’ lunch at The King’s Head which is a lovely, country pub with very friendly staff. The portions were generous and although I am normally wary of choosing rump steak, mine was very tasty and cooked exactly how I asked for it to be cooked. I followed this with apple crumble and custard and all of this was priced at £8.00. My husband had the ham, egg and chips and ice cream for dessert and said that his meal was also good. We will definitely go back for another lunch if we visit Redlynch again.
