I stumbled across The Edgemoor Inn whilst driving past and arrived with no expectations. From the moment that I walked through the door I was made to feel welcome. My table had magnificent views across the valley. There was a selection of drinks to suit most tastes: I thoroughly enjoyed a well kept pint of bitter from the local Uley brewery. The food was freshly prepared with care and attention to detail. Both starter and main were exceptionally good. The menu has a good selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes. For me this has been the discovery of an unexpected gem. I will be back. Kevin

Arrived on Saturday at 18.30 (pub opens at this time) so we were one of the first people in. The first part of the meal was good with a quick service on the starters followed by the mains, which were served in a timely manor. One of the meals was prawns with only 5 prawns, and no chorizo as advertised so a bit disappointing. The rest of the food was good. Order sweet and over 30-40 minutes still no sign of them, so cancelled them and asked for the bill. Be aware that half a coke is £3.75, which I asked twice if that was correct (£7.50 a pint) was taken back by the cost as a pint is under £5.00 when I asked. Think the staff could have said better off buying a pint.

Wow wonderful food with a fabulous view! Our daughter and fiancé have been raving about this place for ages and finally took us last night. All our food was outstanding and no corners cut with frozen any thing all home cooked… the staff were great and the view even with the changeable weather we had last night was incredible. Can’t wait to return.

Excellent pub food, very well cooked and presented. We were a table of 7 and everyone enjoyed their meals. The views were also stunning and the bill was reasonable. Will certainly return.

Most of the reviews I've read rate this pub quite highly! I do not! The rationale for choosing the Edgemoor Inn was it's good reviews and it's views. Not all the party of 7 plus baby arrived at the same time as we were coming from different directions. The table was booked for 1400 hours and it was about 1350 hours when 3 of us arrived. The landlord enquired where the rest of us were so we explained they would be here soon. His reply was "they had better be!" As it was supposed to be a birthday treat and finding another venue would have been problematic, the comment was largely ignored as he may have been thinking about his kitchen staff. We did, however, call the rest of the party to make sure they were hurrying. Another 2 of the party arrived, with baby, at approximately 1405 hours and one of these has to read any menu carefully due to serious dietary requirements. Upon entering the pub and approaching the bar she was hassled into making a decision immediately, with a 'what do you want, meat or fish'. Already stressed by a delay on the journey, this treatment reduced her to tears! She just wanted a little time to choose and had no time to study the menu or settle her young baby. In the meantime the menu was photographed and sent to the remaining 2 in our party so they could choose remotely and immediately. One was picking the other up from Stroud Railway Station and the train had been delayed by 10-15 minutes. We decided not to order starters as we now felt we were obliged to hurry our meal. The order was placed at approximately 1415 hours. Two fish & chips, two pork loin roasts, one burger, one lasagne and one hunter's chicken. The pork loin was disguised as pork shoulder, the vegetables were dry and had been kept warm for some considerable time. Even the roast potatoes were old and very chewy! It takes number one slot for the worst Sunday Roast I have ever eaten! Comments from the other roast dinner eater were similar and neither of us could finish the offering. This is unheard of! Now the fish & chips were a different kettle, well, the fish anyway. In fact, the comments regarding the fish were very positive! All those who had chips managed to eat some of them but again they were dry and had, perhaps, been reheated, probably more than once. The burger went down well too! Unfortunately, the lasagne wasn't very appetising and neither was the hunter's chicken and much of these plates were left untouched. At some point in the proceedings one of the staff members noticed how upset our lady with the baby was and probably told the landlord, because he came over to make polite conversation with her. We obviously didn't think about overstaying our almost non-existent welcome by ordering desserts. The impression we all came away with was that, although the views were very good, no hospitality outlet should think it can rely on this alone. The rest of our experience was best forgotten. We feel our concerns need to be registered to encourage any improvement in attitude and food quality the landlord may wish to undertake, for the sake of any potential future customers.

If you want a delicious vegetarian meal with friendly service and panoramic views of the beautiful Cotswolds then The Edgemoor Inn is for you. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from - vegetarian, vegan and meat. We complimented the landlord on there being so much choice for vegetarians and he confirmed that they were all homemade by his wife. We look forward to returning again soon.

