We shared a meal here with colleagues. The location is great being on the outskirts of Bridgwater, and the building looks and feels like a 'proper' country pub, inside and out. Staff are friendly and efficient, and we all enjoyed our meals. Good selection of local beers and the food menu changes regularly.

Exceptional Stay at The Bower Inn - A True Home Away from Home We had the pleasure of staying at The Bower Inn in Bridgwater over the weekend, and it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the hotel manager's professionalism set the tone for our stay. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel like we were returning to an old friend’s home rather than checking into a hotel. One of the highlights for us was how warmly our cocker spaniel, Zero, was received. The team went above and beyond to make him feel welcome, and he absolutely adored his morning sausages—a thoughtful touch that really made his day (and ours!). Our room was beautiful, with lovely homely touches like a coffee cafetière, which made all the difference. It was clear that a lot of care went into designing the rooms to feel both luxurious and comfortable. It was a perfect blend of style and warmth that made it easy to unwind and truly relax. The food was another highlight of our stay. Every meal was a delight, with each dish showcasing exceptional quality and taste. Dining at The Bower Inn was an experience in itself, and it added so much to our weekend. In short, The Bower Inn is a gem of a hotel. If you’re looking for a stay that combines warmth, professionalism, and true hospitality with a touch of luxury, look no further. We will definitely be back, and we’re already looking forward to seeing Zero enjoy his next breakfast treat!

Fabulous stay again. We always stay at The Bower Inn when visiting relatives in Bridgwater. Warm welcome and doggy friendly, rooms are so homely and comfortable, especially room 6 ! Fab walk in shower. The food is excellent, and menu has changed every time I have stayed which is refreshing. The muddy Paws 🐾 deals are a fabulous way to go if you have a pooch that likes to travel with you. The only downside on this visit was the roadwork going on near the bath road entrance to bower lane , but The Bower in advance let us know this change and how to navigate the other end of bower lane from Westonzoyland Road entrance. Will be visiting again in spring of 2025 . Fabulous team as not many of them has changed in all my visits , just goes to show they are happy in their work xxx

I cant believe this place is award winning, food is terrible. Long drive with my kids, we all opted for burgers - you can't really go wrong with gourmet burgers. You can here, they were terrible! Dry and overcooked, no real garnish, just poor. My daughters was so badly cooked she just couldn't eat it so I took it back. They offered her something else and she went for pasta. 5 minutes later they rocked up with a dish even worse than the burgers. Some pasta literally mixed up with some tinned tomato. Staggering!

Really nice country pub which was perfect for us staying at a lodge a few miles away. I had the haddock and chips which was nice, other had the Sunday roasts. We had the table just by the cooking and serving area but were a party of 5 so maybe they don't have larger tables in the main bar. Apply for the Butcome Loyalty and go for a meal after 15:00 if you can make it so you get 3 courses for the price of 2.

We travelled from Hampshire to meet some friends from Cornwall, and Bridgwater is roughly equidistant. Rooms were extremely comfortable and well-equipped. Food and drinks were excellent (although perhaps there could have been a greater choice of starters), and the staff were consistently friendly, professional and helpful. The location is semi-rural, although on the verge of being wrapped into new housing - the work for which has made access to The Bower a challenge, especially for first time visitors (our taxi driver from Bridgwater Station said he had got lost on his way to the pub the previous evening because of a new diversion, and our friends from Cornwall had to ask some locals for directions despite seemingly following the diversion signs). But it was worth it when we got there, and we’ll be back.

This is a lovely cosy pub with rooms which is extremely good value if you sign up to the loyalty scheme. The rooms were more spacious than we anticipated and well away from the bar so nice and quiet. They were very clean and had little touches like fresh milk and biscuits. The mattress was quite soft and the pillows are very soft - not very supportive at all. The shower had a big shower head but a poor flow. We enjoyed our meal but the service was a bit haphazard. Dogs are allowed in the eating area and our meal was spoiled by dogs whining at each other - I would really have liked a separate area. The breakfast was very good, but the coffee needs improvement. This pub is very handy for the M5.

The very friendly bar staff said we could sit, have a drink or even lunch and as soon as the room was available they would let us know. This is what we did and soon we were told we could go to our lovely room. Very easy access for less abled people like me. The very large ground floor room was spotless , very well equipped with comfy beds , nicely furnished and the softest towels . Our lunch was great, served efficiently , nicely cooked and presented. Dinner that evening was excellent. Tasty , well cooked and filling. This child and dog friendly inn was good value, convenient , with free parking as a bonus. Came here with family for lunch and certainly not disappointed! The staff are super friendly and helpful. We didn't wait long at all to be seated, for drinks or for food. Prices are reasonable and lots of food options for vegetarians as well as for pescetarians. Also the option of a lighter meal. Setting is really lovely (looks although there would be an even better atmosphere at night). Very clean. Food was incredible. Couldn't fault a thing. It was nice that you can see through to the kitchen (there are actually 2 large tables directly next to the kitchen and these are also very close to the toilet so good for accessibility). Many options for drinks. Optional 10% service charge is added to the bill - the staff really do deserve a tip! Will definitely return!!

The service was very good so I am pleased to say I am booked again to go with a friend. Visited for an anniversary dinner and had a really poor meal. We visited off the back of very positive TripAdvisor reviews so we were quite disappointed. They'd run out of various things including mushrooms and the steak main. Ordered foccacia which was the worst "foccacia" we've ever had - burnt and really dry with barely any rosemary. Then mains arrived - dry pork with no sauce (such as apple sauce) and some fairly tasteless chicken thighs. Overcooked chips. Really disappointing food. Wouldn't recommend for a special occasion.

Our bedroom was great with plenty of space and comfortable bed. Surprisingly quiet given its proximity to the motorway.

Start with the positive. Food quality was very good and beer selection was great. Unfortunately that's as far as the positive went. Eight of us went to celebrate father's day, 16.06.24. We arrived just before 6pm. We were seated bang on 6pm. We were left to ourselves for 20 minutes before drinks orders were taken. Once orders were taken a further 25 minutes went by before starters arrived at approximately 6:45. Starters arrived staggered, a solid 5 minutes gap between the first two of us getting our starters before the rest of us received the rest. Starters finished second order for drinks taken just after 7pm. Drinks arrived a further 15 minutes later. Waited a further 20 minutes no mains had arrived. My wife then asked when the mains would arrive. The mains appeared 2 minutes after this question was asked oddly enough. Again mains came out very staggered. No new cutlery was brought to the table from the starters until we had to ask. The same repeated for the desserts service. If it wasn't a 3 course for two offer we would have just passed the desserts course paid up and left. Overall food was good but service was extremely poor. It really let the evening down, especially when the cost of the food is certainly at the top end of the scale. It came across as though they were very short staffed. The same two waitresses were dealing with all the tables in the room we were in. The restaurant was also far from full too. The management did knock a round of drinks off the bill after these issues were raised. Just a shame it had to result in this. This is our second visit, first visit was similar back last year but we gave it the benefit of doubt. However after this evening we won't be visiting again therefore cannot recommend. A real shame because the pub and the surroundings are very pleasant. Improvement in service times is definitely required. 3 stars was given due to the food quality being very good. Otherwise a 2 star rating would have been better suited.

Superb atmosphere, the best steak I’ve had in my life! (10oz fillet) chef was so down to earth and welcoming - showed us different cuts of steak and told us about their source. Went above and beyond for service - orders taken quickly and all staff friendly and polite. Felt a very cosy and happy little village pub. Will definitely be back for more steak and the fresh salad bowls that come with it! :) Thank you so much ☺️
