Had a lush jumbo sausage and chips and a large cod today, the chips were so perfectly cooked and yummy The service was quick and so very friendly… thanks again for your lovely service, Kate!

Restaurant and takeaway options, we ate in the restaurant. Very clean. Staff were friendly and the large cod was to die for. Would definitely come again.

Great service and great food, the 2 ladies on at noon on Wednesday were very pleasant and polite, and the pea fritter was delicious with chips.

Stopped for a sit down fish and chips and pot of tea after a very rainy walk. The fish (large cod) was superb - perfect batter and the chip portions were generous. Staff were very friendly and we will hopefully be back there again very soon.

Delicious and tasty food from Tuckers, we camp near by and send across an order from fish and chips to burgers and all of the campers in advance. Every person said how good the food was. Great customer service and yummy food, would highly recommend and we will be back next year thank you 😊

Ordered up 2 meals for takeaway. Staff were really friendly but totally overwhelmed I think with the amount of orders. Waited 25 mins for food - which was fine - better to be fresh. Drive back to our place and the batter was not good, just loads of bits, some hard some soggy. I ordered cheesy chips and the cheese was like rubber. The curry sauce was cracking tbf. Not a local and maybe it was a bad day. Staff were nice though.

We regularly go to Tuckers on a regular basis. But today, we received Garlic mushrooms instead of Scampi. We assumed that the scampi source had changed, but after further investigation, it was mushroom, which I'm not a fan of. More attention needs to be paid to the order.

Having used this chippy for years i find it really confusing & hard to believe some of the very negative reviews, when ever were in cheddar which is probably a dozen times a year we really look forward to some first class fish chips & curry sauce and were never disappointed, staff are always welcoming food always piping hot and cooked to perfection, the added bonus for us the pub opposite, on the rocks allows you to take your food onto there premises to enjoy with a pint or two and enjoy the view, two excellent businesses helping each other increase trade , keep up the good work

Ordered chips and curry sauce, it wasn’t edible. Lovely staff but unfortunately going have to pass in future. Going to have to give a 2/5 star rating.

If you want good food well priced, this is a great place. The fish and chips were huge and delicious and the staff very friendly and welcoming.

Came here after googling it as the one in Wells only had 4 stars and the Cheddar had 4.5. Staff lovely and friendly, service very quick. We had 3x cod and chips. Cod was a bit greasy and chips was OK. Good value for money. Easy to park.

Considering we ordered a small meal, this should not have taken nearly half an hour. Would have been quicker if the staff weren't on their phones ignoring customers. Food was nice just could have done with better service.

Excellent place, we had a day out and ended up having an early dinner in Tucker's. The service was brilliant, they accommodated my dietary requirements to avoid me eating elsewhere,so I ended up having a dinner with my family. The staff was really understanding, very polite,the place was clean and the food was perfect. This isn't the first time we are eating there whilst visiting Cheddar and it, certainly won't be the last time,thank you so very much,guys,you are brilliant ❤️

Over an hour’s wait for takeaway food, total mess up with the order resulting in no food at all which the young people serving found funny and when I questioned this I got told to f**k off and get out of the shop. Threatening behaviour and verbal abuse towards customers should not be tolerated but it appears it’s the norm here as when approached with complaint the manageress was useless. Absolutely shocking, avoid at all costs

Absolutely awful experience. Was out with family. Received my order but my family were waiting for an hour for their food. When my family approached to complain they were told to f**k off and get out the shop by the staff repeatedly. Terrible customer service. Would avoid.

What a lovely inviting fish n chip restaurant, we opted for the burgers and they, along with the home made chip’s were delicious!! We even popped back in later in the afternoon and had a coffee and Hot chocolate - Mmmm The staff are friendly and the chef Dom does an excellent job!!

Excellent food and a very clean shop. We stayed in Cheddar for a week and enjoyed our dinner from Tuckers so much that we had it twice! The take away service was very efficient and the pre order was a great addition. We'll definitely have a Tuckers again if we return to Cheddar.

Eating here was a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The fish (cod) was high quality and well cooked. Chips were crisp and the mushy peas had flavour. Please to recommend this as a restaurant or as a takeaway.

Fantastic little Fish & Chip restaurant right in the heart of the touristy bit of chedder gorge. We were attended to by a lovely young lady who was friendly, attentive and very efficient in her role. We had Cod & Chips which was as good if not better than I’ve had anywhere in the country. Over all a great experience in a lovely place, we highly recommend you try it.