I came here with a friend as, I had a rare day in the week off, I tried a new main which was the pork tenderloin, I always go for seabass or something else, it was fab my bravery paid off the accompaniments of blue cheese, salad and apple sauce set it off perfectly, my friend had the falafel salad and as always I had the smoked salmon pate starter which they let me take home, I will forever come here, the views are fab too

I came here this Saturday with family for the anniversary of my dad's death, it was his favourite restaurant, and again on Monday with a friend each meal was just beyond brilliant, the puddings are out of this world both my twin and I said it was the best pannacota we have ever had, the salmon pate was epic and the sea bass and the liver was amazing, everyone enjoyed the meal no matter what they had, I will come again and again

Not your average pub grub, think more upmarket.Lovely food cooked and presented very well, very hot too. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and just about the right level of checking on you. No drinks menu so asked the waiter for a glass of red wine and he took the time to talk through and recommend the merlot as I wanted an easy drinking one, so glad I took his advice, was definitely pleasurable. very good knowledge.views were lovely and made for a lovely relaxing evening.I felt very covid safe. plenty of space between tables, staff still wearing masks, hand sanitiser available, and even wipes in the toilets to sanitiser items before use. please keep to this, as I thought this was great and made me feel very comfortable and safe.Great value for money, no skimping on portion size either. 3 course meal for 2 plus one large glass of red wine and 3 soft drinks, totalled £67.Had a lovely relaxing and pleasurable evening here, will certainly be back. This will not be our only visit here.

Great beer and food enjoyed whilst looking out over the valley. Staff pleasant and helpful. Worth a visit.

My wife and I had dinner booked here as part of our honeymoon. We were staying in Edge and as this was the only pub within reasonable walking distance we had it booked so we could walk down and have a couple of drinks and something to eat. When booking we were told as we had a dog we couldn’t sit inside but there was seating outside with umbrellas. Fine by us! It had been raining on and off throughout the day and on arrival we saw that none of the umbrellas had been put up so the tables and chairs were wet from the rain. When I went in I told them we’d arrived for our booking and asked where we would be seated. All I was told was that it would have to be outside as we had a dog. I went back outside to have a look around the decking area to see if anywhere was suitable. None of the umbrellas had been put up so it was all wet. I went back in and to clarify I asked if they had anywhere outside that we could sit that was covered. I was told that they have the umbrellas and there’s a bit of cover under a tree. To which I responded that all the tables were wet as none of the umbrellas had been put up. The response I received was “well, to be honest, we didn’t think you’d come”.Edge is an isolated little village, this is the only pub within reasonable walking distance and the booking had been made weeks in advance. Yet we were made to feel like it was our fault for turning up to our booking!At no point did anyone offer to clear and dry a table, or put an umbrella up. I can’t speak for the quality of the food but don’t expect any sort of care, attention or service!!

We were really looking forward to this booking at the edgemoor inn as we had seen how nice it looked online. (Or so we thought!) Unfortunately when we arrived in the car park the place looked rather run down compared to the photos on the website, however we still decided to give it a go. When we walked in it didn’t feel very friendly, there were only a couple of other tables and we felt like they were staring at us which was a bit odd. We were seated with a nice view, though the inside decor looked about as much like the website as the outside did. We had the cod with asparagus and the fish and chips. Ok food but a little underwhelming for the prices when you compare it to some of the other lovely pubs in the area. We decided to skip dessert and were in and out in under 40 minutes. We paid by card and were asked if we wanted our receipt, only for the inn to call us the next day and say that our payment hadn’t gone through, so we had to pay again over the phone. Not so impressed and wouldn’t return if we were holidaying in the cotswolds again.

Situated on the Gloucester Road, this restaurant provides stunning countryside views.We decided to make the most of the views by sitting outside on the warm spring evening.Extensive menu made choosing difficult, so we had some olives with bread and dipping oil while we waited.My starter was Thai Crab Cakes, with a small salad and tasty dip.For a main I chose the Hunters Chicken, which was delicious and was accompanied by chips and a salad.Well looked after all evening by our waitress Ruby

We had lunch here while doing Bruce Friendship Circular Trail/cotswold way circular walk. Food was excellent, and great value for money. The view from outside space were amazing . We were even allowed to leave car in parking while we do the walk. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to sit in peace , enjoy lovely meal and appreciate amazing views. Good vegetarian options if you want only veg food.

