A welcoming pub serving good beer. We were happy to find this place, ordered drinks and sat down at one of the dining tables. The smell of urine in the whole area was overwhelming. It smelt like cats pee, but may have been dog given that the owners and other dogs had free range. Sorry to say that this has put us off returning or eating.

Although staying in Bridgwater, we found this little gem through Tripadvisor. We certainly wouldn’t have found it otherwise as it’s a little off the beaten track. This is a pub that’s retained its original charm and hasn’t been converted into a full on gastro pub. It’s quirky but clean and full of little nooks and crannies. The friendliness and welcome from the staff was second to none, making us feel very welcome. Even the locals were happy to chat. The food was excellent with us both having the lamb off the specials board followed by the lemon meringue roulade. No need for the mint sauce as the accompanying sauce/gravy was exquisite. My one and only request would be for a local ale as you can get Timothy Taylor anywhere. However there was a local cider served from a box on the bar. This certainly went some way to making up for the lack of ales and could easily have led me astray if it were not for having to make our way back to Bridgwater. The Crown is certainly a hidden gem and one that we would have no hesitation in returning to in the future should we find ourselves in the area again.

Had an amazing meal last night, the food was excellent as always along with the service. Was disappointed to see a review thismorning that was totally unessecery and incorrect. These people were rude to the staff and down right awkward. If you have problems chewing my friend dont order a rare steak. From what u saw the steak was perfect. I don't think Gorden Ramseycould of made you happy. Thankyou to the staff at the crown. We've been comeing here for over 15 years and never had bad meal yet. Keep up the good work

We decided to eat out at short notice. We looked at the menus of several pubs and decided to choose the crown. We arrived after looking a the menu we discovered it was different to the website. We were told it had changed recently, so we did say i suggest the website is updated. When it came to drinks they didn't have prosecco. Never known a pub not have prosecco. We asked for the following and they don't stock any of them. They didn't ginger beer, coke zero, bitter lemon and neither ginger ale. Very limited on drinks. We were offered diet coke which we don't like. We did ask what flavoured mixers they had only to be told, NONE..... We ordered food. 1 gammon steak, when it came it was extremely salty and 1 rather expensive rump steak, cooked rare which was medium to well when it arrived. However when I complained a rare rump was placed in front of me which was much appreciated, but I couldn't eat it as it was full of sinue and is now in the cat bowl at home. Oh I did forget to say that when I asked for a bottle of still spring water that could not be supplied either I was offered some kind of filtered tap water which tasted worse than my unfiltered tap water at home. If you take my advice don't complain about anything because if you saw the state the chef was in then it would put you off eating out for life. This may seem over the top but believe you me each point is accurate. I think it's safe to say we don't recommend the pub and definitely will not return.

What a surprise this was - very unassuming from the outside but as soon as I walked in and smelled beer (as all pubs should smell of but few do these days) I knew we were going to be OK. The beer was great and so was the music but the food hit another level entirely, my pork belly was superb as were the other dishes, no skimping on portion size either. It's an old rustic place but all the better for it - this is how pubs used to be everywhere back in the day - well done to the owners for keeping it real and congrats to whoever is cooking the food as they really know what they're doing.

The garden was buzzing with diners but it was a little chilly, so we asked if we could eat in the van - no problem! I can honestly say it was one of the nicest scampi and chips I have had in a long time. Freshly cooked, home made chips, good portion of scampi, salad, lovely coleslaw delivered to our van - no problem! My brother and I booked a table for lunch today, on arrival I noted that the waitresses all had plastic facemasks on - well-done team, although not every member of staff was wearing a face covering. We were shown to our table, which was in an old alcove, very quaint (mind your head there). We ordered drinks (3 x Coke Zeros) but we were brought 3 x Diet Cokes, which is not the same as Zero, so I sent mine back as the additives in Diet Coke plays hell with my blood sugars. The carvery meal was most delightful, the carrots were so soft they melted away in my mouth, the peas were cooked to my ideal specification, the beef was ever so tasty, lean and mouthwateringly moist as was the turkey. The roast potatoes were HUGE four was more than enough for me, and that Yorkshire which looked like a castle turret was so fluffy and tasty. The staff were very attentive, one came over to see how the meal was before I had even put a fork to a pea. I asked to see the dessert menu after polishing off the main meal, a waitress returned and told me the items available, I opted for good old fashioned apple crumble (crumble crumble) - WHO PUTS SULTANAS IN APPLE CRUMBLE?? - I did not eat it, although I did taste the crumble which was deliciously buttery and I could happily have had a bowl full of that alone. Overall a good dining experience - thank you very much

Food not good. The venison was tough as old boots.

Quick recommendation for Motor home stop over and we called very short notice on a Friday night. Availability for food and a van would be made.Lovely old pub with a nice welcoming friendly atmosphere. We arrived with our 2 children 5 and 1 and were given a really warm welcome. I asked for crisps for baby and was told they had non but to wait and the guy came back with some under 1 month baby carrot chips- result! Our son was taken off to the play area!16 OZ steak, lasagne and kids sausage and mash - All huge portions and extremely good pub grub. We even had a couple of ciders, which we were given quite large samples of before hand. Guys if your this way, this is what you want from a pub stop over. Thank you very much for a great meal and a nice rest half way home.

We were on a rural walk and stopped here for a pint. There was a nice warm welcome. In COVID times the large garden area is attractive with lots of outside seating. A busy pub even on a weekday late afternoon, so it's obviously popular. The beer was good! There were people staying here in the grounds, in motorhomes and that added to the amount of people using the pub.

We stayed in this pub car park in our campervan en route to our holiday destination. We had EHU so paid £5, otherwise there is no charge for overnight stays. We had a wonderful evening meal. I had a homemade steak pie, my wife had mousakka and our children (aged 9 and 5) shared a pizza and chips (Dan advised us that the pizza was huge and that they would be ok sharing). There was a lovely play area outside which the children enjoyed and we all ate whilst the sun set in peaceful surroundings. Thank you so much, we'll definitely be back.

NO FOOD! Don't let the pictures deceive you :) PS This is no way a judgement on the place itself, just a warning! DON'T GO THERE FOR FOOD, they don't serve it anymore.

A Disappointing Experience at The Admiral’s Landing Our visit to The Admiral’s Landing was, unfortunately, a huge letdown. The place was a complete shambles from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere felt neglected and rundown, as if no one had taken the time to clean or care for the space in ages. The bathrooms were the worst part of the experience, resembling something straight out of Steptoe and Son’s yard. They were dirty, unpleasant, and frankly, quite off-putting. It’s shocking that a business would allow facilities to get to that level—it made the whole visit feel uncomfortable. Adding to the disappointment was the carvery. The whole setup felt chaotic, and the person serving (who seemed to have no interest in hygiene or presentation) left us cringing. Watching what looked like “Stig of the Dump” sloppily serve food was not what we’d hoped for in a meal out. It was far from appetizing and truly lacked the quality or care you’d expect. If you’re looking for a clean, welcoming pub experience with decent food, I’d recommend giving The Admiral’s Landing a miss. The place has potential, but it desperately needs serious attention and care before I’d consider going back.

Popped in on Sunday for a light lunch but they were only serving Sunday roast. We didn't want a huge meal as we were going out for dinner that evening with family. We asked the server if we could just order the kids carvery, she said if you want a kids meal go to McDonald's! We just ordered drinks and didn't order a meal and have never gone back since. Such a shame that she doesnt realise that customer's pay her wages and it doesn't matter what they order. Go to the Packhorse Inn. They have fantastic food and friendly staff.
