Service was not great, tea brought to the table but no tea strainer for the tea leaves and we had to ask. Toast brought out but no knife and again we had to ask for knives and serviettes. Been there before and always good but today extremely disappointing and doesn’t enthuse me to revisit.

Loose leaf tea & had to ask for tea strainer. Ordered toast which came without any knives or serviettes. Instead of having a leisurely tea & toast I was up & down asking for things that should automatically been placed on the table. Very disappointing as have been here before & was looking forward to it.

This is our second visit here and it did not disappoint. They have so many different options and cate for all of our varying dietary needs (which is rare). We booked ahead and requested a quiet area and when we arrived they gave us a lovely little booth that the children loved. The service was great - friendly and helpful. We all had a lovely lunch and enjoyed a cream tea afterwards. It is almost impossible to get a dairy and gluten free scone anywhere and so I was so pleased to be able to have this - and it was yummy! We felt it was really good value for money. The food tasted nice and came quickly. We had no issues with our order, despite making several special requests for dietary needs. No complaints here. The location is lovely and we love the quirky interior.

Very pretty cafe but that’s about it. About 3 people in there but waited 20 minutes for a coffee, nearly walked out. Very overpriced. Another couple asked for some butter for their jacket potatoes, the waitress rudely said, ‘they have butter on them but if you really need more I’ll get some’. She really wasn’t happy. Bought two pasties to take out, they were disgusting, dried out and tasteless. I’d recommend you take a photo of the pretty building but suggest you walk on by to another cafe to spend your money & hopefully receive better service.

Bought a couple of pasties and drinks £12, not bad. Then asked to sit in as was raining outside and plenty of empty tables. Were told no problem but need to pay extra before we leave. Ate pasties out of bags, drank drinks out of bottles so created no extra service costs then got charged an extra £8+ before we left! Expect to pay extra to eat in anywhere due to VAT but over £8 on a £12 bill?! RIP OFF!

This is a fantastic place for a cup of tea or a lunch. The staff were very efficient and attentive, extremely polite. There was a good selection on the menu and our lunch was brought promptly and was very tasty and excellent value for money. And they make a proper cup of tea in a proper cup of teapot with proper tea leaves. Very nice.

We ended up visiting twice because the food and staff were so great! The portion sizes are very generous, they are big believers in thick cut bread here - a proper doorstep sandwich. The ingredients are super tasty and fresh, using local sources. Definitely recommend trying to get a seat up in the terrace garden.

Another fabulous visit to Lion Rock tea rooms. As locals this is a special place for holiday trips, birthdays etc. and today lived up to the usual magic. Fabulous staff. Incredible food and very happy to accommodate my vegan requests to mix things from the menu. Topped off with a vegan cream tea and a perfect brew of loose leaved tea in a pot. Thank you for going to extra mile with friendliness, service and vegan offerings along side the usual dishes. We always leave with full bellies and happy hearts.

Very nice food but waited 45 mins for it. By the time it came out the drinks were long gone. Mentioned that it took a while as we were paying and was told to expect that as it is popular. It wasn’t even half full. Shame, as the food was very good, albeit expensive.

Excellent little gem! Food was good quality. Staff were friendly, location and decor were lovely. I’d recommend booking, they were really popular, and arrive ahead of time to find a parking spot. We would definitely go again. Great vegan/ egg free options. My only request would be somewhere to change a baby, we had a bit of an awkward change on the floor in the corner of the restaurant.

We visited here as a family of four for lunch, my 11 year old daughter has coeliac disease which often makes finding somewhere that we trust to ensure her food is gluten free, difficult at times. I spoke with who I assume was the manager who immediately asked if my daughter was coeliac when I asked about gluten free options & gave us several options that she could eat whilst showing awareness & empathy to her. There were plenty of options on the menu for her which could be adapted to gluten free. Needless to say we were happy to eat here & she enjoyed gluten free sausage & chips, which came with a label so we knew it wasn't mixed up with her sisters. The rest of our muggle food was pretty tasty too! Highly recommended.

Lovely little place. Been for coffee previously but came in for afternoon tea. £18.95 pp. Lovely & fresh sandwiches, 6 each in total. One scone only but still warm & heart shaped. Selection (4) of small cakes. Only allowed one small pot of tea or one American. Anymore and you have to pay separately unlike any other afternoon teas I had (except 1). Worked out expensive for what it was.

This is the second time we have been to the tea rooms, we love it. It is quite ‘cosy’ but the staff are really attentive and very careful with orders. As someone who is vegan and GF I feel really confident they have got my order correct and the menu caters for both these things very well. Today we had cooked breakfast, this was very tasty and we took cake home with us as it was so inviting. In the summer there is a nice garden to sit in. Highly recommended.

We ordered scones, pies, cakes, tea and hot chocolate, and were seated upstairs in what is called the pink room. We were lucky to have a table beside a window so we could see the street below. Superb atmosphere, the best steak I’ve had in my life! (10oz fillet) chef was so down to earth and welcoming - showed us different cuts of steak and told us about their source. Went above and beyond for service - orders taken quickly and all staff friendly and polite. Felt a very cosy and happy little village pub. Will definitely be back for more steak and the fresh salad bowls that come with it! :) Thank you so much ☺️

Poor service, the two boys was unfriendly. Had to ask twice where our drink and food was. Was very basic for what they charge. Well over cooked. Could have gone done my local burger van and got better food and service. Felt extremely let down as we used to go there a lot of our visits to cheddar. But no longer. Over £70.00 spent, could have had a nice meal else where for less. Extremely disappointed ☹️ never go back. When we complain they did nothing to sort it.
