Stayed for the North Petherton Carnival. Finding the place was tricky due to road closures due to a building development and the website instructions are only helpful if you know the area. Booked a superior room but were allocated a mini self caterjng apartment with mini kitchen, overlooked fields but TV in lounge area meant watching in bed not possible. Fresh milk in fridge would have been nice. Good shower cubicle and decent toiletries. We didn't eat but breakfast was nice even with the £4.50 supplement for full English.

Lovely spot for lunch. Very cosy with log fire in restaurant area. The young lady who served us was really kind and friendly, lunch (BLT and Smoked Haddock Rarebit) was delicious. Only downside was finding it! Apparently this happens to new visitors all the time. May I politely suggest that a note is made on your website, on Tripadvisor, and also if people ring in to book. Maybe also a sign from the main roundabout coming towards Bridgwater. This would save a lot of time wasting and stress. Otherwise a great experience and highly recommended.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay here, comfortable room with great shower with deep bath, nice touches like filter coffee and a little flask for fresh milk, food was delicious and reasonably priced with a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. The staff were all pleasant and helpful and nothing was a problem. The only issue for me was the service charge which was added to the final bill (on line check out) without being given prior notice, however this was sorted out by the morning staff without a problem when I questioned it, thank you for a lovely stay 😊

This was a happy accident find the night before attending a nearby wedding. One of the best inn’s that we’ve stayed at. Warm and friendly welcome. Well equipped room and peaceful nights sleep. Exceptional Stay at The Bower Inn - A True Home Away from Home We had the pleasure of staying at The Bower Inn in Bridgwater over the weekend, and it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the hotel manager's professionalism set the tone for our stay. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel like we were returning to an old friend’s home rather than checking into a hotel. One of the highlights for us was how warmly our cocker spaniel, Zero, was received. The team went above and beyond to make him feel welcome, and he absolutely adored his morning sausages—a thoughtful touch that really made his day (and ours!). Our room was beautiful, with lovely homely touches like a coffee cafetière, which made all the difference. It was clear that a lot of care went into designing the rooms to feel both luxurious and comfortable. It was a perfect blend of style and warmth that made it easy to unwind and truly relax. The food was another highlight of our stay. Every meal was a delight, with each dish showcasing exceptional quality and taste. Dining at The Bower Inn was an experience in itself, and it added so much to our weekend. In short, The Bower Inn is a gem of a hotel. If you’re looking for a stay that combines warmth, professionalism, and true hospitality with a touch of luxury, look no further. We will definitely be back, and we’re already looking forward to seeing Zero enjoy his next breakfast treat!

Fabulous stay again. We always stay at The Bower Inn when visiting relatives in Bridgwater. Warm welcome and doggy friendly, rooms are so homely and comfortable, especially room 6 ! Fab walk in shower. The food is excellent, and menu has changed every time I have stayed which is refreshing. The muddy Paws 🐾 deals are a fabulous way to go if you have a pooch that likes to travel with you. The only downside on this visit was the roadwork going on near the bath road entrance to bower lane , but The Bower in advance let us know this change and how to navigate the other end of bower lane from Westonzoyland Road entrance. Will be visiting again in spring of 2025 . Fabulous team as not many of them has changed in all my visits , just goes to show they are happy in their work xxx

I cant believe this place is award winning, food is terrible. Long drive with my kids, we all opted for burgers - you can't really go wrong with gourmet burgers. You can here, they were terrible! Dry and overcooked, no real garnish, just poor. My daughters was so badly cooked she just couldn't eat it so I took it back. They offered her something else and she went for pasta. 5 minutes later they rocked up with a dish even worse than the burgers. Some pasta literally mixed up with some tinned tomato. Staggering!

We booked a three night stay in a superior double. Room was a great size with king size bed and sofa area. The rooms were promised with a roll-top bath - perfect for us after walking Cheddar Gorge. Food was fantastic at breakfast and dinner and we enjoyed some nice wines and beers too. Cocktails were a bit hit and miss and staff really don’t have the time / facilities to prepare these with everything else they were doing. Would highly recommend a stay here but there were two improvements that can be made. The bathroom fans are so noisy - we used the bathroom mirror light rather than turn the lights and therefore fan on. Our neighbours didn’t at hearing theirs at 4.30 in the morning was irritating. Secondly the promised roll top bath was not present and we got a ‘Japanese’ bath instead - like a water tank. Not great for a 6’3 man. When this was raised all we got was ‘oh yes the photos haven’t been updated yet’ This real does need to be sorted as it’s false advertising. Otherwise though a good stay

Really nice country pub which was perfect for us staying at a lodge a few miles away. I had the haddock and chips which was nice, other had the Sunday roasts. We had the table just by the cooking and serving area but were a party of 5 so maybe they don't have larger tables in the main bar. We travelled from Hampshire to meet some friends from Cornwall, and Bridgwater is roughly equidistant. Rooms were extremely comfortable and well-equipped. Food and drinks were excellent (although perhaps there could have been a greater choice of starters), and the staff were consistently friendly, professional and helpful. The location is semi-rural, although on the verge of being wrapped into new housing - the work for which has made access to The Bower a challenge, especially for first time visitors (our taxi driver from Bridgwater Station said he had got lost on his way to the pub the previous evening because of a new diversion, and our friends from Cornwall had to ask some locals for directions despite seemingly following the diversion signs). But it was worth it when we got there, and we’ll be back.

This is a lovely cosy pub with rooms which is extremely good value if you sign up to the loyalty scheme. The rooms were more spacious than we anticipated and well away from the bar so nice and quiet. They were very clean and had little touches like fresh milk and biscuits. The mattress was quite soft and the pillows are very soft - not very supportive at all. The shower had a big shower head but a poor flow. We enjoyed our meal but the service was a bit haphazard. Dogs are allowed in the eating area and our meal was spoiled by dogs whining at each other - I would really have liked a separate area. The breakfast was very good, but the coffee needs improvement. This pub is very handy for the M5.

Dinner that evening was excellent. Tasty , well cooked and filling. This child and dog friendly inn was good value, convenient , with free parking as a bonus. Prices are reasonable and lots of food options for vegetarians as well as for pescetarians. Also the option of a lighter meal. Setting is really lovely (looks although there would be an even better atmosphere at night). Very clean. Food was incredible. Couldn't fault a thing. It was nice that you can see through to the kitchen (there are actually 2 large tables directly next to the kitchen and these are also very close to the toilet so good for accessibility). Many options for drinks. Optional 10% service charge is added to the bill - the staff really do deserve a tip! Will definitely return!!

They'd run out of various things including mushrooms and the steak main. Ordered foccacia which was the worst "foccacia" we've ever had - burnt and really dry with barely any rosemary. Then mains arrived - dry pork with no sauce (such as apple sauce) and some fairly tasteless chicken thighs. Overcooked chips. Really disappointing food. Wouldn't recommend for a special occasion.

This was the worst meal any of us ever had we can not recommend the place cream in scones where off the sandwiches where stale salad was past it’s best coffee was bitter definitely not a place to spend a nice afternoon
