One of the best meals we have eaten in a long time! Every dish was unique and finished to a very high standard with nice sauces and textures! Cheese puffs, kolarabi ceviche and roasted cabbage where some of our favourites and the almond tart desert had my wife very excited for days! All in a lovely setting and service was top notch! Couldn't reccomendend highly enough when visiting wells!

We were wandering around Wells and noticed the long story bistro- as we had not eaten breakfast we popped in andordered a full English and vegetarian breakfast. The welcome from staff was very warm, and we did not have to wait long for our drinks and food to arrive. It was a fabulous breakfast, well presented, very tasty and served hot. We would not hesitate to recommend. I also spotted some delicious looking cakes, perhaps we will visit again tomorrow??

My fiancé and I came to Wells for the night and had booked at this lovely little restaurant. The staff Rita and Alice were very friendly and efficient. I had the king prawns for start and duck and honey for main. They were both absolutely delish! Highly recommended.

Lovely cappuccino and the staff were friendly and helpful. Friends that I was with had lunch and they had dietary needs, that the staff were really great with and offered alternatives. We were made to feel welcome throughout our visit and I will definitely be back again.

Our first fail at one of the 'Lounge' chain - and an extremely disappointing one. It took over half an hour for our food to arrive, and when it did so, it was cold, with the sauce congealed around the noodles. Cutlery was promised, but the member of staff then disappeared for several minutes. There was no sense of urgency at all. We were given an apology and a full refund, but then had to go elsewhere to find our lunch, and consequently found that we had insufficient time to enjoy our one day in Wells. It was clear that other customers had also experienced considerable frustrations. The poorest dining experience we've had for a very long time.

The pub itself is fine, bordering on fine. The food however was just dire. We both had sandwiches, on the cheapest of bread, thin and brittle, one of us stupidly chose the ‘cheese and pickle’, which was almost entirely pickle was a toddler’s-handful of cheap grated cheese. The real crime were the chips - thin, cheap, overcooked and tasted like they’d been cooked in old burnt oil, we had exactly one each. So by all means enjoy a drink here, just avoid the food.

Lovely cafe tucked away 1 minute from the hustle and bustle of the High Street. Friendly, welcoming staff, allow well-behaved dogs (especially handy when raining!), delicious food, we had a yummy lunch. Great place to visit for brunch, lunch, afternoon cuppa and cake. Near to the Bishop’s Palace, a great park and the Cathedral.

We popped in for a coffee and cake whilst on Saturday visit to Wells. Varied menu and a good selection of cakes, scones and pastries. Cooked breakfast coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and good portions. Coffee nice (not bitter) and hot. Facilities clean and staff very friendly. Will remember this cafe when we next visit Wells.

We have had a previous bad experience of this place once before (about 2 years ago to which I left a negative review at the time). Hoping that things might of improved we chanced it for a snack and drink. Well all I can say nothing has improved! Poor selection of food, cakes etc with high prices to match. The staff (mostly young) are left to their own devices and are slow/unsure. We waited 15 minutes after ordering at the till for our hot drinks to arrive where we were sitting. When they finally arrived the cappuccino was vile and the tea was no better - tasteless and stewed! We left the majority of both which was undrinkable! Table 6 (where we were sitting) needed clearing and a good wet cloth round it. The place could do with some updating/refurbishment. Sorry Wells Cathedral but if you are looking for people to pay a £14 entrance fee in to the cathedral, you certainly need to up your game on the other facilities such as the cafe, toilets (downstairs which are small and smelly and a better selection of merchandise in the gift shop (maybe you should go and see what Worcester and Salisbury cathedrals provide).
