Very kind waiters, the food was delicious and outstanding! Very clean toilets and everything was to expectations.

Lovely pub,very busy as the food is top quality. Booking is highly recommended as it's very popular.

Weird starter chorizo prawns in a sauce with a couple of wilted spinach leaves wtaf Got the order wrong we asked for lamb got beef Beef tough overcooked, awful cauliflower cheese mostly flour little cheese, broccoli was yellow ffs should have been binned, carrots dry, old roast potatoes not fresh no greens Honestly pretty rank It’s not difficult to cook well. It annoys me that people get it so wrong. Love what you do and do it well or do something else. Care about it and make an effort. I understand the economics at the moment are tough but come on guys

Tasty food, great staff, wonderful beer garden. We have always liked The Star and have tried to support the various owners over the years. We popped in here on a sunny Saturday afternoon and we were really impressed with the food, staff and beer garden. Clearly they are trying to make the full potential of this venue work and we wish them all the very best. From a quick drink to ordering food and extra drinks, we had a lovely couple of hours in the garden. Plenty of parking, a reasonable tasty menu, dog friendly and great staff…. We will be back!

The Star in Watchet, beautiful friendly pub, serving well cooked and presented simple food, highly recommended and Jason the manager was so accommodating and welcoming- highly recommend if your in the area for some straightforward meals, pub is friendly and we'll situated in the middle of town

Just had the most outstanding roast here with all my family! I'm so fussy with roast dinners, but here there is literally nothing to criticise. Inventive, quality produce, beautifully cooked and presented with fabulous service. If you haven't been yet, do it! you won't regret it! FIVE BIG STARS

We booked for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ahead. Warmly greeted on arrival , we were seated at a table near the kitchen. It’s a shame that you can’t look over the larger dining room anymore . There is a Sunday menu which offers plenty of choice. I had the King Prawn and Chorizo as a starter which was extremely tasty , maybe the sauce could have been a little thicker and a slice of bread would help with the sauce. Three of us had the roast turkey which was delicious, plenty of meat. The vegetables were cooked nicely , our meals came with an individual pot of gravy which was lovely. Good crispy roast potatoes were well received. The ‘whimsical’ pork option was also very well received. Empty plates all round. One of the party is gluten free, nothing was too much trouble to research and identify any issues. Two courses on Sunday is £25 which given what we had was really good value. Table service throughout was brilliant and friendly. Two had desserts ,the profiteroles and ice cream . There was a misunderstanding with the ticket in the kitchen as we had to chase up the order after a lengthy wait, however this was quickly resolved. Really enjoyed our visit , will definitely be back soon and would definitely recommend. Dog friendly and large car park .

Found this place by accident and glad we did. Although it was quite busy on our visit the staff were friendly, drinks and food fairly priced. We both really enjoyed the fish and chips with fish shop trimmings of pickled onion, gherkin, peas, tartar sauce and curry sauce at £16.50. Elderly mother couldn’t finish hers but staff happy to provide recyclable carton and foil to take some home

Called in on 22nd of January as a stop off before collecting family from Bristol Airport. Welcomed at the bar by Luke who's an excellent host, cheerful and friendly. Food was also top notch, steak with blue cheese sauce and a really awesome burger which included some ham hock. Lovely. Two good desserts. Don't know if we will visit again but can't fault the pub, bar, food and another special mention for Luke. Excellent visit.

Popped in on the way past at about 7:30 on a Friday night looking for food and a drink. We're given a table immediately in an almost full restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Our mains were about £15 each. We were offered 3 courses for £20 but didn't have the time. Will definitely call again on future journeys. Went for my Fathers 90th birthday. The food and service was excellent. They managed to cater individually for a member of the family who has celliac disease and a vegetarian option. They made us very welcome and did not mind that we bought along our young puppy and 7 month old baby. Cannot recommend this establishment enough. Nothing was too much trouble and the helpful friendly welcome we received made the day for my Dad even more special. Thank you. Sally Escott

Lovely place one of the best Sunday roasts I have had from a pub. Staff very friendly and although quite full the sound wasn't over powering so my elderly Mother could still hear everyone

So impressed with the roast. Great veggie option and the staff are so accommodating. Been here a fair few times and standard always great.

