Fromebridge Mill in Stroud

Nothing but good things to say about the fromebridge mill and it's staff! We hired the function room to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary and it all went so smoothly, from the phone call to book to the organisation on the night there were 28 of us food came lovely and warm,everyone was happy and helpful and nothing was too much trouble! So thanks again guys for helping us have a lovely evening 😊

Lovely setting , friendly staff , good value food

Nice location. Cheap carvery. Tastes okay though, I guess you get what you pay for. Felt like most the staff were struggling to smile through their shift. The guy serving at the carvery was miserable at best. It felt like a restaurant in a British caravan park.

First visit here. Not overly impressed. It says dog friendly, but I couldn't find anywhere on the booking to say you're bringing a dog, as they have a certain area for dogs. They have a doggie menu, got our girl the carvery, £3. It was served in a plastic takeaway tub! It was basically left over fat! We wouldn't feed her this at home. We were hoping for a bit of veg as well. Needless to say, don't order this. You need to order your meals at the bar. If you miss the sign when entering, you wouldn't know. The person who directed us to our table, didn't inform us of anything. Only that we have the table for 1 1/2hours! The whole atmosphere felt rushed. Yes it was busy, but people queuing for food and drink was ridiculous. Why on earth do they not take your orders at the table??! The staff were not attentive and not approachable. Will not be visiting this place again. Not very autistic friendly either. The setting is the only best thing about it. Replying to Sacha The food for our dog wasn't altered at all! We were not offered any veg, just to be told that's it. I appreciate that Sunday's are busy. But, ordering at the bar for food can take 15-20 minutes or so, then waiting for the food, so the time is reduced to relax and eat your meal. We had people queuing next to our table, very off putting. The feeling was unorganised and rushed

Called in after a visit to Gloucester, was one of the last people to have the carvery and was very enjoyable. Plenty to choose from, veg was great, meat was great so would call again for sure..

Good food and plenty of it but a downside is the queuing. Q to order, pay before you eat and Q for ages to collect your food. Pudding? Q to order etc. Very, very busy and loud.

Our third time here since we first discovered Fromebridge Mill for a family Birthday and always a great experience. Food is good value for money with an excellent all day Carvery in particular. Although it was busy on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon we never felt rushed and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Very convenient location a few mins off the M5 junction and a beautiful location next to the river and weir. Big thanks to the team for looking after us and to Pam in particular for taking time to explain the history, show us the old water wheel and workings of the mill. We'll be back soon!

A great pub in a great location. We enjoyed a lovely lunch sat outside in the sunshine overlooking the river. Followed by a good evening meal with friends. The food was well cooked and there was a good gluten free menu. There is a large car park and motorhomes can stay the night.

Me and my husband came in for a Friday night meal and was pleasantly surprised by what the Fromebridge had to offer. From start to finish was top notch. I have to mention our waitress, she looked after us for the whole night and we were very impressed by her service, unfortunately we didn’t get her name but she had lovely red hair. Food was brilliant and not a big dent in the bank either! Keep it up fromebridge we’ll see you soon!

Had a lovely evening, Fin and Josh were incredibly helpful and welcoming. What a lovely team!!

Lunch deals are limited choice but are fantastic

The two of us popped in for a drink after a very nice walk Thought we would take advantage of the steak offer I ask for both to be medium to well and both were rare one more so than the other.Both were tuff and the lady on the table behind said the same Also i don't expected to eat a meal with a member of staff on the phone shouting all about bookings .Not a good review What a reply i do know how to answer a phone and that's not shouting a laughing in a dinning room .Forgot to say fire alarm went off not one person explained what was going on

Had a really lovely meal with quick service and Josh was really helpful and looked after us well.

Been coming to the fromebridge for a number of years now and made some great friends here, the manager, sarah, and her workforce are fantastic, sarah james, Anna, zac, josh just to name a few are so welcoming, chatty, lovely people that make coming here a heart-warming experience. Hats off to the staff and manager! Wouldn't go anywhere else with my friends or children!!! Sat outside by the free flowing canal and waterfall in the summer is one of the best feelings in the world, the perfect destination for a meal, catchup or a date !!!

Banging food carvery is outstanding marvin top guy very friendly and great chef atmosphere is great highly recommended will be coming back no doubt about it

Had a carvery, found beef to be very tough & chewy, sprouts hard under cooked, gammon rubbery. Shame really as there is a good selection of veg. Second time we've found tough beef. Definitely room for improvement.

Me my gf and her brother came here for lunch on a Monday and waiting almost a hour for drinks we ordered on their app only too be told they don't sell the drinks on their app that we choose.

Arrived late evening reasonably quiet excellent Gammon with pineapple and egg welcomed on arrival food served quickly and lovely and hot can highly recommend good value for money Lovely setting will return

My granddaughter had her 18th birthday meal hear the food was fantastic and the staff were brilliant they made time to talk to us all we will be back very soon thankyou all for making it a great evening

Food excellent lot of choice in vegetables and meat very nice. BUT what lets it down is the car park, diabolical, the potholes disgraceful and on a wet day impossible to park. Please sort the potholes out.

