The best restaurants serving British food in West Devon South West

After eating here for several years, it’s lovely to say the food is amazing as always, never had a bad meal. Congratulations Gary, keep it up 😍😂

We visited the Oxenham Arms twice over our week in Dartmoor. Both times the food was delicious and the staff friendly and inviting. On our visits we had the beef shin, mushroom linguine and pork belly and would happily recommend any one of them as a main course. They were all very tasty. The stand out though was the cheese souffle starter - absolutely delicious! We will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

A must for any walker/runner/cyclist on Drake’s trail. Dog friendly. Excellent selection of sweet & savoury treats including the legendary cinnamon swirls. Good choice of tea, coffee & hot chocolate up to 100%. Hot chocolate is served hot - none of this Health & Safety lukewarm & totally unsatisfying offering. Very popular - only drawback is there are no customer toilets.

Very friendly. Simple menu but not expensive. Easy parking. Pleasant town. Piped music immediately shut off when asked (which doesn’t usually happen!). All good.

Excellent food in a very traditional pub. The most friendly welcome I have ever received from a landlord. A bit difficult to find as it’s tucked up a side road behind what looks like farm buildings. Well worth a visit

Great experience my wife's birthday so all out for lunch. Lovely food especially the specials attentive staff and a wonderful landlord. We will return next visit to Devon (Clawford lakes c9milrs away)

Went for a quick lunch in between our train stops. Food took almost an hour to come out with some of us finishing eating before others started resulting in us left having to scoff our food down so we didn’t miss the train! Chips were smothered in oil and the burger was almost undercooked. Tables left uncleaned and service was poor. This needs to improve as the place has good potential but need some serious help

we visited on a Saturday tea time .The welcome was warm and our young lady that served our table was very friendly. I had the scallops for starters which consisted of 2 which were small and over done for 12 pound I thought was a little pricey .Everyone else s starter were amazing and the short rib was just wow..Our main course were mostly steaks which were all cooked over the open fire to perfection. The rib eye i had was just incredible. My wife had the vegan burger which she described as awful.the consistency was like mush and she could nt eat it .To be fair to the team they did ask if they could put this right but it it had put her off.The manager did remove the meal from the bill .So mixed emotions on our visit ,the team dealt with everything very professionally .just not a great veggie option.Steaks though are incredible 👌

We always come here when visiting family in Horrabridge. The food is excellent everytime👍

Not only a fantastic restaurant, one of our favourites, food is amazing staff absolutely fantastic. But Karen is an amazing cake maker, did my mum's birthday cake, everyone over the moon with it.

we went here for food and honestly the food was unreal we had a wide variety of meals some off the base menu and some off the special items could not of asked for a better meal I had to complement the chef I asked him his name and he said luke you should be proud of yourself the food you cook is top tier well done

We stayed as part of the winter dine and stay promotion and were really impressed. Cosy rooms, very friendly service and exquisite food. Having previously dined here 15 years ago I was expecting good quality food and service but was even more impressed this time around. The atmosphere is more relaxed than my previous experience, the staff were super friendly and it was great to relax in the lounge after dinner and chat with other guests. The location is great, with lovely views, we would certainly recommend.

Great find as it’s really comfortable place to stop and relax. Perfect gluten free apple pie and cream. We also ordered a panini and cream tea and all food was thoroughly enjoyed. Very pleasant staff. Will definitely return.

I ordered a large pastie which I paid £4.50 what I got was a small pastie which waisted terrible. How oggy can say they are the best pastie around I don't know they are rubbish. And should be ashamed selling small pastie as a large. You even need to clean up ur shop and stop ur staff from picking there nose wen serving.