We first visited approximately 5 years ago, we were pleasantly surprised, it was fresh & vibrant. Not so on this visit. Rather than the fresh pine, we were meant with dark grey austere paintwork, which benefit from a good dust. The dining furniture is showing considerable wear & tear, the chrome being dated. Staff are great, friendly & attentive, the food was tasty & enjoyable. Not sure we will dine there again.

We randomly picked this pub/restaurant out as it was on our way to Bristol Airport. We were all very impressed with food , ambiance & hospitality. The food was outstanding all for a reasonable price. The landlord was very convivial & made us very welcome. The curry was lovely & very generous as was all the food we ordered. The ploughman’s our friends had was the best I’ve ever seen . Pity this place isn’t close to us as we would be using this more often.

Came with family for a Sunday roast. I checked if there were vegan options and was told the chef was vegan and so had high hopes. The only option was roast beetroot wellington with vegetables and gravy minus the cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding that the others had. It was very bland, they had run out of mint sauce and I felt it was poor value compared to other pub roasts I’ve enjoyed. The roast potatoes tasted funny like they’d been cooked in dripping but I was assured it was vegetable oil. I’m still not sure, the taste was unpleasant. No dessert options when I asked. My family also felt their roast meal wasn’t as good as at other pubs. The service was very good, lovely staff. The pub is in a beautiful location with lovely views if eating outside. The interior is rather basic given the potential of this very old pub. Plenty of car parking spaces.

Wow, so glad we missed a turning and ended up here! What was meant to be a drink, snack and wee stop turned into a full-on lunch. Food (all cooked to order) was delicious and the staff friendly and welcoming. Warning: bring a big appetite with you - we had to take some of ours home in a doggy bag. We took a chance as it was close to a beautiful walk. Without a doubt the best Vegetarian wellington around. All our roast dinners were cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Very friendly staff too, we will be back.

Landlord is very welcoming and genuine. You can feel the passion he has for this pub and the customers. Good selection of drinks. Nice to see supporting local businesses. Now the important bit...the food. The menu is just enough options for all. And what they do is impeccable. I used the words amazing to describe my beef cob french dip style. The hubby had ham, egg and chips...may be simple but with top quality produce and cooked perfectly you cannot ask for more. We will absolutely be returning in the near future.

My husband and I came here for the first time during our stay in Cheddar. Although the pub itself is dated and needs modernisation, it was reassuringly quiet and calm inside compared to the busyness of the restaurants in Cheddar Gorge. The staff were very polite and welcoming. The food was lovely. My husband had the ribeye steak and it was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I had the vegetarian burger with a gluten free bun (I have a gluten intolerance) and fries. I did enjoy my food, the chips especially, but the burger wasn't amazing. I would have liked to have had more choice in terms of gluten free and vegetarian options. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Star because the quality of the food is very good.

Came for a Sunday lunch on a whim and it was absolutely stunning! The roast was probably one of the best we’ve eaten out in the area, portions were of a very good size and meat cooked perfectly. Welcoming atmosphere and staff, would recommend and definitely go back!

Excellent spot for food and a drink Lovely garden area to relax in the sunshine and eat delicious food I unfortunately fell nearby injuring my ankle made it back to the pub where the owner kindly fetched me ice for my ankle and offered to drive me back to our campsite nearby. Very grateful

Lovely welcome and a lovely sit in the garden for a while using the drone and being observed by Freddie with a pint Inside the staff were exceptionally friendly and I had amazing meal of Lamb Rump , with pressed Lamb and roasted vegetables Great couple of hours and will go again. Might take the Mrs !

