Came for a meal with friends nice location outside seating could definitely do with an upgrade No Guinness which was disappointing and shandy made with 7up ? Menu choice had a good selection aswell as nice specials Couldn’t fault the food and having a pool table was also great Wanted to have another drink but after waiting for 10 minutes and no staff to be found we decided to leave I would recommend booking as they fill up very quickly

Nothing special, mediocre menu and food. Service was good though. It’s a shame there isn’t a decent outside seating area, it would make a lot of difference.

Fabulous local pub with friendly attentive staff. Delicious fresh food - amazing mushroom and stilton burger and vegan chilli! Kids play park opposite pub and great view to Steart. Dog friendly and also has a pool table and library!

Eloise on the bar and Fae in the kitchen were fantastic. Food was incredible. Great value. Amazing taste. Well worth a visit! Not as good as The Crown in Churchill but a very very close second. Very very very impressed.

Went for a nice lunch today , had a very nice curry they have food available 1200-1430 on a Saturday lunch time, had a good real ale on as well, was nice and warm from a real fire, nice friendly atmosphere, it's dog friendly which is a real plus

We walked down to this very friendly pub again last night from Cannington! We had the beef burger and vegie burger! Both were so tasty and great value, the chips are yummy too. It's also dog friendly which is great.

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT TIME THE KITCHEN CLOSES! This is a regular stop for us when we are in Somerset, but last night they let us down. Arrived at 8.35pm for an 8pm booking as there had been an accident on the M5 and, as we explained, they had been 4 hours+ on a bike from London. We were told the kitchen closes at 8.30pm. That seems a bit early and we were not warned of this when we booked around 6.30pm. The girl on the bar was helpful and went to ask the chef. After 5-10 minutes (not sure why it took so long) she returned to say that the stove was turned off but they could give us fried food. There were not many options, so we left. Also we left partly because we felt like we were causing them trouble rather than them wanting our custom. Not the best service. We took our custom to The Friendly Spirit in nearby Cannington where we got good service.

Stopped here on our circular walk around Steart Marshes. Pleasantly surprised by excellent quality of food and service. Lovely character pub . We enjoyed our generous helpings of food and felt suitably fuelled for the rest of our walk. Great Caesar salad and very nice fries!

Good location with a play park across the road. Average selection of drinks. Beer was kept well. Nice lady behind the bar. Could do with some new outside benches outside.

Lovely refurbished pub on the banks of the Parrot, with a great pool/games room and plenty of parking. We found the drinks quite expensive, but we might not have chosen wisely.

Walked from Cannington along the river! Arrived to a friendly atmosphere and made very welcome. Had a table already booked! Food was delicious and plentiful. We are looking forward to a return visit very soon. Thankyou!

I visited the anchor last Saturday evening with my young family. There was a good choice of food. We had lamb burger, vegan chilli and kids beef burger/ chicken nuggets. The meat was excellent cuts and was well cooked. The chilli was very tasty. The waiter was friendly and gave good advice on the food. They also served pizzas, which are all 'create your own'. Which is a brilliant idea. There was a good family friendly atmosphere, with lots of people sitting outside, with their children making good use of the local park which is directly opposite the pub and in front of the river. We had a great meal at the Anchor highly recommended!

Very disappointed. Booked a table for five people. The only food available, burger or pizza, everything else was not available. I opted for the vegetarian/mushroom burger only to be told that too was off the menu - no mushrooms. The rest of my party had burgers made from two cheap overcooked 2 oz burgers which had no flavour. The chips were either over cooked or soggy. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.

booked Sunday Lunch and what a Sunday Lunch - a carvery with so many vegetable options and everything cooked to perfection (not forgetting the generous amount of meat) The Landlord and his staff were very friendly and the location right next to the River Parrett is perfect. 1st visit and certainly not the last

We read the reviews on trip advisor and gave it a go. Friendly staff admittedly but the menu was really poor, everything deep fried and with chips. I’m gluten free - went for the vegan chilli but none left. They offered to season a bit of chicken and salad but that wasn’t my choice at the time. Ended up with cheesy chips ( which had been in the deep fat fryer with breaded stuff- I knew about that). My husband had dirty fries which was also a total let down. Very dated and a dreadful menu. Sadly we will not go there again.

Good beer at a good price these days, excellent live band. Great night was had by all.

Cracking Sunday lunch was had by all. Would recommend going if you want somewhere different from the norm. And after you've eaten have a walk along the river bank opposite the pub.

Very great restaurant and pub! Because I have been here over around 20 times, I have loved the place a lot, and there were very little to no issues. Since 2014, when I moved to Combwich, I loved the pub and so on. Pro's: • Local business (pretty much non-chained pubs are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) • Great food • Very nice staff (and the bloke who manages it is very nice as well) • You get the idea! Con's: • I don't know, and I don't give a darn whatsoever

We have enjoyed an eight week stay in Somerset, and for three of the Sundays we have gone with friends or family to the Combwich Anchor. We start the day with a walk around the excellent Steart Marshes and then enjoy the reasonably priced and generously portioned carvery. We were always greeted and served by friendly staff. They provided well for our coeliac daughter and vegetarian friend. We will definitely return on our next visit to the area.