A wonderful get together with my brother, sister and partners.The food was delicious, hunters chicken, lamb burgers, salmon, and the pork with fig salad.The procedures put in place to sanitise really put my mind at rest as 3 in the party have had to shield during the pandemic, even in the toilets were antibacterial wipes to use after use.The Staff were wonderful, helpful and made our visitAs we all live in different areas this was the ideal place to meet and the views of the countryside were wonderful Thank you.

Located on a hill looking down onto the picturesque Painswick and Cotswold hills - what a place to eat and drink!Stunning views from both the outdoor terrace and indoor seating areas, brilliant choice of locally sourced fresh food and ale and friendly fast service. This could not have been a better experience!Fine dining at a very reasonable price (and great portion sizes too).

In a beautiful setting with far reaching views with exceptional service enjoyed fanatics meals. Great end to a Bank holiday Monday!

The Board behind the bar says "Welcome Back" and it was sure nice to be back out again.The staff were doing a great job in the difficult circumstances and the restaurant was nicely busy. All tables are socially distanced and this evening a good number were able to enjoy the warmth whist dining outside.Reasonable choice on the menu and our selection was delicious.

Visité con amigos para cenar y lo pasé muy bien. Al entrar, le mostraron su mesa bajo las estrictas reglas de Covid, lo cual fue genial; se podía ver que el restaurante hizo todo lo posible para mantener seguros a sus clientes. Era un menú limitado pero contenía una buena variedad de platos. Todos dijimos que la comida era muy buena y porciones generosas. Se sirvió un vino de buena calidad a un precio razonable. Todo el personal fue eficiente y servicial; nada es demasiado problema.Volveré pronto. Bien merece una visita.

Aproximadamente la quinta o sexta vez que he estado y la comida siempre es absolutamente excelente. El personal es amable y todo el lugar se gestiona como una operación muy hábil, un servicio rápido y eficiente. Muy buena comida de calidad de restaurante aquí y uno de mis lugares favoritos para comer. Una vista tremenda desde el comedor también.

Fui a almorzar el domingo hoy y fue fabuloso, el personal fue encantador y muy servicial, la comida fue excelente y las vistas increíbles. Se sintió muy seguro y el distanciamiento social se tomó muy en serio. Una visita muy agradable a la que no dudaríamos en volver. Muy recomendable, gracias al personal por un día encantador.

En un buen día soleado, este pub es un gran lugar. Las vistas desde el jardín son increíbles y también se obtiene lo mismo desde el interior del restaurante. Es bastante básico por dentro y la comida estaba por encima de la media.No volvería corriendo por la comida, pero volvería a tomar una copa en los jardines.

Nos estamos quedando en la localidad en una casa de campo y tenga en cuenta que los veraneantes anteriores han recomendado encarecidamente esta posada. Llegamos temprano y disfrutamos de un par de bebidas calientes. El salón tiene vista al hermoso campo con Painswick en la distancia. La atención a COVID fue insuperable, en todas las áreas los estándares de higiene son de primera clase. Pedimos lubina y pastel de ternera, las comidas estaban bien presentadas y bien preparadas. Esto fue acompañado de una copa fría de Guinness y un shandy. Muy recomendable, definitivamente volveremos a llamar.

He estado en Edgemoore varias veces y lo he disfrutado muchísimo. La comida es deliciosa y casera y el personal es excelente y nos da la bienvenida a mi pareja y a mí en todo momento. El personal ha cumplido todas las solicitudes que les he pedido.Las mesas están espaciadas para cumplir con las recomendaciones de Covid y hay mucho espacio a tu alrededor, hay desinfectante disponible y todo el personal usa máscaras para tomar pedidos y servir comida.Esta noche tuve una deliciosa comida de lubina seguida de la pavlova. Definitivamente le daría al personal, la ubicación y la comida un 10 sobre 10.

