An absolute gem, with swirls (sweet and Savoury), the cakes are equally delicious. Especially recommend camembert, mushroom and spinach swirl 😋 The coffee is expertly made.

I pop in here at least twice a week now since moving nearby earlier in the year. Their savoury and sweet swirls are just amazing. My first try was a tuna one and my favourite sweet one to date was rhubarb. I also buy local honey and eggs there too. Really enjoy making up my mind what I'm going to buy each time ! Thankyou ladies !

The Dartmoor Bakery can only be described as a mini food hall from Waitrose or even Fortnums! Go prepared with a bulging wallet or a flush credit card! This place has the most gorgeous array of foods, cheeses, pies, pastries, cakes wines, pickles...it is a true cornucopia of festive country fare and you will not be disappointed! It's tiny and cramped with a little indoor sitting space and no toilet (there's a public convenience just two shakes of a lambs tail away). I think it's real strength is a huge array of extremely high quality goods, so it's less of a cafe and more of a delicatessen for treating family and friends at home. We loved it!

Stopped here for takeaway sandwiches and a coffee on our Coast to Coast cycle ride. Lovely stop on the edge of Dartmoor with the wild ponies nearby, ample car parking also so if arriving by car no problems. My daughter came in with another lady and a couple of children, spent over 25 pounds and asked to use the toilet, she was refused and subsequently had to wee in a bush outside. I was always under the impression if you have seating and are serving food you should provide toilets. As you might imagine they will not be coming back.

Agreed the lemon & blueberry swirl was seriously good. And ditto the mars bar tiffin thing. £2.50 - £3.00 each, so prices you'd expect from a cafe rather than a bakery, but with just a couple of rustic tables outside it's more of a bakery, as the name suggests. Friendly. Also careful on Covid. Will be back.

Enjoyed a delicious freshly baked s'mores swirl and tea. Other flavours that day included cinnamon and bakewell. The swirl was still warm, disappeared very quickly. The tea was good quality and served with a little timer, it was so nice I did not need to add a splash of milk to it. This bakery has a very nice and relaxed vibe, friendly and cosy. Their multigrain bread loaf was nummy too. Just a pity they do not sell organic bread. Free parking and lovely walks nearby.

I have to say that I think the food here is extremely expensive for what it is. I also understand that a small cafe/bakery in the middle of nowhere has to make it's profit from somewhere but I think £2.00 for a very small piece of very ordinary shortbread (takeaway) is over the top. I’m always happy (and lucky to be able) to pay extra for homemade quality food. Popped in for a takeaway roll, chose Brie and chilli jam, and it was made there and then and therefore tasted fresh and delicious. The place had a peaceful and happy vibe. The young lad serving was friendly and polite which suggests he enjoys working there and I don’t blame him. It’s so important to support these hard working small businesses otherwise we will be left with nothing other than soulless chains serving mediocre food.

Also, please could they ask someone for advice about where to add apostrophes. “Card’s”, “milkshake’s” ?? Sorry to be a pedant but it irritates me!

Really friendly staff, lots of seating options and an excellent range of cakes and scrolls in the display cabinet all made fresh. The coffee was also very good and the selection of chocolate so you could choose the sweetness (55-85% Cocoa) is a fantastic idea. The savoury scrolls (1. Pulled Pork and Dragon fruit. 2 Chorizo and herb) were delicious with plenty of filling and excellent quality bread, so light and fluffy. Great bread on sale and various delights including some homemade cakes. I enjoyed a brie & cranberry toasted sandwich on some whole grain bread which was absolutely delicious. My wife had a sort of whirl thing that had something inside it, sausage and something else I think! What am I like? Anyway, her's also tasted great. There are some tables and chairs outside for the warmer days. Dogs are welcome. There isnt a great deal of room inside so don't be surprised if it looks busy when you arrive. And, it is primarily a bakery. The seating inside is cramped and on a glorious sunny day in June, it was an extremely hot and uncomfortable place to sit and eat. So, we wandered outside to one of two picnic tables and sat in the fresh air. Cheerful and polite staff made for a good start and we decided on 2 sandwiches. Both of these (made with their own bread) were voted as "ok" but given the prices, we thought they were less than good value for money. The food menu is understandably perhaps, very limited and, unlike other reviewers, I was not impressed by the selection of cakes. So, for where it is and what it is, this is handy place to stop for a coffee and snack but that's all I would recommend.

This small cafe produces in-house fresh bread so what else do you need to know. Well...for a small cafe it's pricey....a bowl of soup at £5 because its home-made does not make sense to me...if its home-made soup its simple, cheap, quick, filling and tasty, try £3 a bowl is my suggestion. The re-cycled pallet shelving, displays and furniture is a little bit over whelming for such a small space but they've gone for the 'organic-recycled, fairtrade, hippy-look' which is fine...it matches the food...which is okay.

