The best restaurants serving British food in Cheddar and Shipham Sedgemoor South West

It’s not often that I find a cup cake almost as good as when I make them myself, but the cupcakes we purchased were great, fresh, filled and nice amount of topping. Loved the theatre of the cakes being made in the shop. Would almost say as good as magnolia’s in New York

Absolutely great meal with the family. Portion sizes were huge! The quality of food was fabulous too. Lovely owners, who are always considerate of our son who has Autism.

Cafe Gorge offers a dining experience that’s nothing short of delightful. The toastie I had was perfectly crisp with a generous, flavorful filling that kept me full for hours after. Their sweet goods looked just as tempting. A special shoutout goes to Holly, who made our experience unforgettable with her warm demeanor and helpful recommendations. Cafe Gorge is an absolute must-visit in Cheddar for its delicious flavors and cozy warm atmosphere

Lovely little cafe. The food was great as was the service. One of us wanted something that wasn't on the menu and this was happily accommodated.

The options Tripadvisor gave for why we were at Lion Rock were completely inadequate. We had one of the afternoon tea options which comprised sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream and jam and a pot of tea. The tearoom itself is lovely, in middle of Cheddar, the staff were very friendly and service was quick. The afternoon tea itself was delightful, the ham sandwich particularly was excellent, good choice of cakes but the ‘icing on the cake’ were the two scones, some of the best we had ever had with lots of cream and good strawberry jam. Highly recommended.

Great place. Lots of ciders. Local ones if you fancy trying some new and some commercial ones too. Food is simple and hot. If you like eating in Michelin star restaurants then forget it! If you are a normal person looking for sensible priced beer and grub then you will love it!

Went here with my wife and parents and it was an absolute delight! We got cream teas and they were delicious. Service was great and it's a cute quaint little place with lots of decorations and a great ambiance.

We walked into this place, we were being stared down from the moment we walked into the room, staff were rude and laughed when we asked questions about food, rude lady on the was out that gave a condescending goodbye as though we didn’t belong in there. Felt very unwelcoming as a black woman. There was constant staring from staff and customers. I do not recommend!

Had a lush jumbo sausage and chips and a large cod today, the chips were so perfectly cooked and yummy The service was quick and so very friendly… thanks again for your lovely service, Kate!

We stayed in one of the 3 lodges no 11 we booked for the week and we loved it that much we stayed another week we had breakfast in the cafe and Jane looked after us and the food was piping hot the cafe was very busy everyday that we were there and the staff were lovely we did not want to come back

Went for dinner and ended up staying for bed and breakfast. Great food both for breakfast and dinner.

We came to cheddar for the weekend and on Sunday our group of five and two dogs had Sunday roasts and fish and chips ,the food was beautiful and the service was amazing and very friendly ,even my big lump of a dog wasn't a problem for the great team there ! Thankyou and next time we are in the area we will most definitely be back.

The swan inn is a must visit if you are in the area. It makes for the perfect cozy evening by the fire in the winter months and has a gorgeous garden with stunning views in the summer. The pub is beautifully decorated and has a warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff are always wonderful and what’s more the food is outstanding. An all round win. We go out of our way to visit a few times a year, as we are not local but love it so much it’s worth a journey

Had breakfast with santa, there were 7 if us and we all had a fabulous time, the event was well organised and attention to detail was fantastic. Everyone should be really pleased with themselves, as they delivered and more, no body could do enough for you, we had a disabled child and one that has a dairy allergy and they accommodated everything. Well done to all, and we all had a fantastic morning, thank you.

First time here while visiting Cheddar. Staff very helpful and polite. Our food order was quick and looked and tasted great. Usual pub prices. The restaurant is in need of a little tlc but times are hard and it wasn’t a problem.
