Firstly I rarely leave reviews, unless something is particularly good or bad. This is for the latter.... We went for a Sunday Carvery with friends. On arrival, the place looked lovely and was clean and we were greeted nicely. The Waiting staff were very nice, but the lady in charge/owner(?) was very scary, felt like a child at school being told off by the head mistress, as she barked for you to not to do this and that. Cold and rude. Not very welcoming at all! The food was underwhelming and served to you like you're at school also. The 3 roast potatoes and 3 roast parsnip pieces were undercooked and I couldn't cut one of them, let alone eat it. It made the knife bend!?! The Yorkshire puddings were soggy, the overcooked carrots were batoned so thinly, with black bits still on them, I'm pretty sure they were frozen carrots. The cauliflower cheese was nice but there was so little if it, that once it had gravy on top, it disappeared after one bite! For dessert I had pavalova, at £8.95. For this price I expected a nice chunk of home cooked, crunchy and chewy, pavlova but got 2 pre packed, individual 'supermarket style' meringues with some whipped cream and fruit. Incredibly underwhelmed by the whole meal. We won't be returning or recommending.

We stayed in Looe for a week and went into the Saluation for a drink. The atmosphere is very cosy and relaxed, the staff friendly and very attentive, especially to our two border collies. We returned later in the week to eat, we had the lamb hotpot and chicken pie, both of which were excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Not a good night, certainly won’t be returning anytime soon. Thought I’d booked a nice table in the dining room with family for my husbands 70th birthday only to find we were put in the bar as they were holding a quiz night. Had they told me when booking I’d have gone else where. I thought it’s what it is let’s just enjoy and celebrate even though a disappointing start. First order error was my daughter’s wine. Red arrived instead of white. A misunderstanding that was quickly put right so no problem. Then starters arrive. My son & partner only ordered the soda bread with oil & olives. Because the kitchen sent out the wrong item by the time this arrived others had finished their starters and our main courses were ready so they did take this off the bill. Main courses arrive but the béarnaise sauce ordered to go with one of the steaks didn’t. Well finally did but at that point half the meal was eaten so this too was removed from our bill. The service was slow, the quality of the food was mediocre, portion sizes small ( 5 small pieces of calamari on a tea plate at £9,50 ) the cost for what it was in my opinion very overpriced. Definitely I’ve had far better food & service else where. Week previously paid similar price for a meal at The Eastbury Plough. The food there was exceptional so it can be done. On a positive note the barman was apologetic at the end regarding my not having been told about quiz night and also was quick to remove the two items from our bill as recompense.

Beer was good, glasses clean. Food was good, but we were not warned about fresh-from-the-oven hot bowl for the chips. Ouch. Oh, and a long hair in the burger. Grubby. Who wipes bogies on toilet walls? Regulars? Staff? Japanese tourists? Who can say, but the amount was disgusting and unusually tolerated by the management. Why is it tolerated? Because it hadn’t been cleaned off! The regulars had a great rapport with staff- nice to see, so I’d hate for it to be a regular wiping biohazards on the gent’s toilets wall seeing as they’re mates with the bar staff. Tables were wiped down, but it was hard to discern which one was done first and when with the “hot soapy water” as they all had a sticky lacquer on them. The tables and the table cutlery/ packet sauce holder were grubby. Cleaning , whilst a chore, is necessary in food service establishments, at daily intervals. Booked a table in advance, which was held for us, but rich mouthy cry-baby boomers kicked off about not being able to sit together in their group of 8. Poorly managed by the staff- just felt inexperienced and clumsy. We moved our party and at least got the drinks on the house. Boomers didn’t have the courtesy/ decency to actually ask us…they used the young manager to do the deed. Not the fault of the pub, but there’s a training need for how to handle people and customers there. Watch out for already included and assumed service charge (15% IIRC?), which is presumptuous and not necessarily earned. What do we tip for? Service? Food? Cleanliness? No bogies? Hard to say what the pub is- it’s affordable with reasonable beer and food, but it’s not a professional establishment. The level of cleaning and management inexperience showed this. Have used this pub on and off for >20yrs, this is the worst it’s been. Sad to see this in a place with such an exclusive location.

We stayed in Haven Devon Cliffs in August 2023, and The Tythe Cottage Restaurant is on the left-hand side from the entrance. Lovely little Cottage with beer garden and old style inside which we loved and small little bar. Toilets are outside. Kid friendly . Kiddies Corner on the menu and great selection. Very reasonably priced. Staff and the atmosphere were very friendly.

Once again a very pleasant family lunchtime in a warm friendly atmosphere. Even though the weather was foul, the view from the panoramic dining room window remains majestic. Good food, well-prepared and presented - enjoyed by us all. Many thanks.

First class Sunday roast. I can honestly say I’ve never had a better lamb roast dinner. Lots of meat, vegetables and trimmings. Huge Yorkshire pudding. Fantastic service, lovely staff, beautifully decorated for Christmas. I will definitely be back there soon.

Great little side street pub, with cheerful staff. We took our kids in hoping food might be available, but not expecting it as it was 8pm on a Monday in winter. Not a problem! There were pub classics on offer at a fair price. We ordered chicken wings, fish and chips & ham, egg and chips. All food hit the spot and the local ale was great too. We returned for drinks on another night and the locals indulged our 10 year old with several games of darts which really made his day.

Stopped here for the first time and so glad we did. The welcome was warm and friendly. The carvery was amazing hot tasty and great value for money. Lot's of choice from the carvery and vegetables were also cooked very well. I would recommend booking as it was almost full when we got there at 3pm and was still very busy when we left st 5pm .
