Went for dinner and ended up staying for bed and breakfast. Great food both for breakfast and dinner.

My wife and I stopped here for a late lunch after a day walking in the Mendips. The food and beer really ‘hit the spot’ - I had roast beef, my wife had the vegan option - both were great. Excellent value for money and the people who run the pub are friendly and helpful.

We had 4 sharing dishes and they were all good, especially the black pudding salad. I’m a little confused by the other reviews here as everyone has said the food and drink is good but given the place poor marks. I would very highly recommend this place, great stop off the West Mendip Way too :)

Four of us stayed at the Pennscot Inn in Shipham, for one night whilst walking some of the Mendip Way. The welcome was reasonably friendly, the rooms were clean if small and the ensuite was tiny. A kettle with tea and coffee was available too. Later in the evening after having supper elsewhere, we returned and using the front door key as instructed, were ‘greeted’ by the Male owner, not with ‘have you had a nice evening? Would you like a drink from the bar? But with a finger to his lips and sshhhhh! We weren’t making any noise! Breakfast was help yourself to cereals, fruit juice etc and order from the short menu full or vegetarian breakfast and toast. Tea and coffee was also offered. Nice enough breakfast, but it was as if the guests were an inconvenience, no real hosting, maybe they are in the wrong business?

We met a friend here for lunch and having never been here before didn’t know what to expect. The bar area and garden room was quite pleasant with a nice log fire burning in the main bar area. The food menu was quite extensive and what we ordered was very tasty and well presented. The steak and kidney pie was one of the best I’d had in a pub and presented like no other I had seen before. My wife and our friend had fish which they enjoyed very much. If I was to be critical then I would say the food could be served hotter or on hot plates but that is being a little picky. It was unfortunate that there was no one else in the pub whilst we were there so there was no ambiance. However we will definitely return but probably not until the new year.

I like this pub. It has character and the locals, bar staff land lord/lady are friendly enough however you will end up chatting endless nonsense in a nice way and one beer will lead to another quite happily!!

Could do with a bit more atmosphere, only a couple of people in there on a Tuesday eve, but friendly staff and good food at a good price.

Treated myself as feeling hungry and tired after what felt like a long day at work. Couldnt be bothered to cook & had heard good things about the Bath Arms but havent been in for years. I have to say, the Bath Arms was faultless.. Super quick service with a friendly smile from everyone working there. It was busy but it's runs like clockwork! Fantastic choice for a set menu, very fairly priced & delicious. I was blown away by the whole experience. Highly recommended & a nice surprise to have such great food virtually on my doorstep

It was my partner's birthday today and we were staying at Sandy Glade holiday park. There were seven of us all together, so I decided to book ahead of time. On arrival the pub car park was quite full, but inside didn't seem too bed. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we were led to our table straight away. There was a good variety of food choices, but not too many, so you couldn't decide! After ordering there wasn't a long wait for food, but it was definitely worth the wait. It was all fresh, piping hot and tasted delicious. The overall experience and atmosphere was fantastic. It was a lovely birthday meal and anyone in the area should definitely try it out. There were seven of us and the total bill (including non alcoholic drinks) was £116.50, which I thought was reasonable, certainly for very good food. My thanks go out to all the staff at The Red Cow.

Found off of the main road, parking is limited. Outdoor and indoor seating. Food can be ordered and paid for via the app, as this is a HUNGRY HORSE. food was served quickly and without issue. Toilets are upstairs. Simple, functional, and run smoothly. I can't fault this establishment, and it was a pleasure to visit. Also, dog friendly.