¡Algunas de las mejores comidas que mi familia y yo hemos comido! !Tan pronto como entramos, descubrimos que las precauciones de covid eran bastante buenas, había desinfectante de manos disponible en la entrada, pero nuestro único punto negativo fue que al principio no estaba claro si esperamos a que nos sentamos o si buscamos una mesa. Nos sentamos junto a la ventana con una hermosa vista de las colinas y el área para comer al aire libre que se veía hermosa, lamentablemente estaba demasiado húmedo para sentarse afuera: (¡Nuestros platos principales fueron increíbles! ! Todos fueron servidos con prontitud y estaban deliciosos y nos dejaron con ganas de más. Los postres eran deliciosos y no podríamos haber pedido algo mejor, especialmente el brownie, ¡fue el mejor brownie que hemos comido!El personal era accesible y amable, y muy conversador. Mi abuela se unió a nosotros y ha comido aquí durante años con su pareja y todavía jura por la deliciosa comida. ¡Se lo recomendaríamos a cualquiera! !

Viendo que nadie sabía que habíamos llegado, me acerqué cautelosamente al bar donde un caballero de aspecto bastante acosado tomó nuestros nombres. ¡No se menciona la desinfección de manos ni se ofrece una cálida bienvenida! Después de que nos llevaran a una mesa, con lo que tengo que decir fue una hermosa vista, pedimos bebidas y elegimos nuestra comida. Un entrante de tres langostinos en palitos (pretenciosamente llamados piruletas) con una pequeña cantidad de ensalada y una pequeña olla de salsa de chiles. . . . una buena fuente de ingresos por 7 libras! ! !¡Entonces empezó la diversión!Después de que le sirvieron a mi esposa una ofrenda de pato y ensalada bastante decepcionante, llegó mi Steak Pie and Chips. . . . . bueno Steak Pie fue lo que pedí. . . . . aparentemente, una pequeña porción de pastel para la cena escolar es el nuevo Steak Pie en Edgemoor. . . . . ¡tonto de mí! ! ! ! My Husband and I visited today for lunch, we both had the homemade lasagne, salad chips & garlic bread followed by mint Aero cheesecake with mint ice cream, all the we had was absolutely perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful - sat outside on the terrace to appreciate the fantastic view - High recommend and can't wait to go back again !

Fantastic family run restaurant. Excellent food all hand made and taste lovely Well worth a visit when we are next in the area we will be making another visit.

Highly recommend the patio with incredible views over the valley (inside is nice but more restaurant than pub). Service was friendly and the food good pub grub with a few vegetarian options. Distancing measures well complied with. On a summer evening the view from the patio has to be one of the best pub views in the country.

What a truly welcome re-opening of this gorgeous family run foodie pub! They’ve certainly put safety first with tables, inside and outside, spaced out much more than required by the government. Protocols are in place so everyone is served at their tables, menus are disposable and they’ve even introduced individual sachets of condiments to protect customers. As someone whose been isolating for weeks (actually months) I couldn’t have felt safer! Much more important was the food .. it was fabulous! My Mum and I had the leek and cheddar quiche, simply gorgeous. My brother had the steak pie and his fiancé the Lasagne. I can safely say we all gave our meals 10/10. The service was top notch!! This is a pub that has clearly made a huge effort to put its customers first at this time!

Had a very disappointing Sunday roast here, food was served cold and very little taste. Cheesecake was good though

We parked at The Edgemoor while walking the Friendship Trail, and were looking forward to lunch. We weren't disappointed, the asparagus, pea, mint and feta arancini were outstanding. It's a nice airy place with great views to savour along with the food. Service was great too. We'll be back!

Reservamos el día para un gran grupo de personas. Nos pidieron que viniéramos antes de lo que pedí, lo cual no fue un problema. Lamentablemente, llegamos más tarde de lo previsto y no estoy seguro de si esto fue un problema para el propietario (espero que no).El servicio fue muy eficiente y mi comida era absolutamente deliciosa; recomendaría totalmente el budín de pan y mantequilla.Volvería si en el área de Stroud nuevamente.