The food is solid pub fare however they need to sort out hygiene levels in the rest rooms. When four members of my table had to request soap in the ladies toilets and none materialised after staff being informed on four separate occasions. Shocking! They need to ensure someone is responsible for restocking the bathrooms. Not what you want in a restaurant when Noravirus is rife at present.

Had yet another first class meal in a warm,friendly atmosphere with outstanding service as always from Tracy who is always keen to help.

First time here and won't be the last. We had the mixed grill and even tho it was really busy we didn't have to wait too long for our food. The food was really well cooked and homemade chips which was a bonus. The staff were all friendly and everyone of them that passed us acknowledged us and the place is super dog friendly which is an added bonus. They even have a dog menu. Coudnt believe tho how cheap the meals and drinks were there compared to where we usually eat the drinks were a lot cheaper and the food was worth every penny ... You have a bar menu and also a carvery, next time I will try the carvery as everything looked and smelt stunning. Would highly recommend this place to try you will be pleasantly surprised as were we...

Was realy looking forward to a lovely carvery , The yorkshires were left in a basket so was stone cold , there was no gammon left , the potatoes my friends and myself said tasted funny ? So disappointed with this , the man behind the bar didn’t greet us very warmly no smile etc But the ladies that were waiting staff was all very cheerful and helpful , so not sure if it was a bad day for theses guys. Just not sure I want to go back ? But otherwise lovely. Location great place to visit

Tiny portion sizes for the price. Paid 8 quid for 4 tiny pieces of so called "crispy" pork belly bites. They were tasty but the price is an absolute joke.

I hosted a party of twelve for a delayed Xmas lunch. Ten of us had the Lighter Bites menu, and two had the carvery. No one complained about the quality of the food, but the service was rather slow, both ordering at the bar, where there was a long queue, and in the wait for dishes to arrive at table. Seems like they could do with more staff - the waitress looked very harassed! It was also a bit cold in the place - the radiators were warm but not hot. However, we all had a great time!

Had a lovely carvery here. Arrived Sunday at 5pm. Was busy but got quieter around 5.45. Staff helpful.. lovely old mill building over looking water ways.. would be lovely sitting outside in summer there.. Only down side was we ore booked table and asked window seat.. But they places us table 16 which backed onto the queue area for carvery...so had people queuing and knocking my chair.. Avoid table 16...

Lovely Mill stream setting. Very convenient for M5 journeys. Mainly carvery but other food available. 3 meats on offer ham, beef and turkey. Good selection of vegetables

Fantastic carvery and really good value for money. Service was good, quick to bring other members of the party’s food out and three of us had the carvery. Loads of choice, nice and hot, Yorkshire puds are amazing and massive. We went on a Wed night and it was really busy which is nice to see. It is a big pub so nice to see it ike this.

I spent a long weekend hiking in Gloucestershire and had dinner here on my first night. The experience was so good that I ended up coming back for the next two nights as well! The food is excellent (and reasonably priced) while the staff are all really friendly. The pub building itself is also beautiful and in a nice location with plenty of parking available. Would definitely recommend!

Nice date night for me and the hubby, we picked here on a recommendation from a friend. The setting is beautiful. The building is really nice with its beams and original walls exposed. The service was friendly and helpful, and food excellent. Lots of drinks choice, even non-alcoholic gins. We were really impressed. Thanks for a lovely experience, we will be back 🙂

The Sunday roast is amazing, loads of food - definitely book as it gets super busy.

Nice looking and rather large pub with outdoor seating and river views. Nice friendly staff. The beer offering is limited - when I visited the only choices of bitter were bottled and those are always kept in a fridge so too cold to savour. We ate here too - OK so no food poisoning but not sure how you could make a "signature burger" anymore tasteless than the one I ate - didn't come with rosemary skin on fries as advertised and didn't have anything remotely green or red on the plate - some may like that lol but I like a bit of salad. Desserts were better than mains. All in all a mixed bag but I ended up with a full belly, a little tipsy and enjoyed the ace feature of this destination - £10 overnight parking for our motorhome

Had the most fantastic roast today the service and atmosphere were great. Very friendly staff and Sarah made sure we enjoyed our visit.

Arrived to be greeted by the delicious waft of carvery. The food was delicious, staff were pleasantly welcoming and we had a great evening meal. Image the place must be packed out in summer with lovely riverside setting.

Such a beautiful restaurant/pub! It has a very comfortable feel with a beautiful view, delicious food and to top it off, the loveliest staff I have ever come across. They are incredibly kind and genuine people. I have lived in a few different areas and this is 100% my favourite place to go, the staff definitely contribute to the warm and relaxing feeling the pub gives simply due to being kind.

Lovey boxing day meal for our family of 12, I thought the staff were brilliant I felt sorry for the two women on the bar they were grossly understaffed. The food came out in good time considering the pub was pretty full. The ordering of drinks & food from the bar was a bit crap on boxing day & we had to que several time through the meal to get everything needed not what you want when out with all your family at a one off yearly event, they could have employed a few extra waiter staff over the Christmas period to take orders considering the prices they were charging. Still a very enjoyable meal & lovely location we've been to many times over the years

Visited on a Monday lunchtime. The staff were helpful on arrival. There was an excellent carvery, which most diners seemed to choose, though we ordered from the menu. A good range of real ale was available and a well stocked bar. The bar and dining room were tastefully decorated and the atmosphere was relaxed. We will return.