Simply put, excellent food. One of the best cod and chips I’ve ever had. Delicious. Good price too, considering the location. I’ll be back!

Came here twice whilst on holiday and had an amazing take away fish and chips. We found some tables around the back and ate there. You can eat in or takeaway and it's in the heart of beautiful Cheddar. Good value for money and large portions.

What can ask for great fish and chips haddock was amazing and the chips were so fresh and perfectly cooked woukd highly recommended this place. And the staff were so friendly and happy.

We were hungry as we were walking through so decided on a small bag of chips for £3. They were very fresh and so nice. The small bag was actually big and all 4 of us had plenty to snack on.

The fish and chips here are good but the service is awful, not for the first time i have waited for 20 mins or more. Tonight they excelled themselves, i made a telephone order, 18-50 collection. I was handed my food at 19-15, ridiculous.

We ordered two bags of chips. Well organised, COVID safe and spotlessly clean. We ordered the chips and they were cooked fresh to order. They came after about 5 mins, piping hot and delicious.

Visited Tuckers chip shop in Cheddar last night.The fish and Chips we had was excellent and the Service by our Waitress was 10 out of 10. l do not normally give reviews but after such a good experience felt they deserved a 5 star review.

We visited the Tucker fish and chip restaurant today. The food was excellent. The fish was in a light and crispy batter, the chips were not greasy at all and the mushy peas were delicious. The only downside was there were not any disabled facilities.

Seafood platter was really unpleasant. Mainly deep-fried breadcrumbs.Place was a bit run down and looked like it would benefit from a good deep clean. Fish & chips, flavour was nice but had a lot of batter and was oily. Choice of eating places was limited or shut down for the season. Save your money and eat else where.

It’s a chip shop. It sells chips!Reason I bothered to write a review is that Cheddar is a beautiful little place with all sorts of fancy cafes and tea shops. A meet up for our car club and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very welcoming and easy going. Nice menu with variety and different size portions. Went for large haddock and chips - blimey enough to feed the whole family! Crisp batter and quality fish with nicely mushed peas too. Chips were plentiful and tasty. A steady flow of customers right up to closing time but no pressure to leave. We will be back!

You don’t have to have fish in the chip shop they have a very varied menu but if you don’t you are missing a treat. It’s gorgeous, lovely rich golden batter and lightly crispy.The chips are brilliant real proper chunky and cooked beautifully golden, no pale squishy ones here!Very good indeed

Lovely family lunch. We chose where we got to sit, staff were great at answering the questions I had regards their menus. We all ordered different things yet all our food came at the same time. The restaurant was clean only negative was the 5 or 6 flys that seem to posture us. We will definitely be going back again.

Right on the main strip by the Gorge is this family-run chippy serving a variety of hot and cold meals at reasonable prices. There is a wide range to choose from- breakfast baps, fish and chips, wraps, hot dogs and burgers, and all come in generous portions. It’s a place where your plaice will overhang the plate!

Popped in as we were passing by around lunchtime and the aroma of chips up the street smelt delicious! Were not disappointed. Found ourselves a table. Waitress acknowledged us straight away whilst we perused the surprising extensive menu. Restaurant steady but not rammed. Order taken and food arrived promptly fresh and piping hot. Kids meals very generous... only 1 of our 4 adults could actually clear their plate! Waitress offered a dodgy bag and we went home with another adult meal for the next day! Great value for money. Would visit again.

We waited while others were served only to be told that baked potatoes were off the menu. What a waste of time.

Visited last week and had the cod and chips. Food was lovely, chips just right, batter yum, but my only issue was the puddle of oil that came off my fish on to my plate which then made some of the yum chips not so yum. Suggest, as it wasnt busy, you just take a little care to rest your freshly cooked fish and allow to drain before serving, If that was the case I would have given 5 stars.

My partner and I stopped by Tuckers for lunch while exploring Cheddar Gorge. It was quite busy but the staff were friendly and polite. Our only issue was when the waitress "forgot" to bring the drinks over!

Reportedly the "best" fish and chips around - I'm not sure how difficult it is to cook chips! Don't go very frequently - generous portions - but it's high time they stopped using foam packaging!!

This may seem like a really harsh review but we turned up at 13:50 to eat - there were five of us in total. The lady couldn’t tell me quick enough they closed at 2pm. We spent our £70 elsewhere. Very poor.

Really disappointed to find Tuckers using styrofoam containers for the chips as well as plastic bags for the orders. Surely it’d be better to use cardboard containers or just paper for the chips and paper bags for carrying out.