Tuve una comida familiar de cumpleaños el viernes pasado. Los entrantes y platos principales que tuvimos fueron encantadores y bien cocinados. El personal fue muy atento y amable. Fue una velada muy agradable y se lo recomendaría a cualquiera. Gracias a todo el personal por un tiempo encantador.

No hemos estado allí en años y visitamos un sábado por la noche, 3 adultos. Habíamos reservado una mesa y cuando llegamos a las 7 estaba bastante tranquilo, pero pronto se llenó.El servicio del personal de 3 fue muy amable, servicial y eficiente.Teníamos whitebait y paté de eglefino ahumado para comenzar, hígado y tocino, gammon y filete de lomo para tarta principal y melaza, tarta de queso choc y brownie con caramelo para el postre. Todos pensamos que nuestra comida era buena y sabrosa, perfectamente preparada y todos estábamos muy llenos al final.Volvería feliz en el futuro.

¡No he visitado este pub por unos 40 años! Hoy, pasamos un delicioso almuerzo largo con nuestros amigos disfrutando; excelente comida, servicio amable y eficiente, buenos platos vegetarianos, deliciosos postres y un ambiente cálido y agradable. ¿Las vistas? Bueno, ¡quién puede resistir la bella escena hacia Painswick y el Valle de Slad!¡No lo dejaré otros 40 años!

Visited a year ago and only gave 3 stars. 4 this time as meals were very good (2 scampi and 1 pie). Really lovely setting with great views and nicely decorated.

We stopped over for lunch here over the bank holiday weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing lunch and the views from the seating area outside is stunning. The staff were polite and attentive. We had 3 varieties of pie and soup and all of them were good. My personal favourite is the homemade Steak pie and the caramel brownie for dessert

Had a really nice dinner here, lots of choice on the menu and views are beautiful. Service was professional and felt genuine, although he did make the same jokes with every table! Not a huge amount of atmosphere (partly to be expected on a Tuesday night). Chicken Goujons tasted fresh, lasagne slightly burnt but still tasted nice. Chips not seasoned and had to ask for the bill twice which is why it’s four rather than five stars

We’ve visited The Edgemoor Inn on a number of occasions, and haven’t been disappointed yet. Today we stopped by for lunch, and sat outside in the glorious sunshine.

Well were to start lovely pub friendly staff Family run really cannot Both of the attention to detail helpful nonintrusive absolutely fantastic. The food is Fantastic If you’re looking for a nice place with good family atmosphere for all the family I would strongly recommend visiting this place it is absolutely fantastic place not to mention the views you’re doing a fantastic job keep it up very nice indeed the Willet family

It has to be said that we are now spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in Gloucestershire. Sometimes we go out trying new places which means old favourites get overlooked for a while.

Came for lunch with my partner, there were a good selection of ales, nice to see local ales on! I had the pie and my partner the cod, both tasty and excellent value for money. Service attentive and polite. I will visit again for sure

Family of eight dropped in for lunch. Highlights included the steak burger, cod loin, homity pie, port & stilton with digestives, and very good coffee and ale.

Steak Pie, Fish and Chips : all courses came out fresh and piping hot. Great flavour and very happy with the quality. Staff very accommodating and polite. Views outstanding. Nice to find a place that makes home made food again

Interesting to read other reviews and people doing subsequent reviews which I’ve rarely done.

My parents used to live in and around Stroud. Sadly, my father recently passed. Mum and I stopped there for lunch a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. The homity pie is delicious and is served with a huge salad.

I come in every other week for a drink with my friends, this place has incredible views over looking Gloucestershire and is great if you want reasonably priced food. The owner/manager is always friendly and approachable whenever we come in!

Did a review some 6 months ago & having read some recent adverse comments I thought I would balance these comments with mine as a regular usually twice a week &our; party of 3 have never had a bad or even indifferent meal in all this time .My wife says the fish specials are out of this world & her 98 year old mother who has a poor apetite never leaves any. My favourite is still hunters chicken which is always cooked to perfection & beautifully presented & served by the lovely Charlotte or owner Chris This is not a fast food outlet but always always worth the wait.Re the comments about staff having overheard how rude some customers are I am amazed how tolerant the staff are.Keep providing food & service you do.Thanks to Hanna for the lovely puds.

