Came here with family for lunch and certainly not disappointed! The staff are super friendly and helpful. We didn't wait long at all to be seated, for drinks or for food. Prices are reasonable and lots of food options for vegetarians as well as for pescetarians. Also the option of a lighter meal. Setting is really lovely (looks although there would be an even better atmosphere at night). Very clean. Food was incredible. Couldn't fault a thing. It was nice that you can see through to the kitchen (there are actually 2 large tables directly next to the kitchen and these are also very close to the toilet so good for accessibility). Many options for drinks. Optional 10% service charge is added to the bill - the staff really do deserve a tip! Will definitely return!!

Had a meal at the Bower Inn yesterday. I have had the lamb koftas before, which are good, but decided to try the beer battered fish and chips. They were lovely and my brother in law also had the fish and chips which he said was one of the best he.had eaten (which as he lives by the sea is praise indeed). The service was very good so I am pleased to say I am booked again to go with a friend. The weather was lovely but not warm enough to eat out, but there were plenty of people enjoying drinks in the garden.

The Bower Inn was particularly chosen for its proximity to the M5 motorway (“which was ideal and far enough away from it to avoid the road noise BUT enabled us to have an easy route home to the South West of Cornwall”); The Inn was viewed Online before our choice was made, and it did not disappoint- ‘the rooms were spotless, and the bed ensured that I received a very comfortable and restful nights sleep. The food, which we enjoyed in the evening and for breakfast was really enjoyable and of good quality. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the experience would encourage a return.

Visited for an anniversary dinner and had a really poor meal. We visited off the back of very positive TripAdvisor reviews so we were quite disappointed. They'd run out of various things including mushrooms and the steak main. Ordered foccacia which was the worst "foccacia" we've ever had - burnt and really dry with barely any rosemary. Then mains arrived - dry pork with no sauce (such as apple sauce) and some fairly tasteless chicken thighs. Overcooked chips. Really disappointing food. Wouldn't recommend for a special occasion.

Waited a long while to be offered a drink, food took a while to come but was delicious, had to prompt the waiter for dessert orders. Start with the positive. Food quality was very good and beer selection was great. Unfortunately that's as far as the positive went. Eight of us went to celebrate father's day, 16.06.24. We arrived just before 6pm. We were seated bang on 6pm. We were left to ourselves for 20 minutes before drinks orders were taken. Once orders were taken a further 25 minutes went by before starters arrived at approximately 6:45. Starters arrived staggered, a solid 5 minutes gap between the first two of us getting our starters before the rest of us received the rest. Starters finished second order for drinks taken just after 7pm. Drinks arrived a further 15 minutes later. Waited a further 20 minutes no mains had arrived. My wife then asked when the mains would arrive. The mains appeared 2 minutes after this question was asked oddly enough. Again mains came out very staggered. No new cutlery was brought to the table from the starters until we had to ask. The same repeated for the desserts service. If it wasn't a 3 course for two offer we would have just passed the desserts course paid up and left. Overall food was good but service was extremely poor. It really let the evening down, especially when the cost of the food is certainly at the top end of the scale. It came across as though they were very short staffed. The same two waitresses were dealing with all the tables in the room we were in. The restaurant was also far from full too. The management did knock a round of drinks off the bill after these issues were raised. Just a shame it had to result in this. This is our second visit, first visit was similar back last year but we gave it the benefit of doubt. However after this evening we won't be visiting again therefore cannot recommend. A real shame because the pub and the surroundings are very pleasant. Improvement in service times is definitely required. 3 stars was given due to the food quality being very good. Otherwise a 2 star rating would have been better suited.

To be fair, this is a very picturesque pub on the outskirts of Bridgewater, nicely appointed inside with plenty of parking. I can't comment on the rooms, as we only eat in there. Sadly, that's where the good stuff ends, on arrival our drinks order was taken, I ordered a Coke and was told they do Pepsi, that's fine, almost the same, it then stated as long as it's proper Pepsi, to be told they only do Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max. Why would a proper pub not sell proper Pepsi, just the stuff laced with aspartame, which I have severe reactions to. More to the point, why is a pub making the no sugar decisions for me? Frankly, had I not been with a colleague, I'd have gone elsewhere. We sat down, with my glass of tap water, and looked at the menu. All very nice sounding if a little pretentious. I ordered from the specials board, a Korean Chicken burger. Generally you'll expect a chicken burger to be made with chicken breast unless otherwise stated, it had a funny taste and the meat was very brown, so I'm going to assume it was thigh meat, bit breast, I left some of it as it simply didn't taste good. I needed to have something to take the taste away, so I had the chocolate brownie with black cherry sorbet, which I will say was very nice, but I should hole so for £7.75 for a thin sliver of brownie and one scoop of sorbet. Lovely looking place that sadly doesn't live up to it's potential. service was pretty good being fair to all there on the night. These chain pubs that make decisions to scrap proper Coke and Pepsi need to give their heads a wobble. Don't think we'll be back.

Stayed at The Bower Inn, Bridgwater for a work related trip. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was stocked with everything you could need including special touches like homemade biscuits! The toiletries were very useful too. Would recommend this hotel

Poor service, the two boys was unfriendly. Had to ask twice where our drink and food was. Was very basic for what they charge. Well over cooked. Could have gone done my local burger van and got better food and service. Felt extremely let down as we used to go there a lot of our visits to cheddar. But no longer. Over £70.00 spent, could have had a nice meal else where for less. Extremely disappointed ☹️ never go back. When we complain they did nothing to sort it.

Typically displaying that their heart and sole as a village Baker and despite being closed during the current lockdown situation they turned out on Good Friday and delivered free hot cross buns to villagers. These buns were welcome and deliciously bakery fresh. Thank you to you all.

Superb atmosphere, the best steak I’ve had in my life! (10oz fillet) chef was so down to earth and welcoming - showed us different cuts of steak and told us about their source. Went above and beyond for service - orders taken quickly and all staff friendly and polite. Felt a very cosy and happy little village pub. Will definitely be back for more steak and the fresh salad bowls that come with it! :) Thank you so much ☺️

This was the worst meal any of us ever had we can not recommend the place cream in scones where off the sandwiches where stale salad was past it’s best coffee was bitter definitely not a place to spend a nice afternoon
