Great time at Edelweiss ,very friendly staff, a good choice of food and drinks and it felt homely. A must for any visitors to Cheddar. Good value and ideal spot for tourists and locals alike - fabulous!

Trip to cheddar gorge with a stop at this lovely quaint café. It's rather small inside, but that really adds to its charm. Nice view of the stream. Good service by the staff who were quick to get your order(I guess it gets a bit busy in peak times). Took about 10 minutes to be served and I would recommend the milk shake! Delicious. The brie and cranberry baked potato I thought hmmmm weird, but what a choice, found a new love. Loss of a mark for service as order was wrong for a colleague, but I was happy.

Went today with my husband and our dachshund Milly, the staff were so friendly and polite. They greeted Milly with fusses and a biscuit. The food was AMAZING! Highly recommend coming here.

Lovely little cafe. The food was great as was the service. One of us wanted something that wasn't on the menu and this was happily accommodated.

Just before Christmas we went ,food was excellent, and would go again portions very good indeed and tasty

Although the food wasn't bad, it was overpriced. Service was poor,lad serving had no personality and felt rushed, was hovering for the bill to be paid. Also looked scruffy. Toilets smelt damp and musky.

We cycled to Cheddar. Stopped here for refreshments. Walked in and it was obvious they did not want us to sit inside (we were not dirty). They said we should go to the take away window to order and sit outside. Drinks and teacakes were great but poor attitude by staff. Won’t be going back there.

Sweet calm place, large portions and the quality of the ham and cheese and bread was fab! Just 4 people here in the afternoon in December.

Thought we'd stop in to Cheddar on our way to elsewhere. This was the only place we could find open and thought we'd have a quick bite. Relaxed environment offering table service, the coffee was up to a good standard and the experience only got better when the bacon sarnies came out. Proper farmhouse white with half a pig squeezed into it. Definitely use again if in the area.

We had a lovely Vegetarian breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly. Lovely staff, hard working. Very happy to be here. Have a good day :)!

Poor service, the two boys was unfriendly. Had to ask twice where our drink and food was. Was very basic for what they charge. Well over cooked. Could have gone done my local burger van and got better food and service. Felt extremely let down as we used to go there a lot of our visits to cheddar. But no longer. Over £70.00 spent, could have had a nice meal else where for less. Extremely disappointed ☹️ never go back. When we complain they did nothing to sort it.

The worst scone I had all summer, dry and crumbly.

I went with my family for a nice lunch. I ordered my food and me and my sister has a nut allergy and all the food was cooked in nut oil. The staff were helpful but as it had no signs up. If we didn’t ask we wouldn’t have know. The cook/chef did wipe and clean down. Just strange as no signs about everything is cooked in but oil, even jacket potatoes.

Excellent food, I had the faggots and chips, companions had toasties. Fresh hot and cooked to a T. Lovely place to while away some time with nice drinks and a good menu

Lovely place, good service. Sadly the Roast beef was Dreadful. Dry, overcooked, hard, terrible.. Two bites and went to get food somewhere else..

Have eaten here before several times before and thoughly enjoyed it, this time we were very disappointed. The jacket potato had a watery twang and the bottom skin was bitter where it was burnt.

Called in for a coffee in this very pleasant, light and airy establishment with seating both inside and outside (on the bank of the river). We arrived very late in the afternoon (very close to closing time). but the friendly staff were more than happy to serve us. Our freshly-made coffee was very tasty and we can certainly recommend.

We decided to have a day out in Cheddar, and stopped here for lunch. The food was very good, with prompt service. Reasonable prices and enough choice on the menu. Look forward to visiting again.

Came here on a Sunday intending to have a light lunch, ended up with a roast dinner and sausage and chips. Big plates full of well cooked food. Service super friendly and quick. Highly recommended.

Very nice café. We had scones, clotted cream and jam. The scones were marvellous! Sandwich for £8 a bit steeply priced. Only criticism was the presentation of the food in paper take-away containers when you were sitting outside.

Perfect cafe well cooked food, I had ham and cheddar and pickle sandwich, ham was excellent. My partner had breakfast, loads of food, not a small snack like a meal, mushrooms cooked lovely and all very hot. Gluten free option available.

Had 2 full English breakfasts this morning and I can't fault a single thing about it, everything was on point from the friendly staff, lovely setting next to the river and the food... Probably top 10 breakfasts I've ever had and I've had a more than a few!

I only had tea & toast, so couldn't complain, although my daughter had a full English breakfast, the bacon was dry, the fried potatoes were overcooked, so hard and fried egg was also overcooked, no runny yolk.

I visited here on Sunday been many times before but this time I was really not happy with the service. I ordered brown toastie came on white I ordered white coffee came black had to ask the boy for milk, when I asked him could I please pay the bill he plonked the bill on the table and walked away I did keep saying excuse me but he refused to take any notice. I didn’t ask for the bill I asked to pay. The whole experience wasn't pleasant.

What a great little cafe. I had the full English and an iced coffee, both were delicious! Friendly staff, fast service.

The breakfast was super oily and just salty. No flavour and the cooks spend very little effort or care into the meal. If you're sitting outside on a nice sunny day, it's a weird way of ordering in a separate window and your meal arrives in a cardboard box instead of a plate with real cutlery.

Average place, staff n friendliness. Waiter did not know if the food was vegetarian and was if it was cooked separately, tone fair he did go and find out

Very disappointing ploughman’s . Cheddar says mature but was medium. Pickle instead of chutney, 2 slices of seeded bread which says chunky , it was by no means chunky and came ready buttered , I would have like the butter on the side and all in all over priced .