We love visiting the Fromebridge Mill, food is usually very good, the carvery is excellent, so glad they're doing it again. It's always a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The only negative is that there never seems to be enough people serving at the bar.

Had a carvery twice in the last month and it was great. Lots of veg to choose from, all really nice and not over cooked. Very busy so worth booking but great atmosphere and quick service from the bar and carvery. Will definitely be back soon.

We were so pleased to see the return of the carvery. Loved the meat and the great selection of vegetables, such good value for money.

Staff were brilliant but disappointed as we had rang before hand to confirm carvery was still on and was reassured it was on every day and evening when we arrived at 6.45 we were told it wasn't on it had sold out ,this was the reason we choose the Fromebridge as we wanted a carvery, we eat regularly at the hunters hall once a wk probably and husband was fed up with eatting the same things from menu and carvery was something different for us and the other adults with us.

Visited Fromebridge Mill yesterday for Sunday lunch. We originally booked a table for 2 and then asked if we could amend the booking to 5. Even though the restaurant was fully booked they managed to accommodate us so many thanks to Sarah. All of us opted for the carvery and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The meat was good quality and plenty of veg to choose from. Very good value for money and we will certainly be returning in the near future.

Lovely old building and setting on the riverside, with small waterfall so lovely on a sunny day. Nice bar left as you go in with old mill equipment on show.main dining area lacks character but pleasant none the less. Very popular early dinner spot and waiting times can be 45min for food. Carvery or menu selection of standard fare...steaks, burgers, fish & chips, lamb shank etc

Fantastic roast , the chef Marvin put so much love and effort the food . The mash is amazing and the cheesy cauliflower cheese was dvinet

If you can't be arsed to make a Roasty and hank Marvin then yiu can't beat a full on carvery at Fromebridge Mill!

On Sunday we had another fantastic lunch at the Fromebridge Mill. The service was excellent with very friendly and efficient staff. The food served by ‘Carvin Marvin’ and his team was delicious. Beautifully cooked and very well presented and served. All of the above made a great atmosphere for very enjoyable Sunday lunch for my Partner and I and my Mother in Law. Thank you to all concerned.

Brilliant place. Food is amazing. The customer service is 5 star. I definitely recommend trying their mixed grill absolutely amazing. I would like to make a separate review for Gerard. His service made our day even better. Our daughter was turning 5 and he was absolutely amazing with her. Fromebridge mill should be very proud and grateful they have someone like Gerard working there. His customer service is well above five star!

We visit this place most Sundays for a carvery and it's one of the best we've ever had. The food and service is always great, loafs of choice of veg and three choices of meat with generous portions of the meat, all cooked to a high standard. Sarah the manager is always welcoming. Well worth the money and would highly recommend.

Our last meal here was an absolute disgrace, following discussions with Sara ( manager ), we agreed to visit and give them a chance to improve their standards and get back to first class. I am very pleased to say Fromebridge mill was clean, cutlery sparkling, meal excellent, hot and served perfectly, waitress could have done nothing more to improve our meal, she was excellent and friendly, nothing to much trouble…….will be happy to visit this establishment and promote it again at this vastly Improved standard, thank you Sara, keep up the standard, this is a winner ….

Fantastic food and service. The carvery was spectacular. Good child food selection and quick service. Really nice setting as well even in the autumn rain.

The four of us visited again on 5th October and as expected, our food was absolutely fantastic and excellent value for money. The Fromebridge Mill is consistently brilliant and although this is the first review I've left, we've dined here many times. The table was all ready, laid out and spotless when we arrived and as usual, the bar and waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful with a wide selection of drinks on tap. Marvin their head chef was looking after the carvery and ensuring everything was piping hot, cooked to perfection and served with a beaming smile as he made sure everyone was well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. This is without a doubt one of the very best venues around a significant area of Gloucestershire for the quality, selection and value for money of the carvery, it could quite easily be the absolute top. The usual menu doesn't disappoint either with an excellent selection of dishes and desserts to choose from. Not all of us had room for desserts (you can always share one though) and they were so nice, one was started before I had time to snap the photo! The Fromebridge Mill is really easy to find, just a few moments from Junction 13 of the M5 with a huge, free car park and plenty of space for a walk and to exercise dogs. Book a table and visit as soon as you can, you'll be absolutely thrilled and won't leave there hungry, I guarantee it.

Lovely old sympathically restored building. With the old mill workings visible inside. Right by the water. Indoor dog friendly area to eat. Plenty of parking too. A friend had the mushroom and ale pie. We had carvery. All lovely, plenty meat and lots of veg choice.

Please bring back the mussels on the menu! I thought this was the signature dish of the place. Otherwise, lovely building, and the staff is very welcoming to humans and dogs!

This place is absolutely stunning, the river Frome underneath you as you walk over the bridge. The food has always been lovely, we always get the carvery. The people are so friendly every time. It's a big, proper, old-fashioned pub.