Adorable place with great atmosphere

A very friendly welcome and great service. A reasonable choice of dishes on the menu, but we were also offered fish and chips as a special value option - and very nice it was, too. I was a little surprised to see only one cask ale, but it was a reliable one (Doombar). They have a very nice looking extra room with several tables and lots of books. A welcoming place, although the heat from the open fire at one end did not reach the far end of the bar on a chilly January day.

Visited early Friday evening for dinner. Nice atmosphere, very helpful staff. Great pub food. I had the freshly made pizza that was excellent and only £10. My partner had the Bream which was also very good and came with freshly Cooked veggies and nee potatoes. All in all a great pub, with a simple but well served menu. Highly recommended 😊

This is a village pub that was well attended and was pleasantly decorated inside. We were attended to very well and food and drinks were delivered promptly. This was a very pleasant night out.

Great little village pub, really fun quiz on a Tuesday night well worth a visit

Visited with friends last night and really impressed with the meals and the service. We all had starters that were great and then when the main meals came out we were impressed with the size. Two of us had scampi which came with skin on fries peas and a salad. Nothing was too much trouble and would definitely go back

Lovely meal. Plenty of FRESH veggies. Very tasty and good service. Really good plate sizes too. Not little plates making you have to pile everything on top of each other. Good value for money. You can taste the quality of the meat. Well cooked and good rota per table. Definitely recommend.

Straight forward menu, good service, always people in but your not made to feel rushed.

Had Sunday roast as a takeaway and it was fantastic! Very tasty, cooked perfectly with a good selection of veg to go with the meat. Packed up well so that it was still hot when we got home.Maxim and his team are doing a great job in these difficult times, thanks guys!

Although the pub itself is currently closed due to the pandemic restrictions, we have used their takeaway service for fish and chips a few times during the Covid situation. They also offer burgers, scampi, battered sausages, battered halloumi, some side dishes, and various pizzas, which we haven't tried yet, but the fish and chips are freshly cooked and delicious, and even include a lemon wedge! Will definitely be going back again.

Takeaway fish and chips during lockdown. Excellent! Beautifully cooked fish, good portions of chips and REAL onion rings, so many I literally couldn't finish! Homemade tartar sauce is VASTLY superior to shop stuff. I thought Maxim was a great chef when I've eaten in. Turns out he does a great takeaway too!!

How can I start!!! Fantastic service from all the staff, we have visited twice in 2 weeks and both times the food and service has been outstanding! We are 10mins from the pub but this is our new fav place to eat!

I had Red Snapper wife had ham terineBoth high quality,well cooked and served by very friendly staff. Had a really enjoyable meal in welcoming surroundings. A gem of a pub in a great Riverside setting

We ate here for dinner one evening. The welcome was excellent and Matt the owner and Mark the chef were very friendly towards us. A varied menu with an additional specials board. Good food well cooked and a decent choice of wine too. well worth a visit. Nice setting too overlooking the River Parrett.

Visited The Anchor yesterday for a late Sunday lunch.During lockdown this establishment has been beautifully refurbished to encompass Covid 19 guidelines.Our reservation was for 15.30 at which time the place was full and buzzing.Our food was ordered and delivered in good time, front of house was very professional and support staff all very good under very busy conditions.The presentation and quality of our meal prepared by the new chef was truly outstanding and so very different than the average Sunday lunch fare.This venue is under estimated, if you require good service, excellent food and great ambiance in a lovely location, this is the place to try. good job.

Nice evening meal out here with my wife. Good COVID measures in place and the service was good. We both had fish and it was served on beautiful hot plates and wa very tasty.Local beer good too!Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Love it! Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Food is reasonably priced and tastes amazing. Pizza is second to non. Having a park across the road is an added bonus. This is our new regular stop when away from home.

Brilliantly refurbished and the new menu is delicious. Very much recommend 👌 Handling current Covid rules with extreme professionalism. Opened early for surprise private birthday as well. Definitely worth popping in.

Began a walking weekend with a few drinks here. Friendly landlord who offered advice, good value drinks and food, even let me know when I nearly set off without taking my phone out of his charger.

Had a lovely carvery at The anchor inn, the sausage stuffing was amazing. It’s really good for kids as there is a park just across the road. would really recommend checking this place out!!

Such a lovely day at the combwich anchor inn, had a nice walk down the river front and stopped in afterwards. The staff were very friendly, and there was a good atmosphere. They did a great carvery, which was a reasonable price for the plate size. Worth a visit!!

We've spotted the place when cycled pass it and decided to visit it after finishing our ride on Steart marshes. Looked as a real "end of the road" pub, quiet, traditional riverside place. Enjoyed friendly atmosphere and ended up having our meal. Good portions, well cooked, friendly service. I hope that they have their woodburner going in winter as the place can can be a real saver in bad weather. Will definitely visit again.

We thought we would try this pub as it had good reviews. The service was good and the staff friendly. The food was of good quality, nicely cooked and hot with good proportions.The only downside was the condition of the dining area which was not the cleanest with part of it used for storage and the décor and furniture very dated and in need of a full refurb.Probably won't go again.