Visited the restaurant to celebrate a joint 85 th birthday. The food was very average and the portions were extremely small. No real atmosphere and as the table had been rebooked so everything was rushed.

Very disappointing experience. Food really bad. Not even the olives & feta appetizer delivered since there wasn’t any feta included. My mothers lamb stake was almost impossible to eat. When we asked if she could have it pink the answer was, no they are well done. My fish cakes were burned without fish in them. Service very slow. Full of locals though so maybe they stick to certain dishes that are ok?

Very disappointing £11.95 and you get One roast potato fatty tough beef and tasteless cauliflower cheese will not be re visiting. Such a shame as it was for a birthday celebration

We didn't have a table booked but delighted to be offered a table inside or out. Busy mid week but still had a couple of small tables inside.

Carnivores, pescatarians and vegetarians were brilliantly catered for with good service and friendly staff. As a vegetarian it was a pleasure to have such a selection to choose from. The roast veg and goats cheese tart was delicious, as was the salted caramel brownie. We had a table booked at The Falcon at Painswick but realised the vegetarian options were identical on all the menus with the cliched offerings of risotto and pasta. Delighted that we decided to change and try the Edgemoor. We will definitely be going back.

Been for a walk in Standish Woods and on Haresfield Beacon so called into the Edgemoor for lunch. Decent sized car park, always a good start and a warm welcome. Stunning views over the valley from within the restaurant. Probably even better from the terrace.

He conducido más allá tantas veces y ahora me gustaría haber pasado antes. Comida de buena calidad a buen precio. Una buena variedad de elementos en el menú, con un menú de "especiales" también. La comida era de muy buena calidad (especialmente los postres, ¡asegúrate de dejar espacio para eso!). Los alrededores son excelentes con excelentes vistas. El personal acogedor, atento y amable. El precio estaba bien alineado con la calidad y el tipo de comida, no tengo ninguna queja. El Edgemoor Inn definitivamente recibirá otra visita de nosotros en un futuro no muy lejano. Hay varios platos más en su menú que quiero probar pronto:)

Mesa con una vista. No estar ocupado. Para empezar teníamos dos sodas y limas y `Whitebait. para comenzar. El mejor entrante de menta que he tenido. No sé cómo lo hacen, pero el batido parecía menos grasoso, tan solo por su sabor. Luego tuvimos hígado y tocino. Una vez más, el mejor que he tenido. El tocino era mucho más grueso y el hígado estaba cocinado a la perfección, me informaron que todos provenían de agricultores locales. He comido en los restaurantes de Mayfair aunque mi trabajo, esto está arriba o mejor. P. S vigila el servicio de mesa. Si eso va. No importa qué tan buena sea la comida si no puede llevar la comida a la mesa de manera oportuna.

Elegimos este pub por la comida para satisfacer las necesidades dietéticas de una cena. Los ocho teníamos entrantes y platos principales y todos disfrutamos mucho de nuestra comida. La noche del sábado fue muy concurrida y el personal fue muy atento y trabajó arduamente para ofrecer un gran servicio.

The atmosphere of the place is fantastic, and the views are stunning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful; the food well-presented. The car park was a little tricky to get into, with a steep slope off the road, but that can't be helped.

Went to the Edgemoor for the first time this evening after hearing good things about the food.

Unfriendly, cold comfort farm, cold evening, no heating and we were told bluntly that it was summer and no heating was needed. instead of having a meal we paid for half finished drinks and left. Great views, pity about landlord and staff, also cobwebs and dust in Gents toilet, drove down to Painswick and called into the Falcon which was full and warm.They squeezed us in and we enjoyed our meal and the company.

We went there for 60th family celebration. Nine adults and 1 child and 1 baby. The food was so good. We had starters and they kindly cooked our granddaughters meal at the same time so she would not be hungry as they advised us It might be a while before our mains were served.

Disappointed as it was closed & no notice on website (I did check before we left) or on door - presumably closed due to snow fall. Although we arrived just after 1pm from Gloucester & roads clear. Got lunch elsewhere but really disappointed not to have had lunch here as usually such good service/meal.