Arrived at around 1345 Bar staff v friendly Would have changed a drink as we added to much lemonade to the wine. Carvery was excellent loads of meat and Veg All in all 10/10 well done team

Stopped here for lunch en route to the airport & couldn’t have been happier. Delicious, well presented food, much better than your average ‘pub grub’, more restaurant quality but at excellent value. Really friendly staff & great service. The only reason I put 3 stars for atmosphere is that it was really quiet as it was a Thursday but I imagine it gets busy at weekends. Definitely recommend!

Lovely pub, we visited for a late lunch on way to airport. Menu was typical pub grub with some specials daily. Food was delicious, very generous portion size and the most amazing chips. Delicious. Very friendly service too. Good size outdoor seating area away from the road. It was quiet when we visited so can’t comment on atmosphere in general but it was a lovely sunny day so we made use of the outdoor space. Will definitely re-visit.

Despite being local for many years, we hadn't eaten here before. We had vegetarian courses and the food was surprisingly good. Quite large portions - a bit too large really - and well cooked. The service from the dedicated young staff was a cut above. The decor wasn't really to my taste, reminding me of the eighties, but I'd be happy to eat here again.

Probably one of the best roasts I've eaten in a long time.. beautifully presented. Huge Yorkshire filled with meat. ( I had beef) . It's not a carvery but you don't go hungry.. generously filled plates of meat and crispy roast potato's. Separate sharing platter of other veg and the cheesiest cauliflower cheese.. individual pots of thick meaty gravy... its an absolute delight 😊 Plenty of free parking and helpful staff.. I'd give it 6 stars tbh.

My brother and I popped in to The Star for a bite to eat on the way back from Bristol Airport, encouraged by its many excellent reviews, and I'm very glad we did. The Butcombe Original ale was very welcome, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was simply superb, and quite reasonably priced. We will definitely return the next time we're passing.

The Star at Star is our new favourite local. Absolutely brilliant menu, with the biggest, bestest ploughman's you're going to see and done well kept beers Dog friendly too. Recommended.

Stopped in here on the way back from Bristol airport to get some much needed food. I had a ploughman’s which was wonderful. My partner had ham, eggs and chips, which were also wonderful. I would highly recommend this pub for its food. It was late afternoon on a Saturday so it was quiet in there.

What an excellent find! We were looking for an evening meal and happened upon this gem. The host was very welcoming, the food was wonderful - we had a main, a pudding and drinks, and there's parking too. Highly recommended.

Excellent service with a smile and very attentive nothing was too much trouble. 3 of us had the turkey,leek and mushroom pie. Absolutely lovely and very big portions. We are definitely going back. We also had a pudding and a couple of coffees. Good value.

The minuet we entered a friendly young mam showed us to our table we were told everything was cooked fresh and if we wanted to make any slite changes they would be happy to do so. All six meals arrived at the same time, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The owner is obviously trying hard to make this pub work.

Celebration with 10 friends. Food order was very diverse but all arrived on time and together. Terrific atmosphere, clean and friendly.

We were a family of 6 eating out for lunch. Delicious food, brilliant service. Genuinely blown away by the place. Can’t fault any of it. Reasonably priced as well.

We were going for a walk and we asked to book a table for Sunday lunch. We asked if we could park in the car park and they said absolutely fine. We turned up at 1:45 and they said everything is okay. Can we have the table we had three dogs as well they put us in an area that was absolutely lovely and clean. The food was incredible tasty, hot and lots of it. Cauliflower cheese to die for wood would advise anyone to try it as I think it had a bad reputation years ago but the new landlord has certainly changed it and we will be going again. This is the third time we’ve been here.

We visited here again for an early evening dinner and what can I say, absolutely lovely smart clean premises. Very good atmosphere and very friendly and polite and welcoming staff. The choice of meals are excellent and well priced. All of the food is absolutely delicious and first class. Well worth a visit and I would definitely recommend The Star 🌟.