My elderly mother and her partner drive to Cheddar every day and have their lunch in this cafe.

Allow at least 15-20mins to pick up your take away food at peak times. This is not fast food and staffed by kids who struggle to cope when busy.

The worst fish chips I’ve ever had. The oil they were cooked in must have been extremely old as it smelled disgusting. I didn’t smell this until I was walking away having already bought the food, and the food tasted as bad as the smell, I had to throw it away. As for the staff, their hygiene was questionable at best. Also very expensive.

I went here with the family about seven years ago and enjoyed my fish and chips so much I actually went to the counter to thank the chef. However, my visit last week was unfortunately not so enjoyable.

Dropped in here because my other half wanted haddock and chips for supper while out in the area. Normally they do pea fritters, which are a personal fav. But when I tried to order I was told they were home made and they had run out. Desperately looking for something else to eat I commented on the lack of choice for veggies. The lady server was obvs trained in the matter and tried to help, but I can see that jacket potatoes are veggie and yes they had a veggie burger (have you ever eaten a chip shop veggie burger? They are usualy like a dried patty of 'pavement pizza'). Oh and there was a veggie wrap. Oh and chips are vegetarian apparently!!! Really!!! I've been veggie for 30+ years. Actually they are vegan as long as they are cooked in vegetable oil SEPARATELY from the fish and sausages. There's Nothing interesting on the menu. No halloumi? No sweet potato fries? No cheese and potato cake or sage and onion? So I had onion rings. Which were pale, soggy and tasteless.

You get decent portions, the food arrives hot and you don’t have to wait long. It’s our favourite place to eat in cheddar and it’s usually busy but there’s usually a table available.

We visited this chip shop yesterday. We had a disabled person in our party. Whilst we sorted ourselves out with a table which would accommodate a disability scooter the waitress walked past twice offering no assistance what so ever. We asked about disabled toilets and where told the toilets where upstairs but it was only a little way. The disabled member of our party was in need so decided to try to go. Having got up two flights of stairs he was actually unable to get back down. It took two female members of our group to go up and get him and another one at the bottom telling them how many more steps where left to go. In the whole time of this going on, once again the same waitress walked past and was heard quite clearly making remarks to other members of staff about how he shouldn't have gone up there if he couldn't get back down. Whilst this may or may not have been the truth the gentleman in question was embarrassed enough without these sort of remarks and actually didn't realise how far it actually was. Then to top it all off when asked for the bill by this gent he was told to go to the counter to pay. Atrocious disregard for anybody with a disability of any kind. How they've got away without any disabled facilities up to now I don't know. But considering we where part of a large group which comes to cheddar every year the word went around and they lost out on a lot of custom because of it.

The best chippy in Cheddar, freshly cooked, not greasy , decent amount and most of all staff that listen to what you want, nothing is too much bother for them. Ring and place orders it’s done when u ask .. brilliant

Got fish and chips as a takeaway. One of the best fish we ever had. Chips were good too and very decent portion. 4 stars as found a few brown/ green pieces of chips in 2 put of 4 portions we bought. Will definitely return!

As we’ve recently moved in to the area, we are gradually trying all of the takeaway food establishments. I think we’ve now settled on Tuckers as our local fish and chip shop of choice.

We called here whilst we were in the area and what a great find. The place was clean, the staff welcoming and the menu extensive. We were a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed their meals. The food was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. Prices were very reasonable to. Will definitely call again.

We'd been walking around Cheddar Reservoir and called into Cheddar Gorge on the way back. We were hungry and, as I was cooking fish for tea, decided to get a bag of chips, eat a few and take the rest home. We've been to Tuckers several times but this is the first time that we visited their takeaway - it's clearly signposted and has its own door. It was around 3.30pm so I thought we might get the remnants of the lunchtime chips but they were really nice and fresh and we ate about half of them in the car. The service was fast and friendly so we'll definitely return the next time we want to treat ourselves to a large helping of carbs!

Not just fish and chips. Lots of selections for everyone, even fussy kids. the seafood is good. the burgers and nuggets met with kids approvals. Points off for the fact table wasn't cleaned from previous occupants. We had to eat with their dirty crockery on table with us and floor was wearing a fair amount of food.

The chips are always very nice here we had them to take away the fish also is nice. The battered sausages let the chip shop down as the quality of them although very well cooked is just not very good.

Had a take away last week at Tuckers, the cod and chips were nice. Unfortunately there were quite a few bones in one of the pieces of fish, I am sure this was an isolated issue as the others were fine. Staff were very nice and the restaurant looked very clean.