I’ve always found the food very good, with a wide range of most foods, however the service has deteriorated again. A midweek snack in a quiet restaurant and bar, took a very long time. Staff friendly as ever, but sitting in a nearly empty room for 20 minutes waiting for a snack to arrive, and another 20 for a desert, was too long. Sorry

Visited just after Christmas for lunch with a large group.The attitude of the one of the staff ( I believe he was the bosses son) was awful, ill mannered, rude and down right aggressive.This needs addressing as a matter of urgency. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Overall very disappointed, will not be returning.

The Edgemoor Inn occupies a high point on the Stroud - Gloucester road with extensive views over Sheepscombe, Painswick and beyond. A large restaurant with superb, reasonably priced meat, fish or vegetarian dishes and a good choice of sweets and drinks. Large adjacent off road car park and outside seating area. Friendly and helpful staff.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival and throughout. The food was really good quality and with perfect presentation. Would highly recommend this restaurant. 5 out of 5 for everything :D

Been to this pub many times over the past 10 years, I called in yesterday with my mum for lunch. We both decided to have pork belly with a glass of Prosecco. The pork belly was awful, flabby and the “crackling” was just a lump of fat on the top. Laid on mashed potato with heaps of apple sauce, even if you don’t want it. No veg, only a spoonful of peas. Very disappointed and all for £14.95. Don’t bother unless you want a nice view over the valley.

Came here for Sunday lunch recently. We were told that 2.15 was the earliest they could do so we were surprised to see lots of empty tables when we arrived. The manager seemed a bit offish, perhaps just having a bad day..

Went here sat eve early , been before in the summer, food is excellent , my only gripe was the belly pork ( as most other mains ) came with only PEAS ! ( what no mixed veg ) had to order sep veg , no main course (in my opinion) , should ever be served with only one veg, not inc the pots ! so, lost a mark for that , the only other thing missing was ( as this is a big summer pub , needs a very large / or 2, log fires , as the huge dinning room is quite cold at this time of year .

Firstly let me say the food and service level was excellent as expected and as shown by the many reviews here.

Have been eating here regularly for some months twice a week & food is always always perfect to our tastes you have a wait for main courses which come freshly cooked & hot but with the ever changing views you do not notice.My wifes' favourite is always the fish usually from the Specials which is always cooked to perfection I have just about been through the menue but recommend the Hunters Chicken.Meals are not cheap but are excellent value.Staff could not be better .Sweets especially the home made specials are nothing short of incredible.Keep doing what you are doing

Lovely food, nice staff, amazing view. This place is wonderful. There isn't much else to be said. I can't wait for my next visit.

We travelled 30 miles to the second sitting of Sunday lunch at the Edgemore and were delighted to have made the trip. Although the restaurant was very full and still catering for a few stragglers from first sitting, we were promptly seated and served from an interesting and extensive menu and a well stocked bar. Starters, main courses and desserts were well presented and of very good quality, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. All the more so, with the outstanding view from the restaurant across the beautiful Painswick valley. Do book for Sunday lunch to avoid disappointment.

Visited here with a few of my friends and the service was fantastic and the food was even better and they do the best deserts!! And the views are to die for!!

El Edgemoor Inn está maravillosamente situado con vistas idílicas sobre el valle hacia Painswick. Está muy bien equipado, con mesas bien colocadas, cubiertos adecuados y servilletas. El personal fue muy atento y servicial, a pesar de que nuestro almuerzo se prolongó hasta las 3. 30! Todo el ambiente fue muy agradable, aunque los precios eran un poco caros.

Visitamos un lunes por la tarde con otra pareja. Todos tuvimos comidas diferentes y cada uno fue fabuloso. Tuve el pato que estaba delicioso. El pudín era encantador.

Este es uno de mis restaurantes favoritos, pero la última visita me ha decepcionado. Tal vez ha habido un cambio en el personal, pero aunque el lugar definitivamente no estaba muy ocupado, esperamos mucho tiempo de pedido y entre cursos. Sin embargo, la comida era tan buena como siempre, con una opción aún más amplia. Sin embargo, no me desanime.