We visited Cheddar for one night in our motorhome and called here for a quick breakfast before heading onto Glastonbury. So lovely to be able to sit outside in some sunshine! Lovely food and friendly service. Highly recommend 🙂

My FAVORITE CAFE in Cheddar 🤍 (It’s my first time in cheddar and this lovely cafe is something I often visit during my stay!) What can I say? Food, Location, Aesthetic and the Staff were all superb! Staff were so kind, accommodating and welcoming. The food also tasted nice especially the soup, afternoon tea and scones! I highly recommend from my experience for anyone visiting cheddar to try this cafe. Although they are quite busy on weekends during lunchtime and gradually become less busy around 2-3pm. Thank you for all the staff who welcomed us! Continue the good work and the good food 😋

Service and atmosphere is great. Food is mediocre.

Frozen (partly defrosted) scones, supermarket bread and weak tea - a real tourist trap. Order was sent out wrong to us initially. Would have been nice to have some fresh local produce instead.

Absolutely 100% the best bacon sandwiches we have ever had. Bread was light and fluffy and they didn't hold back on the bacon. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere relaxed. Happy to recommend this place to others.

We went as a couple with our 6 month old. Food was lovely and staff were very accommodating. They were so lovely they offered our baby some chocolate buttons and treats, but unfortunately she was too young to eat it! We will definitely be back again

Lovely place go eat, excellent waitress service, really good quality food is served here. They offer a full lunchtime menu, home cooked meals, light meals, afternoon teas and snacks etc. You can eat inside or outside all in all a pleasant experience.

Only passing through briefly this time, but the cooked breakfast and good service together with the ambience means that we will return.

Coffee was awful, I asked for an americano with milk and I got cup of lukewarm milky “coffee”, I brought it back and got a replacement (staff were great). Just not good coffee. Life was too short to drink the replacement either. Hopefully mine was an isolated case, otherwise great.

We were in Cheddar Gorge on a Monday in winter so not a lot was open but this little cafe was open for business and super buzzy. The service was impeccable especially considering we literally walked in at 13:55 and they were closing at 14:00. The didnt turn us away like I expected they sat us down and gave us menus. The service was super friendly considering it was closing time and we still had lunch. A lot of cafe's would have turned us away or begrudgingly served us as the staff want to home. BUt the staff here were so lovely and friendly. The food was good and the atmosphere was lovely. A really decent sized menu for a small cafe with good variety. They had lots of GF options and I believe I saw a coeliac friendly sign on the window so a good choice for anyone GF!

What a great little cafe/restaurant. Immediate pleasant welcome to the table. Prompt order and service. Reasonable prices. Probably more hectic at summer weekends though. A sound family place to eat as we remember it being before fast food overtook us all.

We had breakfast here on a visit and the food was delicious, excellently cooked and plenty of it, service was super friendly and lovely. Would definitely recommend going here.

Admitted two people and dog at the point of closing. Very welcoming and friendly. Food excellent and unhurried. Edelweiss is a serendipity .

We visited the Edelweiss cafe for a quick cream tea and a scone. And there were both perfect. The scone was all buttery and served with a cream and a delicious strawberry jam. The prices were more than reasonable, the place was very clean and the lady that served us was very polite. We totally recommend it if you visit Cheddar.

Coffee was rough, requested Oat flat white, came as americano & question if with oat milk 🤔. Toasted sandwich was poor and cost was very high!

We love this little place, the cream teas are amazing. They have lovely cakes and pastries. The staff are lovely and most importantly the toilet is clean! It's a small place with out door seating and very dog friendly inside and and out. Not much room inside for wheelchairs but the staff are happy to move things around to accommodate you if possible.

Right by the roundabout and car park as you arrive at the foot of the Gorge in a lovely little building is a great little cafe with friendly service, an excellent pot of tea and one of the tastiest ham Cheddar and red onion marmalade toasties with homemade crunchy coleslaw. Don't miss it

I did visit here based on the good reviews I had read. However, I was very disappointed by what I was offered & the service. I was visiting the area on a trip to cheddar gorge & popped in here to grab a quick fulfilling breakfast before heading off for a day of adventure. I was one of the first into the restaurant and I greeted the waitress on shift but was not greeted with a particularly warm welcome. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which was overpriced and greasy. Being the only place open for breakfast at that time, there is an opportunity to really own the space with no competition at that time, but I was left regretting my decision with x2 1/3rds of a pepper fried in oil, potatoes fried in oil, sausages, egg and mushrooms which I’m sure could (and probably were) all fried in one pan. I couldn’t finish it all because of the amount of grease - I can’t say that I have experienced this, however I feel the feel, taste and presentation of the food was what I would expect if I was a trucker passing a rest stop and the food was more for convenience than passion for food. I had a glass of orange juice and an oat milk latte which was pleasant and tasted fresher than the rest of the breakfast. The toilet is a little strange too, being a male / female & baby changing - which I can understand & have no issue with. However, it was not well kept or finished and looked again like something you would find on a rest stop in America on a longer route / highway where there is no competition and through necessity would be chosen to attend. It’s a shame, I would love to commend this place, but the only thing I can say is the coffee was nice & the cakes looked tasty. But other than that, cheap food prepared with little care / quality of presentation and very expensive for what you get. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for nice food, there are plenty of other places that open an hour later (which are worth it when combined with the quality of the food vs convenience).

What a lovely place. The staff were so friendly and the food was deeeelish. It was purely by fluke we went here as we wanted to be sure to get a parking space (2nd time lucky) to visit the amazing Cheddar Gorge and Village, so popped in for a spot of brekkie. I'm so glad we did. What a gem. 10/10.

This is a great lunch place for breakfast, lunch or just a drink and a cake. There is a good variety of hot and cold choices from a full meal to sandwiches. My food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Staff were polite and helpful.
