Called in here over the weekend for coffee. What a lovely place. Really friendly welcome and great coffee and service. We only stayed for coffee this time as we'd not long had breakfast, but we'll be back for more next time! Love the way it's decorated with old retro toys, posters, etc. Really doggy friendly. We don't have a dog but many did have and all were given treats, nice touch. Highly recommended and will definitely re-visit when back in Cheddar.

Popped in for a coffee on our way to visit the caves. We enquired if it was ok to bring our dog in. This was absolutely fine although we would have to sit near the back of the café, brilliant!! Not an issue. We ordered two coffees and some shortbread. Whilst waiting for our order the lady serving came over to our table and asked if our dog would like a treat (does a bear sh*t in the woods!!!:O)) they even had her favourite one there!!! Shortly after our coffee and shortbread arrived, both of which were delicious. The interior of the café is quite quirky (in a really lovely, homely way!!!) and instantly feels warm and welcoming. This coupled with the helpful and attentive staff make this a "must visit" coffee stop for anyone!!!

We were staying nearby and needed a dog friendly place for breakfast before a long drive home. It is a very small cafe so understand might be hard to get seats at times but on a rainy January morning, it was empty. It’s hard finding somewhere to eat with a dog in tow so bonus points to them for being dog friendly. They even brought him a bowl of water and a treat. Was hoping for a full breakfast but only breakfast baps were available but these were lovely and very filling - in fact none of us ate again until dinner, and the latte was lovely. I can kind of understand people’s comments as the staff weren’t rude to us but they weren’t overly friendly either, but still, overall I’d go back.

We have just spent a long weekend down at Cheddar gorge, we decided that as part of our visit we needed to have a cream tea lol!! We strolled up and down the Gorge looking in many tea room windows to see where we would have one. We decided to visit the above and ordered four cream teas. Our young waitress was very polite and pleasant towards us and we were offered plain or fruit scones. We all chose fruit and were pleasantly surprised when they arrived, a large fruit scone with an individual pot of jam and a bowl heaped with fresh clotted cream. We were also furnished with two large pots of tea to serve the four of us and there was ample tea for us all. The scones were lovely and as a cream tea lover I have to say that it was very very nice, and great value for money at just £3.60 a serving. The tea rooms are pleasant with old style tables and chairs and some bench seats, there are photos around the walls of times that the Gorge flooded. The are also lots of old toys, games and other household items on display that brought back great memories of our childhood days. All in all we had a nice experience in these tea rooms. Thank you for our experience and see you again in just a couple of weeks as we are bringing some more of our family down.

We had just arrived at Cheddar Gorge and fancied a cup of tea or coffee. It had just turned 9.30 in the morning and the only cafe that appeared to have just opened was the Simply Gorgeous Tea Room. It looked a very quaint looking building with a lovely VW Camper van placed alongside giving a retro look. Inside, the decor was very well thought out and took me back to my boyhood days in the ‘50s and ’60s. All around on shelves were toys and games from this era and some of the seating was on old church pews. We found on the menu, warm fresh scones with jam and clotted cream which the four adults in our party couldn’t resist, to complement our teas and coffees. The youngsters with us opted for Victoria Sponge, Lemon Drizzle and Chocolate cakes. All were delicious! There were of course plenty of other options on the menu, including full English Breakfast. The service was great and I can only say this is what a tea room should really be like!

Popped in on Sunday for a light lunch but they were only serving Sunday roast. We didn't want a huge meal as we were going out for dinner that evening with family. We asked the server if we could just order the kids carvery, she said if you want a kids meal go to McDonald's! We just ordered drinks and didn't order a meal and have never gone back since. Such a shame that she doesnt realise that customer's pay her wages and it doesn't matter what they order. Go to the Packhorse Inn. They have fantastic food and friendly staff.