Arreglamos encontrarnos con amigos aquí después de hacer un paseo circular desde el estacionamiento hasta Painswick usando un poco del Camino Cotswold. Aunque un viernes no estaba lleno. Tomamos un poco de té a la llegada y fueron muy pacientes mientras conversábamos con nuestros amigos durante el tiempo de reserva. Este lugar se eligió en parte porque uno de los integrantes del grupo es vegetariano / pescador de pescado y todos los demás lugares que vimos tenían un plato a base de squash y eso fue todo. Hay un menú vegetariano mucho más grande aquí. Estábamos un poco nerviosos por el gran menú, pero teníamos una gran variedad de platos y todos eran oportunos, bien repartidos, calientes y de buen sabor, y algunos fueron proclamados deliciosos, incluido el plato de pescado del día. No puedo comentar sobre la cerveza, pero nos quedamos muy satisfechos con la comida y el vino por el precio. Parece bastante poco atractivo desde la carretera y el aparcamiento, pero es espacioso, elegante, con bonitas vistas desde la terraza y pensamos que la comida era excelente. El personal inexperto no era tan atractivo, pero sigue con el trabajo lo suficientemente bien, eso es todo lo que necesitas.

Decidimos visitar Edgemoor siguiendo una recomendación de un amigo. Ciertamente no nos decepcionó y volveremos pronto.

Taken here by friends whilst we were visiting them in Gloucester. Service excellent with friendly staff including (I think a trainee waiter). Drinks ordered and arrived after a short and acceptable wait. Our appetisers and mains were also served after acceptable periods of time. The Sea Bass (ordered by three of our party) were excellent and very well received. However, I had the Sirloin Steak that had a great deal of grizzle in it. Whilst what I could eat was tasty the meal was spoilt for me. I did mention it to the young waitress who said she was sorry but the cut of meat sometimes was not as good as the norm. This was a pity as I would have graded this restaurant as Very Good otherwise. The restaurant and toilets were very clean and the views from the property were outstanding. All in all a well received visit.

There are great views across the valley to be had from this pub / restaurant.

Myself and my girlfriend set out to walk the Cotswold way path and at the start of our 4th day, we greeted by a months worth of rain in one day.

What a lovely place to eat. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was superb. The only thing to top it was the amazing view we had from our table.

We went here on a Wednesday night & the restaurant was quite busy. The staff & waitress who served us was very helpful & attentive. The food was excellent, 3 of us had a veggie meal & one meat, and they were all very tasty. They view from the window was fantastic. Choice of beers very good, and overall a 5*performance, will definitely go back.

Situated overlooking the valley to Painswick, very picturesque. Nicely decorated interior. Staff ok, no really friendly, service slow. My friend gave her glass of wine back as lipstick on the rim. The owner just said her eyesight was better than his. Food was nice, but nothing special and to me overpriced.

We decided to come here on a Sunday, it was hot so we didn’t decide to book as we thought people would be at home. The staff were smiley and friendly, we were greeted with a warm welcome and asked if we wanted a drink straight away! Top service! The food was good, and the view is amazing. If you want somewhere with good food, excellent service and spectacular views then this is your place! Will defiantly be coming back!

Visited the edgemoor inn at the weekend with my husband and a friend who was visiting the area with us.We wasn't dissapointed with our visit, lovely food lots of choice,very good service and excellent views across the valley we will definately visit again

Went with 3 others for lunch today Food was excellent - you can tell it’s proper home cooked food. Reasonable price,good service and of course the wonderful views, we will all definitely be returning. Thankyou Edgemoor.

Good quality lunch with excellent home made desserts. The staff were ok, a little hesitant, but polite. The owner Manager (Ive seen him before) looks very serious. It sets the mood of the place, which is a little stiff and sombre. Good beer.

we sat on the terrace at the back of the pub and had stunning views relaxing with a drink. Had difficulty choosing from the delicious starters which were freshly cooked and very tasty. A great menu and excellent service from our waitress, Cord. Thank you for a lovely evening out !!

The pub is situated in a beautiful location with views across the valleys. There is a seating area in the pub and seating area in the restaurant. The menu is very varied for a pub, and the food was excellent. The young waitress were helpful. The prices are reasonable. You do have to book as it gets very busy. Well worth a visit.