Tried this bakery/coffee shop when others we normally use were closed. The ambiance is to try and invoke a feeling of recyling, so if wooden pallets nailed to the wall and plain concrete floor for decor is your thing then I suppose this is the place for you. (I'm sure you get the picture). It is located a short distance from the Cycle Trail so handy for that.On the day we went, it was afternoon on a cold damp day. Due to the baking throughout the day on site, the common kitchen/restaurant space was nice and warm, but due to the large single glazed shop front type windows, the glass was covered in condensation streaming down the inside glass. Not that there is much to look out at, a car park and a village road is all you would see. The aroma from the baking must be their biggest selling point. It was fabulous and made you very hungry. You can choose from the racks of boutique, speciality for a style of loaf/roll/cob you would like used in making your snack. However, don't be surprised if, by the afternoon, your prefered dough is sold-out.The best part of the visit were the other customers present, who were a strange mix of overly friendly misfits. Staff were helpful and friendly and although very busy the service was quick and efficient and there was very little wait for our fresh food to be prepared. Would definitely recommend this place and you must try the cornish tea, it's delicious.

Not sure of the management logic. I accept that they have a good local trade but it's obvious that they also service a great many regulars who come up on the moor to walk or cycle or play around, perhaps picnic with children or older relatives and that often involves coming in to buy componants or even everything needed for a meal or snack. We came to the door and found another family reading the holiday closure notice. The other family said that they were told at a shop by the roundabout that the bakery had decided 'that it would just be too busy to cope'!What goes on? Not opening for the busiest weeken of the year?

This is a truly fantastic place! The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are all very high quality and the cakes and bread are consistently delightful. We always feel very welcomed here and it is very kid friendly. There is a selection of great books, colouring in books and a few toys and a comfy sofa to relax on.

Had read good reviews about food and is was a very good fresh homity pie when it arrived after 45 minutes wait as it was still in the oven when we ordered at 12.30pm! Cornish tea was lovely, strong and a good flavour. So would try again as very accommodating friendly people but do agree does feel cluttered in there and we were told pie would only be about 10 minutes so perhaps they need to rethink their timings

Nous n'y avons pris qu'un capuccino et un chocolat chaud mais je regardais passer les plats avec envie. Je vous recommande cette endroit construit en palettes. Mon chocolat était absolument delicieux

A real little gem of a find, a must visit, great food in a lovely location but beware it's not a huge place with a huge menu to choose from but what it offers is great food at a great price with real friendly service, this place is certainly going to be a regular haunt.

Its a good little bakery and cafe/coffee/tea shop. It's a bit expensive but not discouragingly so. The interior made from recycled pallets and other wood seems to evolve. Today I noticed the arrival of a slightly odd 45 degree angle glass and wood over the counter usually overloaded with delightful chocolate and cake slices but until now vulnerable to very child's fingers or adults coughing and sneezing. Also even now many months after opening the large flatscreen TV on the wall doesn't show rolling news with subtitles or sport but the now hackneyed speeded up recording of the work converting the interior. The place has a strange feel, an incomplete evolving place but it is friendly and the food is good.

Friends had recommended we try this place which is a small bakery cafe just on the edge of Yelverton next to the Yelverton-Tavistock cycle trail. The cake (tried two types) was very good and the coffee and green tea were too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You can sit outside but the location does not give you a spectacular view. This is still a good spot after cycling up from Plymouth. Note: they don't yet bake loaves but do intend to.

All too often you see "Home made food" signs. Believe me this is home made food that you can see being made. Quality and taste is good and the place is well worth a visit.

We visited the bakery on a Friday afternoon at about 3pm, and absolutely loved it! We all had soup which was delicious, and we also tried their hot chocolates which are made from solid chocolate melted with milk, gorgeous. All food is cooked on site, it is fresh and really well made. Perfectly situated next to the cycle path to Tavistock. It is just a pity they aren't open on Sundays!!! Best cafe I have been to for a LONG time.

We went for pizza the 1st evening while camping and then breakfast the following morning. Amazing food at a good fair price, loads of amazing bike gear and bikes. Lovely atmosphere 👌 great staff, everything cooked fresh.

Came in for Sunday roast and food was 10/10, best roast we have had for quite a while. What lacked was the service. We booked for 3pm and whilst we appreciate we entered at a busy time wrapping up peak time, service received wasn’t great from the off. One particular server seemed to be in quite a mood and was remarkably blunt “no” when we asked questions about getting some extra yorkshires (which we were a bit surprised the pork meal didn’t come with, but our fault for not reading the menu properly!) Plus someone seemed to think it was a great idea to loudly polish/sort out the cutlery at the bar, which was right next to our table, making conversation quite difficult and picked up by all 4 members of our party. Shame as food was amazing and would go back, but service lacked. 3pm bookings just as important as 12pm as all paying the same!

The restaurant was recommended to me and did not disappoint. First class, friendly service and excellent food. The online menu seemed limited but there were plenty of other options on the specials board.
